Chapter 24 Everything has a cause and effect
A hundred years of life have passed in a blink of an eye, and when will Hongchen be busy.
Rich and poor are at their fingertips, and the gods and goddesses are all idlers.
On the way home, I thought about what happened in the clinic as I walked, it seems that everything has a cause and effect, fate is really mysterious, it has never stopped the cycle, although it can't be touched or seen, but it is like a shadow, and the bonds are not clear.
Master has told me many stories about cause and effect, and in retrospect, I have been able to connect many things and have my own theories.
As the saying goes, "Happiness is not a reward, but a result; Suffering is not punishment, but retribution. The so-called "good and evil will be rewarded in the end, and the way of heaven is good reincarnation", if you plant good causes, you will get good results in the future, and if you plant evil causes, then what you will reap in the future must be evil results. What we have lost will come back to us in another form, and in the same way, the kindness or harm we have done to others will come back to us in the future.
In this world, nothing will disappear forever, it will only exist in another form where we can't see it. As the old saying goes, you get melons when you plant melons, and you get beans when you plant beans, and if you want to harvest anything, please remember to sow seeds first. Therefore, everything has cause and effect, but if you do three good deeds, good fortune will come sooner or later!
Don't be light and kind, thinking that there is no blessing, although the water droplets are small, they are gradually becoming bigger. Good and evil are often just a thought. If one thought is good, everything is good; If one thought is evil, everything is evil. Doing good deeds and accumulating virtue is not divided into the size of things, but a kind of mentality towards things by yourself.
To be able to have good thoughts from the bottom of your heart, not only from your own point of view, but also to be able to have good thoughts from the bottom of your heart for friends, family, strangers, etc., is doing good deeds.
Don't take the good as small, don't take the evil as small. Good and evil are actually a process of accumulation, and after accumulating to a certain extent, the "results" of your good or evil deeds will eventually be repaid to you.
Moreover, the so-called goodness is not something you do for some kind of reward or purpose, but a kind of good thought that comes from your heart, which is the real goodness.
Your mouth hides the feng shui of your life, many people's practices are kind, and many people's hearts are kind, but the words that come out of your mouth are often full of evil thoughts, or lies, or donkey's lips are not in the horse's mouth. It can be seen that it is not enough to be kind-hearted, your mouth actually hides the feng shui of your life.
Lies can be divided into two kinds, benign and malicious, and many people do unscrupulous things behind their backs under the guise of white lies. And the real white lie is actually only beneficial to the other party, but not to oneself.
Your mouth not only hides your feng shui, but also your quality and cultivation. Because of a trivial matter, the quality of such a person must not be high, at least the word cultivation is not enough. At any time, we should be innocent, do things frankly, and be worthy of our hearts in life and deeds, so that we can be blessed again and again.
If the heart is sunny, it will be sunny everywhere you go. The so-called appearance is born from the heart, and what you look like can see what your state of mind is, and of course, you can also see your good and evil to a certain extent. If you say good things, do good deeds, have a good heart, and maintain a positive heart no matter what difficulties you face, then you must be the most touching in the mirror.
In a person's life, there will be troughs, downfalls, and disappointments, but don't let negative energy occupy your heart at any time.
Everything has a cause and effect, and blessings and misfortunes are all in people's hearts. Whether or not you have good fortune in your life depends on what kind of "cause" you have planted. Cause and effect is a big cycle, maybe not so obvious in a short period of time, but cause and effect is the fairest law in the world. Therefore, everything has cause and effect, but if you do three good deeds, good fortune will come sooner or later!
This reminds me of a story that Master told me before, the story of a disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha back then.
Legend has it that Shakyamuni Buddha was preaching to all his disciples, when suddenly he called out to Ananda and said, "Take a bucket and go to a small village five miles away, and ask an old woman who is washing clothes by the well for a bucket of water, remember to be polite and kind." β
Ananda nodded, took the empty bucket, and went in the direction indicated by Shakyamuni Buddha to ask for water. He wanted to say that such an easy thing must be easy to accomplish the task assigned by the World Venerable. Walking and walking, I came to the village, and there was a gray-haired old woman washing clothes by the well.
