Uncle Tian
Ziqing, a native of Zhao Guocheng, a minister in the early Han Dynasty, his ancestors were descendants of the Qi Guotian clan.
Uncle Tian likes swordsmanship, and once learned the doctrines of Huang and Lao from him at the residence of Le Jugong. Uncle Tian is a tough and honest person, and he is proud of this, and likes to travel with those who are highly respected.
Zhao Guoren recommended him to Zhao Xiang Zhao Wu, and Zhao Wu praised him from Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, and the king of Zhao appointed him as Langzhong.
After serving for a few years, he was upright, honest and fair, and although King Zhao appreciated him, he did not have time to promote him.
It is recorded in "Historical Records: The Biography of the Goods and Colonies" that Uncle Tian made a fortune by robbing tombs.
It happened that Chen Feng rebelled in Daidi, in the seventh year of the Han Dynasty (200 years ago), Gaozu went to punish him, passing through Zhao State, Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, personally served a plate of food, and the etiquette was very respectful, but Han Gaozu arrogantly stretched out his legs and sat and scolded him.
At that time, Zhao Xiang Zhao Wu and dozens of others were angry about this, and said to Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao: "You serve the emperor with complete and thorough etiquette, and treat you like this, we ask for rebellion." ”
King Zhao bit his finger and bled out, saying: "My father has lost the country, without Your Majesty, we will die and the corpse will be maggots and no one will collect the body, how can you say such a thing?" Say no more! ”
So Guan Gao said: "King Zhao is a loyal elder and refuses to turn his back on the emperor's kindness. "They plotted with each other to kill the emperor in private.
It just so happened that the matter was discovered, and the Han Dynasty ordered the arrest of King Zhao and the rebellious ministers.
So Zhao Wu and the others committed suicide, and only Guan Gaoyuan was imprisoned.
At this time, Emperor Gao issued another edict saying: "The State of Zhao has the sin and the three clans that dare to follow King Zhao into Beijing. Only Meng Shu, Tian Shu and more than a dozen other people wore russet prison clothes, shaved off their own hair, and carried torture instruments around their necks, pretending to be the domestic slaves of King Zhao followed Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, to Chang'an.
Guan Gao and others found out about the rebellion, and Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, was released from prison and deposed as the Marquis of Xuanping, so he recommended and praised Uncle Tian and more than a dozen others.
The emperor summoned all of them and talked to them, and when he thought that none of the ministers in the court could surpass them, the emperor was very happy, and appointed them all as county guards or ministers of state.
Uncle Tian served as the county guard of Hanzhong for more than ten years, and when Empress Gao died, Zhulu rebelled, and the ministers killed them and supported Emperor Wen of Han.
After Emperor Wen of Han ascended the throne, he summoned Uncle Tian and asked him, "Does Sir know who is the loyal elder in the world?" ”
Uncle Tian replied, "How can the minister know!" ”
The Emperor said, "Sir is an elder, you should be able to know." ”
Uncle Tian kowtowed and said, "In the past, Meng Shu, the Taishou of Yunzhong County, was an elder. ”
At that time, Meng Shu violated the criminal law because of his ineffective defense against the Xiongnu border robbery, and Yunzhong County was particularly violated and robbed, and he was dismissed.
Emperor Wen said: "The first emperor placed Meng Shu to serve as the Taishou of Yunzhong County for more than ten years, and the Xiongnu invaded, so Meng Shu could not hold on, and let the soldiers die hundreds of people for no reason. Are elders supposed to kill? How can the gentleman say that Meng Shu is an elder? ”
Uncle Tian kowtowed and replied, "This is the reason why Meng Shu is an elder. ”
"Guan Gao and others rebelled, and the emperor issued a definite edict, and Zhao had the crime of daring to follow Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, and the three clans. However, Meng Shu shaved off his hair and neck with a torture instrument, followed Zhang Ao, the king of Zhao, to the place where he was going, and wanted to die for him, where did he expect to be the Taishou of Yunzhong County? ”
"Han and Chu have been in confrontation for a long time, and the soldiers are tired and difficult. Meng Shu knew that the soldiers were tired and miserable, and could not bear to order them to fight again, and the soldiers went to the city to fight to the death, just like a son fighting for his father, and a younger brother fighting for his brother, because of this, there were hundreds of people killed in the battle. ”
"Where did Meng Shu deliberately drive them to fight! This is the reason why Meng Shu is an elder. ”
So the emperor said, "Meng Shu is really virtuous! He recalled Meng Shu again and asked him to be the Taishou of Yunzhong County again.
