Chapter 4 The Guide
The days passed uneventfully. Before you know it, it's the end of August.
Liana was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen as usual, and the smell of potato and cheese soup wafted from time to time. Justin sat in his chair and watched the latest Times with relish. Norlin slumped on the couch, boredly manipulating the remote control to change channels, but didn't pay even a second of attention to the TV.
The letter from Hogwarts almost a month ago really took him by surprise. Mother Liana turned out to be an inconspicuous wizard...... This was a big surprise to him. In the following time, Norin frequently asked about the situation in the wizarding world, but Liana blinked her eyes instead of before, and let Norin find out for herself in the future.
The corners of Nolin's mouth twitched on the spot, and he was speechless, so he had to give up.
"Little Norlin, I haven't seen you go out lately." Justin looked up from the newspaper and asked with a slight puzzle in his tone.
ββ¦β¦ Too lazy to move. Norlin lay down on the couch and closed his eyes.
"That's not good, children need to exercise more." Justin said disapprehantly, "I think I was already alive and kicking around at your grandfather's house when you were so young." β
"Dad, I'm not a kid anymore." Norlin said helplessly, standing up, "Okay, I'll go play with Harry for a while, and I'll be back when lunch is ready." β
"Only a child will always think that he has grown up." Justin laughed in the back.
Norin shrugged his shoulders, the combined age of the two lives is almost forty years old, so I am about the same age as you, Dad......
However, when Norlin walked to the door, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Norin was stunned for a moment, and when he opened the door, his pupils contracted unconsciously.
Standing in front of the door was a tall, thin woman dressed strangely. She wears a top hat and her eyes are piercing under her square-rimmed glasses. The emerald cloak reaches the ground and has a special elegance.
She looked at Norin and said, "You must be Mr. Norlin Davis." β
"Who are you?" Norlin pretended to be surprised, but after the initial shock, he complained faintly, Professor McGonagall, you haven't changed your dress for ten years, right......
"I'm sure we'll get acquainted with each other in the future." Professor McGonagall didn't answer directly, asking, "Are your parents home?" β
"Yes. Come in. Norlin nodded, out of the way.
Professor McGonagall strode in, her cloak dragging on the floor without any stains. She walked to the living room and said to Justin, who was not far away, "Good afternoon, Mr. Davis." β
"Hello." Justin looked up in amazement, and was slightly stunned when he saw Professor McGonagall's dress. And in the depths of his eyes, a trace of ...... flashed Wrath?
Nolin, who followed Professor McGonagall, took in his father's fleeting look.
"Oh! Professor McGonagall! Hearing the noise, Liana poked her head out of the kitchen. After seeing the person clearly, he ran towards her with a cheer.
"Long time no see, Liana." A smile appeared on Professor McGonagall's unsmiling face. She gently hugged Liana as she rushed over.
"Long time no see. How could you...... Oh, I see. Liana was visibly surprised. The professor was one of the few people she respected.
"How have you been all these years?" Professor McGonagall asked with a smile.
"You know, we settled here 10 years ago. Now it seems that being a housewife is not bad. Liana replied, beckoning to Norlin, "Little Norlin, come here, this is Professor McGonagall, the Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts, and one of your future teachers." β
"Hello, Professor McGonagall." Norin bowed slightly and said with some respect.
"Hello." Professor McGonagall nodded and said to Liana, "I'm here to take him to Diagon Alley. After all, your situation is special, and Norlin can only be treated as a child of an ordinary Muggle family. β
"I know. Excuse me, Professor. Liana had already figured out the joints. She sniffed, suddenly screamed, and ran to the kitchen, "Ah, I'm still cooking!" Professor, stay and finish your lunch. β
"After all these years...... Professor McGonagall shook her head and smiled, "then it's troublesome, Mr. Davis." β
"How, it's our honor." Justin waved his hand. What made Norlin a little concerned was that since Professor McGonagall had said hello, his father had not said a word, and there was an indescribable weirdness on his face. He heard Professor McGonagall talking to him before he replied.
There are a lot of things I don't know. Norlin thought with a headache.
Lunch was potato cheese bisque and pasta. Professor McGonagall was full of praise, claiming that Liana's cooking skills had improved significantly. Norin endured it for a long time before he didn't say that sour and spicy shredded potatoes were the most authentic way to make potatoes. In the eleven years since he came to England, he has wanted to complain countless times about the British approach to potatoes. Frying, grilling, frying, steaming, and boiling can do anything, but they can't fry...... God knows how hard he endured after eating hot and cold mashed potatoes, chips, hash browns, etc.
Professor McGonagall is like an elegant aristocrat, even when dining, she embodies etiquette everywhere. After eating, she took a tissue and wiped her mouth, stood up, and showed her intentions.
"Little Norlin, wait a minute." Liana suddenly remembered something, took out a key and stuffed it in an envelope and handed it to Norin, then said to Professor McGonagall, "Professor, I need to take him to Gringotts." Here's my password, at Gringotts Underground Vault 24. β
"Okay." Professor McGonagall nodded in acknowledgment and turned and walked out of Nolin's house.
Norin glanced at the envelope, it was a letter from Hogwarts. After saying goodbye to his parents, he walked briskly after Professor McGonagall.
After they left, Justin, who was barely speechless at lunch, coldly shouted, "Liana ......"
"Honey, it's alright. Little Norlin was born to belong to that world. And it's time for us to do our thing. Liana smiled softly and added, "It's okay."
"I hope so." Justin's eyebrows slowly relaxed. He served another plate of mashed potatoes and exclaimed, "It's delicious." β
β¦β¦
Norlin and Professor McGonagall walked down the road, receiving the attention of passers-by. Norlin can understand, after all, such a strangely dressed woman walking down the street, anyone can't help but look twice.
Professor McGonagall seemed to have no notice of the astonished eyes of passers-by until she reached the station. Ten minutes from now there is a train to London. Norlin scratched his head and rushed to buy the ticket first, as he was afraid that Professor McGonagall didn't know much about the Muggle world.
On the train, people's eyes are still there. But Professor McGonagall was visibly unmoved, and she turned to Norlin and said, "Take out the letter and look at it, it contains a list of necessities." β
Norlin pulled out the parchment envelope and opened the second page of the letterhead: "New students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will need: three plain overalls (black), a plain peaked hat (black) to wear during the day, a pair of protective gloves (made of dragon skin or similar materials), and a winter cloak (black, silver buckle). Please note: All student attire must have a name tag on it. γTextbookγAll students are required to prepare the following books:

The letter was a bit long, and it took Norlin a few minutes to read it. He whispered it to Professor McGonagall, who smiled and said, "That's what you're here for." β
"Can you buy it in London?" Norin asked knowingly, looking innocently curious.
"As long as you know the doorway." Professor McGonagall said.
Apparently, Professor McGonagall had been to London. But she didn't come in an ordinary way, so even though she knew the way, she also caused a lot of inconvenience. After getting off the train, Norlin consciously went to buy a subway ticket for a place named by Professor McGonagall.
Soon, they were following the escalator to the street full of shops and crowds. Professor McGonagall looked at the escalator twice, visibly curious.
It's just an ordinary street, packed with ordinary people. Professor McGonagall led Norlin through the way, finally pausing slightly in front of a small bar, "We're here." β
