Chapter 951: Fanatical Faith

Every dervish is a fanatical believer in the Buddha.

Faith refers to the belief and respect for a certain idea, doctrine, religion or to someone or something, and to enshrine it as its own code of conduct;

Lan Jiechen looked at most of the dirty, sour, rancid ascetics around him and was very opposed, a person can't live without faith, but faith is not like this, this is an unhealthy faith, except for the six shining people, the beliefs of other ascetics here are poisonous.

The most ridiculous thing is that true Buddhism believes that everyone's destiny is in their own hands, with the belief in Buddhahood as the core content. Buddhism does not actually promote superstition and fanatical beliefs, on the contrary, Buddhism opposes superstition and focuses on good and evil.

It is just to use karmic karma to extend the law of reality to the three reincarnations, to connect everything in it so that people can have a sense of awe, and achieve supernatural, spiritual sustenance yearning for liberation.

In fact, faith is a product of the heart, not a religion or a political party, which only plays the role of a catalyst. There is no religion or political party, and people can have faith as well.

Faith is an individual's conscious behavior, and it is difficult for a belief established by a collective belief to last long, and a belief established by a collective belief will disappear with the disintegration of a certain religion, political party, or organization. The content of faith is varied and strange.

The belief in the unity of heaven and man, the belief in God, the belief in Buddhism, the belief in Taoism, the obsession and worship of power, status, money, reputation, beauty, etc. are also beliefs, as are beliefs such as "having fun in time", "being a monk for a day and ringing the bell for a day", and "getting by".

Faith is a kind of soul-like love and love, and it is one of the most basic human emotions. Beliefs are often detached from reality, so gods, deceased loved ones, or human soul-led teams, nations, religions, etc.

Here we can see that the state and religion are a kind of culture developed by people's beliefs -- national culture and religious culture, and that the most fundamental thing is a kind of love that arises from the same kind of people who are based on their own sameness, through people's emotions. The infinite craving that the brain inspires.

Belief is not the same as faith, belief is something or something you believe in, and faith is the mark of people's souls. Extreme belief and respect for a certain idea, doctrine, religion, someone or something, and use it as a guide or example for one's own actions.

However, faith is seldom addressed to people, and religion is not an object of belief. Rather, it is an expression of faith, and the form cannot be an object of faith.

Faith is where your trust lies. Unlike trust, faith is also where your value lies.

The shining light of those six people is also the light of faith, the bright and brilliant light of faith.

Faith is a set of fundamental beliefs that people have in life that are long-standing and must be defended. No matter how far the civilization of cultivation has developed, the finitude of human beings will not change, although we know much more than people did before the ancient times, and with the increase of knowledge, progress has been made in the understanding of some issues. But new perversities arise, and little progress has been made on some issues, such as the fear of death, which is the ultimate problem of life.

Practice, become stronger, become a god, become a Buddha, began to become a major melody.

Man is in the gap between the known and the unknown, between the finite and the infinite. Compared to their ancestors, the reduction may not be as great as imagined. In this chasm. It gives birth to both hope and fear, which gives birth to space for faith.

Human beings will always need faith, and we must rely on faith to try to bring the finite and the infinite closer.

Therefore, faith is different from what people generally call faith. Faith answers the deepest aspects of life's daily concerns. The object of faith is also the object of worship, and everything in the realm of human experience is finite. There is also only a limited value, and these things that only have a limited value are difficult to use as objects of faith.

Faith is for transcendence, beyond all limitations, and only the infinity beyond reality can truly become the hope of making up for man's own limitations. The truth of God and Buddha is the transcendent truth that human beings have found, and the belief in God and Buddha is not comparable to any empirical proposition.

A great sage once said, "I don't believe in the existence of 'gods'. Not believing in karma, so that people become fearless and shameless. Usually we associate these mystical spiritual beings with religion, and believing in 'gods' is the same as believing in religion, which is not true.

