Despite his confidence and a resounding 10km ahead, Wang underestimated the challenges of the next half marathon.

The first challenge came from the weather.

At the beginning of the race, although there was sunshine, the overall temperature was good. But after ten kilometers, the sun is completely out, the weather is even hotter, and the temperature rises sharply. Especially when there are no large buildings or trees around the track, it is even more painful to run.

Under the influence of such high temperature, high humidity, low air pressure, and sun exposure, many people were affected by the high temperature on the game and began to fall behind halfway.

Wang Youjie is naturally no exception.

When the body also appeared to be tired, Wang Youjie's running state began to show some small changes. One is that the speed begins to decline; The second is because of a lot of sweating, so you must enter the water station and drinking water station along the road.

So much so that by the time of the final stage, although the stomach was already filled with water at this time, and the water in the stomach was shaking with every step of running, the mouth was still very thirsty.

However, fortunately, with Buli by his side to supervise from time to time, Wang Youjie still has a little moderation in drinking water, so as not to affect his running performance too much.

The second challenge comes from several uphill climbs similar to the Yaolong Road Bridge.

The slopes of these bridges are not small, and Wang Youjie did not train to climb before the race, so inadvertently, these uphill slopes immediately gave Wang Youjie, who participated in the competition for the first time, a lot of dismounts.

Anyone who has run a marathon knows that there are usually small ramps in the course.

However, marathons are long-distance running events, and the body will gradually become "lazy" during normal training, thereby reducing energy expenditure and running more efficiently. But this climb on the road is not lazy, and enough energy must be expended to lift the weight to a height of several meters.

The cost of this process is quite enormous.

Compared with most marathon tracks, a climb of about 10 meters is already a big climb, and Longyao Road Bridge and other things can definitely be said to be super difficult.

And what's worse is that these bridges have to go back and forth. Therefore, especially on the return trip, many runners will feel a heartbreak and suffer from the accumulation of lactic acid, and they are really exhausted.

Wang Youjie also made a special observation on the return trip and found that more than 90% of the runners could no longer run, and basically walked on the uphill section of these bridges.

Fortunately, Buli has a wealth of practical experience.

The technique she demonstrates is that if the track is a small slope, then don't lose speed significantly uphill, try to maintain the previous speed and rush up, and then take a deep breath at the top of the slope to adjust. There is no need to rush quickly when going downhill, maintain the previous rhythm, use the downhill to save energy, and slowly adjust yourself to the state before the uphill.

She further explained that the most taboo is to stop and walk uphill or reduce speed significantly, wasting precious time, and rushing downhill to catch up with time, disrupting the running rhythm.

Specific to novices like Wang Youjie, her suggestion is to go uphill in small steps with a dense cadence, and after adaptation, you can increase the stride length, but not too many steps. Then when you run, shift your center of gravity slightly forward, land on the forefoot, use more calf strength, and raise your knees a little higher. When going downhill, don't rush forward quickly, because it is easy to lose your center of gravity, and the whole ball of your foot will hit the ground to reduce the impact on the knee joint.

But despite this, at the last long and steep bridge slope, Wang Youjie's physical strength seemed to have reached its limit.

The brain is very clear, but the legs and feet are no longer obedient, and they can't walk faster if they want to. He had no choice but to walk slowly at a pace equivalent to a walk.

------

Overall, after running the first 10 kilometers, although Wang Youjie felt a little tired, he was basically able to maintain a good physical condition at this time.

…… By the 15th kilometer, Wang Youjie began to tell himself that he seemed to see the light of day, and he even thought that this half-marathon might be able to create a miracle.

But at this time, Wang Youjie's physical strength was obviously exhausted, and his legs began to ache. Especially the soles of his feet, the faint pain does not subside no matter where he focuses his attention.

So much so that at this time, Wang Youjie was a little lax, and subconsciously began to run for a while, and then walked a short distance and became lazy.

Of course, Bu Li is also paying attention to Wang Youjie's current state at all times. Because everyone was running, many of them were already running faster than them.

As a last resort, after taking a short break in the middle, Wang Youjie once again cheered up and continued to run.

Breeze was beside him, holding up a hand and smiling and making a "V" gesture to him.

If you look at the front, there are a lot of people, and if you look back, there are also a lot of people in the back.

Wang Youjie no longer allowed himself to run while walking, and wanted to increase his speed a little more.

However, the leg has begun to be less obedient, the soles of the feet hurt even more, the three toes in the middle of the right foot are even more painful, and the thumb of the left foot seems to have been numb.

How long can it last? Wang Youjie began to ask himself over and over again.

Apparently he didn't have an answer either. Wang Youjie thought to himself, no matter what he does, just keep running, run as far as he can, but he must persevere.

Then 16 km, 17 km, 18 km.

Only the last 3 kilometers left.

There seems to be something fluttering underneath. Although some citizens were still enthusiastically cheering for the runners, Wang Youjie tried hard many times and failed to run out of his rhythm.

Fortunately, at this time, in fact, Wang Youjie was already very sure that he could finish this half-marathon, and it seemed that as long as he persevered a little longer, he could do it.

Looking at the back of Bu Li in front of him, who was obviously waiting and encouraging him, he began to jump up in his heart and kept cheering himself up: Come on, come on...... There are still 3 kilometers to go, and I must run no matter what.

19 km, 20 km.

My hands were starting to sore back and forth, and my arms and legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead water---。 In fact, in the last few kilometers, Wang Youjie ran almost unconsciously.

But Wang Youjie gritted his teeth and asked himself not to relax: I will run by myself, run at my own speed, and no one will compare, just compare with myself.

21 km, the final moments of this half-marathon.

Because you can see that the finish line is near, all the runners, whether they were walking or trotting, start to pick up speed.

Enter the final sprint.

With the front foot on the back heel, Wang Youjie followed Bu Li and finally stumbled across the finish line.
