Chapter 460: Bringing Game of Thrones to the Stage (19)

Throughout the world of Game of Thrones, the story takes place mainly on the continent of Westeros, the smallest of the three known continents.

It looks like the islands of Great Britain and Ireland are a patchwork, but it's the size of South America in the setting.

To the west of Westeros is the Sea of Sunset, and to the west of the Sea of Sunset is unknown; To the east, it is separated by the Narrow Sea from another continent, Essos.

At one time, Westeros and Essos were the same continent, connected by a land bridge on the narrow sea known as the "Arm of Dorne".

The natives of Westeros are the children of the forest, who believe in a white trunk and red leaves of the fishbeam, carving human faces into the fishbeam, and making pilgrimages.

Later, however, the first wave of immigrants from Essos, the Ancestors, came to Westeros from the Arm of Dorne.

However, due to the gentle nature of the children of the forest, the ancestors did not like to find trouble, and the ancestors and the children of the forest began to get along quite harmoniously.

However, the expansion of civilization led to the discovery of fish beams.

The ancestors did not know that this was the church of the Children of the Forest, and thought it was an ordinary tree, so they cut down wood and built houses.

The sons of the forest were furious, believing that the ancestors had declared war on them, and a war broke out between the ancestors and the sons of the forest.

The Children of the Forest live in harmony with nature and use magic.

The earliest warriors of the ancestors carried bronze weapons and horsemanship.

The Children of the Forest don't know how to forge and can only use dragon crystal ore (obsidian) to make arrowheads.

As a result, the ancestors easily overthrew the children of the forest, and the war ended with a peace agreement signed at Qianmian Island.

According to the agreement, the ancestors were given all the open land, and the sons of the forest kept the forest.

However, the Green Prophet of the Children of the Forest used his magic to shatter the Arms of Dorne connecting Essos and Westeros during the war, and used dragon crystals to plunge into the hearts of the captured ancestors, turning them into strangers.

The strange ghost is ice blue all over, especially the terrifying eyes with blue. They can assimilate corpses into new aliens.

After four thousand years of breeding, the Wraiths have become a mysterious race from the Far North, and the invasion of the Wraiths has weakened the peace agreement.

They swept across the southern part of Westeros, leaving behind endless death and ruins, followed by long nights that lasted almost a generation and winters that lasted for decades. Eventually, the Ancestors and the Children of the Forest joined forces to defeat the Wraith in the Battle of Dawn and built a massive Wall of Desperation on its way south.

About two thousand years after the Battle of Dawn, the Andals, wielding iron weapons and riding horses, crossed the Narrow Sea with their faith in the Seven Gods.

They landed in the Vale of Arryn and quickly defeated the Southern Kingdom.

However, they were not able to conquer the geographically advantageous northern kingdoms.

Seven powerful kingdoms then emerged on the continent of Westeros: the Kingdom of the North, the Kingdom of the Valley, the Kingdom of Riverland, the Kingdom of Kaiyan, the Kingdom of Riverwan, the Kingdom of Storm, and the Kingdom of Dorne.

Later, due to the growing power of the distant Valyrian Empire, a large number of the inhabitants of the eastern continent on the banks of the River Loyna became refugees, and landed at the southernmost point of Westeros under the leadership of their warrior queen Namelia.

The Leynars allied themselves with the local lord Morse Terre and conquered Dorne and established another powerful kingdom.

Five centuries later, Fort Fredra Valyria expanded and reached the Narrow Sea, establishing contact with Westeros and using Dragonstone as a treaty port.

However, just a century later, Valyria Fort was completely destroyed in a catastrophe known as the apocalypse of Valyria.

The Valyrians and Targaryens, who controlled Dragonstone, spent more than a century reserving their forces before landing in Westeros under the leadership of Aegon the Conqueror and embarking on the road to conquest.

Despite their small army, they possessed the last three dragons in the Western world, and with them, they conquered entire continents.

Six of the Seven Kingdoms were subjugated in the initial war, but Dorne resisted so violently that Aegon agreed to keep them independent.

The House of Targaryen also abandoned their old god beliefs in favor of the Seven Gods (although they still violated their faith and intermarried brother and sister according to the Valyrian tradition) and followed the customs of Westeros.

Over the next few decades, the Targaryens extinguished all rebellions against their rule.