A few years later, Uncle Tian lost his position as the Taishou of Hanzhong County for breaking the law.
King Xiao of Liang sent someone to assassinate Yuan An, the former prime minister of Wu, and Emperor Jing of Han recalled Uncle Tian to let him go to Liang to review the case, and Uncle Tian found out all the facts of the case and reported back to the dynasty.
Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty said: "Did King Liang send someone to assassinate Yuan An?" ”
He replied, "The prince is guilty of death!" King Liang has that thing! ”
The emperor said, "Is there evidence of guilt?" ”
Uncle Tian said: "The emperor should not ask about King Liang. ”
The emperor said, "Why? ”
Uncle Tian said: "If the king of Liang is not executed by the law, this is the criminal law of the Han Dynasty cannot be implemented; If he dies in the law, the Queen Mother will not eat well and sleep restlessly, which is your worry again! ”
Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty appreciated him very much and made him the prime minister of the Lu State.
Uncle Tian had just arrived, and more than 100 people took the initiative to find him, accusing King Lu of seizing finances.
Uncle Tian grabbed the twenty people led by him, each of them slapped fifty boards, and the rest of the people slapped twenty palms each, and said angrily to them, "Isn't King Lu your monarch? How dare you slander the monarch! ”
When King Lu heard about it, he was very ashamed and took out money from the inner treasury to let the prime minister repay them.
Uncle Tian said: "The king took it by himself, let the minister of state repay, this is the king doing bad things and the minister of state doing good things." The Minister of State cannot participate in the repayment. So the king of Lu paid back to the people in full.
King Lu likes to hunt, Uncle Tian often follows into the garden of hunting, King Lu always asks him to rest in the pavilion, Uncle Tian walks out of the garden, often sits in the open field and waits for King Lu.
King Lu sent people to ask him to rest many times, but he refused to rest after all, saying: "Our King Lu is exposed to the garden, how can I go to the pavilion alone!" Because of this, King Lu no longer went out on a safari.
A few years later, Uncle Tian died in the post of prime minister of Lu, and King Lu gave him a hundred catties of gold as a sacrifice. The youngest son, Tian Ren, refused to accept it, saying, "You can't damage your father's reputation because of a hundred catties of gold." ”

Wei Shang
(? —157 BC), a native of Huaili (now Xingping County) in the Western Han Dynasty.
Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty was the Taishou of Yunzhong (now northeast of Tuoketuo, Inner Mongolia).
He guarded the border, defended against the Xiongnu, and fought meritorious.
Later, because the number of kills reported to the imperial court did not match the reality, only six heads were missing, and he was reduced to investigate.
Feng Tang, the director of Langzhong, thought that Wei Shang had been mishandled, and directly admonished the emperor in person, and Emperor Wen sent Feng Tang to Yunzhong with a talisman to pardon Wei Shang's sins and restore him to the official position of Taishou in Yunzhong.
He governed the army strictly, cared about his subordinates, and used all the military taxes and taxes to reward his subordinates, and used his own money to kill cattle and sheep, and feasted his subordinates once every five days, and his subordinates supported him very much.
The momentum of the whole army is very high, the stones are thrown over the distance, everyone is vying for the first, the military power is shocked, and the Huns are afraid.
The soldiers worked so hard, and Wei Shang also tried his best to report to the soldiers and ask for merit.
Unexpectedly, once the boat capsized in the gutter.
- Because the number of enemies killed in the imperial court did not match the actual situation, and there was a difference of six heads, Wei Shang was reduced to his post and investigated, and he was given the title and sentenced to one year in prison.
