Volume 1 The Philosopher's Stone Chapter 63 Shirley

Martin looked towards the source of the sound and saw a red-haired figure hurtling down the spiral staircase.

The figure flashed past Martin like a wind, and pounced on Lady Lucia beside Martin, who was half a head taller than Lady Lucia, but snuggled up to the old man like a bird.

Her long hair was disheveled, no longer wearing the same black robe that Martin had worn the last time he saw her, nor the oil paint mask on her face.

It was only then that Martin could see what the girl looked like and what she was wearing.

She had a deep, fair-skinned appearance, a pair of slender lips under the high bridge of her nose, and a close-fitting black shirt that was not fully buttoned, revealing a fair patch of her chest.

She snuggled up to the old woman and hugged her tightly, and from Martin's point of view, her chest squeezed out two astonishing arcs, looming in the light of the fire.

In place of the black robe was a black trench coat with a short rain cloak draped over the shoulders, and the gloves on her arms that had been the same as the black robe had disappeared into a pair of leather gloves with metal arm guards.

Her lower body is padded canvas pants and boots, which perfectly outline her slender thighs, making her look straight and slender.

Lady Lucia had a look of anger and reproach on her face when she first saw the girl, but these feelings soon disappeared under the girl's onslaught, and were replaced by tenderness and love.

"I've been walking for so long, and I don't know how to write a letter to my family."

Lady Lucia patted the girl on the back and said softly.

The girl gently shook her body and rubbed the old man's cheek to express her thoughts.

"Alright, come and meet Mr. [Prophet]."

Lucia quickly collected her emotions and said to the girl.

Shirley looked up, only to notice Martin standing next to her.

Seeing Martin's clothes, she immediately frowned.

"Who is he? How can there be an [actor's face]? ”

"Grandma, he's a thief! My [Actor's Face] and the [Coward's Coat] you gave me have been working lately! They become so strange, like they come to life! ”

"They must have been replaced by this man!"

Shirley stared at Martin, insisting that Martin had stolen her things.

"Oh? When did you notice that the mask and coat came to life? ”

Before Martin could explain, Lady Lucia asked Shirley in a playful tone.

"Since I've completed one bounty mission at a time."

Shirley didn't realize that Lucia's tone was wrong, and still stared at Martin in reply.

"Let me guess, was it the one you went to hunt the [Dark Alchemy Society] alone and was almost killed?"

Lady Lucia's tone was mellow, but there was a hint of reproach in her words.

"Yes..."

Shirley was about to answer subconsciously, but she reacted immediately, looked back at Lucia in surprise, and said:

"How do you know?"

"Not only do I know that, but I also know that if someone hadn't helped you, you'd have died there."

Lady Lucia's anger grew palpable.

"No, I still have the self-defense doll you gave me..."

Shirley protested, but her voice grew quieter.

"In the state in which she was wrapped at the time, I am afraid that there will be no chance to come up with her so-called doll."

Martin thought to himself.

"Ugh..."

Lucia sighed.

"Your father disappeared during a solo expedition to ancient ruins, and I don't want you to be like him."

"Blessed by the Queen, Mr. Martin was there at the time and saved your life."

"He saved me?"

Shirley was surprised that the man who stole her belongings saved his life?

She didn't believe it.

"No way, it was just me and that Johnny at the time, I surveyed in advance, and no one else could be there at that time."

"Moreover, it was obviously the bracelet that Alain gave me who saved me!"

Shirley shouted emotionally, and Martin noticed the wooden bracelet made of plant rhizomes on her right wrist.

Hearing the name "Alain", Lady Lucia looked angry.

Instead of blaming and anger at her granddaughter, her face at this time was pure anger, Alain was Shirley's governess, and it was she who instigated Shirley to flee the family.

Faced with her questioning, Martin didn't explain anything, but stretched out his left hand and snapped his fingers.

"Smack."

A cluster of green flames appeared on his fingertips. It emits an ethereal glow.

Seeing the green flame that suddenly appeared on the man's fingertips, Shirley's expression became dull.

She vividly remembered that when she was caught in the tongue sticking out of Johnny's abdomen, a cluster of green flames flew into Johnny's body, and then a disgusting scene that seemed to engulf herself.

Thinking of that scene now, the cold hairs on Shirley's back still stand up, and she feels a burst of fear.

At the time, she believed that Green Flame was a bracelet given to her by her tutor Alain, and asked Alain afterwards and received an affirmative answer.

