Lu Xun's letters were collected by Xu Guangping one after another, and in June 1937, a photocopy of Lu Xun's Letters was published by Sanxian Bookstore, which received 69 letters. Later, in October 1946, Lu Xun's Complete Works Publishing House published a lead edition of Lu Xun's Letters, containing 855 letters and 3 fragments. In the ninth and eleventh volumes of "The Complete Works of Lu Xun" published by our society in 1958, a total of 334 letters were received; The 1976 edition of Lu Xun's Letters contains 1,381 letters (including 96 letters to Japanese people) and 18 appendices.

This time, a total of 1,333 letters, 112 letters to foreigners, and 12 appendices were included. Except for the letters that have been found in Lu Xun's self-compiled anthology and the "Collection of Extra-Collections", all of Lu Xun's letters found so far have been included.

The points to be explained are as follows: (1) The letters received are numbered in the order of the date of writing. For example, on October 8, 1904, the number is 041008; On 29 May 1934, the number was 340529. If there are several letters on the same day, add (1) and (2) after the number in the order contained in the Diary...... For remembering.

(2) Letters written before 1912, originally dated in the summer calendar, are now in the order of the folded Gregorian calendar. Those who have omitted the date have been added to the diary and marked with the number []; Date errors have been corrected and marked with the [] sign. Some of the original early letters have no punctuation, but have been tried to be supplemented and noted in the notes to the relevant letters.

(3) The letters received are arranged according to handwriting, and if there is no handwriting but according to the copy, the source shall be indicated in the relevant letter notes.

(4) The ancient characters used in the originals, except for those who need to be preserved, have been changed to the current common characters.

(5) The original addendum and the words and sentences in the form of clips, arranged in a smaller number of characters; Whether parentheses are added or not, all according to the original.

(6) Typographical errors in the original shall be corrected in the following ways: misspellings (including reversals), using the [] sign, and imitating Song style; Missing words, with [] number, imitation Song style; Derivation, with [11] number, unchanged font; In doubt, use [?] ] No.