There are only six heads missing, which is far from water, and it is a small thing compared to other descendants who advocate numbers for political achievements, so everyone privately thinks that Wei Shang is very wronged.
Wei Shang had a good friend named Feng Tang, who served as the director of Langzhong in the imperial court.
One day, when Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty and Feng Tang were discussing, they talked about the ancient famous generals Lian Po and Li Mu.
Feng Tang talked about the exploits of Lian Po and Li Mu, and Emperor Wen of Han patted his thigh and sighed: If I can get generals like Lian Po and Li Mu, do I still have to worry about the Huns?
Unexpectedly, Feng Tang said: Your Majesty, even if you get talents like Lian Po and Li Mu, you will not appoint them.
Emperor Wen of Han was unhappy and said: Why do you say that? Doesn't that embarrass me?
Feng Tang said: I am a vulgar person, and I speak regardless of the occasion.
Emperor Wen of Han knew that Feng Tang was not talking nonsense regardless of the occasion, Feng Tang said that there was something in his words, but what he said was too medicine.
He was worried about the invasion of the Xiongnu, so he patiently asked: Then why do you say that I can't appoint a talent like Lian Po Li Mu?
Feng Tang saw that Emperor Wen of Han had taken the bait, so he said: In ancient times, after the king appointed the generals to go on the expedition, let the generals decide all the affairs in the army.
The so-called general is outside, and the king's order is not subject to it; For example, the military merits and the number of knightly rewards are determined by the general, and the king will be played after returning.
My ancestors said that Li Mu served as the general of Zhao State, fought in the border land, and the affairs of the army were completely in charge of their own affairs, and they were never interfered with by the monarch, so they were able to expel Shan Yu and defeat Donghu.
But later, King Zhao moved to the throne, listened to slander, and killed Li Mu, causing Zhao to be destroyed by Qin.
Then, Feng Tang told Wei Shang about it. He said that the provisions of the law are too harsh, the rewards are too light, and the punishments are too heavy, which is not conducive to giving full play to the combat effectiveness of soldiers as much as possible.
If such a policy is continued, even if Your Majesty receives such talents as Lian Po and Li Mu, it will not be able to truly make the best use of talents and appoint them appropriately.
Emperor Wen of Han thought it was very reasonable, and immediately issued an edict asking Feng Tang to carry the Fu Festival to pardon Wei Shang, still make him the county guard of Yunzhong, and promote Feng Tang to the commander of the chariot cavalry, the lieutenant in charge and the chariot soldiers of the counties.
After Wei Shang was reinstated, he worked hard to rectify the military of Yunzhong County, and the Huns were jealous.

Zhidu
Zhidu was a native of Yang County in the Western Han Dynasty (now southeast of Hongdong County, Shanxi Province), and served Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty as a Lang official.
Zhidu is brave, powerful, fair and honest, does not open private letters of intercession, gifts, he does not accept, and he does not listen to private requests.
He often said to himself: "I have turned my back on my parents and become an official, so I should serve my official duties in my official position, maintain integrity and die, and after all, I cannot take care of my wife and children." ”
During the reign of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty, Zhidu became a Zhonglang general, daring to speak out to the court and impress people in front of the court.
He once followed Emperor Jing to Shanglin Yuan, and Emperor Jing's palace man Jia Ji went to the toilet, and the wild boar suddenly broke into the toilet.
Emperor Jing motioned to Zhi Du to go to the rescue with his eyes, but Zhi refused to act.
Emperor Jing wanted to save Jia Ji with a weapon in person, but Zhi Du knelt in front of Emperor Jing and said: "If you lose a concubine, there will be a concubine entering the palace, will there be a shortage of people like Jia Ji in the world?" Even though Your Majesty looks down on herself, what about the ancestral temple and the queen mother? ”
Emperor Jing turned around, and the wild boar also left.
When Empress Dowager Dou heard about this, she rewarded Zhidu with 100 catties of gold, and Emperor Jing attached great importance to Zhidu from then on.
In the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, the government of the Western Han Dynasty advocated "rule by inaction", and the power of powerful landlords expanded rapidly.