The dragons became extinct 150 years after Aegon's conquest, but the House of Targaryen still ruled Westeros as rulers, and their dominance was not materially threatened.

Later, Aerys Targaryens, the seventeenth king of House Targaryen, became the ruler of Westeros.

Aerys is insane, cruel, violent, and irritable, and is known as the "Mad King".

He had two sons, the eldest son, Rhaegar Targaryen, and the second son, Viserys Targaryen.

Handsome, powerful, and beloved by the populace, Rhaegar married Princess Elia Martell of Dorne and had two children:

Rhaenys Targaryen and Aegon Targaryen.

The head of the Lannister family, Tywin Lannister, held the position of "Hand of the King" (former Prime Minister), and he had three children:

Twin siblings Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, and Tyrion Lannister.

Tywin loves Cersei and Jaime, but hates Tyrion, partly because he is a dwarf, and partly because his mother, Joanna, died in childbirth when he was born.

At the age of fifteen, Jaime joined the Mad King Aerys' Kingsguard, the youngest member of this legendary knightly ranks.

In order to strengthen the friendship between the families, Robert Baratheon, the eldest son of House Baratheon, and Eddard Stark, the second son of House Stark, became the adopted son of Jon Arryn, the head of House Arryn, and the two became brothers and sisters.

Robert is engaged to Eddard's sister Lyanna Stark and loves her very much.

At the same time, Eddard's older brother Brandon is engaged to Caitlin Tully, the eldest daughter of the Tully family, in what is known as "The Wrong Spring".

Harrenhal hosts a grand jousting tournament, and Prince Rhaegar becomes the champion.

Varys had warned Aerys that his son, Prince Rhaeggar, wanted to gather the nobles to overthrow his father's regime under the guise of attending the Harrenhal tournament.

For this reason, Aerys, who has not left the Red Keep since the Twilight Rebellion, will personally go to the tournament.

Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy (who later regretted that he wanted to dedicate the crown to his long-time crush Ashara, but he still focused on the big picture, who would have thought that a series of such fucking things would happen later) deliberately lost to him, hoping that if he ascended the throne, Westeros would be a little better.

In choosing the queen of love and beauty, Rhaegar surprising the audience at the tournament by surpassing his wife, Princess Elia, and presenting the crown of the Winter Snow Rose to the noble lady of the North, Lyanna Stark.

Rhaegar took Lyanna with him.

Lyanna's eldest brother, Brandon, breaks into the palace and threatens to kill Rhaeggar.

The Mad King Aerys arrests Brandon and summons his father, Rickard Stark, to cook him alive in front of Brandon.

Brandon was tied to a custom-made torture device, a sword was slightly out of his reach, and in the struggle to save his father, Brandon was strangled to death by the mechanism on the torture device.

Aerys demanded that Jon Arryn hand over the heads of Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon, but Jon refused and took the lead in raising the flag of rebellion in the East.

Eddard, who succeeded to the title of Duke of Winterfell, also rebelled in the North, and the Usurper War officially began.

After a series of negotiations and engagements, four of the Seven Families (Baratheon, Stark, Arryn, and Tully) joined forces to rebel against the Mad King's rule.

As a condition of the alliance, Ed married his brother Brandon's fiancée, Catelyn Tully, and Jon Arryn married Catelyn's virginity-losing sister Lysa Tully.

On one side are the Targaryens, the Tyrells, and Martels, and the main generals are Rhaegar Targaryen, the "Red Viper" Oberon Martell, and the possession of King's Landing, Dorne, and the High Court.

This includes the royal fiefdoms of the Seven Kingdoms, the Kingdom of Dorne and King's Landing, as well as the royal fiefdoms of the other kingdoms.

On one side are House Stark, House Baratheon, House Arryn, House Tully, and the main lords are Eddard Stark, Robert Baratheon, Jon Arryn, and Horst Tully.

Possess Winterfell, Eagle's Nest, Rushing City, Storm's Rest, etc., including the Northern Kingdom, the Valley Kingdom, the Riverland Kingdom, and the Storm Kingdom.

When Duke Jon Arryn raised the banner of righteousness, many of his vassals sided with the king.

Chief among them was Earl Grafson, who gathered other royalists to help him block the rebels' entry into the port of Seagull.

Eddard Stark decided to head north on his own and return north via the Five Fingers Peninsula.

