Chapter 3 Invitation to Dreams

"Happy Birthday! Little Norlin! The curtains were slammed open, and the blinding sunlight cast on the sleeping Nolin's face. Norlin opened his eyes in a daze, and saw his father and mother standing in the sun, looking at him with a smile.

Liana leaned down, kissed Norlin on the forehead, and said, "Get up!" It's your birthday today, and your dad has skipped a day's work to accompany you. ”

"Thank you, Dad." Norlin rubbed his eyes with difficulty, but a happy smile appeared on his face.

"Let's go, we'll go out after breakfast." Justin stroked Nolin's messy hair and walked out of the room.

Norlin began to wash up energetically, it was not important to go out to play, he had to greet the long-awaited good news with the most energetic attitude.

By the time she went downstairs, Liana had already prepared her breakfast. Norlin sat down at the table, picked up a steaming egg and ham sandwich, and ate it absentmindedly.

"Ding Dong!" The doorbell rang suddenly.

Norin almost jumped out of his chair when he heard the sound, shouted "I'll go open" and ran towards the door, leaving the couple looking at each other.

"Happy birthday Norin!" The door opened, and Harry met Norin with a blessed smile.

"It's you, Harry." Norlin was like a punctured ball, deflated, and barely sketched a smile, "Thanks." Come in and have fun. ”

"No, no, I'll have to go back soon." Harry waved his hand and took something out from behind him and handed it to Norin, "Here, birthday present!" ”

Norlin took it. It was a small wooden sword, not very well made, but the words "Happy Birthday Norin" were crookedly engraved on the hilt, which shows the painstaking efforts of the maker.

Harry scratched his head and said with some embarrassment, "I don't have any money, so I can only make a little thing for you." ”

Norin was once again slightly touched by the boy. He looked into Harry's eyes and thanked him earnestly.

"Who?" After sending Harry away, Liana asked curiously as she looked at the small wooden sword in Nolin's hand as she walked back.

"Harry." Norin replied casually, placing the wooden sword on the table, intending to carefully put it away later.

"Oh, that poor little one." Liana felt a little distressed when she heard this. All the neighbors of Privet Road had no affection for the skinny boy, thinking he was sloppy, acting weirdly, and smelling of cabbage. Only the Davis family knew how much he had suffered at the Dursleys. But as neighbors, they don't have a good way to give him some warmth.

Justin took out three pieces of coupon-like paper and put them on the table, peeled an egg, and said a little proudly: "Look, one of my customers gave me an amusement park admission ticket, let's go there first." ”

The corners of Norin's mouth twitched, he was long past the age of going to the playground. But looking at his happy parents, he was also casual. It's good if they're happy.

"Ding Dong!" The doorbell rang again.

Norlin tried to open the door again, but Liana pressed him into her chair and whispered, "I'll go." ”

Liana opened the door briskly, humming a little song, only to find it empty. Her eyes suddenly froze, staring at the black owl that flapped its wings and circled not far away. She looked down, and an envelope lay quietly at her feet.

"Hogwarts...... Really. Liana muttered under her breath. She picked up the envelope and looked at the iconic Hogwarts markings on it, as if a storm had gathered in her eyes, and countless images flashed in her eyes. Liana was silent for a moment, then smiled with relief.

"Little Norlin, it looks like your school has already settled!" Liana took the envelope and walked back briskly, looking at Norin and raising the letter in his hand.

Norlin's heart chuckled. He knew that the long-awaited letter had finally arrived, but it seemed that his mother knew. She was...... How do you know? Don't?

He took the envelope and wrote it clearly: Attn: Mr. Norlin Davies, 2nd Floor, 3 Privet Road, Little Whinging, Surreyshire. The envelope is made of heavy parchment, and the address is written in emerald green ink, without stamps. Norlin flipped the envelope over, revealing a wax seal, a shield coat of arms, and a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake surrounded by a capital "H."

Norlin felt his heart tremble. But he still pretended not to know, and opened the envelope with a blank expression.

Albus Dumbledore (President of the International Confederation of Magic, President of the Wizards' Guild, First Class Wizard of the Order of Merlin)

Dear Mr. Norlin Davis,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enclosed is a list of the required books and equipment. Semester is scheduled to begin on September 1. We will wait for your owl to hear back from you by July 31.

Vice-Chancellor (female) Minerva McGonagall

"School of Magic...... What is the meaning? Norlin looked up and stared at Liana with a puzzled expression. In the corner of his eye, his father Justin's expression looked very strange and complicated.

"School of magic, of course, is a school that teaches how to use magic!" Liana looked at her son and explained easily, "There is a special kind of people in this world, and they are called wizards, or magicians. And talent is a necessary condition for becoming a wizard. Little Norlin, do you remember when you were eight years old? ”

"You mean......" Nolin's heart stirred. Of course, he knew that when he was eight years old, his magic was rampant, and what made him uneasy was that his mother Liana's tone proved that she was also a wizard!

However, how could she never have seen her use a wizard's abilities in all these years?

"That's right, you almost burned down an entire garden. This phenomenon is known as the Magical Runaway, and is the clearest proof of a wizard's talent. Now, you have two choices, do you want to go to a magic school or go to Eton College? Liana's expression grew serious, this decision was about Nolin's future.

Norin's mind was a little messy. He turned his head, but what he saw was his father's supportive eyes.

"Little Norlin, whether it's the magic school your mother said or Eton College, follow your heart's choice. Daddy will always have your back. Justin quickly reined in his emotions and said with a smile as he rubbed Nolin's hair.

Norlin nodded speciously. He didn't rush to answer the question, even though he had it ten years ago. He looked at Liana and asked, "Mom, are you also a wizard?" Why have I never seen you use magic? ”

The gloom on Liana's face flickered. She glanced at her husband beside her and smiled: "Hmm...... For some reason, Mom was forbidden to use magic. Otherwise, Mom is very powerful! ”

Some of the reasons? Norin was thoughtful. He asked again, "Is Dad also a wizard?" ”

"Unfortunately, I'm not." Justin shrugged his shoulders as he grabbed Liana over the shoulders and stroked her hair dotingly, "But your mom is enough, isn't it?" ”

Daddy was a Muggle...... Some of the reasons that Mom said may come from this. Norin thought secretly, took a breath, and said seriously, "I'm going to Hogg...... By the way, Mom, where is Hogwarts? ”

"That won't be until you go." Liana smiled mysteriously, "Hogwarts is one of the top three schools of witchcraft and wizardry in Europe and the greatest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world. ”

"Then I decided. I'm going to be a magician. Norin took a deep breath and said seriously.

Liana didn't speak, just stared at him for a moment, a complicated look that flashed in her eyes that Norin had never seen before. After a while, she nodded. Now that the decision has been made, she will support it all the way. She took out an envelope from the cabinet and quickly wrote a letter and stuffed it in. She walked out the door with the letter, and Norlin was moved and followed.

It's sunshine and the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant. Liana waved her hand at an owl not far away, and the black owl immediately flew silently. Liana tied the letter to its paws, patted its little head affectionately, and whispered something beside it. Soon, the black owl flapped its wings and flew off into the distance.

Norlin looked up at the sky as the owl carrying his dream flew into the sky, leaving only a smaller and smaller black dot that eventually vanished without a trace.
