Chapter 40: Flying Lessons
On the lawn at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, Ralph and Gryffindor arrived at the flying lesson grounds.
On the way, Hansen, along with a few Gryffindors and Ralph on the side, told them about the charm of Quidditch.
They also said that they had a good talent for it, that they had flown across the Atlantic Ocean on a broomstick to reach the United States, or that they had been almost spotted by a Muggle pilot flying an airplane.
Hearing this, William, who was born as a Muggle, was a little disdainful, flying side by side with the plane, it was simply looking for death, but he didn't say it, he liked Quidditch a lot.
When Hansen said he would definitely be on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Willian looked at him with a rival eye.
Hansen himself, on the other hand, was unaware of anything and was still talking there.
Claude and Daniel were a little nervous, Daniel's mother was a wizard, but he had never heard his mother talk about Quidditch, and probably his mother was not good at it.
Needless to say, Claude's parents were ordinary people, and he doubted that he would not have a Quidditch talent.
So, from time to time, he asked Hansen some Quidditch tricks. At first, Hansen was able to answer based on what he had seen and experienced.
By the time he got to the venue, Hansen was already miserable, he was also a beginner, he didn't know everything, how did he know how to do those techniques?
The last to save him was Mrs. Hodge.
Mrs. Hodge instructed everyone to line up in two lines according to the academy, two arm's width apart.
After lining up the line, Mrs. Hooch walked to the open space in the center of the two teams, waved her wand, and distributed the old broomsticks to the students, placing them on their right hand.
These brooms are all Meteor brooms, a low-priced batch of brooms produced by Universal Broom Company in 1955 and have been the cheapest to date.
After distributing the broomsticks, Mrs. Hooch began to teach everyone how to use them. Everyone listened very carefully, after all, this was the main mode of transportation for wizards in England.
The eaglets were eager to take out their pen and paper and start taking notes immediately, even William.
After explaining how to use the broomstick, Lady Hooch began to practice it for everyone to practice one by one, making sure that all wizards could ride the broomstick and hover in the air in the first lesson.
After looking at the two rows of teams, and considering the performance of both houses in Quidditch, she decided to start with the "more talented" Gryffindor.
Give the eaglets more time to study.
The little lions performed well, although there were some mistakes, but with the correction of Mrs. Hodge, they quickly mastered it.
The first few young wizards who flew too high or fell down due to nervousness were all saved by Madame Hodge waving her wand. This made the little wizards behind them more confident and bolder.
It was Hansen's turn and his roommates around him, and he seemed confident.
"Get up!" At the direction of Mrs. Hodge, they shouted at the broomsticks.
The broom obediently bounced off the ground and was held in their hands. With a leg lift, they sat on their brooms.
"Take off." Mrs. Hodge said.
"Bang!"
A loud voice rang out, it was Hansen, he had ascended to heaven.
His roommates around him were all scared.
Mrs. Hodge was also stunned for a moment, then hurriedly reacted, took a broom from Hansen's roommate, sat down neatly, and flew after him.
"Stay here, don't take off!"
Mrs. Huo Qi commanded sharply, and she was also annoyed in her heart, how could she be relaxed by these little lions? You know, every year for freshmen flying lessons, Gryffindor is not without surprises!
Watching Mrs. Hodge leave, everyone looked at each other, and then came to their respective broomsticks and began to practice, as long as they didn't take off.
Only the Gryffindor without a broom, alone with a pestle, didn't know what to do.
"Get up." Ralph barked at the broomstick. The broom obediently jumped into his hand, and Ralph raised his eyebrows in surprise.
Closing his eyes, he reflected on how he had felt.
Claude and Daniel breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Ralph like this, and stopped shouting, they knew that Ralph would teach them.
William on the side, under their envious gaze, like Ralph, succeeded in the first attempt.
He put the broom under him and made a take-off motion, but he didn't really fly, after all, Mrs. Hooch's warning was still there.
After a while, Ralph opened his eyes, and he put the broom back on the ground.
Standing beside the broom, he put his hand on top of the broom, and the broom jumped up consciously and was held by him.
Putting down the broom, palm up, fingers hooked slightly, the broom jumped up, circled, and landed on Ralph's hand.
Continuing to put it down, Ralph put his hand in front of him, opened his palm, and it returned to his palm again, like a pet, very obedient.
Looking at Ralph, who kept picking up the broom in various ways, William was numb, numb again, thinking that he could finally compete with Ralph in this aspect, but he didn't expect to be defeated.
Finally, Ralph stopped. Seeing this, Claude and the others immediately surrounded him, waiting for Ralph's teaching, and William was no exception.
It's actually easy to get the broomstick to jump into your hand, because the broom has a magic similar to the reverse [Flying Charm] effect inside it, and he can sense it whenever you are calling it.
Ralph explained to them, but seeing the little lion's confused expression, Ralph decided to keep it simple.
"Have faith in yourself and believe that the broom will respond to your call, and you will succeed!"
This time, William did not question it, and he gradually became clear about the truth similar to "one true sentence, ten thousand books falsely".
To be honest, William's talent is really enviable, before he still needed to call out the broom to succeed, by the back, he has reached the level of Ralph, playing all kinds of tricks.
Claude and Daniel put down their nervousness and worries, and finally stumbled into it.
Soon, Mrs. Hodge returned, and flew back from a distance with the intact Hansen. It seems that Hansen should have mastered flying.
Looking at the little wizard who was practicing below, Mrs. Huo Qi was very happy.
At the same time, she also noticed Ralph, who sat on his side on the broom, in a daze of boredom, and William, who called for the broom.
Looking at the relatively strong Hansen beside her, she had an idea, although the idea had never been realized, but she and Minerva were persevering.
Mrs. Hodge returned to the field with Hansen, who, like a victorious lion, walked to his place with his head held high. Mrs. Hodge didn't forget to return the broom to the classmate.
Subsequently, the one-to-four teaching continued, and gradually it was Ravenclaw's turn.