Ananda politely bowed to the old woman and said, "Old man, old man, can I ask you for a bucket of water?" β
When the old woman raised her head and looked at the young man, she couldn't help but be angry, and said angrily, "No, this well can only be used by the people of this village, and no outsiders are allowed!" β
Then he drove Ananda away, and let Ananda plead and pleaded unmoved! Ananda had no choice but to go back with an empty bucket. He told Shakyamuni Buddha and the disciples present about all the situations he had encountered. Shakyamuni Buddha nodded, motioned for Ananda to sit down, and then he told Sariputta to go.
Sariputta walked and walked and walked to the village; I saw the gray-haired old woman still washing clothes by the well.
Sariputta also said politely to the old woman, "Old man, old man, can I ask you for a bucket of water?" β
When the old woman looked up at the young man, she couldn't help but feel overjoyed, as if she had seen a very close relative. She happily said, "Okay! Yes! Come on, I'll help you fetch water......"
After making a bucket of water for Sariputta, he told him to wait. The old woman hurried home to get some fasting and told Sariputta to take it with her.
Sariputta returned with a whole bucket of water and told Shakyamuni Buddha and his disciples about the various situations he had encountered......
Shakyamuni Buddha nodded and motioned for Sariputta to sit down. Ananda and the disciples present were very puzzled and puzzled, and asked what kind of cause was the cause of the World-Honored One? There is such a big difference between Ananda and Sariputta.
Shakyamuni Buddha taught: In the first life before the catastrophe, this old woman was reduced to an animal, a mouse; He died on the side of the road, exposed to the scorching sun....... Ananda was a merchant in a hurry to do business at that time, and when he saw this dead mouse, he felt disgusted in his heart and covered his nose...... Sariputta was a scholar who was about to go to Beijing to take the exam, and when he saw this dead mouse, he felt pity in his heart and covered it with dirt.
After a long time, they now meet, and there is such a different kind of differential treatment. Can you imagine......
A small thought can have such a great retribution for good and evil, not to mention the pain that is directly inflicted on people!
After listening to Shakyamuni's story, I have a deeper understanding and comprehension of cause and effect, it can be said that there is no love for no reason in this world, and there is no hate for no reason, and there is a shadow of cause and effect behind it.
Maybe it's because I've experienced a lot now, and there are some things that they can't accept for a while.
When I talked about this topic with my parents, they obviously had a negative attitude, thinking that there is reincarnation in human life, which is ridiculous.
I didn't immediately refute their words, but said, "The universe is vast. In Liuhe, there are many strange things, and it is difficult to describe. The topic of the reincarnation of life alone has been explored endlessly from ancient times to the present. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, the four seasons alternate in reincarnation, and the twelve hours cycle one after another, including human life from birth, old age, sickness and death, and then to birth, old age, sickness and death, from ancient times to the present, continuous and endless. β
I told my parents that the truth of history was true, because the concept of reincarnation first came from Buddhism, and since the time of Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty, Buddhism was introduced to China, and the concept of reincarnation gradually emerged. With the evolution of culture, the theory of reincarnation was dissolved in Han culture.
However, long before Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty, the concept of reincarnation already existed in China's native culture. In the long process of exploring life, the Chinese ancestors have realized that the original spirit of man will not die, and life not only has its source, but also its destination.
In many classics in ancient times, it is recorded that in ancient times, Dayu's father Kun ruled the water for nine years and returned in vain. Emperor Yao saw that Kun was ruthless by nature, and repeatedly violated the emperor's orders, so he ordered Zhurong to die in Yushan. After his death, Kun turned into a yellow bear and jumped into the abyss next to Hayama, and it is recorded that the Xia, Shang, and San dynasties would hold suburban festivals to worship him.
