Volume 2 My Youth Chapter 3 Traps
Unlike the street battles in Frankfork, Sanctuary was not badly damaged, so there wasn't much shelter.
Although we were surrounded by a group of elite soldiers, many of whom had participated in the fierce street battles in Frankfork, we had to be more cautious and move slowly.
The scouts were in front of the attack, the accompanying assault infantry was responsible for the assassination mission, and we turned on the steam engine to the minimum power. Due to the heavy attack on the outer city line, many of those close to the outer city on the right side fled, leaving many empty houses for us to use.
We moved from house to house, heading towards our destination. Coupled with the help of the command, our force has not been discovered by the enemy until now.
γ
"Sir!" A correspondent shuddered and reported, "The front line of the city defense system has been connected, and they say that a unit containing the Knights of the Unity has infiltrated the underground pipes!" β
"What?" The officer standing in front of the map of the city defense was visibly surprised, "Hurry up and ask them how long ago this was." β
"Report! It was about an hour ago. The correspondent reported after a short communication.
"Immediately notify the guards to block the road leading to the headquarters. The Steam Armored Knights and Light Armored Units immediately gathered at the headquarters and told them not to be left alone, and to advance as large as possible.
Major James, immediately contact the defenders of the city, and ask them to find out as soon as possible that those troops have lost contact, and draw a rough route and submit it. β
"Yes!"
γ
"It seems that our operation has been discovered, and the telephone line that should have been damaged has been reconnected," Second Lieutenant Williams whispered while holding a telescope to observe the St. Mary's Hospital, which was on guard in the distance, "Big Head, quickly contact the rear and say that our infiltration has been known to the enemy, but our location has not been discovered for the time being." β
The soldier, known as the Big Head, nodded, cautiously slipped down the wall, and began to run backwards.
"Don't be stunned by the others, hurry up and observe the enemy's deployment overview, and it will be us who will rush to the front to face their defense line when the time comes!"
Several soldiers immediately took out a crumpled piece of paper and pencil and began to record while observing with binoculars.
The big head quickly returned to a bank where the big force was.
"Report to the sir, the enemy has discovered our movements, but has not discovered our location for the time being."
"Knowing the soldier, go back and tell your captain to tell him to bring back the enemy's defense drawings. You have ten minutes. β
"Yes!" The big head, who received the order, immediately left the place.
"So, if the enemy's commander is smart enough, and the enemy's communication is efficient enough, then we have half an hour left. The premise is that the enemy will be trapped by our traps. β
"How long will it take for the enemy to find out?" I asked.
"Twenty-five minutes after being discovered, thirty-five minutes later it was pinned down by the vanguard of the enemy rushing to support, and fifty minutes later it was basically surrounded."
βγγγ Forget it, no matter what the defense map is, let's unite the knights to rush in front, you just follow behind, and let all the snipers enter the surrounding buildings to snipe. As I spoke, the infantry commander nodded. Everyone is getting moving.
I put on my helmet and attached the instrument to the armored head of the Combined Knight, and led the Combined Knights to the enemy's main entrance.
"Sir! Second Lieutenant Williams, Captain of the Reconnaissance Team, here is a rough map of the enemy's defenses. One soldier handed a piece of paper to the infantry commander, and he looked at it in great detail, as a veteran who had survived the war.
"Thank you, soldier, give me the binoculars and return to the team."
"Yes!"
The infantry commander held up a telescope and discussed with me the next line of attack.
In order to seize the time, some avoidable sacrifices had to be made. The infantry commander gave the mortar squad in the rear the signal and the target of the attack.
With a few explosions, most of the enemy's artillery positions were attacked, and our knights rushed out of the house and headed for the hospital at once.
The machine guns began to strafe, the soldiers who reacted began to shoot in a panic, and the artillery units that were not destroyed desperately turned the muzzles and loaded the shells. The steam armored knights stationed around came in formation.
The snipers in the rear began to fire and the infantry began to cover us, but soon tongues of fire erupted from the hospital window to suppress them.
We started running against all this, and some of the knights' armor was shattered by the weight of their armor, and immediately flesh flew and fell to one side.
Faced with the line of fire that would require at least one regiment to break through, we had to use steel and flesh to get through the five hundred meters of death.
Amid the roars of the enemy, I slashed a heavy machine-gun crew, loaded open the blocked hospital gates, and rushed in. The defenders stationed outside tried to enter the hospital, but were quickly pinned down by our infantry.
I took a deep breath after killing the guards guarding the door to one of the rooms. According to the command, this is the general headquarters of the coup/d'Γ©tat troops and the city defense force.
I immediately slammed the door open, but I didn't see what I thought a command headquarters should look like, there was nothing here, just an ordinary hospital room.
Is this a trap? I frowned.
The Unified Knights around him began to cautiously inspect the room, and after three minutes, all the knights shook their heads.
