Describe the market situation I faced when I entered the company. At that time, we were one of the winning bidders for the construction of the national IT system of a central government department of the country, and in that year, a total of four winning bidders in the country were awarded. According to normal reasoning, our market is easy to develop. The reason is that although we are the winning bidders of the central departments, the central government only has a guiding relationship with the localities, and the right to build the system still lies with the localities, and the central authorities do not give money. This is what we call the central government to guide the localities, and at that time, unlike now, many units were vertically managed, which means that the central government has absolute power to appoint and dismiss the leaders of provinces, prefectures and cities, and prefectures and cities to counties and districts.

Although you win the bid, it is up to you how much market share you can get. At that time, our sales resources were very tight, a province is equipped with a sales, a province of more than 10 cities, what is the concept? If you are in one city for 2 days a month, plus the distance in between, all you can do is that you can only go to each city once a month, once a month, and you want to be alone at such a frequency??? Even now, I don't think I have that ability.

I remember that after I arrived at the new company, I received several trainings, but I didn't have sales skills. The reason is very simple, recruiting you in, it means that your own sales skills have been recognized, those are not within the scope of training, what is the training? Business knowledge, training market situation, there are many students who feel that sales do not need to understand business. Big mistake, if you want to do well, if you want to be evergreen in the sales industry, then start with the business. Business knowledge is the foundation and key to establishing a relationship between you and customers, I do not deny, there are many sales who do not understand the business can still take orders, because you can through other methods and means, or happen to be the same hobby as customers, playing tennis, playing golf or something, but that is simply sales for the sake of sales, it is difficult to take another step and go to the next realm, because you have not yet contacted the core of your customers, that is the core of a person's survival value, and only at this step, you can become real friends with customers.

Our market positioning determines that we are dealing with cadres at or above the department level of government agencies, and often the top decision-maker of this project will rise to the level of deputy mayor. The age gap determines the difference in thinking, and if we can find a common language from this difference? Business knowledge is the first step to the beginning, you understand the business, you have a topic, you understand the business, you can tell your technical staff where to start writing a plan to cut to the customer's point, in order to help them solve the problem. Because the technical staff's specialty is not communication, especially before the contract is signed, they have more information from the sales staff.

Our company attaches great importance to this project, because Qinghe City is relatively rich, and what is the concept of money, that is, we can allocate a large amount of money from the finance, and we can make the project bigger.

Wrong, this is a virtuous circle, until now I give lectures to some of our users will also talk about the investment in information construction: the user side fully attaches importance to the investment, the investment is more, then the perspective of the winning bidder will also attach great importance to it, invest a lot of manpower and material resources, which is supported by the contract amount, no matter what problems are encountered, the two sides will work together to solve, the final result is that the project is completed and put into production, and the business problems are solved for customers, and business support is completed, and a boutique project is made for manufacturers. On the contrary, if the user investment is less and the manufacturer's resource investment is less, then it is not the problem that becomes the problem, and the project is a mess. It has become a three-dissatisfaction project, that is, the user is not satisfied, because the purpose of business information support has not been achieved, the company is not satisfied, no money has been made, the employees are not satisfied, and there is no project bonus to take.

Some people may say, it's too realistic, you can't do a good project without money. It's not this concept, the company is talking about business, the company wants profits, how can you survive without profits, so many people's salaries have to be paid, so many daily expenses need cash flow, these are not blown. The company's resources are also limited, and between the two projects with low profits and high profits, the project with high profits will definitely be chosen, which is also the way the company operates.

We are one of the 4 manufacturers participating in the project in Qinghe City. Unfortunately, our early business relationship didn't go well, and another company had already taken the lead. In retrospect, the company worked the entire project process without a single leak:

First of all, this company is not a shortlisted software vendor in the central department, and it doesn't matter. They directly advised the client to separate the hardware and software tenders.

For example, if our unit wants to complete the construction of an informatization project, then it needs two major parts, one is the purchase of computers, servers, etc., which are called hardware. There are only a few hardware manufacturers, and the construction of a national information system, unless it is a secret-related unit, will not make too many restrictions on the hardware. At most, due to some commercial reasons, the performance indicators of hardware will be limited in tenders and bids. The second is to purchase application software, which is to help you support the existing manual business process software, these are called software, in the process of building a national system, in order to ensure the unity of the data format, the future business process up and down, the central department will often make relevant restrictions, such as technical specifications, shortlisted manufacturers and so on. And we are one of the shortlisted vendors of central sector software.

We can see that if the software and hardware bidding are put together, then this company will definitely not be able to participate, the reason is very simple, it does not have the qualifications to be shortlisted. At the same time, because you are a newcomer, the mutual trust with the company is still in the run-in period, and it is difficult to win support in all aspects such as expenses. I remember that at that time, my sales expenses were also quite limited, I forgot how much, my memory seemed to be 2K per month, fortunately, there was more turnover funds in my hands at that time, the reason was some income from other aspects, and these income came from the cooperation with the agents of Yongli Company.

During that time, the demand for laptops in the provincial capital entered an explosive period, which had a lot to do with the improvement of the country's overall economic situation at that time.
