Chapter 63: The Tumbledown Alley Experience
"See you at Hogwarts!" The tall but poor Hagrid was finally freed from Mrs. Weasley's grasp, and he hurried away, but did not forget to wave goodbye to the crowd.
He was a head and a shoulder taller than everyone on the street, and he stood out from the crowd.
"Guess who I saw in the Borgin Burke store?"
As he walked up the steps of Gringotts, Harry told his friends with a mysterious look on his face. "Malfoy and his dad!"
Harry began to recall the experience that had not been pleasant or novel:
When he got up from the cold ground, he sadly found that he had gone to the wrong place.
But it must have been because he had eaten too much in the morning, which made him nauseous and dizzy, and Harry secretly made up his mind that the next time he used Floo.com, he would eat less in advance.
He scuffled to his feet and held the shattered glasses up to his eyes, so that he could finally see what he saw, but what it was, it was not within his grasp.
He felt as if he was standing in front of the stone fireplace of a spacious, dimly lit wizarding shop, but it seemed unlikely that anything here might be on the Hogwarts school shopping list.
He looked around and saw a withered human hand, a stack of bloodstained cards, and a dull glass eyeball on a mat in a glass box next to him.
Hideous masks peer down the walls, various human bones lay on the counters, and rusty, tooth-like instruments hung from the ceiling.
To make matters worse, Harry could tell that the dark, narrow alley outside the dusty shop window was certainly not Diagon Alley.
Harry muttered, "Get out of here as soon as possible!" His nose was still burning with pain, but he didn't dare to linger too long, and quickly and lightly walked towards the door.
But things often don't work out that way, and before he's halfway there, two people appear outside the door, one of whom is none other than Harry's little friend: Draco Malfoy.
The man behind him looked like his father, as he had a pointed face as pale as Malfoy's and blond hair.
He happily wanted to say hello to Malfoy, but he saw Mr. Malfoy with a cold face on the side, and it seemed that he was very unhappy?
It dawned on him that his current image was not suitable for meeting Malfoy's family.
And Mr. Malfoy doesn't seem to be in a very good mood either, if he thinks I'm a sloppy kid, will he let Malfoy stay away from him?
Harry quickly looked around and saw a large black cabinet on his left, so he dodged into it, and closed the door, leaving only a thin slit. Seconds later, the bell rang and Malfoy and his father walked into the store.
Mr. Malfoy walked through the store, lazily looking at the items on display, rang the bell on the counter, then turned to his son and said, "Don't touch anything, Draco." ”
Malfoy was about to reach out and touch the glass eyeball, when he said aggrievedly, "I thought you were going to buy me a gift." ”
"I mean, I'm going to buy you a broom for competition. His father said as he tapped his finger on the counter.
"What's the use of buying a broom if I'm not a member of the academy team?" Malfoy huffed, "Harry got a Halo 2000 last year, and Dumbledore gave him permission to compete for Gryffindor House.
I'll admit he's great, but I don't think I'm going to be worse than him! The Seeker in our house is like a blind man, and I'll be able to beat Gryffindor!"
Malfoy said as he bent down to examine the skulls full of shelves.
"You've told me at least ten times," Mr. Malfoy said, glancing at his son, to stop him from any further, "I would like to remind you that, in principle, a young wizard in the first year is not allowed to compete in Quidditch.
Rather than these pointless complaints, you should think more about why you weren't chosen by Severus to Quidditch early! Ah, Mr. Borgin. ”
Just as Lucius was teaching his ignorant stupid son, a hunched man appeared behind the counter, his hands running back his shiny hair.
"Mr. Malfoy, it is a pleasure to see you again. Mr. Borgin said in a tone as smooth as his hair,
"It's a great pleasure to have you here, and Master Malfoy, welcome. What can I do for you? I'll have to show you, the ...... I just got in today."
"I'm not buying anything today, Mr. Borgin, I'm here to sell. Mr. Malfoy hurriedly stopped Mr. Borgin's pitch.
"Selling?" Mr. Borgin, who was originally smiling, had a slight decrease in the smile on his face after hearing Lucius's words.
"You've probably heard that the ministry has stepped up its inspections recently. Mr. Malfoy said, pulling out a roll of parchment from the inside pocket of his coat and unfolding it for Mr. Borgin.
"I have some things at home that may cause me inconvenience, so if the ministry comes ......," Mr. Borgin put on a pair of pinched glasses, looked down at the list, and then ignored what Lucius said next.
"I don't think the ministry is going to bother you, sir?" Mr. Borgin interrupted Lucius's next remark, and Mr. Malfoy pursed his lips before shutting his mouth.
Malfoy looked at his father curiously, he had never seen him so careful with anyone, it seemed that this Mr. Borgin was not simple.
"I haven't been here yet, and Malfoy's name still has a bit of prestige, but the ministry is getting more and more nosy. It is said that a new Muggle Protection Law will be introduced, and I think the Ministry's attitude towards Muggles is obviously wrong!"
"Can you show me that?" Draco asked Mr. Bogin, gesturing at the withered human hand on the mat.
"Ah, the glorious hand!" Seeing that there seemed to be a business, Mr. Borgin immediately dropped Mr. Malfoy's list and ran to Draco.
"Put a candle in it, and only the person who holds it can see the light! It is the best friend of thieves and robbers!Your son has a good eye, sir. ”
"I wish my son had a little better than thieves and robbers, Bogin. Mr. Malfoy was so upset when he heard that he didn't even need to use him, and said coldly.
Mr. Borgin immediately said, "I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean that. ”
"But if his grades don't improve," said Mr. Malfoy, in a more cold tone, "he may have only done those things." ”
"It's not my fault," Draco retorted, "Rolfe is too good to ......"
"Aren't you good friends? Why can't he be first, but I can't find you in front? Can't you ask him more?
Besides, apart from Scamander, a Muggle-born wizard can be far ahead, and you always have an excuse!" Mr. Malfoy said angrily.
"Haha!" Seeing Draco's embarrassed and annoyed look, Harry almost laughed out loud, it turned out that Malfoy's classmate, who had always been very elegant and easy-going, and showed an aristocratic temperament, was actually like this?
