Chapter 165: The Gift
Stone paused and thanked the unknown god, and then he and the dwarf ran to the pot with the unconscious half-elf in their arms. He put the half-elf in the pot and ran back to find River Breeze.
It took a total of four people to bring back the bloodied river wind. In vain, Wade tried to stop the bleeding with a handkerchief.
"Hurry up!" Calamon struggled, and no matter how hard he tried, the pot had begun to slowly rise.
"Come in!" Stone ordered Rodrith.
The mage looked up at him coldly, then turned and ran into the mist. A few seconds later, he ran out of the fog again, holding the flutter in his hand.
The knight grabbed the shivering dwarf of the valley and threw her into the pot.
Plop cowered at the bottom of the pot, still clutching her bag. Rodrith climbed in, but the pot continued to rise—Calamon's hands were nearly dislocated.
"Get in. Stone ordered Calamon, and as is customary, the knight was the last to leave the battlefield. Calamon knew there was no room for argument, and he climbed in so hard that he almost toppled the pot over, and when the pot began to rise rapidly, Stone leapt up and grabbed the edge of the pot with both hands.
After one or two attempts, he finally put one foot on the edge of the pot and, with the help of Calamon, climbed into the pot without any danger.
The knight knelt beside Robert, and was relieved to see the half-elf moaning and moving.
Stone quietly hugged the half-elf. "You don't know how glad we are that you're alive!" said the knight hoarsely.
"River Breeze—" Robert said inarticulately.
"He's here. He saved your life. He saved all people's lives. Stone said desperately, barely having time to breathe, "We are in the elevator, and we are ascending." The city is finished, where do you hurt?"
"Broken ribs, at least it feels. Robert frowned in pain. And turned his head to look at the river breeze that was wounded all over his body, but still awake.
"Poor fellow. Robert said softly. "Scarlet Moon. I watched her die with my own eyes. Stone, I didn't have time to save her. ”
Stone helped the half-elf to his feet. "We have the platinum disc. The knight said solemnly. "This is the purpose of her sacrifice of life.
It's now in my backpack nicely. Are you sure you can stand up?"
"Yes. Robert said. He inhaled in fits and starts. "We've got the platinum disc, okay, how does it help us now?"
Their conversation was interrupted by a second pot falling from the side, and the dwarves of the valley screamed in an unorderly manner.
The dwarves of the valley shook their fists and cursed the group. Puff laughed happily. Then she looked up and looked at Rodrith happily. The mage leaned wearily against the pot, his lips moving silently, silently reciting another spell.
Stone looked up. "I wonder how many enemies there will be up there?" he asked.
Robert looked up as well, "Most of them have fled—at least I hope so." He suddenly held his breath and pounded his chest in pain.
The pot suddenly shook violently. It fell a few feet, stopped, and slowly ascended. The group exchanged alarmed glances.
"Either it's going to collapse, it's the dragonmen who have discovered that we're down there and are trying to destroy it. Robert said.
"There's nothing we can do now," Stone said hatefully, looking at the bag containing the platinum plate at his feet, "except to pray to these gods—"
The pot suddenly shook again and began to fall. For a moment it stopped in mid-air, swaying from side to side. Then it began to rise again, shaking and shaking, and now everyone could see the opening in its head.
The pot creaked up, and everyone's nerves tightened until—
"Dragonman!" Wade screamed, pointing upwards.
Two dragonmen glared at them. As the pot gets closer and closer, Robert spotted two dragonmen bending over and preparing to jump down.
"They're going to jump in! The pot won't hold!" Hubble shouted. "We're going to fall!"
"That's probably what they intended," said Robert, "and they have wings." ”
"Stand back," Rodrith said, struggling to his feet.
"Little brother, don't!" his brother grabbed him. "Your body is too weak. ”
"I still have enough magic to cast a spell," the mage whispered. "But maybe it won't work. If they recognize me as a mage, they may have a way to resist my magic. ”
"Hide behind Calamon's shield. Robert's mind raced. Dahan leaned sideways and used his shield to block his younger brother's figure.