Everyone can believe in 'God' independently, no matter what this 'God' is called, as long as it is not human himself, as long as he is always in your heart, you don't even have to go to the dojo and the monastery, no matter where you are, 'God' is with you, which depends on a person's deep inner self-awareness, and of course this is also the highest state of faith.

Religion is not superstition, nor is it an attempt to explore the mystery of spiritual life, but it tells us about the experiences of some sages who taught people to live in the world and the many efforts they made to achieve this.

Suppose that human beings are created by "gods", and that each person has his or her own divinity, and that this divinity is universal, and that in order for this divinity to manifest, it is necessary for man to change in his own nature in order to realize it—such as some Taoist priests who are isolated from the world, monks who are far away from the world, practitioners who diligently pursue the truth, and so on.

Only they are more likely to be able to approach the 'gods' and have the opportunity to communicate with the 'gods', and they have always believed that human beings have a desire to survive, that although human beings will die, their souls will not perish, and that a person's soul is the essence of human life, and that only after going through a strict process of 'reckoning' and under the guidance of the 'gods' will it be reborn with new life.

This is not only a Buddhist statement, but also a statement of many religions, although the differences between each person in terms of spirit and body, interests and talents, temperament and physique are obvious, but in the most profound spiritual level of human spirit, people are the same.

Why have the traditions of many ancient forces, races, families, religions, etc., continued to this day, and what these forces preached was a truth, and this truth was the Word of God, which was an eternal and fundamental wisdom.

It is a pity that in the course of history, this wisdom has been deceived and distorted by people with ulterior motives, and even used it to achieve their own various goals, so that the original pure religion has become a mixture. Confusion and ambiguity have also led to the collapse of many people's original firm beliefs, and people have begun to doubt religious beliefs, gradually changing from conscious beliefs to passive traditional beliefs.

Today, the hundreds of millions of ascetics in the Buddha country are the best example.

Moral life is a social phenomenon that accompanies the development of human beings, and faith is the cornerstone that supports moral life, and it is the basic condition of existence that is inseparable from the survival of human beings. It fundamentally determines the scope, level, and manner of human moral practice.

Faith not only gives morality the nature and meaning of self-discipline, but also is the spiritual pillar of people and the coordinate of moral choice.

Faith can not only improve people's moral realm, but also shape people's moral personality.

Faith is not only the driving force for moral behavior, but also the "guiding light" on the road of life.

From the moment of enlightenment, the world broke its previous peace and began to change quietly, and later, this change became obvious and rapid. The world that used to be spontaneous has undergone more and more enlightenment and change, and the practice is full of the principles of heaven and earth.

Why are there only creatures after enlightenment? The more intelligent the beings, the more powerful they are, just like the gods. Rather than other creatures that have changed the world so dramatically, the key to being different from other creatures is that they have a very high consciousness. This awareness allows them to observe the world and reflect on themselves.

It is precisely this consciousness that has given rise to faith almost from the enlightenment of all souls. Where there are, so to speak, there are people. There is faith. So how does faith happen?

Indeed, the nobility of man compared to other living beings lies in his ability to think. Thoughts are both noble and painful. From the time when people realize that death is their destiny and cannot be avoided. Pain arises.

What is death? Where do people go after they die? Is that place eerie or is it the smell of birds and flowers? These questions become questions that intelligent beings need to think about often when they are facing death. At that time, reality could not provide a clear answer, and faith was born.

The "cycle of life and death" in the religious belief component. "Redemption from death" and the philosophical concept of "physical decay, spiritual immortality" all provide different people with the spiritual strength to face death and conquer death.

The consciousness and thinking ability possessed by intelligent beings make questioning the most common spiritual appeal of intelligent beings. Where did we come from, what did the world look like in the first place, and these questions become the eternal confusion of intelligent beings.

Therefore, the pursuit of the world as it is, the search for the origin of the world, is regarded as an eternal mission by intelligent beings. This spirit of inquiry became the root cause of the occurrence of faith.

