Chapter 205: Breakthrough (Part II)
"We need to get out of here. He paused and said slowly. He looked at Elistan, who was staring at the pile of rubble, his face very pale. "What about the others?"
"It's all in there. Elistan said in a trembling voice. "Half-elf—"
"Robert?"
"Yes. Before the dragon could attack the inn, he broke in through the back door. They were all huddled together, right in the middle of the house.
I was standing in the doorway and Robert saw the roof beams breaking, and he immediately pushed Lolana over.
I held her up, and then the whole building collapsed, they couldn't-"
"I don't believe it!" Hubble angrily jumped onto the pile of rubble. Stone grabbed him and pulled him back.
"What about Wade?" the knight asked the dwarf sternly.
The dwarf's face sank. "Crushed under Duzi," he said with a grim face.
He frantically ruffled with his hair and knocked his helmet off. "I have to go back and save him.
But I can't live without Calamon—" The dwarf began to weep, tears falling on his beard.
"I need him, big stupid cow! He can't do this to me! Robert too!" the dwarf cursed loudly. "Damn, I need them!"
Stone reached out and patted Hubble on the shoulder, "Go to Wade's side, he needs you now, dragons are running around the streets, we won't-"
Lorana screamed, the sound of fear, fear piercing Stone through Stone's eardrums like an arrow. He turned around and grabbed her, stopping her from lunging into the rubble.
"Lorana!" he shouted. "Look at it! look at it!" he shook her vigorously.
"No one can escape!"
"You don't understand!" she yelled at him, breaking free of his restraints. She lay on the ground, trying to lift a blackened stone.
"Robert!" but the stone was so heavy that she could only lift a few inches.
Stone watched painfully, not knowing what to do. Then he heard the answer.
Thousands, hundreds, horns, horns, sounded, getting closer and closer. The Great Army has invaded. He looked at Elistan, who nodded helplessly. The two rushed towards Lorana.
"My dear. Elistan said softly, "You can't help them right now." The living still need you. Your brother is wounded, and so are the Kanders.
The army of dragonmen came again at this time. We must get out of here now, save our lives to fight these damn monsters, and mourn!
Robert sacrificed himself to save you, don't let his sacrifice be meaningless!"
Lolana looked at him, her face covered in a ridiculous pattern of black smoke, dust, tears and blood.
She heard the sound of the trumpet, she heard the wailing of Gilsenas, she heard Hubble shouting that Tysokov was dying, and she heard Elistan's words.
It rained in the sky, and the snow melted from the flames of the dragon and turned into droplets of water from the sky.
The rain hit her face, cooling her hot skin.
"Stone, help me up. She said reluctantly with almost stiff lips. He helped her to her feet. Her mind was groggy and chaotic.
"Lorana!" her brother cried. Elistan was right when he said that the living still need her.
She got to go with him. Although she would rather die on this pile of rubble, she had to live.
That's what Robert wants her to do. They need her, and she has to support her.
"Goodbye, Tancellus. She whispered.
The rain intensified and fell from the sky like cotton wool. The gods weep for the beautiful Tassis.
The water kept dripping on his head. The condition is cold and unpleasant. Rodrith tried to roll over and avoid the annoying droplet.
But he couldn't move, and it seemed that he was carrying a thousand pounds of weight on his body. He was terrified and tried to escape the nightmare. Fear brought him to his senses.
As soon as reason is restored, the fear disappears. Rhodelis regained control of what he had learned, forcing himself to observe the situation before him.
Nothing can be seen. With no fingers around him, he was forced to rely on his other senses.
But he had to move the weight off his body first. He was about to be overwhelmed.
He moved his arm carefully, there was no particular pain, and it seemed that there were no broken bones.
Raising his hand, he touched a man: this was Karamon, as you could guess from the armor he was wearing and the smell. He should have known about it a long time ago.
With all his strength, Rodrith pushed his brother aside and crawled out from under him.
Now the mage can breathe more easily, and he first wipes the water from his face.
Touching his brother's neck in the dark, measuring his pulse, it was very stable, his breathing was smooth, and his skin was still warm.
Rodrith lay down on the floor with peace of mind, at least someone to accompany him, no matter where he was now.
Where was he? Rodrith struggled to recall the last thing he remembered. He remembered that the roof beams were starting to break and Robert pushed Lolana out of the way.
He remembered that he had exhausted his strength and cast one last spell, which had converted the energy in his body into a shield that could block other physical attacks.
He remembered Calamon shielding him with his body, the whole building falling on top of them, and then the feeling of falling. Fall......
Ahh We must have fallen from the ground floor to the cellar.
Groping with the stone floor, the mage realized he was soaking wet. Eventually, he found the staff of Martes he was looking for. Its crystal ball is not damaged in the slightest.
This treasure was given to him by Pasarian in the Tower of the Masters, and only Dragon Flame could damage it.
"Schlack," Rodlis whispered, and the staff shone brightly. He sat up straight and looked around.
Yes, he was right. They were in the basement of the hotel. Broken bottles scattered wine all over the floor.
The barrel containing the ale had been split in half, and the liquid around him didn't appear to be exactly water.
The mage illuminates every corner with his staff. Robert, Riverwind, Scarlet Moon, and Lena are all here, and they're all crowded around Calamon. He glanced at them quickly, and it seemed that nothing was wrong.
They were surrounded by all sorts of rubble, and half of the broken beams fell to the ground.
Rodrith smiled, that spell was a masterpiece. They owe him another favor.
But that also has to be if we don't freeze to death, he returns to reality to remind himself.
He was shaking, barely holding the staff of Marzis, and began to cough. He's going to die, and everyone has to find a way to get out. "Robert. He shook the half-elf.
Robert lies in the outermost layer of Rodrith's magic shield. He muttered to himself, his whole body twitching.