"Command, what's going on?! This is not the command of the coup / d'Γ©tat forces. I yelled, feeling a bad feeling in my heart.
βγγγβ The other end of the neural link suddenly loses its voice. I sensed something was wrong. There was no footsteps of the pursuers at the top of the stairs, and it stands to reason that the defenders downstairs should have already begun to attack the upper floor.
Something is wrong, something is so wrong!
Just then, out of nowhere, a team of steam-armored knights burst into the room and engaged us
In a relatively enclosed space, the Combined Knight obviously had an advantage over the average Steam Armored Knight, and we began to fight with cold weapons, and the enemy had to use a ten-for-one battle loss ratio to intercept us to the death.
In the end, they didn't succeed. I flicked my blood-stained sword, and at that moment, I felt a palpitation.
I quickly opened the curtains, and saw a huge window open in the building opposite, and the black muzzle of a cannon was facing us.
Before I could speak, the fire from the muzzle of the cannon had already appeared, and instinct drove my body to lie down, and when the other knights saw it, they quickly followed suit. The explosion sent a shockwave right around me, making me sick.
Fortunately, the hospital building was still stable and did not collapse due to the shelling, and the knights who were able to stand up began to drag the fallen knights out of the room, and when I was dragged out of there and out of the room, the shelling came again.
For a while, I just felt that the world was spinning, and the tinnitus made me listen to everything as if I was far away from the sky, so I could only lie on the ground deadly, regardless of whether the fragments hurt me or not.
With the continuous shelling, the hospital finally couldn't hold on and began to collapse, and we hurriedly retreated.
Stumbling to our feet, we managed to breathe a sigh of relief, and we retreated to the interior of the building, where the shelling finally stopped.
Hurried footsteps began to sound, and the pursuers came. We took refuge in the room next to us amid a burst of gunfire, and the knights, who were still able to continue the fight, immediately began to fire back, preventing the enemy below from going upstairs.
Now it's certain that we've fallen into a trap.
γ
Outside the city, the headquarters of the counterinsurgency forces was in shambles, with several corpses lying in pools of blood on the ground, lit flames everywhere, and confetti flying around with sparks.
"What the hell are you going to do!" Major General Velma led his guards outside the headquarters and shouted outside, and inside responded with gunfire, and the Major General hurriedly hid back.
"Listen, people inside, no matter what your purpose is, we can have a good conversation, I swear in the name of my family, I will never kill you."
There was no reply inside.
Major General Verma's heart sank, could it be that there were a group of dead soldiers who were still alive inside?
"What's going on here, sir?" Colonel David, who had blocked off the surrounding area on the orders of Major General Verma, slid into the trench and asked.
"I didn't know what was going on inside, so I suddenly started an exchange of fire, and now the situation is unknown." Major General Verma said with some annoyance.
As the commander of the counterinsurgency force, it was already a chore, and now it is still encountered.
What's more, the steel thorn troops in the city still need the assistance of the command headquarters, and after so long, the ghost knows what the situation inside is now. If the battle plan is completely destroyed, or the battle plan is disrupted by the group of dead soldiers who don't know who it belongs to, then all today's efforts will be wasted, and those soldiers who died in battle will die in vain.
"Don't you rush with the troops?" The colonel asked.
"There are a lot of classified documents and equipment inside, how do you explain that any of them have been destroyed? Do you think those big guys will care about your explanations? β
"Then you can't just wait, Major General. The news here will not be blocked for long, and once the wind leaks, it may cause the army to mutiny, and the consequences will be unimaginable. Colonel David said solemnly.
Although he was confident that his troops would not leak the news of the accident here, it was hard to avoid that someone would start a conspiracy theory after seeing that this place was locked down. What's more, a bloody battle has just been fought today, and many people have been tacitly allowed to drink.
"Do you think I don't know? Think about it, who are the people in it, and what else can they do at this time? It has to wait. You and I can't mix this kind of thing. The major general said helplessly, pointing upward. The colonel understood the major general's distress and stopped talking.
Finally, as several gunshots rang out from within the headquarters, the major general rushed in with his people.
Since everyone was mentally prepared in advance, they were not surprised by the scene in front of them, and the soldiers began to open the leather and silently began to collect the corpses, but there was no way to do it on the ground, so they could only be careful not to step on the pool of blood. Major General Verma picked up the radio communication device, and there was a murmur inside.
The device had been damaged, the map on the desk had been burned, and several classified documents appeared to be missing, either destroyed or stolen.
"Tell someone to lock this place down." The Major General said to the Colonel, who nodded and immediately began to call for men.
"Signal Soldiers!"
"Here, sir!" A communications soldier came to Major General Verma with a heavy communication device on his back.
"Leave your comms behind, and leave."
"Yes! Sir. β
After the signal corps left, Major General Verma picked up the communicator.
"This is Major General Welma of the counterinsurgency force, and I have something to report to the headquarters of the Holy State Military Department."
