Chapter 13: Dawn
The four of them had been walking for a day and a night, and at this moment it was dawn, and the group was sitting under the big tree on the low slope to rest.
"Looks like we're almost there. Loras opened the water bag, poured it into her mouth, and reached out to Rodrith.
"That old fellow Aven, he left us aside and came first. The magic apprentice rolled his eyes.
Mountains stretched across the distant sky, and at the junction of the sky and the land, pale yellow clouds fluttered, and the sky was still gray, and the sound of wind and grass echoing softly in the ears with the chirping of birds.
Beneath the low slope was a moist depression, and the calm stagnant water reflected the flowing clouds in the sky, and the mood of the four of them began to become cheerful.
Filin opened his bag and checked his belongings, where the Assassin's Creed and the golden coat of arms were lying quietly.
When you get to Curry, you must read the contents of the book, Fei Lin thought to himself.
Remembering the nightmare he had last night, Filmin still had palpitations.
Above the endless sea, the burned temple, the golden spear burning in the hands of the faceless angel, and the heart-rending pain of being pierced through the body by the spear.
The last words from the depths of the soul echoed in the dream countless times, and every word seemed to ask one's own heart.
"Let's go, we have to go to the Starlight Inn and meet Lord Evan first. Loras said, standing up.
Filin saw a canal dug by hand, and the gurgling water flowed into the wheat fields in the distance. The group walked over the wooden bridge and onto the hard stone path, and Curry was close in sight.
The town's walls are made up of many thick tree trunks that form a natural barrier from the outside world. The open gate is lined with many wire fences, and the guards at the gate check the people and goods entering and leaving. The archers on the watchtower leaned on the guardrail, looking leisurely into the distance.
"Guys, come to me. As soon as the four of them reached the door, they heard a small guard shouting, motioning for them to hand over their belongings.
"Hey, kids, don't have to search. A middle-aged man in full armor spoke to stop, seemingly a step above the others.
"Go in!" the guards immediately made way for them.
The town was bustling with people, and as soon as he entered, he saw a dozen tall horses standing in a row on his left, eating forage with their heads bowed, specially trained thoroughbred horses for those who needed to travel long distances.
Curry is located in a wide plain, bordering Willow, far from the hustle and bustle of war. Due to the abundance of silver mines, there are many people coming and going, and it is the transportation hub of Park Province.
Filin noticed the peaceful expressions of the pedestrians on the road, which gradually calmed down his originally excited heart. The group walked through the bazaar in the square and got lost in the bustling town center. Loras asked the merchants on the side of the road for the location of the Starlight Inn, and continued on the avenue to the west.
"It's finally here. Filin looked up at the pattern on the wooden signboard, two daggers standing crossed, and a purple diamond-shaped gem was painted on the top of the dagger, which seemed to radiate outward.
The door of the inn was hidden, and Rodrith excitedly pushed it open, and then sighed in surprise.
The sight before them was very strange: the tables and chairs in the inn were neatly and tightly arranged, the food on the tables was still steaming, but the seats were empty, as if they had left in a hurry halfway through their meal.
The inn where travelers come and go, instead of the noisy scene imagined, is surprisingly quiet.
Filin heard a faint whisper, which turned out to be the prayer of the innkeeper curled up behind the counter.
Presumably, something happened that caused the guests to sneak away.
Loras glanced at the inside of the inn, and then noticed a corner with three men dressed as knights.
One of the knights raised his hand as if he was lifting something, and when he looked at it, it was a little boy.
"Stop!" Loras shouted at the three knights as he unsheathed his sword, clenched it in his hand.
"Huh?" Before the words fell, the three of them heard the sound of the door, and immediately got up and looked this way.
"Brother, your body hasn't fully recovered yet, so don't provoke them....." Ellie opened timidly, not wanting him to be hurt again.
As if he hadn't heard, Loras walked steadily towards the three knights in the corner.
"Where's the little bastard, get out of the way, or you'll die too!" one of the leader-looking knights let the boy down, drew his sword and pointed at Lorras and yelled viciously.
The boy quickly got up from the ground, rushed to Rodlis's side as if he had greased the soles of his feet, and hugged the magic apprentice to death, after all, he looked much stronger than Film.
Enraged, the knight leaned forward and quickly stabbed the short sword in his hand into Loras's chest!
The young swordsman saw the posture of the comer, smiled disdainfully, turned slightly sideways, saw the opportunity to grab the man's arm, raised his leg and kicked the opponent's chest, and Fei Lin heard the sound of bones breaking. In great pain, the knight took off the dagger in his hand and flew out, plunging deep into the stake beside him.
Loras took the opportunity to slam the knight in the chest, and the other party immediately spurted out a mouthful of blood, and his body fell backwards again and again.
Before he could react, Loras's right hand was already pinching his neck in the next second, "A tooth for a tooth, you remember it for me!"
The knight's previous arrogant look was long gone, and Zhang Hong's face was full of horror at this moment.
The other two were shocked, one of them brandished his sword in both hands and roared towards Loras, while the other quickly lowered his head and reloaded his crossbow bolts and aimed them at Loras's head.
The arrow "swished——! screeched through the air, and Loras grasped the flying crossbow arrow in his hand!
The two knights, who were good at melee combat, had fallen to the ground, and the battle was nearing its end. Loras moved, teleported behind the archer, and knocked him unconscious with an elbow blow.
Filin and Rodrith watched the scene in front of them in amazement, and immediately understood that the reason why Loras had been defeated repeatedly was only because the opponent was too strong.
Loras patted the dust off her body and turned to walk over to the boy.
The boy was a head shorter than Loras, his curly blond hair was a sign of nobility, and Filin noticed that he was wearing a dark green ring on his right hand.
"Thank you so much, big brother, you're amazing!" the boy rubbed his aching neck and looked up at Loras with adoring eyes.
"Why are they chasing you?" asked Ellie, confused.
"I don't know about this, maybe I sneaked away from my family to the south. Film, apparently not quite believing him, was about to follow up.
"Why did you run away from home alone?" Loras's mind was also full of questions.
However, the boy's answer always felt like they were running away from something.
"My name is Byron, and I'm a bard!" said the boy with pride.
"Bard?" asked Rodrith curiously, too.
"To put it simply, my duty is to adapt the heroic deeds into poems and travel to every corner of the continent!"
Fei Lin couldn't help but feel embarrassed when he heard this, this kid is really an idealist.
"I'll get a good night's sleep, and then I'll leave for the next town the next morning. Byron yawned, his face tired.
The innkeeper saw that the troublesome knight had been easily dealt with by Loras, and then he cowered and walked out of the counter.
"That...... What do you need?" the boss's face trembled slightly.
