Chapter 3: The Naughty Peeves
"Now, before everyone goes to bed, let's sing the school song together!" Dumbledore exclaimed.
The smiles of the other teachers seemed to freeze, leaving the freshmen a little puzzled.
Dumbledore flicked his wand, and a long ribbon of gold flew out of it, twisting like a snake over the high dining table.
"Each person chooses their favorite tune." Dumbledore said, "Ready, sing!" ”
So all the teachers and students sang loudly:
Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts,
Teach us knowledge,
Whether we are old people
Or a child who falls on his knee,
Our minds can be receptive
Something interesting.
Because now our minds are empty, full of air,
Dead flies and trivialities,
Teach us something valuable,
Give us back to us what we have forgotten,
You just have to do your best, and we will take care of the rest.
We will study hard until we turn into dung.
Everyone sang the school song seven by one. Only the Weasley brothers continued to sing to the slow melody of the Funeral March.
While Shelley worked hard to make use of his musical cells, he secretly admired the courage of the brothers.
Hermione silently distanced herself from Shelley, and her singing and "Funeral March" were not too unyielding.
Dumbledore commanded the last few bars for them with his wand, and when it was time to finish, he applauded the loudest.
"Music," he said, rubbing his eyes, "is more glamorous than anything we've done here!" It's bedtime time. Let's go back to the dormitory. ”
After the dinner, the young wizards followed the prefects of their respective houses back to the exclusive lounge of the colleges.
Shelley and the others followed Percy Weasley, the prefect of Gryffindor, around the castle, through staircases that could change positions at any time, and through many doors hidden behind sliding baffles and hanging drapery.
Suddenly, in front of them, a bundle of canes floated in the air. Percy was only one step away from the man behind him, and everyone behind him threw himself down.
"Oh, why stop."
"Have you arrived?"
Several wizards fell together and scrambled to their feet.
Shelley reacted quickly and put her arm around Hermione—so she wouldn't fall to the ground—and the two of them leaned against the wall on the side of the hallway, steady.
Hermione struggled a few times, but it didn't work, and she puffed out her face angrily, and was quietly held in Shelley's arms.
"I'm fine, hurry... Let go of me. Hermione's flushed face betrayed her panicked heart - she was feigning composure.
It's so cute!
"Okay, Hermione." Shelley stood in front of Hermione, speechless as she looked at the ghostly figure laughing in the air.
"It's Peeves," Percy whispered to the first-year freshman, "a ghost who specializes in pranks." ”
In fact, Peeves isn't technically a ghost, it seems to be a kind of spirit caused by some kind of subliminal behavior of Hogwarts students over the millennia, Shelley thought.
Percy raised his voice again and said, "Peeves—manifest." ”
He was answered with a loud, shrill popping sound like a balloon deflated.
"Are you asking me to find Barrow the Bloody?"
With a pop, a dwarf suddenly appeared, with a pair of evil black eyes and a large mouth, floating cross-legged in mid-air; Hands firmly grasped the bundle of canes.
"Ho-ho-ho!" He giggled, "It's a nasty first-year ghost!" It's so much fun!"
He lunged at them suddenly. They were stunned all at once.
"Go away, Peeves, or I'll tell Barrow the Bloody, I'm not kidding!" Percy yelled.
Peeves stuck out his tongue and vanished. The cane flew in the direction of Shelley and Hermione.
Once again, Hermione was swept aside by Shelley's arms.
Peeves soared into the air, and the armor clanged as it flew by.
Hermione's head was dizzy, her cheeks flushed, and she was used to disguising herself as strong in order to protect herself. But Shelley tore her disguise, and even though they had known each other for less than a day, Shelley really thought about her.
Hermione couldn't blame anything, but she didn't dare to face Shelley again for a short time, and then she deliberately kept some distance from Shelley.
So Shelley didn't get too close.
"You should be wary of Peeves." Percy said, leading the group onwards, "Barrow the Bloody Man is the only one who can stop him, and he can't even listen to us prefects...... We're here. ”
Finally, they stopped in front of a portrait.
In the portrait is a very rich woman dressed in pink, and everyone calls her Fat Lady.
"Password?"
"Dragon scum." Percy explained to the freshmen, "The password is changed from time to time. ”
The portrait moved, revealing a circular passage leading to the Genranfondo common room.
Shelley dragged his somewhat tired body and crawled in.
There are many secrets in the castle...... Unknown secret passages, Slytherin and Ravenclaw secret rooms, portraits of each other visiting, walking armor, and many ghosts.
On the previous road, they had encountered the pesky Peeves, who always liked to cause trouble.
In the warm lounge, a roaring fireplace burns and many soft-looking armchairs are placed there.
"Meet here, welcome to the Gryffindor lounge." Percy stood in front of the many new students, enjoying the spotlight: "The boys' dormitories are upstairs on the left-hand side, and the girls' rooms are upstairs on the right-hand side. Your luggage has been sent upstairs. ”
Shelley looked first to the left and then to the right......
Isn't Hogwarts afraid of students secretly falling in love? This common room is too convenient, right, I don't know what the defense mechanism of the girls' dormitory is......
Maybe we can study it another day......
Shelley remembers that in Hogwarts, A School History, it was written that the founders of Hogwarts believed that boys were more trustworthy than girls, so girls were allowed to enter the boys' dormitories, but boys were not allowed to visit girls.
It's not fair! Shelley continued to ponder.
While no one was looking, he whispered to Hermione, "Get a good night's sleep tonight." ”
Hermione looked back, smiling slightly. Shelley glanced at it, and even wondered if it was his own delusion, how could he smile so well?
Hermione hurried back to her bedroom.
The little wizards had been through so much that they were exhausted on this day.
Shelley just wanted to get back to bed as soon as possible, and then ignore it and fall asleep, after all, there was still class the next day.
It's not boring math and language, it's magic! Real, magic that can be cast!
Shelley didn't know what tomorrow's class would look like, but she was looking forward to it.
Shelley finally found a bunk with his name on it.
Five beds with four pillars, draped with crimson flannel curtains.
He was actually in the same dormitory as Harry Potter and Ron, and he lamented that his future campus life must be wonderful!
