Chapter 34: The Knight's Old Friend

"Tsk, forgot to ask this guy about Wormwalker......"

Wren's footsteps suddenly paused, and a hint of annoyance appeared on his handsome face, but it quickly disappeared.

"Forget it, I guess this guy won't say half a point, so let's wait for the information from Nanzhuo's side."

Wren shook his head and put the matter aside.

He didn't have the slightest regret about killing Blake, the leader of the Red Label Gang.

Destroying evil is the duty of our holy warriors!

At the end of the battle, Wren began to check his gains.

Needless to say, the trophies of war were the three of them who had eaten a fireball technique at close range, and the equipment on their bodies had basically been damaged to the point that they could not be used, and the only glass cane was also split in two by Wren's sword.

Only the experience point is still quite powerful.

Dink and Van Red each gave him 1,600 XP in the two melee fights, while Blake, as the boss, gave him nearly 4,800 XP in one go.

If you convert it, this guy should be a level 8 mage.

It's a pity that no matter how high his mage level is, it's still a crispy profession, and he is close to melee combat without preparation, and the final result is self-evident.

However, so many experience points prove one fact - the head of the Master is very valuable!

Wren decisively consumed his experience points and raised his paladin level to level 5.

"Gain 2 (1 + Intelligence Adjustment) Skill Points and 14 HP (10 + Constitution Adjustment)."

"You've gained a spell-like ability, Holy Oath."

Continuing to add skill points to Focus and Block, Wren began to work on his newly acquired spell-like abilities.

After the Paladin's class level reaches level 5, the Paladin forms a sacred contract with the gods and beliefs he believes in, which is called the Sacred Oath.

The Holy Oath comes in two forms, and once selected, it cannot be changed.

The first type of oath is the oath that the paladin made with weapons.

Paladins can summon celestial spirits to attach to weapons, adding additional abilities to weapons for one minute per paladin level. At level 5, the Spirit grants +1 Enhancement to the weapon, followed by +1 every 3 levels, up to a maximum of +6 at level 20. These bonuses can stack with the weapon's original buffs, but they cannot exceed a maximum of +5.

In addition to this, Spirits can also be used to add the following enchantments to weapons: Order, Radiance, Protection, Disintegration, Blazing, Fireburst, Holy, Sharpedge, Mercy, Pursuit. The bonus cost of adding an enchantment is the same as the bonus of the enchantment itself. The added enchantment works at the same time as the weapon's original enchantment, but the duplicate does not stack.

However, it should be noted that non-magic weapons must be given at least +1 boost bonuses before any enchantments can be added.

The buff bonus and enchantment are determined each time a soul is called, and cannot be changed until the next call. Non-Paladins who possess this weapon do not receive any benefits from the contract, but the soul still exists in the weapon, and the enhancement will reapply when the weapon is returned to the owner.

Level 5 Paladins can use this ability 1 time per day. For every 4 levels after level 5, the Paladin will receive 1 more use, up to a maximum of 4 times per day at level 17.

The second type of oath gives the paladin the ability to summon special mounts.

This mount resembles a druid's animal companion and uses the Paladin's class level as her effective druid rank. Contracted mounts have at least 6 intelligence.

The Paladin can call his mount with a full round of motion. This ability is equivalent to a spell ring level 1/3 of the Paladin's level. The mount will immediately appear next to the Paladin. Level 5 Paladins can use this ability 1 time per day. After level 5, the Paladin gains one more use for every 4 levels, up to a maximum of 4 times per day at level 17.

This special mount summoned with divine power has a huge advantage over normal mounts - its life, strength, intelligence, and innate defense can grow with the owner's level, and it also has a number of special abilities, such as the ability to communicate with the owner and share spell effects.

Regardless of whether the mount was previously injured or not, it appears intact every time it is summoned.

Appears and wears the same equipment you wore before your last return (including mount armor, saddles, saddlebags, etc.).

Therefore, even if the Paladin's mount is injured, as long as the summon is released and then summoned again, a mount in perfect condition will be obtained. Back then, this effect was even played in the hands of players, such as maintaining the mount's physical strength through such operations, continuous rushing, and so on.

According to the spell classification, summoning mounts belong to the spell system (calling) effect.

However, once the oath is made, whether the host spirit's weapon is destroyed, or the mount dies in battle, the Paladin will not be able to use this ability for the next month (30 days), or if the Paladin has increased his Paladin rank, and will be penalized with a -1 reduction in attack and damage for those 30 days.

Obviously, the first Covenant strengthens the Paladin's capabilities at the output end, and the second greatly increases the Paladin's mobility.

After thinking about it, Wren chose the second oath.

As a Black Knight, the additional abilities attached to the Oath of Vengeance have greatly increased his output, and there is no need to further strengthen this aspect for the time being.

However, since the main attribute of the paladin is charisma, and the secondary attributes are constitution and strength, it is relatively lacking in agility.

And an excellent mount can go a long way in making up for this shortcoming.

What's more, as a Black Knight, how can you not have a mount to match?

"Just let me see what my future partner is!"

After choosing the summon mount as the Holy Oath, Wren snapped his fingers and activated his newly acquired spell-like abilities.

The next moment, a gate of light composed of pure white holy light slowly formed in the dark alley, and in the holy light, the figure of a white horse gradually appeared.

Looking at the handsome white horse that walked in front of him with broken steps, a look of surprise appeared on Wren's face.

Celestial War Horse!

He never imagined that there would be celestial creatures answering his call.

Celestial beings inhabit the upper planes such as Heavenly Mountain and Elysium, and rarely appear in the main material plane.

Although the main material interface can find life similar to that of some kind of celestial creature, the celestial creatures are more ornate and beautiful than their earthly counterparts, and they are more powerful.

Celestial creatures are born with 60 feet of dark vision, increased damage reduction, and increased spell resistance, in addition to the ability to "slash evil", albeit only once a day.

If an ordinary paladin wants to summon a celestial creature as his mount, he must have the [Celestial Mount] specialty.

The Celestial War Horse lowered its head and rubbed it on Wren's shoulder affectionately, revealing a smart look in his clear eyes, and then snorted slightly.

"Sigh Rhythm ~~"

The Celestial Warhorse let out a low neigh, as if to tell Wren something.

"You're saying you crave adventure, so you squeezed out the ugly guys of the world and answered my call?"

With the help of his high domestication skills, Wren understood what the other party was trying to say.

The Celestial Horse's head focused a little more, and then rubbed Wren's chest.

Celestial creatures have much higher intelligence than normal creatures, at least 4.

"Well, man, I'm going to have to work hard for you in the future."

Wren patted the horse's strong neck.

After the other party responded to Wren's call, he obtained supernatural or special abilities such as psychic communication, proficient reflex evasion, spell sharing, and exemption verification sharing, so the celestial war horse could fully understand the continental lingua franca spoken by Wren.

"What a beautiful celestial warhorse!"

As an exclamation rang out, Wren and his new mount turned their gaze in the direction from which the sound had come from.

Miss Ranger's voice appeared in the field of vision of the two of them.