A fog surrounded them, making it impossible for the dragonmen to see them clearly, but it also made them unaware of their exact location.
The pot rises inch by inch, making a non-stop chirping sound. Rodrith hid behind his shield, his golden eyes twinkling, waiting for the fog to lift.
A cool breeze swept across Robert's cheeks. A gust of wind temporarily blew away the fog. The dragonmen were now so close that they could almost touch them with their hands! The dragonmen spotted them at once, and one of them jumped at them with his wings outstretched, sword in hand, and a cry of victory from his mouth.
Rodlis spoke. Calamon removed his shield, and the mage held out his finger. A white round object shot out of his hand, right in the dragonman's stomach. The ball exploded, turning into white sticky threads that wrapped around it.
What had been a shout of triumph turned into a scream of fear as the threads wrapped around its wings. It struggled to fall, its body hitting the edge of the iron pot. The pot began to slowly shake from side to side.
"There's another one there!" said Rodrith to his knees. "Hold me, Calamon, help me get up!" the mage began to cough violently, blood pouring from the corners of his mouth.
"Little brother!" his brother pleaded, dropping his shield and holding his brother who was about to pass out. "Stop! you can't help. You're going to kill yourself!"
A commanding look is enough. The warrior obediently held his brother, who began to murmur a mantra from his mouth.
The remaining dragonmen hesitated, still hearing the screams of their companions. It knew that the human was a magician. It also knew that it might be able to resist his magic.
But the magician's appearance was very different from anything he had ever met before. The human looked so weak that he was about to fall, but he exuded great strength.
The mage raised his hand and pointed at the monster. The dragonman gave the group a vicious last look and turned to run away.
Rodlis couldn't hold it anymore at this time and passed out in his brother's arms. At this point, the pot finally reached the ground.
When they dragged the river wind out of the pot, a violent vibration made the Nianzu Hall shake non-stop, and everyone dragged the river wind to keep running forward, and the floor behind them kept collapsing.
The floor finally couldn't support such a vibration, and with a thud the whole cauldron fell downward.
"This whole place is going to collapse!" Calamon shouted alertly, grasping his prostrated brother in one hand.
"Run, hurry back to Mishakai's temple. Robert said bitterly.
"Do you want to believe in these gods again?" Hubble said. Robert couldn't answer.
Stone grabbed River Wind's arm and began to try to pick him up, but the Plainsman shook his head and pushed him away. "My injuries are not serious, and I can hold on.
Leave me alone. He walked unsteadily on the crumbling floor. Robert looked at Stone suspiciously, and the knight shrugged, the Sorenian knight generally considered suicide admirable, and the elf thought it was stupid.
The half-elf tugged at the plainman's long hair, forcing him to look up to face him. "Go, lie down and die!" said Robert, furiously. "Let your chief have no face! at least she'll have the courage to fight!"
River Breeze's eyes changed suddenly. He grabbed Robert's wrist and threw the half-elf against the wall, barely leaving him to resist, and slammed into the wall in excruciating pain.
The Plainsman stood up and looked at Robert with hatred in his eyes. Then he staggered down the hallway that shook violently.
Stone helped Robert to his feet, the half-elf groggy in pain. They managed to keep up with the others as quickly as possible. The floor shook wildly. Stone slipped, and both men slammed into the wall.
The sarcophagus in the tomb fell down the hallway, and the contents were scattered to the ground. A skull rolled at Robert's feet, glaring at the kneeling half-elf, who was afraid that he might faint from the pain if he was not careful.
"Hurry up," he tried to open his mouth, but couldn't make a sound. The knight picked him up, and the two of them stumbled together in the smoke-filled hallway. They saw Wade waiting at the bottom of the stairs known as the Road of Death.
"What about the others?" Stone asked, coughing.
"They've gone up," Wade said. "Calamon told me to wait for you here. Hubble said the temple was safe for dwarf handiwork.