There are more than 300 clans with big surnames in Jinan County, and they are tyrannical and treacherous, such as the Lu family, relying on the large number of clan households, dominating the locality, and repeatedly making difficulties with the government.
The magistrates followed the common law, "no system", Jinan Taishou could not govern them, so Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty worshiped Zhi as the Taishou of Jinan County.
Zhidu came to Jinan County and adopted the means of countering violence with violence.
When he arrived, he killed the leaders and villains of several big surname families such as the Gu family, and the rest of the bad people with big surnames were so frightened that their thighs trembled, and they didn't dare to confront the government anymore.
After more than a year, Jinan County Road is not forgotten.
Zhidu attacked Jinan Haoqiang, which had a great impact, and the county guards of more than ten surrounding counties were afraid of Zhidu, just like they were afraid of the higher-level government.
In 150 BC (the seventh year of the Yuan Dynasty), Zhidu was promoted to lieutenant (military attache position), in charge of the security guards of the Beijing Division, and personally led the northern army.
He does not enforce the law, never tends to be inflammatory, and does not act according to the faces of his ministers.
Prime Minister Zhou Yafu was arrogant, and Zhi Du saw that he was just pretending and did not bow down.
At that time, Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty was bent on restoring the country's economic strength and implementing the policy of "reducing forced labor and reducing taxes", so the people lived and worked in peace and contentment, and there were very few people who violated the law.
Zhidu implements a harsh criminal law, not afraid to avoid the powerful and the imperial family, and all those who violate the law and prohibitions, no matter who the official is, will be punished by law.
When the princes and the royal family saw him, they all looked sideways and called him "Goshawk".
Liu Rong, the eldest son of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty, was made the crown prince in 153 BC (the fourth year of the Yuan Dynasty).
In 150 BC (the seventh year of the first century), because Liu Rong's mother Li Ji fell out of favor, Liu Che (that is, the later Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty) mother Wang Wan secretly instigated the ministers to ask Emperor Jing of Han to make Li Ji the queen, Emperor Jing of Han was furious and deposed Liu Rong as the king of Linjiang.
In 148 B.C., Liu Rong committed a crime of occupying the temple land to build a palace, and Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty summoned Liu Rong to meet him.
Liu Rong, the king of Linjiang, was summoned to the lieutenant's palace for interrogation, Zhidu was very strict with the interrogation, Liu Rong was frightened, and asked Zhidu to give him writing tools, and to write directly to Emperor Jing of Han to express his apologies, but Zhidu told the officials not to give him writing tools.
Empress Dowager Dou's nephew, Wei Qihou Dou Ying, sent someone to secretly send writing instruments to Liu Rong, and after Liu Rong wrote a letter to Emperor Jing to apologize, he committed suicide in the lieutenant's mansion.
Empress Dowager Dou was furious when she learned of the death of her eldest grandson, and hated Zhidu for being strict in law enforcement and unwilling to be tolerant, and was ready to deal with Zhidu with a harsh criminal law.
During the period of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty, the Xiongnu iron cavalry invaded and harassed the border in successive years, and several counties on the border were unstable for a long time.
The Huns have always admired the prestige of Zhidu's temperament, and they were terrified when they learned that Zhidu had been appointed as the Taishou of Yanmen.
Zhidu had just arrived in Yanmen County, and the Hun cavalry retreated with the whole army, away from Yanmen.
The Xiongnu once used wood to carve a puppet in the shape of Zhidu, set up as an arrow target, so that the Hun cavalry ran and shot, and the Hun cavalry was afraid of Zhidu, and no one could shoot. Until Zhidu died, the Huns did not dare to approach Yanmen.
Empress Dowager Dou learned that Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty had reused Zhidu again, and immediately ordered the arrest of Zhidu.
Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty defended Zhi Du and said: "Zhi are all loyal ministers."
Prepare to release Zhidu. Empress Dowager Dou did not forget the death of her grandson Liu Rong and said: "Isn't the King of Linjiang a loyal minister? ”
With her interference, Zhidu was finally killed.
