Chapter 46: The Enemy Advances

"My lord, we've finished cleaning up the battlefield." Several captains came to Aven's side.

"My lord, according to the reports of the soldiers pursuing the enemy, all that fell from the wagon were some weapons and armor. A dozen wagons are estimated to have hundreds of weapons and dozens of armors of various kinds, as well as countless arrows."

Skuk handed the sword in his hand to Aven and added, "Although these equipment are not as good as those made by the craftsmen themselves, they are still good equipment."

Evan took the knight's sword and reached out and tapped it, it sounded pretty good. If a dozen wagons were full of this stuff, it was a huge fortune, and it was no wonder that so many people were sent to escort them.

The only thing that made Ai Wen a little regretful was that in the process of fighting, the horses were all scattered and ran away because they were frightened, and there was no way to chase them even if they wanted to.

"It's okay, if you lose it, you lose it, it's not a big deal. What about our casualties?" Evan asked what he was most worried about. Although this battle was won, if the casualties were too great, the gains outweighed the losses.

The captains looked at each other, and finally Marcus stepped forward to explain.

"My lord, we lost ten of our dead and eight wounded in this battle."

Eighteen casualties? Ai Wen's heart skipped a beat, and now the various squads of the Snapdragon Army, plus the captain and deputy captain, are only twelve. The casualties of eighteen men were equivalent to one and a half squads being completely broken up, and they needed to be reorganized and ready for battle.

Seeing that Evan was silent, Marcus didn't know whether to continue reporting. He looked at Skuk pleadingly, this kid had the most ways out of the captains, and now was the time for him to shine.

"Your Excellency, most of the people who died in battle were conscripts. Most of the Snapdragon Army are injured, and most of them are not deeply wounded, so they should not die." Skuk said calmly.

Marcus's face twitched. Skuk's words were not wrong, and they were indeed reality, but before his own lord set out, he said that he would treat those conscripts equally. Now when you say that, aren't you going against the adults?

"Skuk, you can't say that. After all, without the heroic battles of others, we ourselves would have suffered even greater losses." Marcus blackened his face and tried to make amends.

Hearing Skuk's words, Evan breathed a sigh of relief, but then he felt a little chilled. The Snapdragon Army was brought out by himself, but those levies were also his own soldiers.

As a person who is deeply influenced by the thinking of later generations, how can he say that he is equal, but in his heart he divides it into three, six, nine and so on?

"Burn all the soldiers who died in battle, put their ashes in different containers, and when the battle is over, bring them back to the territory, and then I will personally hold a ceremony and bury them somewhere." Evan said loudly.

The corners of Skuk's mouth slowly raised when he was standing in the crowd, he was willing to join the Snapdragon Army, but not to have enough to eat.

After cleaning up the battlefield, Evan continued to go north with the Snapdragon Army, hoping to expand the results. For him, the more enemies he can attract now, is the greatest contribution to the front line. If you can't win with more or less, then Evan doesn't know what to do.

A few days later......

"Damn, are these people all shrunken turtles?" Snich scolded a little irritably.

Quake shook his head, rather speechless at Snick's reaction. Now the news of the fall of Sika Castle and the defeat of Baron Sika and the unknown fate of Baron Sika has spread throughout the county of Suffolk.

Even if this group of East Anglolian nobles is incompetent, they will definitely be vigilant, and no fool will take it lightly at this time.

If he really wants to be held accountable by the king, Baron Sika can also argue that the Snapdragon Army used the tactics of sneak attack and caught him off guard. The other nobles were wrong to say anything, after all, there was already a precedent before, and if they were sophistry, they might be beheaded by the king.

Quake looked at Aven, who was drinking hot water not far away, and the latter still didn't seem to have any waves, just looking at the map calmly, as if the bad things had not happened to him in the past few days.

"Everybody's in a meeting." Aven's voice could be heard in the distance.

After all the captains came, Aven began his own explanation.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I think you all feel uncomfortable in the past few days, as if our sharp blade has been pierced into the water."

At the mention of this, each captain's face was not very good-looking. Everywhere they went these days, the enemy could not hold out, and no matter how much they tried to lure and provoke, the enemy seemed to have not seen it.

As for the villages, the people inside had long since fled, taking everything they could take except for the empty houses.

"But I want to remind you that this is not to say that we are useless, but rather that this is an affirmation of the enemy against us."

"My lord, that's what I said, but aren't we here here to kill the enemy? Now the enemy has not fought a decisive battle with us, and it is useless for us to stay here all the time, and the supplies will be depleted."

Snich walked around in front of Evan with some irritation, grabbing his hair in hopes of coming up with a solution.

"Snicky doesn't need to rush. I've thought of a way a long time ago, but I don't think you dare, so I haven't told you."

Several captains were surprised and delighted, happy that their own adults had already thought of a way to deal with it, and surprised that their own adults actually said that they were not brave enough.

"My lord, don't say anything else. When we're scared, even if we're going to hell later, I won't frown."

The other captains looked at each other, trying to reach out and slap Snich, reminding him that only he wanted to go to hell and the others didn't. Evan laughed, he didn't believe it was true, but it sounded good.

"Well, we've been heading north before. From now on, the whole army will go south, to the East Anglolian border, in search of opportunities."

Listening to Aiwen's method, the tent was silent, and all the captains were shocked, even Snicky, who had just boasted about going to the sea, opened his mouth wide, swallowed his saliva with difficulty, and looked incredulous.

"My lord, didn't you say that the main forces of our two countries are facing off near the border? Isn't going to the border now looking for death?"

Evan nodded, signaling that he knew.

"That's right, but if we continue north, the enemies of the Earldom of Suffolk will hold the castle and won't come out to fight us. As you said yourself, we're going to consume all of our supplies. It's better to come near the border, maybe there are enemies who will come out to fight us with reinforcements close to each other."

Snicky swallowed with difficulty, feeling a little uneasy, Aven's words sounded like dancing on the edge of a cliff, and the slightest mistake would have killed him.

"My lord, military merit and defeat are always relative. The greater the possibility of defeat, the greater the military merit." Skuk said with a grin.

Lunatic...... The others couldn't help but mutter. Skuk wasn't angry, as if he hadn't heard.

"It's a lot of risk, if you don't do it, the whole army will be gone." Evan said calmly.

"I'm sure you can." Skuk didn't seem to care, as if it had nothing to do with him.

"Enemy! My lord, there are enemies! A lot of enemy ......."

A scout ran in out of breath and shouted.