She is also very grateful to Alain for this, and thinks that it is the right choice to run away from the family with her.

But Shirley now recognized that the green flame in front of her had the same strange cold aura as it did then.

It's him? Not Alain?

But why did Alain lie to me?

Her heart was filled with doubts, and anger slowly crept in, taking over her brain.

Because of someone, she hates the deception of others the most.

"Why didn't you show up then?"

She looked at the man in front of her who was wearing her [actor's face] and her [coward's coat], and took some of her anger out on this man.

"Are you afraid to meet people? Aren't you ashamed to appear on the street wearing someone else's mask and someone else's coat like this? Aren't you afraid of being discovered by your owner? ”

The more she talked, the more excited she became, and she didn't know what was wrong with her.

"Alright."

Shirley was about to continue, but Lady Lucia interrupted her.

"That Alain is very problematic, and after you left, I tried to find Old Dirk, who was also a member of the Brotherhood, but I couldn't find him."

"It's like the man has disappeared out of thin air."

"That's why I asked Robert to find you secretly around the Shepherds' Club."

As if thinking of something, Lady Lucia sighed and said:

"Because of that Dick's relationship, you trust her so much that you don't notice a lot of small things."

Hearing the name "Dick", Shirley stopped sneering, and her eyes darkened, as if she had lost some support.

"Where are your masks and robes?"

Just when the situation was at a low point, Martin asked.

During the time he held the Green Flame, he felt a strange tremor in the flames.

The tremor was related to the mask on his face and the robes on his body.

He had some hunch, so he asked Shirley to take out the two "copied" bodies as well.

Shirley didn't argue anything, she wiped her right hand, and a neatly stacked robe appeared in her hand, on which was a somewhat tattered oil paint mask.

The nose on the mask was already very disproportionately protruding, and the expression had become very strange, as if it was mocking something.

As she pulled out the two items, Martin felt the green flame on his fingertips tremble even more, and as soon as he thought about it, the green flame broke away from his fingers and headed towards Shirley's palm.

Unlike the previous very weak floating, this time Martin just flung it lightly, and the green flame flew away as if it was attracted.

Shirley was taken aback by the approaching Green Flame, who had been so impressed by Johnny's fate that she threw her robe and mask to the ground with a flick of her right hand, and the man quickly jumped back and away.

The Green Flame's target was the robe and mask, and it quickly flew close and sank into the robe.

Immediately afterward, the robes and masks on the ground began to burn with green flames, which grew larger and larger, and in the blink of an eye, the robes and masks were burned to ashes.

After that, Martin felt the mask on his face and the robe on his body change somewhat, the robe leaning closer to his skin, and the mask began to squirm, like a slippery tentacle with a suction cup caressing his cheek.

"Could this be the legendary Twin Flames..."

Seeing the Green Flame engulf the Actor's Face and the Coward's Coat, Lady Lucia knew that the Flame she was looking for couldn't do it easily, and combined with the visible changes on Martin's body, she thought of a rumored item.

Or a genesis card.

Martin was noncommittal, and the conjecture in his mind was verified, which also came from the hint that the twin flames acted directly on his spiritual world:

The split brought by the Red Flame can be restored by the Green Flame!

As the two black-and-white cookbooks argue, burn one and the rest will become the original.

But this is conditional, after the burning of the green flame, the two sides of the split will be restored to their original appearance, which is equivalent to "reversing" the split process.

And if only one of them is physically destroyed, then the vanished part will be returned to the remaining party in a strange way, realizing the unity in the "activated" state.

Martin felt the changes on his body and cheeks, and he could clearly feel that [Actor's Face] and [Coward's Coat] were much more active and powerful than before, and had new magical abilities.

Or rather, their magical abilities are finally complete.

Martin thought for a moment, and took off the [Actor's Face] under the shocked gaze of Shirley and Lady Lucia, revealing his true face under the mask.

And Shirley and Lady Lucia, after seeing Martin's appearance clearly, their shocked expressions widened again, to the point of exaggeration.

"The Prophet... Capernaum? ”

Shirley muttered to herself.

She had been in Cavides for some time, and naturally she had seen the statue of the Prophet in the Place of the Roses, and knew about the legend of the Prophet and "Capernaum".

And Lady Lucia, who had always been calm, the silver-haired old man who had been talking and laughing with Martin before, couldn't help blushing a little at this time, and lowered her head in some shame.
