Resolve troubles with great greed
When the body is sick, people are troubled. Body pain is reluctance because of greed for the body. So, when the body starts to have a condition, the greed will slowly grow and the body will be reluctant to give up, and what will grow at this time is the ego of the person who is attached to himself. When you don't get sick, you can't let go of anything, and others say some unpleasant language to yourself, whether the words are positive or negative, as long as they are against the ear, they probably don't want to accept it. When I hear a bad word, I feel resentful, thinking that since the other person speaks a bad language, then I will say something even more unpleasant to him, and I will retaliate with a tooth for a tooth. In this way, we are fueling our afflictions, which are the infinite expansion of our afflictions due to the existence of our ego.
If this kind of attachment is applied positively, it will have a positive effect. For example, when I am sick, I am compassionate to my own body, but I am more compassionate to other people's bodies, thinking that no matter what emotion others are in now, including sorrow, sadness, pain, frustration, trouble, etc., I use empathy to cultivate empathy feelings, and after such feelings have been cultivated, I will not be numb and insensitive when others are sick. When a child is sick, parents will have a more painful feeling than cutting off their own flesh, which comes from cultivating feelings. This is also the exchange of self and others in Buddhism.
This kind of love extends beyond the other beings of the six realms, and it is great greed. As Shantideva said, this is very much needed at the moment. The problem is that instead of using our cravings for the great compassion of liberating ourselves, we use them for generating negative afflictions. What is greed that causes trouble? The child's learning is not good, which makes me suffer; Other people's opinions about children make me miserable; When my children grow up, the situation of their work can also cause me pain. This kind of possession of children as one's own wealth is called egoism. Thoughts like this for oneself are the reason for the growing number of troubles. We treat it as our own, and our desires have extended to it. This is what the Tibetan monk Pazu Rinpoche said: "As much wealth as you have, there is great suffering; As much as there is attachment, there will be as much affliction and pain as there is. ”
It is impossible for people to have everything, especially the freedom of the soul, how many people can have it? When someone praises and praises us, we feel very comfortable, and we are very tolerant at the moment, and we are so loving that we can take care of the whole world. But if someone says something negative about themselves, they will be less and less tolerant. There is no limit to the size of the heart itself.
In the perception of ordinary people, high learning, strong ability, and wealth are the sources of happiness, but in fact this is not necessarily the case. Will a person be happy when all the wealth, learning, ability, fame, money, power, etc., of the world are concentrated in him? No. The man who has a lot of wealth suffers a lot because he doesn't know what to do. It may be possible to have a lot of power and wealth with ingenuity, but to turn power and wealth into a source of happiness, it is absolutely impossible to do without wisdom, and even become a source of suffering. After many people have wealth, they worry about being stolen and robbed every day, and relatives and friends hate each other because of power, wealth, fame and fortune. On the other hand, there are many poor and backward people who live in harmony with each other.
When people have hatred and trouble, they will first manifest themselves in their bodies and words, such as looking at each other angrily, hurting others, and hurting others. Although praising others is the most expensive way to accumulate merit and resources, and we can also get the love of others, we are stingy to praise others with sincerity and sincerity, and instead do everything possible to find fault and stir up trouble when others do good deeds. In fact, this state of mind stems from another kind of disturbance—jealousy, which is a reluctance to have what others have. In fact, if we can praise and rejoice, others will share it with us. We can see that many wise people are willing to share their knowledge, abilities, and wealth with others. If you don't always praise and please others, and try to deceive them, others will of course be wary of you at all times and will not want to share with you.
As modern civilization becomes more and more advanced, people want to achieve everything quickly, and even buy things on the Internet without going out, and they are less and less inclined to contact with other people, and they are becoming more and more closed. Originally, the greatest blessing of being a human being was to know ethics, obey the law, and be free to get along with others, but now we are more and more afraid. Everyone is trying to obtain the wealth and resources of this world, and they are desperately competing, just because they are worried that what they have will be taken away by others. It is also because of this suspicion that we cannot trust each other that causes us to feel upset about everything. Although the ancients said that "the heart of harming others is indispensable, and the heart of guarding against others is indispensable", the defense of people should not be to this extent. When you defend yourself to the point that your mind is shrinking and shrinking, you will not be able to tolerate others having the same wealth, wisdom, knowledge, living environment, etc., and will try your best to protect yourself and destroy others. It's like many animals kill the children of other animals for the sake of their children, and many birds have this habit. In this way, suspicion will become heavier and heavier, and everyone will not play according to the rules, so it will be impossible to judge whether the person can or cannot socialize. When people get along with each other, there will be a lot of emotions, and being able to tolerate today does not mean that everything will be tolerated tomorrow, so as soon as there is any dissatisfaction, they begin to stir up trouble. Sometimes I regret it after spreading right and wrong, and then I get darker and darker.
Therefore, we must know how to properly use modern civilization, otherwise we will become a source of trouble.
At the end of the day, we can see that all suffering comes from ignorance, because ignorance makes us completely ignorant of what brings happiness and what causes suffering. And when you learn the Dharma, learn the bodhisattva thoughts of great compassion, and then put them into action, you will suffer less and less. Because your heart will become more and more vast, like the sea and the void, and it can contain all positive and negative things. Whether you think sentient beings are right or wrong, you have to know that it's all because of their habits, and it's all because there are disturbing emotions. If we understand it in this way, our ego will gradually decrease, our mind will become bigger, our days will become happier, and our wisdom will grow more and more. Because the elimination of self-grasping is the increase of wisdom, and when the discriminating mind is gradually broken, one can attain all the blessings and happiness that a human being can have in the short world, and in the end, one can attain eternal happiness, that is, attaining Buddhahood.
The only way to reduce suffering and gain happiness is to understand your afflictions and then purify them through bodhichitta so that your afflictions become less and less. With less trouble, there will naturally be less suffering.
The so-called "bell must be tied to the bell", we want to resolve our own troubles, the best shortcut is to start directly from the troubles, face the troubles! The root of our afflictions is our ego, and the way to transform them is to learn to give and benefit others. The Buddhist scriptures say, "All the happiness of this world is derived from the pursuit of the happiness of others." All the suffering in this world is secretly formed by the pursuit of one's own happiness. "Troubles come from oneself, and happiness comes from others.
