Chapter 10: Pride and Prejudice I
Compared to Schiller, Jonathan really looks like a good guy, he is thin, with slender limbs, messy curly hair, and a pair of big black-rimmed glasses, always dark circles under his eyes, and he looks very weak, like a complete otaku.
His personality in school is also very much like a good old man, all Gotham students know that Jonathan's classes are not strict, and he can easily pass exams, even if he is a little absent and late, he will only raise his glasses and let those classmates sit down, and will not criticize them.
He looked ten out of ten like a nerd, and Schiller, the new psychology professor, looked like a senior member of Arkham Asylum in comparison.
Schiller's appearance is somewhat biracial, with black hair and gray eyes, while the original owner also looks like a straight man, and all his clothes are gray except for black.
And most of them are coats, scarves and formal clothes worn at work, and Schiller has never gone out to buy clothes, so he has always maintained the style of the original owner, and Gotham is always raining these days, and Schiller carries a black umbrella almost all the time.
What to say about this image, it's as if he's not the final villain of the TV series and he's a little sorry for the audience.
And Schiller only came a few days after he arrived, and his students found out that this was actually a very strict professor, and the level of his lectures was indeed very high, but he showed no mercy to those who were late and left early, and he had to take a test every few classes, and he said directly in class that at least thirty percent of the people in this course should fail, which made everyone nervous.
Although the students of Gotham University are from very good families, they are not without rebellion, no college student will like such a professor, at first Schiller's class there were several thorns, but soon, I don't know which one broke the mouth, Schiller's resume spread, and now the students in Schiller's class, immediately quiet like docile sheep.
After all, no matter how you look at it, it is impossible for a normal person to be involved in so many serial murders several times, and soon, Schiller has become a campus legend in Gotham University.
Some say that their professor is actually the murderer of these serial murders, others say that he actually carries some kind of unfortunate curse on him, and there are terrible cases wherever he goes, and there are imaginative people who have made up a tragic background for Schiller, and suggest that he participated in the investigation of so many homicides in order to get revenge.
There are always various versions of the story, there is always one that meets the expectations of the students, among the students, this bizarre and a little scary story always spreads very fast, and within a few days, most of the students know about Schiller's past.
Schiller went out to buy breakfast, and the window where he was standing was never empty, and the students were all watching him from afar, and in class, his homework was so well received that no professor had ever done.
After that night's standoff, Schiller could often feel that Bruce was following him, even during the day, on campus, but fortunately he had a spider sense, and Bruce tried several times to install cameras in his dorm room, counseling room, and classroom podium, but without success.
But it was Schiller who was the inspiration.
It seems that the young Batman still hasn't thought about it, but he notices that Bruce seems to have made some deal with Gordon, and Schiller goes to the Mawson neighborhood a few more times in the evening, and he finds that the two of them really seem to be teaming up.
Finally, one day, when it was time to go to bed, the sky in Gotham was already as dark as ink.
Schiller didn't plan to go out tonight, he wanted to get a good night's sleep, the teaching at the university was not as easy as he thought, and the psychological diagnosis and treatment was occasionally for students who really needed psychological counseling, whether it was to relieve anxiety, relieve depression, or really need to provide psychological advice, these tasks were also very tiring, so he planned to sleep well.
But God didn't like it, Jonathan, who was supposed to only be active in the second half of the night, suddenly left the campus in the first half of the night, and Schiller knew that he might want to grab a new batch of experiments.
Indeed, Gordon and Bruce have been in the Mawson neighborhood lately, and Jonathan knows very well that he can't beat the cops, and if he is caught, he will definitely be locked up.
He's not as physically fit as Schiller, and he can even breathe fear gas, and Batman has gradually gained some fame after clearing the Gutter Gang and a few other small gangsters in the Mawson neighborhood, and people know that there is an eccentric vigilante here, and Jonathan has been afraid to show his face for several nights after fighting those gangs.
But his fear gas was about to make a breakthrough, and no experimental maniac could accept it, and at this critical juncture, the experiment failed, his experiments had already run out, and he had to capture new ones.
