Volume 2 My Youth Chapter 4 Monsters
I woke up from the darkness and immediately leaned against the wall to adjust my state.
"Knight, what's going on?" I asked the Unified Knight who was guarding the door.
"Report to the regiment commander, the enemy is trying to attack, and now it is temporarily suppressed by us, and the other circumstances are unknown." After the knight finished speaking, he continued to raise his gun and shoot out the door.
I took off my helmet, took a sip of the water bag next to me, took a few sips of blood-smelling water, and breathed in the slightly dull air of the cab.
Rubbing his head and putting on his helmet again, he manipulated the armor of the Unified Knight to pick up the guns scattered on the ground.
With our surplus guns and ammunition, as well as captured equipment, we were able to hold out for the time being.
If you can use the weapons of the enemy's infantry, then maybe you can hold out here for a few days and nights.
I went to the window and quietly lifted the broken curtain to look out, where there was also an exchange of fire, and it looked like our infantry unit was also under attack.
With my gun in hand and loaded my load, I patted the knight at the door, and he retreated into the room in tacit agreement, and I came to the door, and looked out, and the staircase was filled with smoke and dust from the bullets.
There were our men in the rooms on either side of this floor, and they were shooting at the staircase from time to time, suppressing the enemy's upward advance.
The enemy downstairs is also fighting back, keeping us from going down.
It doesn't look like the situation is good, and listening to the sound, it seems that the enemy has planted at least two or more machine guns underneath.
"And grenades?" I asked, and one of the knights used sign language to communicate with the person opposite, and then reported to me:
"Report to the head of the regiment, and a dozen grenades."
I'm a little worried, is this little amount enough to sustain us from the encirclement?
It was enough to rush out of the hospital, but there were still enemy troops outside, and even if they could immediately join up with the infantry units, the surrounding enemy would definitely have set up an encirclement during this time.
Forget it, forget it, no matter what, it's a step if you can take one step.
After asking everyone to reply, I gave the order to throw the grenade in sign language.
Soon, with a few explosions, there was a temporary silence below, and I immediately rushed out of the room, aiming or not, and shooting downstairs, and rushed downward, with the rest of the unified knights following closely behind me.
Everyone has experienced the battle of Frankfork City, and there is a fairly high tacit understanding of fighting in the building.
We kept breaking through the enemy barriers in the hospital and headed for the hospital gates.
With an explosion, our charge was once again halted, and we lost another knight.
Finally getting rid of the enemy forces that stood in our way, we made our way to the first floor, but the situation here was even worse.
The enemy placed several heavy machine guns and artillery aimed at the hospital gates, so that we could not rush out.
I gasped and hid behind a wall, watching the hospital gates and wondering if we should surrender, because we didn't have to fight for the Apostolic Council.
Now such results can be reversed. After all, it was the location of the enemy's headquarters where the command had mispredicted.
We've formed six charges, each time being crushed back by the artillery from outside, and the enemy's strength at the hospital gate is growing as time goes on, and our hope of breaking out is getting smaller and smaller.
I just don't know why the enemy hasn't sent anyone to persuade us to surrender so far, could it be that they plan to kill us all?
This is not reasonable at all, it stands to reason that the coup/d'état forces should try their best to preserve their own army, instead of coming to fight us and lose so much energy, manpower and material resources, what is it for?
My head was a little swollen from thinking.
I can't figure out the reason, so I have to break through first. I made a few tactical gestures.
The enemy sent another wave of death squads towards the hospital gate, firing and advancing as they went, but they were soon killed by all the snipers I had arranged upstairs.
The gunfire outside is still continuous, and it seems that our infantry units are still resisting stubbornly, but we don't know if they can come and help us break through.
There were not many knights and ammunition left, so I had to prepare for the worst and fight with what I had left.
I took the binoculars and looked out through the broken window, where the enemy was rearranging the shelling positions.
After a rough calculation of the time for the enemy to reopen fire, I began to convey the order to prepare for a breakthrough to each knight. Everyone started to prepare.
With a burst of shelling, while attacking us, it also revealed its own position. The snipers immediately began to deal with the enemy's artillery bombardment, and as the sound of artillery fire subsided, we began to charge again, picked up our guns and began to pull the trigger, and when the bullets were gone, we threw away our guns, drew our swords, and slashed at all obstacles in sight.
Because of the suddenness of the incident, the enemy's infantry began to shoot indiscriminately, which apparently did not threaten us.
Ordinary firearms, even heavy machine guns, will not be able to deal effective damage to our Combined Knight's armor until they form a continuous crossfire and smash into the armor.