It is recorded in "The Seventh Year of Zhao Gong" that when Zheng Guo's doctor Ji Liangxiao was in power, he was attacked by the master Zihui. After Bo You fled, he was killed by Zheng Qing's belt. After Bo You's death, he became a powerful ghost, and asked Zihui and Sidai for his life to collect debts, which made Zheng Guoren panic. Later, the virtuous son set up Bo You's son Liangzhi and Gongsun Ji as doctors to appease Bo You's soul, and the matter was stopped. Someone asked Zichan why he did this, and Zichan said, "If a ghost has a destiny, he won't be a ghost." I'm looking for a home for him! From this record, it can be seen that in the Spring and Autumn Period, it was believed that after death, not only the soul is immortal, but also has a destination.
In the Spring and Autumn Period, Duke Lu Huan and his wife Wen Jiang went to Qi for a friendly visit. Qi Xianggong committed adultery with Wen Jiang, and after Lu Huangong found out, he accused Xianggong. Xianggong sent his son, Peng Sheng, to kill Duke Huan. Under the pressure of the state of Lu, Xianggong executed Peng Sheng. Shi Zaipeng turned into a big pig after his death. While Xianggong was hunting, the big pig stood up and howled like a human, and Xianggong was so frightened that he fell off the car. That night, Xianggong was murdered and died.
During the Western Han Dynasty, Empress LΓΌ, also known as LΓΌ Pheasant, poisoned Zhao Wang Ruyi, the son of his favorite concubine Mrs. Qi, with wine. After Ruyi died, he turned into a dog, bit Lu Hou's armpit, and asked her for her life. Empress Lu was later injured and died soon after.
Before Buddhism was introduced to China, the concept and phenomenon of the cycle of life already existed in China, and the historians of all dynasties had an open attitude towards reincarnation. Otherwise, these historical facts would not have been recorded in the annals of history.
When my parents heard me talk about these historical events in one breath, they were a little surprised, and my mother wondered: "Where did you hear all these things?" Why haven't I been in contact with your dad before? Do you learn these things in school now? I don't care if the historical events you are talking about now are true or not, are there any records of people or things we know about this? β
When I heard this, I patted my head, remembered a great figure in history, and said to them: "Yes, the famous book "Shangshu" in history and the famous old Master Confucius in history, you all know, he said about reincarnation. β
Confucius said in "Yi Chuan β’ The First Dictionaries": "The essence is a thing, and the wandering soul is a change, which is the state of knowing ghosts and gods." The "essence" here refers to conception after reincarnation, and the "wandering spirit" refers to the condition before the reincarnation of the primordial spirit. Confucius had already recognized the "condition" of ghosts and gods, and although he did not explicitly put forward the concept of "reincarnation", he had a positive attitude towards the reincarnation of life and the existence of different conditions.
In the second year of King Wu of Zhou's war, he fell seriously ill. His younger brother Zhou Gongdan was willing to die in place of King Wu, so he specially wrote a congratulatory message, praying to his deceased great-grandfather King Taiwang, grandfather Wang Ji, and father King Zhou Wen, saying that he had talent, many skills, benevolence and filial piety, could obey the wishes of his ancestors and fathers, and could serve ghosts and gods.
Judging from this record, Zhou Gongdan wanted to die in place of King Wu and serve the spirits of his ancestors after his death. In the Zhou Dynasty, people already believed that when the body dies, the spirit will not dissipate, so the Duke of Zhou "invited it to the sky, and told the three kings, with the spirit of the three kings is already in the sky".
According to the records of the Book of Shang, during the Zhou Dynasty, people believed that the spirit existed, and the soul was immortal and would not dissipate with the decay of the body. Judging from Zhou Gongdan's prayers, the soul of the ancestors is not only immortal, but also the spirit is still in heaven, and it can also accept the worship of the descendants. In other words, at that time, people realized that when performing a sacrifice, a creature or god that existed in another dimension would perceive it. That's why Mencius once said, "Let it be the main sacrifice, and the gods will enjoy it." This sentence is to say that Yao asked Shun to preside over the sacrifice, and the gods would come to enjoy it and accept his worship. The ancestors have realized that people are separated from gods, and through sacrifices, people can maintain a connection with life in another dimension.