Robert Baratheon, on the other hand, followed the Rebels in the capture of Seagull Town. Robert sails back to Storm's End.

In this way, Eddard and Robert gathered their vassals, and the rebel army grew in size.

The union of Eddard and Catelyn, Jon Arryn and Ryza marks the union of House Stark, House Tully and House Arryn, and House Tully joins the Rebels.

However, a similar situation played out in the valley as in the Riverlands, where not all of the Tully's vassals were willing to follow the vassal and raise the banner of rebellion.

The Leggs, Dareys, and Murtons remained loyal to the Targaryens, while the Freys remained ambiguous until the situation became clear, and Wald Frey's army did not arrive until the rebels were victorious at the Battle of the Trident.

From then on, his vassal Horst Tully called him the late Marquis de Frey.

After all the revolt forces gathered, it was unanimously decided that Robert would become the leader of the uprising. Because his grandmother was Layla Targaryen, the daughter of Aegon V.

With the exception of the Mad King Aerys II, his children and grandsons, Robert was the most powerful heir to the throne.

In response, Aerys II summoned his own vassals. All vassals of House Targaryen unanimously responded with a declaration of loyalty.

House Tyrells and House Martell have expressed their loyalty to the Iron Throne with their respective vassals, including House Redwin and House Hightower.

However, Duke Tywin Lannister, who had recently resigned as Hand of the King, and his Lannister family, which he led, blatantly ignored the call of the Targaryen royal family.

The Greyjoy family of the Iron Islands has remained neutral in the midst of the war.

Battle of Midsummer Hall: This battle actually refers to three battles in a single day.

On that day, the ruins of Robert's Summer Hall defeated the Earl of Carvolon and the Earl of Grandson, and slain the Earl of Fair, all of whom were stormily loyal to the royal power.

After the war, Silveraxe, son of Earl Grandson, Earl of Carvolon, and Count Fair, joined Robert's rebel army.

After his victory, Robert led the captives back to Storm's End (Stannis recalls seeing Robert and the captives drinking and chatting in Storm's End).

According to analysis, Robert may have returned to Storm's End in the hope that he would be able to gather more troops (especially those of the Wallgrass nobles) after defeating the Royalists in Stormlands.

Subsequently, he led his troops westward to the border with Riverlands, and according to analysis, his actions may have been aimed at meeting the attacks of the Riverlands nobles (led by the High Court and loyal to the royal family) and ensuring the safety of the Stormlands.

After Robert left, he left only a small number of troops in Stormlands and Stormrest, led by Robert's second brother Stannis, and his younger brother Lanley remained at Storm's End.

Battle of Poplar Beach: After the lords of the Stormlands unite and follow Robert Baratheon to raise the banner of rebellion, Robert leaves his brother Stannis Baratheon in command of the defense while he advances west into the Poplar Stall.

Poplar Beach in the Bend Lands, loyal to the High Court and a fortress loyal to the House of Targaryen.

Robert may have wanted to ensure that the western flank of the Stormlands army was not threatened by the forces of the Tyrells (Tyrells could muster the largest number of troops in the kingdom) by capturing Poplar Beach.

Otherwise, he could be beaten by Randolph Tully.

Under the command of Count Randolph Tully, the vanguard of the Tyrells' army charged on Robert Baratheon's army, and the battle began.

Tully's forces routed Robert's forces, and Robert was forced to leave the battlefield before Tyrrell's main force could join the fray.

Earl Cavron, who had previously been loyal to House Targaryen, joined the Rebels after being captured at the Battle of Midsummer Hall. Killed by Count Randolph Tully while fighting for Robert in Poplar Beach.

The Count of Landau presented his head to Aerys II.

On the Riverlands, a casualty record mentions that Sir Quentin Tyrell, Duke Mace's nephew, was killed in battle.

Tyrion Lannister commented that the outcome of the battle was inconclusive, so it is likely that the battle was not very large, and that Robert's army did not suffer much damage.

However, in the face of such a large number of Tyrells' main army, Robert had no choice but to pull his forces away from the Stormlands and head north to seek alliances with his allies.

To this end, he made a rapid march to the riverland.

On the other hand, Robert took his troops away from the Stormlands, allowing the victorious Tyrells to invade the Stormlands and besiege Storm's End, which was guarded by Robert's brother Stannis Baratheon.
