Chapter 7: Attention
I cursed my car because the road made it bumpy again. When the sisters decided to leave their hideout early in the morning, my recuperation was cut short. I wasn't surprised that they decided to run, but their swift and abrupt departure made me make some adjustments to my plans.
The original plan was to confront them over their presence in my territory. Since they grabbed the car and drove south, I had to follow...... With my red SLK. What demon rode me to get SLK!? It is the most useless for mountain trails. Well, maybe it's not a completely wrong choice, because a sane person would use the highway to leave the country.
I snorted and tried to imagine a mental map with their route. At first they were going in the direction of the highway, then they made a sharp turn and left the city and entered a smaller valley just to take a mountain road to another valley. And now they are moving in the direction of Italy. Their behavior is volatile, to say the least. Or maybe because they were hunted? Are their brothers tracking them, and can they sense them somehow?
If their remaining seven clan members catch them, it could be a problem. With the pedals pressed, I drove faster and leaned at every turn in the curvy road. Well, maybe it's not so bad to participate in the SLK. This one is interesting.
By using their energy tracking, I caught up with their car twenty minutes later. It was a random rental car, so I slowed down and saw where they were going now. The road was overgrown with forests on both sides, and to my surprise, they entered an unmodified forest road, which was nothing more than a logging road for lumberjacks. Their car ran a few meters but was stuck on the road for ten meters.
I would never violate my SLK by following them. Instead, I drove past them, stopped at the next curve, and pulled over to the side of the road. Picking up my gun, I went outside and walked a few meters on foot in the snow. Just a few meters from the street, the snow was knee-high. When I saw the other car again, I was happy to watch my sister try to push the car out of the snowdrift where it was.
When the young man said something, her sister gave up trying to release the car. The two hurried down the path into the forest.
Considering the possibility of traps, I stayed at my post. Are they trying to cater to my hunting instincts? Do they know I'm stalking them? In fact, I'm torn between hunting them like a beast and doing something smart and calling them out.
I fiddled with my coat and tried to retrieve the cigarette. When a figure rushed off the street and stopped in front of their car, my attempt failed. After glancing at their car, he ran in the direction they had chosen. I quickly raised my gun, but all the trees hindered my aim. Putting down the gun, I followed them into the woods, soon hoping that I had snowshoes.
The forest was quiet and there was no one around, so I channeled the magic with my feet and jumped high several times to catch up.
Five minutes later, I found them. Annia and Sely leaned against the wall of a chapel on the slope. The chapel is housed in a small cemetery. These ancient buildings are not uncommon around these woods, as small villages were often abandoned during the Dark Ages. The chapel is usually the only stone building, so the rest of the village is gone, while the religious houses still exist, only to be renovated much later by the government or forest owners.
The two sisters were squeezed into a corner by four men. The sisters are talking to their hunters about something. A quick survey of the area revealed the three remaining. They have taken a farther position to cut off possible escape routes. One of them was just thirty meters away, halfway up the slope.
There is such a good opportunity to reduce the number of enemies that I can't help but seize it. Jumping forward, I fell on my ass and slid down the slope. On the way I drew my favorite knife. It is a large hunting knife that can almost be counted as a machete. The blacksmith who made me joked that I actually wanted to kill a bear with it. Well, that's close enough to the truth.
The man who was waiting for time from my position turned around when he heard me sliding across the snow. He's just a little too slow. Before he could finish the turn, I collided with his foot. He let out a grunt as his foot kicked away from underneath him. All I had to do was raise the knife.
When he landed on me, it pierced straight through him. I twisted my weapon to make sure he couldn't fight. A low, shrill voice escaped from him, but nothing more. I roll us and occupy the highest position. Then I pulled out my knife and slashed at his throat. It takes four blows and a little sawing before the head falls off.
Unlike what is shown in the movie, there is no fountain of blood here. Although it is still fast enough to dye the snow red.
When I looked up, I grunted, thankful that no one had noticed the little drama. All the attention was on these two women. From my new position, I have a perfect view of the church. My victim chose his place well. I climbed to a nearby tree and put the gun in the right place.
I pricked up my ears and tried to understand their voices. My goal is the eldest of the two sisters.
The older ones are the real beauties. In fact, she is the most beautiful woman I have ever met. Her face is a lovely blend of femininity and authority. Even though she was wearing winter clothes, they did a terrible job of hiding her feminine features. If I just shoot her, then the men will take them out of my territory.
"you! You can step back and go home! Tell the patriarch that if he likes his allies so much, he can submit to himself. You will never take Anne with you. ”
But if they leave my territory and reach their goal, it will set a bad example. I chewed on my inner lip, hoping that I had brought some kind of shrapnel bomb to wipe them out completely.
"Come with us. Don't you know that you can't run away forever? ”
I aim for the speakers. If I had shot first, those women would have fled and left my territory.
"We can and we will. Try me! ”
At that moment, the girl tugged at her sister's clothes. The two looked at each other and nodded. That's when everything goes to hell.
The previous speaker jumped forward, and Sailly rushed over to intercept him. They clashed, and the man tried to subdue her. Although it wasn't easy, as the man was trying to grab it from his face, which made her much less attractive.
Instead of betting on my luck with these two struggling opponents, I set my sights on the only one standing still. The other two went to find the girl who immediately rushed into the church. I pulled the trigger, and the splinter bullet drilled into his temple, tearing apart. The top of his head crumbled in a burst of bone and blood clots, smeared in the snow with a red cerebellum.
