Chapter 8: The First Coming, Hogwarts

All sorts of beautiful scenes flashed by the car window. Endless verdant mountains, clear rivers and continuous arch bridges make this journey a beautiful and enjoyable journey.

Norin rubbed his eyes, stood up and stretched comfortably, and suddenly remembered something: "Speaking of which...... It's almost time to get to school, so we'd better get into our robes quickly. ”

"The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes, please leave your luggage on the train and we'll take you to the school." Coincidentally, the sound echoed through the train.

The girl who had filled her belly returned to her cold appearance, but the chill in her eyes when she looked at Norin was much less. She hummed softly.

Norlin found his black robe and walked out of the carriage. He closed the door, took off his coat, and changed into a black robe. While changing, I thought: The children of the Selwyn family can't afford to eat, right? Don't...... Got into trouble with your family?

It's no wonder Norlin is suspicious. Elena ate with an aristocratic air, but not at all slow. When Norlin habitually touched the table, he was shocked to find that it was empty. When he looked up, he saw Elena's embarrassed smile.

Norlin waited two minutes before re-entering the carriage, and Elena had already changed into her robes. The moment he entered, Norlin was unconsciously amazed for a moment. Elena, who changed into a black robe, had a sudden change in temperament, faintly exuding a sense of mystery. Norin was stunned for a moment, put away the books on the table, and said to her, "Let's go." ”

The train slowed down and finally stopped. The children in front of the car pushed and shoved, and you hugged me and squeezed out of the car. Norin frowned, simply stood where he was, and waited until the person was almost gone, and then got off the train with Elena.

It was evening when we arrived. The platform where the freshmen get off the train is small, dark, and weird. The cold wind blew through the robes, making a whooshing sound.

The school didn't keep the freshmen waiting too long. A lamp flickered silently above the students' heads, followed by a gruff voice shouting, "First-year freshmen! First-year students are here! ”

A figure almost three times the height of a freshman was like a wall, the same Hagrid that Norlin had seen that night ten years ago. He held a magic lamp in his right hand and smiled on his bearded face.

"Come, come with me. Are there any other first-year freshmen? Watch your feet! Alright, first-year students come with me! ”

The old students naturally knew how to go, and they left one after another in twos and threes. Norin and Elena were at the back, following the crowd forward.

They stumbled after Hagrid, seemingly descending a steep, narrow path. The trail was a bit wet, and Norlin had to watch his feet so as not to slip.

The freshmen in front of them suddenly exclaimed in surprise. At the end of the path, a black lake suddenly unfolded, shimmering with sparkling waves. On the high hillside on the other side of the lake rises a majestic castle, shrouded in unfathomable darkness. The castle is lined with spires, and windows twinkle under the stars.

Small boats are docked on the shore of the lake, gently swaying with the ripples. Hagrid shouted at the top of his voice, "Get on board!" No more than four people per boat! ”

One by one, the new students boarded the ship. Norin and Elena were at the back of the crowd, and the three of them got on the last boat, along with Hagrid, who was the last to go. A dozen small boats rowed across the calm lake and headed for the opposite side. Everyone was silent, staring at the huge castle that reached into the sky. As they approached the cliff where the castle was located, it seemed to rise above them.

"Keep your head down!"

As the first boat approached the cliff, Hagrid exclaimed. Everyone bowed their heads, and the boat carried them through the ivy veil that covered the front of the cliff to the secluded open entrance. Hagrid walked back to the front of the crowd, turned on the lights, and they followed a dark tunnel that seemed to lead to the castle underneath, and finally to what resembled an underground dock, and then climbed up to a ground of gravel and small pebbles. There was a tunnel on the ground that climbed up the rock, and after passing through it, it finally reached a flat, wet meadow in the shadow of the castle.

The freshmen ascended a flight of stone steps and gathered in front of a large oak door. Hagrid raised his massive fist and slammed the castle gate three times.

The door opened, and a tall black-haired witch in an emerald green robe stood in front of it, none other than Professor McGonagall.

"First-year freshman, Professor McGonagall." Hagrid said in a humming voice.

"Good work. I'll pick it up next. Professor McGonagall nodded.

She turned and opened the door, which was an eye-opening scene. The stone walls are surrounded by blazing torches, and the ceilings are so high that you can barely see the top. The façade is an ornate marble staircase that leads upstairs.

Professor McGonagall was the first to go inside, and the freshmen followed her down the stone floor with surprised expressions. However, instead of going straight to the hall, she led the freshmen to a small, empty room around the corner.

"Welcome to Hogwarts," Professor McGonagall said, "the opening party is about to begin, but before you get to the dining hall and take your seats, you should first determine which house you are going to. The Sorting House is an important ritual because while you are in school, the House is like your home at Hogwarts. You will attend classes with other students in the college, live in the college dormitory together, and spend your free time together in the common room of the college.

"The names of the four houses are: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own glorious history and has produced outstanding witches and wizards. During your time at Hogwarts, your outstanding performance will add points to your house, and any violation will deduct points for the house. At the end of the year, the college with the highest score receives the House Cup, which is a high honor.

In a few minutes, the sorting ceremony will be held in front of all the teachers and students of the school. I suggest that you get in order and be refreshed while you wait. ”

Her gaze swept sharply in front of Norin. A boy with a crooked robe next to Norin stagnated and hurriedly put on his robe. Professor McGonagall nodded in satisfaction and said, "I'll pick you up when it's ready." While waiting, please be quiet. ”

After Professor McGonagall left, Norlin visibly felt a sigh of relief from the people around him.

"It's stricter than you thought it would be......" Norlin said to himself.

"What? Have you met Professor McGonagall before? Hearing this, Elena asked with some curiosity.

"Hmm." Norlin replied, "It's Diagon Alley where she took me." ”

Elena looked at him in surprise, but didn't say anything. The freshmen around me have already begun to chatter and discuss, such as "how to divide the college", "which house do you want to join", and so on.

A few minutes later, Norlin looked around a little boredly, only to be stunned to find a group of ghosts emerging from the wall. There were a few screams from the crowd, and even Elena's body next to her tensed a little. The pearly white, translucent ghosts glided across the room, turning heads and ears, paying little attention to the first-year students. After all, they have seen countless new students in their long time.

"Hopefully they didn't scare you." Professor McGonagall pushed the door open. She bowed slightly to the ghosts, who fluttered across the opposite wall and disappeared.

"Now, line up in a row and follow me."

Norin consciously stood at the back, and Elena barely moved, naturally in the penultimate position. They walked out of the room, through the foyer, and through a double door at the back into the lavish dining room.

It's a magical, wonderful, palatial place. The rest of the classes were already sitting around four long tables, and on top of the table was a long table where the teachers were seated. Above, starlight shimmers on a velvety pitch-black ceiling.

Professor McGonagall brought them to the teacher's desk and lined them up with their backs to the whole class, with the teacher behind them. The lights flickered, and hundreds of faces staring at them were like pale lanterns.

Professor McGonagall brought a quadrangular stool and placed it in front of the freshman, and placed a wizard's hat on the stool. The hat was patched, worn out, and looked extremely dirty.

Sure enough, it was sloppy. Standing at the end of the crowd, Norin Rao knew something about the sloppiness of the Sorting Hat, but he couldn't help but spit out.