Although he is not physically strong, the matter of capturing the experimental object is still very simple for him, he only needs to find a house with an open window, put a pipe into it, spray a large amount of anesthetic into it, and then pry open the door of their house and drag the person out.
Schiller watched him leave the campus, and he himself had to put on his coat again, take an umbrella, and follow him, although he didn't have a virgin mentality, and he didn't intend to be a superhero savior, but he would still take care of the tragedy that happened in front of him.
What's more, if Jonathan continues to mess around like this, there will be few people left in the Mawson neighborhood, and Batman's debut journey will die before he can get started, anyway, the scarecrow will be caught by Batman sooner or later, so it's better to hit the day than today.
And Schiller made a small move, he intended to teach Batman a lesson, so that he would quickly wake up from that arrogant state of mind.
The current Batman still has room for mistakes, because the Joker is still just a circus actor, and Schiller can't imagine how badly Batman will be played by him if the Joker appears in front of the young Batman now.
Although Batman is still young now, he still has a lot of shortcomings, but I have to admit that the skills he has learned from traveling to various countries are not in vain.
And Jonathan is not a meticulous criminal now, he has no special training, let alone any anti-detection awareness, and many of his clues have been discovered by Batman and Gordon.
The two of them teamed up to reach the underground of the chapel, where they discovered Jonathan's laboratory, which was not a very clever laboratory, and could even be said to be very much like a blackheart workshop.
It was dim, cramped, and smelled bad, and Batman looked at the drain in the basement and said, "I think I'm afraid I know where those people went."
Gordon came up with a pistol and said, "I don't want to ask, but I have to write the truth on my combat report."
"Aqua regia. Not only can it melt metal, but it can also melt the hardest part of the human body. ”
"Okay, I see, you don't have to say it, I don't want to hear the details." Gordon said.
They were investigating the small lab, and suddenly, Gordon found a trace under an old crate, which was some broken fallen leaves.
"Korean pine." Batman said, "I saw its cotyledons. ”
"Hell, there's no pine tree in all of Gotham? Otherwise, the weather here wouldn't be like this. Gordon said.
"I want to have a place where this plant ......," Batman said.
"Gotham University, which is the greenest place in all of Gotham City, has this plant on both sides of the widest walkway there."
Gordon crouched down, looked at the marks carefully, and said:
"It should be that the murderer's boots have stepped on this fallen leaf, and there is mud hanging on it, obviously the heavy rain in the past few days has caused him a lot of trouble, after he came here, the stain fell off inadvertently, and he didn't clean it up."
Gordon looked up and said, "The murderer is a student at Gotham University?"
"Maybe it's a teacher." Batman said,
"Is that the one you threatened that day?" Gordon asked,
"I'm not threatening him." Batman said,
"But you cut his neck with a dart and made him bleed a lot, and I'm afraid that a wound of that length will definitely leave a scar." Gordon said.
"Are you sympathizing with a criminal?" Batman asked,
"He's not a criminal, at least not until he goes to trial."
"Judgment ......," Batman snorted.
Gordon sensed Batman's distrust of the justice system, he didn't retort with him, he didn't work as a police officer in Gotham for a day or two, the justice system here is really not trustworthy, or the entire system of order here is not trustworthy.
"But it seems to me that you are threatening to wantonly harm an unarmed ordinary person with a dangerous weapon in your hand." Gordon said.
"Unarmed......" Batman said.
He suddenly found himself unable to contradict Gordon, because as far as he knew, Schiller didn't seem to have any professional combat training, and Batman was convinced that he could take him down with a single punch.
But he had been troubled by this man for many days, but he could not do anything, and he suddenly remembered a sentence he had heard on his study tour - words are more powerful than fists.
But that's the end of it, Batman thought.
The killer is from Gotham University, and there is almost no second answer, isn't the evidence conclusive enough? Maybe it's time to send that mad professor to jail,
He looked at the stained drain under his feet, where the souls of more than forty people had disappeared, and there must have been some parents among them.
Long ago that night, his parents' lives had disappeared into the alley, but no one had paid the price they had due.
But now it's different, with him, these criminals will eventually go where they need to go, and none of them can escape.
