Chapter 461: Bringing Game of Thrones to the Stage (20)
Battle of the Bells:
After the defeat at Poplar Beach, Robert Baratheon swung north from the junction of Stormlands and Riverlands.
He will most likely wish to join his allies Stark, Tully, and Arryn.
It is unknown what happened between Poplar Beach and the Stone Church, but Robert was wounded on the way, and he was hiding from searchers at the Temple before the battle.
After Jon Clinton took control of the town, he sent soldiers to search for Robert Baratheon.
But when the Turry Stark coalition reached the Stone Church, they still couldn't find him. A fierce exchange of fire ensued between the two sides. Jon Clinton severely wounded Horst Tully and killed Jon Arryn's heir and nephew, Dennis Arryn.
That's when Robert appeared and launched a counteroffensive (most likely along with his followers).
Although Robert later insisted that it was Eddard Stark who sealed the victory, the counteroffensive did reverse the course of the campaign.
Jon Clinton realized that defeat was inevitable, and ordered the rest to retreat.
Given the intensity of the battle and the location where it took place (towns, street battles), Jon Clinton's ability to rally his forces and direct the retreat was heroic.
Nevertheless, King Aerys II did not think so.
As a result of the failure of the suppression of the rebel army, the king deprived him of his fief and expelled him.
This defeat made King Aerys realize that Robert's rebellion was not the whim of an outlaw lord, but the greatest threat to Targaryens' rule since Daemon Blackfire.
Battle of the Trident: The Battle of the Trident was arguably one of the reversals in the Usurper Campaign, and after the defeat at the Battle of the Bells, King Aerys II finally realized that the rebels were the main threat to the House of Targaryens, and perhaps the greatest threat to the dynasty since Daemon Blackfire.
The rebels assembled on the east bank of the Green Fork, and when the Stark Baratheon coalition joined forces with the Tullyan coalition, they were strong enough to threaten King's Landing.
Under the command of Robert Baratheon, they marched south along the King's Road to the main crossing of the Trident.
At the same time, Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen reappeared and took command of the Royalist Army.
King Aerys graciously reminded Princess Elia of the Martell family that they were in their hands, and sent her uncle, Löven Martell, a member of the Kingsguard, to lead an army of 10,000 Dorn north along the King's Road to join the royalists of Rhaegar at the Trident.
At the same time, Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jonoso Darey were sent out to gather Jon Clinton's scattered army and join Rhaegar's royalist army.
Moreover, Rhaegar had persuaded his father to seek Tywin Lannister's help.
Although the royalist nobles Mace Tyrell and Paxter Redwyn were besieging Storm's End with both land and sea forces, none of the southern armies were asked to move north.
Eventually, Rhaegar led 40,000 royalist troops headed north along the King's Road to the main crossing of the Trident, which was the most likely route for the rebels.
The battle took place on the Green Fork River in the Trident, which later became known as the crossing of Ruby Beach.
The Dorne army led by Prince Löven Martell against Robert's left flank.
Ser Lynn Cobray picked up his sword after his father was wounded and charged through the Dorne army.
During this onslaught, Sir Lynn encountered the wounded Prince Löven, and after a fight, he killed him.
In this battle, "Barristan the Fearless" killed several enemies, and Robert himself was present in the battle and engaged in a one-on-one battle with Rhaegar in a decisive battle.
Although many great nobles and knights died in this battle, it was the moment when Robert killed Rhaegar with a single blow with a war hammer that determined the outcome of this battle.
The blow was so powerful that the rubies used to decorate Rhaegar's armor shattered and fell into the river, which is where the name Ruby Beach comes from (the soldiers on both sides stopped fighting to pick up Rhaegar's rubies).
The leaderless royalist army collapsed and fled in all directions.
The victory in this battle determined the outcome of the war.
The rebels have opened the way to King's Landing, and the last remaining forces of the Royalists have been thrown into the siege of Storm's End, just as reinforcements from the Lannisters are arriving at King's Landing.
Robert was wounded in the battle, so Eddard Stark led his army south along King's Road to the capital, trying to reach King's Landing before Lannister reinforcements arrived.
The dying Sir Barristan was brought before Robert, and the nobles, led by Bolton, demanded that Barristan be executed.
