Volume 1 The Philosopher's Stone Chapter 62 The Secret Garden
"Is it missing..."
Martin sighed.
"And what you said the Queen instructed you to come to me..."
Martin's mind swirled, and he had some questions.
"That was the Queen's account before she left."
Lady Lucia sighed with emotion.
"She has said that if she does not return, then we must find this prophet, and he will lead the search for the thirteen [secret gardens] she left behind, usher in the return of the [Lava Heart], and even find her."
"Or her corpse."
Lucia was a little sad to say this, and although she didn't want to believe it, the queen had disappeared for so many years, and it was likely that something had happened to her.
"The Secret Garden?"
Martin heard a new title, and he was a little curious.
"Yes. Before the arrival of the Heavenly Fire, the queen put most of the mechanical artifacts and treasures in Atlantis into thirteen secret 'gardens', in order to re-establish the Lava Heart in the future. โ
"No one knows where the thirteen gardens are, and the only clue is the Queen's Prophet."
"That's you."
Lucia came back to her senses and looked into Martin's eyes and said.
"One of those gardens is located on the site of the former Atlantis, which is now Cavides."
"Other than that, we only know that this garden was built in the likeness of the [City of Calamity] in the story."
"The six huge rooms of different colors, the last refuge of the city lordโthe mysterious space carved with eight angels, and..."
Lucia fell into imagination again.
"The huge statue of the Flower of Black Death on the throne."
Statue?!
Is this different from my story?
The more Martin listened, the more wrong he became, in the [City of Calamity] he described, there were obviously only four side halls in the castle hall, and there were also four angels carved in the stone behind the throne.
It may be the relationship of obsessive-compulsive disorder, Martin corresponds to the number of angels, and the color of the gems in the angels' hands also corresponds to the color of the hall.
So Martin remembers it well.
Most importantly, above the throne was the huge brass bell, which was not a statue at all!
Is Lucia misremembering? Or is it the distortion of information caused by word of mouth over a long period of time.
However, the giant bell is a sign that the masquerade is gradually getting out of control, and it is the main factor driving the second half of the story, and there may be a deviation between the number of angels in the side hall and the giant bell, but the disappearance of the giant bell makes Martin suddenly vigilant.
What if this Lady Lucia is a fake?
Martin's brain was still spinning.
The queen did let me go to the bottom of the cathedral, but after such a long time, the information she passed down was inevitably leaked, and if it was someone with ulterior motives, she came here to wait for me...
Martin casually glanced out the window, the bustling street scene just now had completely changed, the carriage did not know that it had come to that area, there were not many pedestrians on the street, and even the shops along the street were closed a lot, and it was gradually desolate to the naked eye.
"Is the temptation of [Actor's Face] and the description of Shirley just now to divert my attention and lower my defenses..."
Martin thought further.
The idea of the source of [Actor's Face] really made Martin not think about anything else, coupled with the blessing of the plot of "Sour Grandma Looking for a Rebellious Granddaughter", Martin did not doubt Lucia at all.
Martin was still leaning against the velvet backrest of the carriage, his left thumb and middle finger hidden in the cuff pinched, ready to snap his fingers.
If the situation is not right, he immediately snaps his fingers and throws the green flame, and then jumps out of the window to escape.
At such a close distance, Green Flame could easily hit the target.
He casually asked:
"I should have only told the queen about these descriptions of the City of Calamity, did you get these details from her?"
"Indeed."
Lucia turned her head to look Martin in the eye.
"Is there something wrong?"
Martin also looked at the old woman in front of him and said:
"In my story, the number of side halls is four instead of six, and the number of angels on the frescoes is also four, not eight."
"That's probably my mistake."
The old woman replied casually.
"It's easy to have a bad memory when you're old."
"Have you really heard the story?"
Martin stared at Lucia's face.
"If you've ever heard it, you know that the throne above... It's not a statue at all! โ
"Smack."
Martin snapped his fingers, and a green flame appeared on the tip of his left finger like a small snake, licking his finger and palm.
"Who the hell are you?"
Martin controlled the Green Flame, and he could throw it at the old woman in front of him at any moment, and asked in a deep voice.
Looking at the green fireworks that suddenly ignited in front of her, Lucia didn't show a nervous look or do anything to respond, she showed a smile instead:
"Above the throne is a huge brass bell engraved with the Flower of the Black Death, right?"
Martin looked surprised.
"The City of Calamity is a secret garden that holds the treasures of Atlantis, and the queen certainly won't reveal them to others easily."