That's when Sely twisted her legs into her opponent while his hands pressed to the ground. I felt a surge of magic, a burst of fire erupting from her mouth. It rushed twenty meters into the air and burned everything in its path. As his flesh peeled off his skull, the man screamed and tried to get out of her. She wouldn't let him, her legs tightly wrapped around his waist.
He drew a knife and slashed at her, bleeding. But it won't save him.
Then the mist gushed out of the church. I tried to take another one, but the fog was unnaturally thick. It spread and quickly covered the church. After losing the target, I changed the target to the other two lookouts. One is gone, but the other is running towards the fog. I missed the shot and switched to auto-fire as he approached the magical fog storehouse. I don't care about using my ammunition in moderation because the bullets will shoot around him.
Just as he disappeared into the mist, I hit him in the torso. Sadly, this is unlikely to be a fatal shot.
I eject the empty magazine and replace it with a new one. Everyone but me is in the fog right now, and the damn thing keeps spreading, getting closer and closer. I got up and slid down the rest of the ramp into the fog. With screams, I moved forward, my sight limited to no more than three meters.
A few steps into the fog, I heard the creaking footsteps of someone charging through the snow. A figure came out of nowhere, rushing at me, driving my air away. We walked down, and then Sailly's face was right in front of me. Her soft body lay on top of me, and I noticed that she smelled good.
She opened her mouth and I could see the hellfire burning in her mouth. My hand grabbed her throat and I squeezed, closing her damn spell. Her nails hit my face and I pushed her away from me. Then I grabbed her by the neck and held her down, so that those dangerous lips turned away from me. She squirmed, but I kept her facing the ground.
"Let go of my sister!" Another angry lunged at me, recklessly punching and kicking.
I accept it and feel like the limits of my self-control are being stressed to the limit. They violated my territory. They wreaked havoc, and now they are even attacking me.
Another emerges from the mist, raises his hand, and shoots a blue ball of energy. I grunted as the energy hit my chest and shook me off the woman. The power has been absorbed by my enchantment, but my sanity has gone to hell.
When the newcomer grabbed the girl and tried to pull her up, a red, bloodthirsty haze hung over my vision. I could smell the blood, their blood. When I release all my restraints, my magic surges, and I charge. All my instincts tell me to eliminate all criminals who set foot in my territory.
The man let go of the woman and shot another pulse of blue energy, but I rushed straight over, the red energy shield blocking most of the attacks. Then I was on him, and we wrestled with each other for a while. I stepped forward between his legs, twisted my whole body, and threw him out. He hit the ground and I kicked him in the head. When he was stunned, I punched him in the spine, wrapping my hand in red energy.
My fist neatly ran through and squished his heart. Then I howled triumphantly, turning my attention to the other two, my eyes still red with anger. When the girl tried to pull her up, the woman was still squirming on the ground. Two steps brought me to them, and I dragged the woman up.
Instead of fighting with me, she put her lips on mine and her fingers on my belt. A flash of red gleam flashed in her eyes.
"Stay away from her! She's not yours! ”
The voice of another man reminded me of the fact that there was still killing to be done. I pushed the woman away because she had obviously lost it. Once an old person is replaced by their instincts, there is nothing left to do until it is complete. Then I rushed to the place where the sound came from, and my eyes were red.
My reason didn't come back until a long, long time later. The red color disappeared from my field of vision, and I somehow remember that I had lost it. The other old men also went berserk and fought with me. My body is burning, which is why I don't like to lose control. I've only happened once before, so I'm proud of my control. The sound of flesh thumping brought me back to reality, and I realized that the girl was calling out to me. She hid behind a tombstone around the church.
“…… You know me? Hello? ”
I blinked. "What?"
"Oh, that's good. You're back. Now leave my sister! I think you two had a great time. ”
I pushed the girl away, feeling a little violated. A good punch in her neck brought her back to her senses, and she screamed in anger and crawled away from me.
Carinthia***
Sailly***
What's going on? I've never lost it like that. Once! Am I really prostate like someone who is in heat in front of that guy? I don't even know him. Why is my sister hiding behind that tombstone?
"You two come with me." His eyes were red, and he stood up, trying to pull up his pants. His face is a mask of rage.
So he's also the old one. That's when I remembered. How he attacked my brother while I found it hot! And how he pushed me down...... No! It's not that I care about a few lost brothers. I hate them anyway. It's still over and we can't go with him so he can send us back to our tribe.
"Stun, Annie!" I called. Anne reacted without question, casting an astonishing spell on the old days.
His pants were still half-hanging, and he screamed in rage, stumbling away from Aniya's flash. I kicked it out and hit him in the ankle and he fell into the snowdrift. I call it poetic justice. Without hesitation, I cast a spell that turned the snow into ice and sealed him inside. My sister's fog technique was still working, and I took her hand and we ran into the white nothingness. Behind us, the old man roared, and I heard the sound of ice cracking.
"I think he's crazy!" Anya gasped and breathed irregularly.
We went into the forest, through the woods. "Didn't he get angry before?"
"You don't remember anything!? He tore them apart! Then she started running faster and pulled away from me. It's as if the devil is right behind us.
When a tree falls and overwhelms somewhere behind us, I trust her. I put everything I had in my lap and caught up with Anne and carried her on my shoulders. Then I use every bit of magic and channel it through my legs.