I don't know if it's lucky or not, but this time, we rushed out of the hospital gate without being shelled. So, after rushing out of the hospital, we immediately looked for shelter. After a while, the shelling resumed.
"Sniper!" I'm yelling at a psychic link communication device.
This kind of device consumes my mental power very much, but now is not the time to cherish it.
Gunfire rang out from behind, and the enemy's artillery positions were again muted.
The knights, who still had guns, took advantage of the gap in enemy fire to destroy the enemy's fire points as best they could. However, it is clear that the effect is minimal, and the encirclement is supplemented by successive enemies.
Weakened by their guns, the Combined Knights could only cautiously crawl behind cover, collecting weapons and providing cover for their comrades behind them.
Fortunately, we only had to deal with the enemy in the front, and there were no attacks from the left and right.
Suddenly, in an instant, all the enemies stopped attacking, and the strange silence made everyone a little uncomfortable.
After the smoke of gunpowder, those enemies are retreating.
What's going on?
Suddenly, I seemed to sense something, and I turned my head to see a four-meter-tall knight in unusually ornate armor standing at the door of the hospital.
Its anatomy does not resemble that of a human, with its head and shoulders flush, and its neck, arms, and legs are very slender. He is covered in armor covered with scriptures.
That kind of thing can't necessarily be mechanical.
As if behind the armor some kind of inhuman monster.
It held the upper body of a unified knight in its hands, and the unfortunate knight seemed to have been cut off by the waist, and its twisted chest stuck the driver's body inside.
The blood that flowed reddened the ground.
I couldn't help but swallow a mouthful of water.
What the hell is this?!
How could it be that our snipers came here in an instant from the hospital without a sound at all!?
Why didn't those snipers give a warning?!
The skeleton of the Unified Knight's armor was actually cut off?!
What kind of claws can be made of materials to cut off the skeleton!?
"Small... Be careful... There are monsters. A faint, hoarse voice came from the communication device. It was the last message from a knight in the hospital.
Several of the Unified Knights near the entrance of the hospital were already forming a formation to meet the enemy with their swords.
The monster threw away the wreckage in its hand and sped away, an instantaneous assault so fast that it was impossible for the naked eye to catch.
With instinct, several unified knights worked together to withstand the sudden attack of the monster.
Just from some subtle and shrill sounds, it can be judged that the knights' swords are already a little overwhelmed.
The monster leapt to its feet and headed backwards, its powerful recoil nearly knocking the Unified Knights down.
More knights arrived, and the enemies on the periphery began to retreat in an orderly manner, seemingly leaving the battlefield completely to the monsters.
Another monster came out of the hospital, covered in blood, and the delicate helmet was stained red with steaming blood, looking very hideous and terrifying.
The monsters unleashed a lightning-fast charge tirelessly, and after a few rounds, the two combined knights were defeated and instantly cut off by the monster's sharp claws.
The remaining knights were visibly shocked by the sudden death, and did not come back until they had suffered two more casualties.
They regrouped, and together they fended off the lightning attack of the monsters by instinct.
As the knights steadily advance into the encirclement, the space for the monsters to move is gradually decreasing.
Of course, we also paid a certain price. In order to prevent the coup/coup forces from attacking us again, some of the knights did not participate in the siege, but took on the task of guarding the enemy.
Just when we thought those monsters were suppressed and could be killed. The armor that had attached to them was shattered.
The flesh that proliferated in an instant turned into a strange tentacle with sharp claws.
With the monster's shrieking roar, several of the Unified Knights were impaled through their chests by the tentacles, blood gushing out of the gaps.
The encirclement was broken, and the two monsters quickly eliminated the unified knights around them.
The armor on their bodies began to fall, revealing their insanely fleshy flesh. Countless tentacles are wriggling and growing, and countless sharp minions are growing wildly in a way that does not conform to biological sense.
They rushed over.
The Knights of the Unification were terrified, and they fired indiscriminately at the figure of the monster that rushed towards them.
Their rapid speed makes it difficult for them to be hit, and even if they do, they just burst a purple flower, and then continue to rush towards the Unification Knight with unabated speed.
One knight after another was mutilated, parts and blood scattered to the ground. The killed drivers couldn't even let out a wail.
I could only feel one emotion after another of extreme despair and fear on the neural link.
All of this was shocking to my perception and making me feel as unreal as a fantasy.
Finally, it rushed at me.
The impact hit me with a tremendous force, and I struggled with all my might to fend off the tentacles and minions without penetrating the cab.
It's just that the entire armor of the Unified Knight is already in tatters.
Am I going to die here? I can't help but be gripped by fear and despair, just as every slain Knight of Unity thinks.