"In fact, the queen did not leave any paper documents for the story of [City of Calamity], and even the information in it was told to different guardians, just to prevent someone from taking the lead at this time."
Lucia's eyes became calm again, she exhaled a breath, and said softly:
"We've been waiting for you for years, Mr. Martin."
"For so long that we ourselves began to wonder if there really was such a prophet, or if it was all a fabrication by the Queen."
As Lady Lucia had finished speaking, Martin noticed that around the carriage in which they were riding, the sound of wheels that did not belong to the carriage sounded, and the sound became louder and louder.
Martin looked out the window and saw black carriages outlined out of thin air around the carriage that had been traveling alone, as if a hidden curtain had been lifted.
The carriages were in the same style as Lucia's, and the drivers in the carriages were looking at him curiously.
"Reacquaint, Mr. Martin."
Lady Lucia held out her right hand to him.
"Lucia, the [Blue Bird] mechanic of the [Wrench Brotherhood], and the current head of the [Black Cat Trail]."
Martin held out his hand and shook it.
He only now figured out that this old woman was testing herself just now?
If you don't say anything strange in the City of Calamity, then there must be something wrong with your identity, and what awaits you is probably not the curious and expectant eyes that you are looking at now.
At that time, no matter what you have to rely on, these hidden people around you can catch you casually.
"I'm still too young..."
Martin sighed.
He thought that he had caught some clues, but he didn't expect that these flaws were deliberately sold by the other party.
Lucia was so shrewd that she saw that Martin was a little at a loss, and said with a little apology:
"The stakes are high, and we've been waiting too long, so we have to be cautious, please understand."
Martin raised his head, shook his head slightly, and replied:
"Understandable."
The carriage continued for a short moment, then stopped.
Martin followed Lucia out of the car, and found the carriage parked in an alley, where Lucia was standing at the door of a wooden door, waiting for him to enter.
He followed Lucia through the door and made his way down a spiral staircase to a large hall.
In the middle of the hall was a huge boiler, steaming outward, and some strong, simply dressed men were banging on hot irons beside the boiler.
Martin looked at the explosive muscles on these men's bodies, and felt that those bodybuilders in his previous life were simply weak chickens compared to them.
"This is one of the [Wrench Brotherhood] strongholds in Kavides, in the basement of the [Black Cat Trail]."
Mrs. Lucia introduced.
Hearing the name [Black Cat Trail], Martin had a trace of doubt in his heart.
This doubt was vague when they boarded the bus from Rose Square, but Martin didn't face it.
"You dug through the ground of the [Black Cat Path]?"
"But isn't the [Black Cat Trail] supposed to be near Rose Square, where the 'Reindeer Market' is held?"
"Our carriage has been traveling for so long, it should be getting farther and farther away from the square."
It's a bit of a miracle that the Place de la Rosary is home to Capernaum's Cathedral, which is the focus of the church and the town hall.
"That's true."
Lucia nodded.
"There are two reasons for this."
"The first is to avoid the surveillance of the church and the town hall. They brought us here under the name of the 'Reindeer Bazaar' to get a way to open the Queen's secret garden. โ
"Not long ago, they didn't know where they got the news and found the remains of a garden, and we can't be sure if the ruins are really a 'garden', but some members of the Brotherhood have reported that they are being watched."
"The second is that for the sake of insurance, you can't get here from the shops of the [Black Cat Trail], but you can enter the shops from here."
"The path to connect is one-way, after all, [the Black Cat Trail] is right next to Capernaum's Cathedral."
"That's why we have to be here."
Lucia revealed a lot of information in one go.
Martin thought it was a strange arrangement, but he couldn't give any advice.
"These people... It's too simple and straightforward..."
He gave this assessment.
Then Martin asked about the carriages that had just appeared out of nowhere.
Speaking of the carriages, Lucia smiled:
"The carriages were influenced by the [Cloak of Play]."
"As the Viscount Hubert said in the basement of the cathedral, among the creations left by the queen is a magical cloak that can make people or things invisible."
"This cloak is currently in the hands of the [Brotherhood of Wrench]."
Martin was a little dumbfounded after hearing this, he didn't expect that the magical item that the viscount had in his heart was in the hands of the old man opposite him, and he didn't know how he would react after knowing the truth.
In addition, this Mrs. Lucia's acting skills are really good!
Just as Mrs. Lucia wanted to introduce Martin further, a girl's voice suddenly came from the entrance of the spiral staircase:
"Grandma!"