Robert's admiration for Barristan's courage and the fact that the Sermie family were vassals of the Stormlands not only spared him death, but also allowed his own bachelors to heal his wounds.
Fall of King's Landing: The fall of King's Landing took place a year after the outbreak of the uprising. Until now, Duke Tywin Lannister, who had been neutral, took advantage of the help of the university scholar Paxiel to open the gates of the city and ransack King's Landing in the name of Robert.
When Aerys learns of this, he summons his pyromancer Rosat to light the wildfires that fill King's Landing.
Aerys orders Jaime Lannister, one of the Kingsguards, to kill his father.
However, Jaime kills Rosat and then Aerys on the Iron Throne (hence Jaime's nickname "The Kingkiller").
Varys advises Aerys not to open the gates to Tywin Lannister and not to trust him.
This time, however, Aerys listened to the advice of the national teacher, Paihir, and opened the gates to the Lannisters.
Sir Jaime Lannister, one of the witnesses to the incident, was ironic, and this was probably the only time Aerys should have accepted Varys' advice, but he had not.
Tywin also sent Gregor Clegane and Amori Lodge to brutally eliminate the remaining members of the Targaryen royal family: Princess Elia, Prince Aegon (who was now proven undead and was rescued by Varys), and Princess Rhaenys.
Ed arrives shortly after, only to find Jaime sitting on the Iron Throne, with Aerys' corpse below.
The brutality against members of the Targaryen royal family sparked a bitter argument between Ed and Robert, and Ed led his troops south alone to complete the final battle.
At this point, the great wars were over, and the Targaryen dynasty had fallen.
Advance to Dragonstone: After the siege of Storm's End was lifted, Stannis was tasked with leading a fleet to attack Dragonstone, the last stronghold of the Targaryens.
Nine months or more before the fall of King's Landing, Queen Layla fled to Dragonstone with Prince Viserys and Ser William Darey.
After the queen gave birth to Daenerys Targaryen, she died, and at the same time, a violent storm destroyed the moored Targaryen fleet.
Before Stannis's army arrived, the defenders of Dragonstone had wavered in their intention to surrender, and Sir William and a handful of guards smuggled Viserys, Daenerys, and her wet nurse to Braavos.
There, the last Targaryen bloodlines began their life in exile.
Battle of the Tower of Elysium: The Sword of Dawn is not found in Trident, King's Landing, or Storm's End, Sir Arthur Dayne, Sir Oswell Riveran, or Ser Geralt Hightower, the captain of the Kingsguard.
They were ordered to guard a tower called the "Tower of Bliss", which was located in the Crimson Mountains of Dorne. Prince Rhaegar placed Lyanna Stark in it.
After relieving the siege of Storm's End, Eddard and six of his subordinates (Holland Reed, William Dustin, Ethan Glover, Martin Kesso, Theo Wolle, and Mark Leswell) traveled to the Tower of Elysium in an attempt to retrieve Lyanna.
Seven against three, only Ed and Horan survived. Lyanna asks Ed to keep a promise (possibly entrusting him with Rhaeggar's son, Jon Snow, and keeping it a secret) and dies shortly after.
After that, Eddard traveled to Starfall to return Arthur's sword "Dawn" to his sister Ashara Dane, and recuperated in Starfall City. Later, the Pagoda of Bliss was demolished and eight tombs were built (3 guards and 5 vassals).
He then takes Lyanna's corpse and Jon back to the North, falsely claiming that Jon is his illegitimate son. Shortly thereafter, Ashara Dane committed suicide by throwing herself into the sea.
The revolt was successful, and the Targaryens were ousted from the top of power, and all the members of the family were slaughtered, with the only two survivors, Viserys Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen (and Rhaeggar's son Aegon), living in exile across the Narrow Sea.
Robert Baratheon ascended the Iron Throne and appointed Jon Arryn as his Hand of the King.
Due to the death of Lyanna Stark after being "kidnapped" by Rhaegar Targaryen, Robert married Cersei Lannister.
Arryn traveled to Dorne to sign an armistice, and the Seven Kingdoms were finally reunited under the name of the new king, Robert I.
