Feel all beings with empathy

The ten demerits, the five poisons, etc., are the root cause of all suffering. If you want to pull it out, you have to use the opposite force to deal with it. So, knowing the sins of the ten negative karmas, such as knowing that it is wrong to kill or harm others, then what we need to do now is to protect lives and respect other lives. This method is self-equality, self-exchange, and self-respect. If these methods are not practiced very deeply and really cultivate feelings with other beings, then they are just imaginations and become a kind of slogan. Just like the relationship with family and friends, the neighborhood community, or the identity of different nationalities, it is all obtained through the cultivation of feelings; If they all live in their own small circles, they will have a xenophobic mentality.

When we were children, our parents taught us that Tibetans are like relatives, and that other ethnic groups are different from us. But as we get older, we find that there is no difference in people's feelings and habits, and when we can understand others, we become more and more harmonious with each other and can communicate with each other. When we were children, we thought it was ridiculous to sit on a bench to eat, because the Tibetan diet was to sit cross-legged on the ground in a regular manner, with a pair of chopsticks and a table for each person, and the food was placed in front of them, and they would not pick up the dishes in front of others. At first, we couldn't agree with the eating habits of the Han people at all, because we were not used to the dishes in front of us, so we couldn't eat them. But now we feel very close to the eating habits of the Han region, including the dishes in front of the other party. This is what comes naturally after the cultivation of feelings.

Buddhism treats people of different races, cultures, and backgrounds in this way, and learns to respect each other. If you respect other people's customs and understand the allusions behind them, you will feel very relatable. And when you know how to respect others, you will know how to respect life. Without respect, there is no self-respect and self-exchange; Without tolerance, the discriminating mind will become stronger and stronger. Therefore, we must first learn empathy, cultivate empathy, and exchange with others; By cultivating this affection regularly, you will be able to understand the pain of the patient or others.

When you learn to respect others, you will stop hurting others, and you will gradually respect other beings in this way, including all visible creatures and other invisible beings in this world. When we respect them as well, we don't kill them and release them naturally. Liberation is to cultivate compassion. Buddhists are sometimes criticized for releasing this group, believing that if one group is released, the next group will be killed, and that the next group of lives will be killed as a result of the release. However, this is the same as a doctor saving a person. Even if the offender is a serious offender, the doctor has to save him, because the doctor only thinks about how to treat the disease and save the person. Maybe the doctor spent a long time saving people, spent a lot of medical expenses, and the person may die immediately after being discharged from the hospital, but it can't be because the patient has terminal liver cancer and has a gunshot wound, and he will die anyway, so he doesn't save people. It's the same with releasing life, when we see an animal suffering and we rescue it at the moment, as for whether the sentient beings behind it will be killed, or whether this sentient being will be caught and killed by someone else because I let it go, it depends on the karma of each person. At all times, we should try to give fearless charity to all beings.

The real release is not that you buy an animal and then release it; It's about finding an environment that suits them and won't be harmed. Shakyamuni Buddha was the first to set up an animal nature reserve, and Sarnath was established to prevent hunters from harming the animals.

To deal with theft, try to give alms. Giving is not necessarily giving money to others, but it is also possible to say good things or praise someone when he does a good deed. Because we can't do it, we praise and rejoice in others. It's also good to be involved in volunteering, rather than just studying the Dharma theory. If you have enough financial means and great blessings, it doesn't matter if you give a little more. Just like there are many rich people in the world, who own a lot, know how to give back to the public, and do charity everywhere. After all, wealth comes from the public, and if you know how to give back, your good fortune will continue to grow. Giving is also a way to free us from our troubles.

There are also those who purify their sinful karma by taking ordination and practicing forbidden actions, such as taking the eight fasts. The first to fifteenth day of the first lunar month is the fifteenth day of Shakyamuni Buddha's subjugation of the outer path, or the eighth, tenth, and fifteenth day of each month, especially April 8 is the day of the birth of the great Shakyamuni Buddha, and April 15 is the day of enlightenment.

Samsaric beings are placed in their own six realms because of the drive of karma and the law of cause and effect, but each sentient being has a common psychological need to pursue happiness and avoid suffering. On the basis of this common need, all beings should be equal. So, for those of us who are practicing Buddhism, Shantideva once said, "If one cannot learn to replace the suffering of others with one's own happiness and sincerity, then not only will one not be able to attain full Buddhahood in the future, but one will not have a happy life even in life and death." So in order to stop self-grasping and to get rid of all kinds of suffering of sentient beings forever, we should try to practice giving ourselves completely to others, and to love all living beings as we love ourselves. ”
