Chapter 10: Before the Chamber
"Ralph, you're a good fit to be a professor."
"Really?"
"Look, haven't we all learned?"
"That's it." Looking at their staggering appearance, Ralph said that if his students were like this, he would probably be angry, knowing that he had already used [Sound into the Heart] to increase their learning.
Ralph glanced out the window, it was already dark.
Under the deep purple sky, there is a forest of mountains and pines. The fragrance of pine wood came from far and near, wrapping around the tip of Ralph's nose, sniffing it as if it were teasing.
"Kuangji ~ Kuangji ~", the speed of the train began to slow down.
"I guess it's almost there, let's change into our robes first." Ralph reminded.
Everyone took off their coats, changed into close-fitting robes, looked at each other, and couldn't help but feel that the Hogwarts uniforms were really good, needless to say, the quality was needless to say, at least they looked good to wear.
"The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes, please leave your luggage on the train and we'll take you to the school." The sound echoed through the train.
They stood up, and everyone except Ralph was a little nervous.
They stuffed the rest of the snacks back and followed the large army forward.
The train slowed down and finally stopped.
The little wizards pushed and shoved, and rushed to the door of the train to a humble platform.
The cold of the night made Claude shiver, and Roque stepped forward to move closer to him.
Then a lamp flickered above the students' heads, and a gruff voice shouted, "First graders! First-year students are here! β
Looking at the arrival of another class of freshmen, Hagrid's large, hairy face smiled heartily.
"Come on, come with me, are there any new first-year students? Watch out for the soles of your feet, all right! First-year students come with me! β
They followed Hagrid, bumping and stumbling along the way, and it seemed that they were walking downhill along a steep, narrow path.
It was pitch black on both sides of the path, and no one spoke.
There are only a few little wizards who are afraid of the cold, and occasionally snort a sniff or two. Claude is in it.
"Turn this corner, and you'll soon see Hogwarts for the first time." Hagrid shouted back.
A loud and inexplicable voice sounded, startling many timid freshmen.
At the end of the narrow path, a black lake suddenly unfolded.
On the lake, small wooden boats came from the darkness.
"The previous cry should have been calling for these boats." Claude sniffed and continued, "The road just now should be for us to experience the journey before the Big Four established Hogwarts. β
"You know a lot, Claude." Hansen exaggerated.
"In the history of the school, if I'm not mistaken, a small boat should only seat four people. Thank you, Ralph. Claude took Ralph's tissue and wiped his nose.
"You're welcome, why don't you bring tissues with you?" Ralph asked rhetorically.
"Why do you carry tissues with you?" Hansen asked curiously, and Roque and Claude looked over as well.
Ralph's eyes widened as he looked at them, not knowing what to say.
On the high hillside on the other side of the lake rises a majestic castle with spires and windows twinkling under the stars.
"No more than four people per boat!" Hagrid exclaimed, pointing to a group of small boats moored to the shore.
"You guessed it, Claude!" Rock Road.
Ralph: Naturally, they boarded the same boat.
"Are you all on board?" Hagrid shouted, and he was in a boat by himself. "That's good...... Go ahead! β
A group of small boats immediately rowed across the mirror-like lake.
Everyone was silent, staring at the huge castle that reached into the sky.
As they approached the cliff where the castle stood, it seemed to rise above them, suppressing the hearts of the people.
"Keep your head down!" As the first boats approached the cliff, Hagrid shouted.
Everyone bowed their heads, and the boat carried them through the ivy curtain that covered the front of the cliff to the hidden open entrance.
"We don't have to bow our heads." Claude sniffed and looked back at the cliff.
The people around heard it and looked back.
Indeed, with their height, it is impossible for them to touch that protruding rock wall in their lives.
They followed a pitch-black tunnel that seemed to lead to the castle underneath, and finally reached a place that resembled an underground pier, and then climbed up to the ground of gravel and small pebbles.
After that, under the light of Hagrid's lantern, I walked for an unknown amount of time, and finally gathered in front of a huge oak door.
"Are you all there?" Hagrid raised a large fist and slammed it three times the castle gate.
A loud noise echoed in their ears and seemed to spread throughout the castle.
Immediately the door opened. A tall, black-haired woman in an emerald green robe stood in front of the gate.
She looked serious and stared sternly, and no one dared to look at her, and Ralph also glanced at it, and then withdrew his gaze to show respect
"This is a first-year student, Professor McGonagall." Hagrid said with a little deference that Professor McGonagall was always intimidating.
"Thank you, Hagrid. Leave it to me. β
She opened the door wide open.
The foyer was unspeakably large, as tall as five or six hagrids and as wide as six or seven hagrids.
Like an elaborate ancient princely tomb, the stone walls are surrounded by flaming torches, emitting a light that does not match itself.
The ceiling is so high that you can barely see the top.
The façade is a lavish marble staircase that leads upstairs.
They followed Professor McGonagall down the stone floor.
They heard a cacophony of voices coming from the door on the right, presumably from other grades in the school.
But Professor McGonagall led them to a small, empty room at the other end of the hall.
Everyone rushed in, huddled together, nervously and carefully gazing at everything around them.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," Professor McGonagall said.
"The opening party is about to begin, but before you get to the cafeteria and take your seats, first of all, you should decide which house you are going to.
The Sorting House is an important ritual because while you are in school, the House is like your home at Hogwarts.
......
The names of the four houses were: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.
......
I hope that no matter which house you are assigned to, you will be able to bring glory to the college. β
"In a few minutes, the sorting ceremony will be held in front of all the teachers and students of the school. I suggest that you get in order and be refreshed while you wait. β
Professor McGonagall's gaze wandered through the crowd for a moment, and she left.
Suddenly, Ralph startled them with a burst of screams from behind them.
Turning their heads, about 20 ghosts sprang out of the wall behind them.
These pearly white, translucent ghosts glided coldly across the room, as if they were going through the motions.
Only a chubby ghost wants them to join Hufflepuff.
"Now, in a single row," Professor McGonagall said to the first-year freshmen as she returned, "follow me." β
They walked out of the room, through the foyer, and through a double door at the back into the lavish dining room.
Students from the rest of the academy were already seated around four long tables, above which thousands of candles fluttered in the air lit up the cafeteria.
At the top of the cafeteria is a long table with the teachers' seats.
Professor McGonagall brought the first-year students over there and had them line up in front of the entire upper class, with the teachers behind them.
Many of the little wizards looked overhead, and saw a little starlight twinkling on the velvety pitch-black ceiling.
It's a miracle. β
Professor McGonagall gently placed a four-legged stool in front of the first-year freshman, and placed a wizard's hat on the stool.
The hat was patched, worn out, and dirty.
Ralph frowned, then unfolded again.
There was silence in the dining room, and then the hat twisted.
The brim of the hat was cracked with a wide slit, like a mouth. The hat began to sing:
"You may think I'm not pretty,
But don't judge people by their appearance,
If you can find a more beautiful hat than mine,
I can eat myself.
......
Come put me on! Don't be afraid!
Don't panic!
In my hands (even though I don't even have a hand)
You are absolutely safe
Because I'm a thinking hat! β
After the Sorting Hat finished singing, the audience applauded, and the Devil Hat bowed to each of the four tables, and then stood still.