When my parents heard me say this, they also bowed their heads and fell into deep thought, and it was a little difficult to understand and accept these things, because after all, many of the contents of the education they received had not been studied and touched.
At this time, my father asked me, "According to what you say, this so-called reincarnation event is real, right?" So are there any other historical events or anything? β
I saw that they were all very curious, so I told them a few real events recorded in history, the cycle of life and death, as a universal law in the world, there are countless records throughout the ages. The reincarnation deeds recorded in the official history, such as "The Book of Jin β’ The Biography of Yanghu", say that Yanghu's previous life was the son of the neighbor Li family. According to the records of "Southern History: Liang Benji", Emperor Xiao Yi of Liang Yuan was a squinting monk who was born in the palace with an incense burner in his hand. "Northern History: The Biography of Li Huo" records that after the death of the official Li Shu, Tuomeng told his wife that he had been reincarnated as the daughter of the Liu family.
There are also many examples of reincarnation recorded in the "History of the Song Dynasty", such as the death of the Tang Dynasty Prime Minister Niu Shengyu and the reincarnation of Liu Xin of the Song Dynasty; Deng Yu, a general of the Eastern Han Dynasty, was reincarnated as Fan Zuyu of the Song Dynasty more than 1,000 years later, and assisted Sima Guang in compiling the "Zizhi Tongjian"; In the previous life of Dr. Guozi Guo Xiangzheng, he was a poet immortal Li Bai in the Tang Dynasty.
In addition to the official historical records, there are also a large number of accounts of the barnyard history of the past dynasties. According to the Sermon on Wenchang, Emperor Wenchang was a scholar in the 17th century. In "Compassion Water Confession", it is said that in the Tang Yizong Dynasty, the previous life of the Wuda National Teacher was Yuan Ang of the Western Han Dynasty. Yuan Ang killed Chao Cuo, who always wanted revenge, and waited for ten generations before waiting for an opportunity.
According to the Taiping Guangji, during the Tang Dezong period, the prime minister Han Rong was reincarnated by Zhongyou (Zilu), one of the seventy-two sages of Confucius. "Huhai News Yijian Continuation Chronicle" records that Song Gaozong's previous life was Qian Yu, the king of Wuyue. It is recorded in "Cold Fasting Night Talk" that Su Dongpo is the descendant of the Zen master of the Five Ancestors Temple. Zhang Fangping, a famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, was a monk in his previous life, and there was a volume of scriptures that he did not finish, and after reincarnation, he continued the front edge, and finally completed his long-cherished wish to copy the scriptures.
When Wang Yangming went to Jiangxi to be an official, he entered the temple to worship the Buddha, opened the door of the old monk of Jinshan who died fifty years ago, and saw a verse: "Fifty years ago, Wang Shouren opened the door like a closed person; After the elf is closed, it returns, and it is believed that the Zen door is not bad. Seeing the physical relics of the Nirvana monk and this epilogue, Wang Yangming suddenly realized, "It turns out that he is me!" "The body of the old monk in the previous life passed away here, but he already knew that he would be reincarnated again in the future, and opened the door of this room.
"The History of the Jade Huye" records that when the Southern Tang Dynasty general Bian Hao was born, his father saw Xie Lingyun coming to visit in a dream with a business card, and claimed to be Yongjia Taishou of the previous dynasty. He hoped to be reincarnated in the Bian family so that he could complete the translation of scriptures that he had not completed in his previous life.
There are a large number of cases of reincarnation recorded in the official history of barnyard history, including the reincarnation of monks as emperors or high-ranking officials, the reincarnation of women as men, the reincarnation of animals as animals, and the reincarnation of animals as humans.
What I told them tonight was actually just the tip of the iceberg that I knew, and with my super memory and ability to remember, I continued to say to them: "Do you feel that these things I said are not easy for you to accept? Not so easy to understand? Actually, these are not things I made up out of thin air, they are all events that are clearly recorded in the history books, so let me tell you something more incredible. β
So, I recorded in the Book of Wei that the ancestor of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Tuoba Liwei, that is, Emperor Shenyuan, was the son of the Heavenly Maiden and became the emperor in the next life. "History of the Song Dynasty β’ The Biography of Yang Li" records that Song Zhenzong descended to earth for the sake of coming and Tianzun.