From the day of birth, intelligent beings are confronted with both biological and spiritual regulations. On the one hand, intelligent beings have the same basic physiological needs as other animals, and on the other hand, intelligent beings have spiritual value pursuits.

As a direct embodiment of this value pursuit, intelligent beings often ask themselves, "What am I living for?" which is what we often call the goal and meaning of life.

Other animals can live their animal life in peace: breeding, living, and dying, but once intelligent beings lose their spiritual support, physical survival becomes painful and unsustainable. Thus, suicide is almost unimaginable in other animals, but it becomes a way for intelligent beings to choose death.

This reflection on the meaning of life makes faith possible, and whatever the answer is, this need of intelligent beings is inevitable.

The life of an intelligent being is full of uncertainties, on the one hand, we cannot predict what the future will bring, and on the other hand, we have to face the unexpected. The so-called "there are unpredictable circumstances in the sky, and people have good and bad luck", uncertainty almost goes hand in hand with life. Why do some people come out of a prosperous house, while others live on the streets?

Why is it that some people have smooth sailing and some people have bad fate? Why do some people survive the same disaster while others suffer misfortune? There are so many episodes of life that it seems difficult to find a reasonable explanation.

Once this uncertainty occurs, intelligent beings need reasons that can be reasonably explained, explanations that give people the strength to face and accept, but reasonable is not necessarily the truth, and the truth is not necessarily reasonable.

The preciousness of the consciousness of intelligent beings also lies in their clear awareness of their own shortcomings, so they continue to practice to make themselves stronger and explore more unknown things. Intelligent beings often feel small in the face of the mysterious and unpredictable universe, and even feel helpless and limited and deficient in the conflict between self-desire and reason, which makes intelligent beings doubt and confused themselves.

How to transcend the finite, break through the void and become a god, become a Buddha on the ground, and move towards eternity, how to make up for the defects, attain perfection, and become another spiritual demand of intelligent beings.

Therefore, intelligent beings need faith to establish a value goal for themselves: to create the perfect hero or to create a beautiful "afterlife". In this way, intelligent beings can strengthen their beliefs in life and establish a way forward.

Thought is a valuable mark that distinguishes intelligent beings from other beings. All the activities of intelligent beings involve the mind. The occurrence of thoughts is based on the individual's own perception of the world around him, and is fundamentally oriented to the individual's destiny. To put it simply, through the activity of the mind, individuals become aware of their relationship with the world around them.

For example, who am I, what is my state of being in the world as a whole? And the result of this thinking inevitably leads to expectations of oneself: What kind of person do I want to be, what do I desire to get?

The result of thinking is the emergence of a gap between expectations and reality. This disparity can cause mental anguish, and although the degree of reaction to it will vary from person to person, it is at least certain that it is not an easy feeling.

For example, if your expectation is to become a pilot one day, the achievement of this expectation is a long-term process that cannot be achieved immediately, requiring physical training, knowledge accumulation, passing various examinations and selections, etc., then the gap between the expectation and the reality will cause stress, unhappiness and even pain when the demand has not yet been realized.

If we want to eliminate these sufferings, we must take action to achieve our goals. It turns out that firm and sustained action requires great moral support, and that is faith.

After the thought triggers suffering, people often look for spiritual power that can give a reasonable explanation or point out the way out in the future, so as to alleviate the pain and provide a clear direction for life, and this spiritual power is faith.

Different people will choose different beliefs: some people choose to believe in religion, some people choose to believe in science, and some people choose to believe in reason...... No matter how different the beliefs are, the attitude of the believers towards the faith is the same, that is, the content of the faith is regarded as the supreme principle that governs all aspects of life, and all activities are directed towards following this principle.

All people have their own thoughts and expectations, but there are only a few people who make their dreams come true, and the key difference is whether they have strong beliefs or not. Because once a person has faith, he has great spiritual power, and this power is embodied in the action of never giving up.

People with faith will be very clear about their life direction and value pursuit, which also makes them indomitable and never give up no matter what setbacks and difficulties they face. (To be continued.) )