What is under the care of the goddess. The river breeze was over there, too, and he glared at me. I thought he was going to kill me!
"All right!" said Robert, trying to stop his rambling. "That's enough! Stone, put me down. I need to get some rest, or I'll pass out. Take Wade away and I'll meet you on the stairs. Damn it, get out of here!"
Stone grabbed Wade by the collar and pulled him up the stairs with all his might. Robert collapsed weakly. His whole body was soaked with sweat, and every breath brought untold pain.
Suddenly, the entire floor of Nian Zuting fell to the ground with a bang. Mishakai's temple shook for a while. Robert struggled to his feet, then stopped. Behind him, he could hear a slight noise, the sound of a large amount of water gushing out, and the new sea engulfed the lair of the lone earth dragon. The dead city is now finally buried.
Robert slowly walked up the stairs and appeared in the circular room on the upper level. For him, climbing stairs was like torture, and every step was a new miracle.
The hall was silent, and the only thing that could be heard clearly was the gasps of their companions who were exhausted and could no longer take a step forward. He was wheezing, just like everyone else.
The half-elf looked around and made sure everyone was fine. Stone removed his backpack with the platinum disc and leaned limply against the wall.
Rodrith was lying on a bench with his eyes closed and breathing profusely. Of course, Calamon was still beside him, with a nervous look on his face.
Wade sat at the bottom of the pedestal, looking at the top. Hubble leaned against the door, too tired to speak.
"What about the river breeze?" Robert asked. He saw Stone and Callamon exchange glances, then both lowered their heads. Robert struggled to his feet, anger stopping him from the pain. Stone stood up and blocked his way.
"It's his choice, Robert. That's how they do it, just like my countrymen. ”
Robert pushed the knight away and walked to the front door. Hubble didn't move his body.
"Get out of the way. The half-elf said, his voice trembling. Hubble looked up, the expression on his face as if full of sadness and regret.
Robert saw in his eyes the wisdom that could attract a disgruntled elf, a human half-breed boy, and a dwarf to befriend.
"Sit down, little one. Hubble said in a gentle voice, as if recalling the days of the past. "If your elven bloodline can't be understood, at least listen to your human bloodline!"
Robert closed his eyes with tears hanging from his eyelashes. Then he heard a scream coming from the temple—the sound of the river wind. Robert pushed the dwarf away and pushed the gate open with all his might.
Three steps and two steps, he quickly pushed open the second door, ignoring his pain, and entered the main hall of Mishakai. He felt serene and serene again, but this time it only made him angrier.
"How do you tell me to believe you!" called Robert. "What kind of god are you? You are the same god who brought the cataclysm to mankind. Well—you're very capable! Get out of us now! We don't need you. ”
The half-elf sobbed. In the blur of tears, he could see River Wind kneeling in front of the statue with a sword in his hand.
Robert stumbles forward, hoping to stop this self-destructive behavior. Robert walked around the statue, then froze, letting his thoughts steady again. Then he looked up again. Scarlet Moon lay there, her chest rising and falling regularly, asleep.
Her blonde hair was draped over her shoulders, fluttering with the gentle breeze that brought the scent of spring. The Crystal Staff becomes part of the statue again, but Robert notices that Crimson Moon is now wearing the necklace that used to hang around the statue's neck.
"I'm a true priest now," Crimson said softly. "I am a believer in Mishakai, and although there is still a lot to learn, I already have the power of faith. More importantly, I have the ability to heal. I brought the gift of medical care back into the world. ”
Crimson reached out and touched Robert's forehead, bowing her head and praying to Mishakai. The half-elf felt a peaceful power flow through his body, cleansing his soul and healing his wounds.
"We now have a pastor," Hubble said, "and it's going to help us a lot." But from what we've heard, King Majmina is also a priest, and a very powerful priest.
We may have found the old god of good, but he also found the old god of evil, and much earlier than we did. I don't see how these platinum discs can help us deal with the hordes of dragons. ”[.]