Da Ruyuan asked in "Huhai News Yi Jian Continuation Zhi. As mentioned in the first volume of the first volume of the first collection of "The Queen of the Monarch", it is said that Song Renzong was a "barefoot immortal" who descended to earth, and the civil and military ministers of the dynasty were all heavenly immortal officials who came to the world and were ordered to assist Renzong. It was also said that Song Shenzong was a "Wuyi Immortal". When Song Taizong had not yet ascended the throne, he sat with Zhao Pu, and after a while, Taizong moved to the seat below him. After Chen Luan, a master from outside the world, came in, saw where they were sitting, grabbed Zhao Pu's hand, pulled him up, and said, "You are the little star monarch of Ziweiyuan, how can you suppress the emperor's throne!" β
"History of the Yuan" also records that Yu Ji, who served as a scholar, was born as a real person in Nanyue, and Lu Sicheng, a scholar from Hanlin, was the next generation of Wenchang Xingjun.
When I told them about these more incredible myths, they were a little unimpressed, thinking that what I said was a bit too mysterious, and that these mythical and story-like existences were just myths. However, they do know for sure that this reincarnation event may be real.
My father, who was beside me, also nodded and said, "Son, you have said so many events, but you have to make people re-examine themselves, if people have reincarnation, then the real soul of people should be immortal?" So when a person dies, his soul will continue with the cause and effect of his next life? β
I nodded and said, "Yes, from these many examples of reincarnation, not only do people not die out after death, but they also continue the course of life, living in another dimension, or waiting and waiting for the next rebirth. There are people who ascend to the heavenly palace, and of course there are those who fall into hell. β
At this time, my mother interjected on the side: "Actually, I think that no matter whether reincarnation exists or not, as long as we treat every day well, treat every life well, and cherish everything we have." Right? β
Dad also said, "Not bad! Be kind to every life! Cherish everything in front of you, this is also the principle of being a human being. β
I was very happy when I saw that they all had realized, so I told them a real example.
It is said that there was a famous industrialist who did the same. Every once in a while, he would take his wife and children to the crematorium. Someone was puzzled and asked why the industrialist did this. The industrialist said that as long as he arrived at the crematorium, people's impetuous hearts would soon calm down, and fame, fortune and wealth would be very light. In order to put himself in the hustle and bustle of the world, but always stick to the pure land of the soul, pampered and not shocked; In order to be able to face all kinds of temptations and be like a mirror, concentrate and focus, and have no distractions.
The crematorium can be said to be the last station of life. Here, no matter if this person was a high-powered, well-known nobleman in his lifetime; is still a rich man with a lot of money and a lot of money; or the obscure, impoverished common people; Even the infamous and hated sinners of the ages, who could not escape this place at last, had to come here at last, lie there in the same position, and be pushed into the furnace that burned with a raging fire.
When I came out again, I found that there was only a small square box wrapped in red cloth. "When you come, you are naked, and when you go, there is a wisp of green smoke." In fact, life is so simple.
The glory and wealth of life and camp are like smoke and dust here, but for a moment; The love and hatred of the mountains and the sea are all wiped out and written off here.
We live in a world full of materialistic desires, and we are always surrounded by all kinds of temptations: power, status, money, beauty...... As long as we can't hold it in our hearts, it will stir up waves in our hearts. What was originally a clear, pure, and peaceful heart will suddenly become noisy, impetuous, and full of utilitarianism.
A person, no matter how prominent he is in life, will only end up with a small pile of ash charcoal with Mars, so what else can we not let go of and see? Life is short, life is impermanent, if you can't let go of everything, you can't see everything, then in the end you just live a negative life.