Rodrith shook him again, and the half-elf shouted reflexively, covering his head with his arm.
"It's okay Robert, it's safe. Rodrith coughed under his breath. "Wake up. ”
"What?" said Robert, sitting up quickly and looking around. "We're in—" and he remembered. "Lorana?"
"Gone. Rodrith shrugged. "You pushed her to safety—"
"I remembered......" Robert lay down. "I heard you say some incantation, too—"
"That's why we weren't crushed. Rodris clung to his soaked satiety and approached Robert, who was looking around in confusion.
"What the hell are we in—"
"We are in the cellar of the inn," said the mage. "The floor collapsed, so we fell here. ”
Robert looked up and said, "Oh my God!" he said in surprise.
"Yes. Rodrith followed Robert's gaze. "We were buried alive. ”
Beneath the ruins of the Red Dragon Inn, everyone began to think about their situation, and they didn't look very optimistic.
Scarlet Moon healed their minor injuries: thanks to Rodrith's spells. But they had no idea how long they had been unconscious underneath and what was going on outside.
To make matters worse, they don't know how to escape.
Calamon carefully tried to move the stones above his head, but the whole pile of rubble seemed to start shaking and falling.
Rodrith immediately reminded him that he didn't have the energy to cast spells to protect them, and Robert tiredly told the big man to stop what he was doing. The waters around them began to accumulate deeper and deeper.
The only difference, as River Wind said, is how they will die: without oxygen, freeze to death, crush to death from rubble, or drown.
"We can shout for help. Lena suggested with a shudder.
"Then one more thing can be added: slaughtered by the dragonmen. Rodlis said. "They're the only creatures up there who can hear you. ”
Lena blushed and quickly rubbed her eyes with her hands, and Calamon glanced at her brother and took Lena into her arms. Rodrith looked at both of them with disgust.
"I didn't hear anything from above. Robert said confusedly.
"Everyone should think of an army of dragonmen—" He paused, Calamon meeting his gaze, and the two warriors nodded slowly.
"What?" asked Scarlet Moon, looking at them.
"We are already in the enemy's territory. Calamon said. "The army of the dragons has taken over the entire city, and probably a radius of dozens of miles in the vicinity. Even if we can escape, there is no way out. ”
As if to emphasize the facts, they heard a noise above their heads.
The dragonman language they had long been familiar with had been passed through the rubble.
"I told you it was a waste of time. Another goblin voice said in a broken lingua franca, "There won't be anyone alive in this pile of ruins." ”
"You dog-eating guys, go tell the Dragoon yourself!" roared the dragonman, "I'm sure he's interested in your advice, or his dragon will be interested in it too."
An order is an order, and everybody immediately started digging for me!"
There was the sound of digging and stones being dragged away. Dirt and dust began to fall down the crevices.
The roof beams made a screeching sound, but they held on.
Everyone looked at each other, barely daring to make a sound of breathing. Everyone remembered the strange dragonmen who attacked the inn.
"Someone is following us. Rodlis once said.
"What are we looking for in the rubble?" asked one goblin in his own language, "silver coins, jewelry?"
Both Robert and Calamon knew some goblin language, and they listened carefully.
"Neither!" said the goblin who commanded first. "It's a spy or some dragoon general who wants to interrogate him personally. ”
"In here?" the goblin asked in surprise.
"That's what I'm asking!" his companion yelled. "You see what happened to me now.
The lizardmen said they had been surrounded inside the inn, but no one escaped after the Red Dragon destroyed the entire building, so the dragoons would have deduced that they were still inside.
If you ask me what I think: those stupid dragons messed things up, and we're going to have to wipe their asses now. ”
The sounds of digging and goblin conversations grew clearer and clearer, with the occasional sound of dragonmen calling the shots. There might be fifty guys up there!, Robert thought, shocked.
River Breeze quickly picked the sword out of the water and began to dry it. Calamon's usually happy face was clouded, and he let go of Lena and began to pick up his sword.
Robert's weapon is gone, and River Wind throws him a dagger. Lena picked up her sword as well, and Robert shook his head.
They will be fighting in an enclosed space, and Lena will need a lot of space. The half-elf looked at Rodlis with a questioning expression.
The mage shook his head, "I'll give it a try." He whispered. "But I'm so tired, very tired. I couldn't think, I couldn't concentrate. He lowered his head and trembled violently.
He tried his best not to cough so as not to leak their location.
A single spell can probably bring Rodrith down. But he was probably luckier than the others, at least he wouldn't be captured alive.
The voices above them grew louder and louder. Goblins are a group of workers who are strong and do not feel tired easily.
They just want to get rid of the work here and go back to collecting the loot.
Everyone waited quietly below. A pile of dirt mixed with rainwater poured down from the opening. Everyone clenched their weapons, and it wasn't long before they were discovered.
Suddenly, a new voice came from outside. They heard the goblins screaming in fear, and the dragonmen yelled at them, ordering them to go back to work.
But they could hear shovels, shovels on the ground, and dragonmen cursing, and it seemed that all the goblins had begun to flee.
Then there was a clear, shrill whistling overhead, and the same echo could be heard farther away, sounding like the call of an eagle soaring over the plains, except that it was coming over them.
First, there was a scream, the voice of a dragonman.
Then there was a creepy sound, as if the guy had been torn in half.
More screams, the sound of steel clashing, another whistling, a closer response this time.
"What the hell is this?" Calamon asked, wide-eyed. "This is not a dragon. It sounds like — like a giant bird of prey!"
"Whatever it is, the dragonmen are being attacked mercilessly by it!" said Scarlet Moon in surprise.
Soon all the sounds died down, and the silence made everyone feel even more worried.
Could it be that a new evil force has descended?
