Chapter Ninety-Nine
I tried my best to hold back my anger and pulled the keys out of my bag.
"I've made chicken soup, can I come in and try it?" The uncle looked at me at a loss, obviously sensing my displeasure.
I shook my head, then turned the lock on the door with all my might.
"My father-in-law taught me to do it, make sure it ......tastes good," the more the uncle said, the more he became more and more confident, as if he had done something wrong.
Seeing that my uncle was so embarrassed, I decided to put away my dissatisfaction with Jing Yehang for the time being, so as not to make things more stiff. So, I locked the door again and silently followed my uncle into Jingye Hang's house.
"I'm going to serve the soup." As soon as the words fell, Jing Yehang disappeared.
"Sit casually, you're welcome." After I said a few polite words, my uncle hurried into the kitchen. "Ah Hang, be careful not to burn!"
I looked around quietly and was surprised to find that the walls of the room were still white. The sky blue of the curtains and the Prussian blue of the leather sofas are reminiscent of the sky and the sea, and the off-white furniture gives it a refreshing and bright feeling.
"Yin Ran, come here." Uncle greeted him courteously.
"Uncle, how long have we all graduated, why haven't you changed your name?" Jing Yehang muttered softly.
"What else should I call it......" the uncle asked blankly.
"It doesn't matter......" Anyway, there are not many opportunities to meet in the future. I smiled politely and thought to myself. The moment I learned that Jing Yehang lived next door to me, the idea of moving came to my heart. Not only does he work in the same place as me, but he is also my boss, and it would be unrealistic to ignore his presence during working hours. It seems that the only way to really get away from him is after work......
"Drink it while it's hot......"
Under my uncle's expectant gaze, I put a spoonful of hot soup into my mouth. To my surprise, the chicken broth was rich but not greasy, and it was delicious. "It's delicious......" I complimented sincerely.
"Although my cooking skills are good, there is still a gap between me and my father-in-law, who used to be a chef in a star-rated hotel...... Haha...... "Uncle triumphantly told me about his experiences over the years. It turned out that a few years ago, in order to pursue his sister-in-law, the uncle converted the Internet café on the first floor into a restaurant, and invited a retired father-in-law to take charge of the kitchen. Originally, he was just a cook, but he was exposed to it every day, and his cooking skills have improved a lot over time.
When I heard that my uncle's life was so happy, I was sincerely happy for him. After drinking the soup, my uncle and I chatted for a while. While Jing Yehang was washing dishes in the kitchen, I whispered goodbye to my uncle.
"Eat some fruit and then go, I just saw strawberries in the refrigerator, I'll wash them for you!" The uncle hurriedly said something to save him.
"You're welcome, I can't eat ......"
"Ah Hang, go and bring out the strawberries...... Uh, it's not too early, so I won't accompany you, or I'll be scolded again......" After speaking, the uncle glanced at me, and then walked away.
"I'm going back...... I didn't hear it, and walked straight to the gate.
"Take the strawberries back and eat them, I bought them for you......" Jing Yehang walked up to me quickly and stuffed a box of strawberries into my hand.
I looked at Jing Yehang in confusion, completely unable to guess his thoughts. It was strange that he had deliberately not let me know who he was, and now he put on a friendly posture. "Is it because of my troubled conscience?" I sarcastically said unhappily.
"So you really didn't recognize me?" Jing Yehang smiled meaningfully.
"How do you think I can recognize you?" As far as I can remember, half of his face was obscured by his unkempt hair and huge black-rimmed glasses, so that I never saw what he really looked like.
"When I went to college, I cut my hair short. It was my negligence that I forgot how sloppy I used to be......"
"Is it because of the school rules?" I asked casually.
Jing Yehang smiled indifferently, and then said: "I thought you deliberately pretended not to know me, it seems that I was too worried......
If I had a choice, I would have liked we could pretend we didn't know each other. I replied to myself.
"I just haven't figured out what to say to you, and I didn't intend to hide it from you......" Jing Yehang explained in a sincere tone.
"As you said, we've all graduated for so long that our classmates are long gone. If you really don't have anything to talk about, don't force it. I pretended to be an understatement.
Jing Yehang looked at me stunned, and his expression seemed to be a little sad. "I've never heard you mention that you're going to major in fine arts, so I was a little surprised when I heard that you were working as an art editor at a publishing house."
Recalling the desperate days before the college entrance examination, the anger in my heart ignited again. "You probably don't know that not everyone can choose their own life as much as you want, for example, if you want to drop out, you can drop out, and if you want to study abroad, you can study abroad!"
Hearing this, Jing Yehang lowered his head and pursed his lips silently. For a while, the atmosphere became very solemn. After being silent for a while, Jing Yehang smiled and said, "It's not early, let's go back and rest...... Good night ......".
Before going out, I vaguely saw a faint sadness in Jing Yehang's eyes. I felt inexplicably uncomfortable, and I couldn't stop crying as soon as I got home.