On the contrary, if we can treat each day kindly, cherish each day, live each day well, and treat each day as if it were a lifetime. Then you don't need to spend time worrying, worrying, and sighing, but you will seize the time to enjoy life, health, happiness, and happiness. will cherish everything you have!
Their brains also need to digest the things I said tonight, so I didn't tell them any other examples, because I know that some things are understood by people themselves, and others can only play a guiding role.
Because the process of life is like the growth process of a crop, although the rhizome will dry up and rot in the end, its seeds will sprout and bloom again in the spring, and flourish again. These large number of records, whether from the official history, official revisions, or folk records, all confirm that reincarnation is not a lie, and that it has existed in all dynasties, opening a skylight for future generations to find the source of life.
I closed the door, sat on the bed, and thought back on all the experiences of today, sometimes I really feel that many things are arranged in advance, just for you to continue to experience and understand in the process, and then realize the meaning of life.
If people want to truly grasp their own destiny, they can only constantly change themselves and find answers in their own hearts.
This also made me even more determined, the path of cultivation that I had chosen, thinking of this, I immediately emptied the other thoughts in my mind and sat up on the bed, because I had been meditating and cultivating for a long time, my body and mind had been able to quickly enter that ethereal state of meditation.
Now, as I practice for longer periods of time, I find that meditation has become an integral part of my life.
When my body and mind were completely quiet, in a trance, a picture appeared in front of my eyes, it was the Song Dynasty in ancient times, and I saw Huang Tingjian.
At that time, Huang Tingjian was admitted to the Jinshi at the age of 26 and was appointed as the prefect of Huangzhou by the imperial court. You can actually see the scene in his dream?!
On this day, when he was taking a nap, he dreamed that he came to a village, and he saw a woman with white hair, standing in front of an incense table outside the house, on which was offered a bowl of celery noodles, and a person's name was called in her mouth. Huang Tingjian stepped forward and saw that the bowl of noodles was steaming and seemed to be delicious, so he unconsciously picked it up and ate it, and returned to the yamen after eating, and woke up with the fragrance of celery in his mouth.
When he took a nap the next day, it was exactly the same dream, Huang Tingjian felt very strange, so he got up and walked out of the yamen, followed the road in the dream, walked until he walked outside the door of the house in the dream, knocked on the door and entered, it was the old woman he saw in the dream, and asked her if she had put noodles outside the door and called people to eat noodles.
The old woman replied, "Yesterday was the death anniversary of my daughter, because she liked to eat celery noodles when she was alive, so I called her outside the door to eat noodles, and I called her that every year." β
Huang Tingjian asked, "How long has your daughter been dead?" β
The old woman replied, "It's been twenty-six years." β
Huang Tingjian thought to himself that he was exactly twenty-six years old, and yesterday was his birthday, so he couldn't help but be curious and came to the old woman's boudoir.
Huang Tingjian asked, "What's inside?" β
The old woman replied, "All my daughter's books." β
Huang Tingjian asked, "Can I open it?" β
The old woman replied, "I don't know where she put the key, so she can't open it." β
Huang Tingjian thought for a while, remembered where to put the key, and told the old woman to find it, open the bookcase, and find many manuscripts. He took a closer look and found that the essays he wrote in each test paper were all in it, and there was no word for word.
Only then did Huang Tingjian fully understand that he had returned to his hometown in his previous life, and the old woman was his mother in his previous life, and she was the only one left in his hometown. So Huang Tingjian knelt on the ground, explained that he was the reincarnation of her daughter, recognized her as her mother, and then returned to the mansion to bring people to greet her mother and raise her for life.
Later, Huang Tingjian planted a cluster of bamboos in the back garden of the palace, built a pavilion, named "Di Cui Xuan", there is a stone tablet carving of Huang Tingjian in the pavilion, he inscribed himself, praised and said:
It seems that the monk has hair, and it seems that the vulgar has dust;
Dream within a dream, realize the outside body.
When I saw this in meditation, the picture stopped abruptly, and only the sixteen words were displayed in front of me, but these sixteen words brought me new inspiration and immersed my mind in it...
