Chapter 7: The End of Dursley (1)
Harry's life has been terrible lately. A lot has changed in Dudley's life since he messed things up on his birthday.
Every time I go out on the street with Aunt Penny, it always feels like the strangers on the street know him, and they are all very strange. Once, when he went shopping with Aunt Petunia and Dudley, a small man in a violet top hat bowed to him.
Aunt Petunia angrily asks Harry if she knows the man, and then goes back without buying anything.
Another time was on the bus, where an old woman dressed in green waved to him with a smile. Another time, a bald man in a purple floor-length robe ran up to him on the street to shake his hand, and then walked away without saying a word.
Most incredibly, when Harry tried to take a closer look at them, the men disappeared without a trace.
"These guys are as strange as Ivey, they must know some secrets and don't want to tell them"
Harry thought
At this moment, he was facing a large iron bucket, and the unpleasant smell of the iron bucket was emanating from the iron bucket, and the gray-black water in the bucket was soaked in something like a rag, which was his school uniform.
Harry would go to Stonewall, and the Dursleys couldn't afford to spend money on a new one, so they re-dyed Dudley's old uniform.
"I'll dye Dudley's old clothes for you, and when I'm done, they'll look exactly like everyone else." Aunt Petunia said to Harry
Although Harry was very skeptical, he felt it best not to argue with her. At this time, there was a "click" in the mailbox outside, and some letters fell on the mat at the gate.
"Dudley is going to get the letter," Vernon said
"Why don't you let Harry get it!" Dudley didn't want to move
"Harry, go get the letter," Vernon added
"Dudley go get it!" Harry, of course, didn't want to be wronged
"Harry, get it!" "Dudley go get it!" ——
The two of them were arguing
It wasn't until Dudley picked up his cane and was about to fight that Harry ran to get the letter.
There were three emails: a postcard from Aunt Maggie, Aunt Maggie, the sister of Uncle Vernon, who was now on vacation on the Isle of Wight; The other is a brown envelope that looks like a bill.
Harry picked up the last letter, the address on which it read: Received by Mr. Harry Potter in the cupboard under the stairs at 4 Privet Road, Little Whinging, Surrey.
The envelope was made of heavy parchment, and the address was written in emerald green ink, without stamps.
Confused, Harry flipped the envelope over to reveal a wax seal and a shield coat of arms, surrounded by a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.
Maybe it was too long, and the uncle-in-law in the kitchen urged him impatiently.
Harry walked back to the kitchen, keeping his eyes fixed on his letter. He handed the bill and postcard to Uncle Vernon, then sat down, ready to open his yellow envelope.
Dudley kept an eye on Harry, staring at the envelope with a playful smile on his lips, ready to have some fun.
He got up and reached out to snatch the envelope and shouted at Vernon
"Look! There's Harry's Seal! ”
"Hey! That's for me" Harry stood up, trying to snatch the envelope back. But Dudley immediately ran to Vernon and smiled smugly at him.
"Who's going to write to you, that Ivey? Hum! Uncle Vernon also scoffed
"You're just a freak, no one wants to associate with you, how can anyone write to you." Aunt Petunia walked over and picked up the envelope and attached it.
The Dursleys often talked about him in Harry's face as if Harry wasn't there.
She opened the envelope and looked at it, only to see the first line, as if she was about to faint. She grabbed her throat and choked, as if she was about to breathe
"De-De-De-Dursley~"
Uncle Vernon snatched the envelope and glanced at it, his face turning from red to blue, and then slowly to gray.
The two looked at each other and were speechless. The scene was eerily quiet, but Dudley was clearly not used to being left out in the cold.
"I want to see it! Show me the letter! He shouted
"I want to see it!" Harry was furious, "That was meant to be for me!" ”
"Get out!" Uncle Vernon yelled. He grabbed Harry and Dudley by the neck, threw them both down the hallway, and slammed the kitchen door shut.
"Vernon, look at the address on this, how do they know where he lives? It can't be that you're watching us all the time," Petunia's voice trembled
"Surveillance? Maybe they even stalked us! I'll just say that I always see some strange people! Vernon said indignantly
The two of them walked around the kitchen as if they were thinking about what to do
"But what do we do? Do you want to write them back? ”
"No, we don't have to pay attention to it!"
"But ————"
"Penny, I'm never going to let any of them into this house, and we've sworn to put an end to this sensational absurdity!"
Then, the kitchen door was opened
"What about my letter!"
"I want to see that letter!"
Harry and Dudley shouted like Vernon together
"I've burned the letter, and the address on it is wrong"
"That's right! It says I live in a cupboard! ”
"Shut up!" Vernon roared. He looked angry and struggled to take a few deep breaths before he could barely squeeze out a smile.
"Speaking of this cupboard, your aunt and I have taken into account that you have grown up, and this place is indeed a little smaller. We thought it would be better for you to move to another bedroom in Dudley" Perhaps fearing that he might be watched, Aunt Vernon decided to be slightly nicer to Harry.
"Why?" Harry said.
"No questions! Move all your stuff upstairs, right away! ”
At night, Harry sat on the bed
"I should have opened that letter directly"
Harry sighed and lay on the bed stretching out.
If it had been yesterday, if he had been asked to move in, he would have done whatever it took to do so. But today, he'd rather take the letter back to his cupboard, perhaps with a secret that Ivy wouldn't want to tell him.
The next day, several more of the same letters were received. Another dispute.
Then the third day, the fourth day, and then ...... Every day, a large number of letters are delivered here. Outside their house were already full of owls of all kinds, and even the eggs Penny bought were open in envelopes.
No matter what method the Dursleys used, even the whole house was sealed with wooden planks.
"It's over!" Vernon tried to stay calm
"I can't stay in this place anymore, just pack up and leave here. Dudley! Give you 5 minutes to clean up your! He commanded, tugging at his beard
Ten minutes later, they struggled to break open the plank-nailed gate, rushed out the door, got into a car and sped off the road.
In the car, half of the beard on his face was pulled off by him, and he looked terrible, and no one dared to contradict him. He drove forward so hard that even Aunt Penny didn't dare to ask where they were going.
"Get rid of them~ Get rid of them" Vernon was a little nervous, and his mouth was always babbling.
"Is Daddy crazy?" Even Dudley asked Aunt Penny listlessly
"It's Monday, and there's 'The Great Humberto' going on in the evening, and I really want to stay somewhere there's a TV to watch."
Listening to Dudley's words, Harry was a little stunned.
"Tomorrow is Tuesday"
Tuesday was Harry's eleventh birthday. Of course, his birthday was never a bit of a thing. Last year, Mr. and Mrs. Dursley gave him a coat hook to hang his shirt on and an old pair of socks from Uncle Vernon.
But this year was different, and he remembered Ivey's promise. He would give himself gifts and tell himself secrets he wanted to know...... If only he knew where he was
