Chapter 10: Returning Home
In the Grey Tower, there are only two types of names between people. That is, the name used to introduce oneself to others and the address used by others when talking about that person. The two titles are often related but not identical, after all, the apprentices of the Grey Tower never intersect with each other by their real names, even if their teacher is the first Grey Robe, Clark's name without a surname or suffix is also his own name, and no one knows what his real name is. Therefore, the jeweler and sleepy worm mentioned by the cursed crow are naturally not official names.
Cheese had heard of both men, and the jeweler was one of the Greytower's early adult apprentices, so he wasn't very clear about this person, only that the wizard's field of expertise was related to gems and minerals. However, it is very dangerous for a spellcaster who is still in the prime of life to guess his abilities with a vague impression, just as the cursed crow did not use spells to tame animals or even dragons five years ago, but even if he was standing on the frozen ground of the north at this time, there were still hairy servants in the mansion of the Far Lookout to serve Rin.
As for the sleepy bug, this man made a much deeper impression on the cheese. This man was probably around the time of the Curse Raven, and was one of the late adult apprentices in the Grey Tower, but the age and method of his adult mission were different from most of the Grey Robes. And this is not to say that this person has easily completed the adult trial at a young age, the complex and diverse training of the Gray Tower is destined not to produce such a genius, even if someone can remember all the books in the Gray Tower at a glance and never forget it is useless, most of the casters are empiricists, knowledge without experience and experience is knowledge that is not grasped, and then it is knowledge that is not enough to be believed, and there is no so-called theoretical school in the genealogy of the Gray Tower.
The peculiarity of the sleepy bug is that it takes him much more time than a normal grey robe to complete his pre-adult training. In other words, in terms of age, he should have been one of the early adults in the gray robes, but because he was unable to meet the requirements of the Lord of the Gray Tower for a long time, he slowly dragged on to complete his trial before and after the curse crow. But that's not to say that Sleepy Worm doesn't have enough talent or hard work, because if one of the two problems exists, he won't be able to survive his education in the Grey Tower until that time. The fact that he was able to qualify for the Trials of Adulthood and finally complete them shows that the Lord of the Grey Tower recognizes his abilities and achievements, which means that it is not the negative factors that hinder his coming of age, but the fact that the field of magic he studied is too special.
Dreams, or the world after sleeping, the Greyrobes probably think so about the magical realm that the Sleepy Worm excels at. But that's all they know about this fellow disciple, and they don't even know much about the sound and appearance of the sleepy insect, and the reason is simple, because this person doesn't spend much time awake every day. The way he completed the trial of adulthood was so astonishing that it was unbelievable to all the grey-robed apprentices who followed him, and he slept in his room for ten days before receiving the emblem.
It stands to reason that such a special spellcaster should not leave the Grey Tower even after he became an adult, but he resolutely said goodbye to Clark after the day he obtained the emblem, and there has been little news since. The disciples are not worried about his safety, but with this ability, it is not impossible to sleep for ten or eight years and forget where he is. This is also reflected in the name of the sleepy bug, the sleeper, which is what he calls himself.
"Forget about the jeweler, you actually know the traces of the magic of the sleepy bug, I have hardly ever seen him use magic. Cheese said to the crow as he searched for the entrance to the right path.
The sorcerer glanced at him, "Actually, he's not as mysterious as you think. No, maybe he's one of the most mysterious of us, depending on which angle you analyze his field. Anyway, I had dealt with him by chance before I was an adult, and I know a little bit more about his magic than you do. Let me say that although the jeweler came of age relatively early, the sleepy bug is the real tricky one. When I was young, I had already consciously started to collect information from my fellow disciples, but I am afraid that what I collected was far inferior to his. ”
The mage frowned slightly, he couldn't quite understand why the cursed crow had such a high opinion of the sleepy bug, but with the other party's rigor, it seemed that there was no possibility of self-humility. In this regard, Cheese can only understand that the magic field that Sleepy Worm is good at supports him to easily obtain information about his surroundings. This is very useful information, and whether the rumors are true or not, the Sleepy Bug can probably be treated as an important source of information. The only question is how to find this fellow disciple who has gone deep and simple.
That was after entering the Gray Tower, and the top priority for the two of them at this time was to open the road to the Gray Tower. In this respect, Cheese is much faster than Raven, and while the latter is searching for clues, the Mage is already calculating, and even that aside, Cheese is better at this kind of knowledge than Raven. "Here. He walked up to a snow-covered rock seemingly casually and gestured with his finger over the snow. Strange to say, the snow on the tundra had already squeezed against each other, and although it did not turn into ice, it was much harder, but Cheese's fingers reached into it without hindrance, and it went straight to the whole root.
The Raven heard the call and approached, and then saw that an inexplicable pattern had been drawn on the snow. It was a map of the trajectory of the stars, but the spellcaster didn't know exactly which star, and everyone knocked on the door differently, which also applies here.
"Woo!" the howling wind blew from behind the two of them, almost lifting them off the ground and into the air. They subconsciously raised their arms and covered their heads with their robes to block the snowflakes mixed in the cold wind. By the time the wind had passed, there was no snow left on the rocks where Cheese had drawn the star chart. A winding path that has just emerged is shaped out and leads to the center of the hill.
"Let's go, let's go home. With that, Cheese took the lead on the trail. As the two greys stepped onto the trail, a breeze blew behind them, blowing down the snow on both sides of the road, erasing all traces of the trail. Even with the snowflakes in the wind, the backs of the two could no longer be seen outside the hills, and only the gray tower in the distance was still erected.
And in the stargazing room at the top of the tower, the lady who sat the only seat in the room lowered her wine glass. Her gaze passed through the wind and snow, focusing accurately on the one in front of the two figures, and the corners of her mouth showed a hint of joy that could then turn into a faint sorrow. "You shouldn't have come back at this time. She sighed softly.
"Boom!" the door to the stargazing room opened with an explosion, and a gray-robed figure walked into the room.
"I don't remember allowing you to set foot here, or have you forgotten the rules for surviving in this tower?"