Although the Seven Kingdoms are nominally unified, each lord has its own evil intentions.
Although the Baratheon dynasty was established, it failed to maintain the stability it should have, and instead the war of the usurpers became a foreshadowing for the subsequent war of the five kings.
Because the Lannisters killed Princess Elia during the fall of King's Landing, they had a grudge against the Martell family, and Robert's marriage to Cersei also laid the groundwork for the chaos that followed.
Stannis Baratheon was given Dragonstone, and there was resentment in his heart. Thus the reign of the Baratheon dynasty buried a crisis.
Ryza's husband, Lord Jon, Hand of the King, discovers that all of King Robert Baratheon's children are not his own, but are born of incest between Jaime Lannister and Cersei Lannister, and decides to inform the King of this discovery.
Littlefinger expertly controls Lysa to poison her husband, telling her that this is the only way to stop him from giving his son away as an adopted son.
After Lord Jon's death, he had Lysa write a letter to her sister Catelyn accusing Queen Cersei Lannister of poisoning Lord Jon in order to provoke the two wolf and lion families, and by the way, encourage Ned to go south.
Petyr Baelish's great-grandfather was a mercenary swordsman from Braavos who worked for the Cobray family, so when his son became a Knight of Oaths, he chose the Titan's head as his family crest.
Lord Barich's father was the smallest of the many minor lords, and only the smallest of the Five Fingers Peninsula owned some rocky lands.
During the Battle of the Nine Bronze Kings, his father formed a friendship with the Tully family, so Petyr was sent to Riverrun as an adopted son.
In Riverrun, Petyr grew up as a ward with people who were much higher than him. The Tully children, Caitlin, Lysa, and Edmure Tully, were also the first to give him the nickname "Littlefinger", which comes from his family's domain.
When they grow up, Petyr falls in love with Catelyn, but Catelyn treats him like a brother and has no other affection.
When Caitlin was engaged to Brandon Stark, Petyr asked Brandon Stark, who was much older than him, to fight a duel for her.
Brandon Stark won easily, but was spared Baelish's life at Catelyn's request.
Caitlin never spoke to him since, and burned every letter Petyr wrote to her after Brandon Stark's death.
Unlike her sister, Lysa Tully, who had been in love with Petyr since she was a child, ignored his crush on Catelyn, and slept with him while Petyr was drunk at Catelyn's refusal.
A delirious Petyr may have mistaken Lysa for Catelyn, and did call her "Catelyn" that night.
From then on he claimed that he had taken the first night of the Tully sisters.
Soon after, Lysa became pregnant with Petyr's child.
When Horst Tully found out, he demanded that Lysa drink the moon tea to kill the child and banish Petyr from Riverrun, as the Baelishes were too weak to marry the Tullys.
Petyr had been on an affair with Lysa Tully, even after she married Jon Arryn, who convinced Jon Arryn to promote Petyr to the position of tax collector in Seagull Town.
After he had increased the local tax revenue tenfold, Lord Jon began to promote him again and again, until he eventually became Chancellor of the Exchequer to King Robert Baratheon.
His wealth and influence have earned him many allies and outlets, including the King's Landing Guard, and he runs a women's ward, not only for money but also for news.
With these resources as a basis, Berish quickly gained a great increase in political power through a series of lies and betrayals.
…
After writing and putting away the pen, Li Yaoyang rubbed his sore wrist, looking at the piles of manuscripts in front of him, he still felt a sense of accomplishment in his heart.
Although it was a copy, he added some ideas of his own to it, and presented many of the seemingly illogical or incomprehensible parts of the original work in clearer and clearer words.
He believes that his version of Game of Thrones is bound to become a century-old classic.
Take 10,000 steps back and say, even if someone doesn't approve of it, he can turn it into a classic through hype.
People are very smart, but sometimes they are also stupid, and the vast majority of people do not have the ability to think independently, and they accept what others tell them.
Maybe one person says it's good, and you don't approve of it, but if 100 people, 1,000 people say it's good, even if you think it's bad, you will be vague, and you will wonder in your heart: Is my idea wrong?
A book, a painting, a word, when everyone says that he is good, you will subconsciously feel that it is good, this is also psychology, capital itself is a game of psychology!
