Chapter 6 The umbrella company is recruiting

On the streets of Atlanta, a large number of abandoned cars are parked haphazardly, and wandering zombies gather in twos and threes, they pricked up their ears, their teeth and claws, and they are always watching the wind and grass on the road.

Any slightest breath of life will cause them to stir.

Garbage, corpses, wreckage, and everything else are blocking traffic, making the otherwise wide road rugged and difficult.

The closer you get to the city center, the worse this phenomenon becomes, and it's hard to find a road in the city that's suitable for cars.

Driving a military truck from outside the CDC, Leon holds the steering wheel with one hand on the steering wheel with the other in his mouth, and constantly marks the map with the other.

He did not try to penetrate deep into the city, where the roads were blocked and impassable.

Instead, choose to drive along Interstate 83 in the suburbs, clinging to the edge of the city, and bypassing the dangerous city center.

Along the way, Leon didn't drive fast, and he would record the information along the way, where there were corpses, where there were shops, where there might be a large amount of supplies, and where it could be used as a stronghold.

This is a long-term job, it can't be done overnight, and the days ahead are still long, and sooner or later they will explore this place and scavenge for the resources inside.

But that's also later, and Leon only came out with two targets this time, a quarry on the outskirts of Atlanta's South City and a St. Joss Shan retirement home on the edge of South Town.

In both places, there may be a gathering of survivors.

The quarry is where Sean, Crossbow, Rick's wife and others set up camp.

And St. Joe's Nursing Home is the location of the gang that kidnapped Glenn at the beginning of the plot.

The people in the nursing home should be easier to find, they have been sticking to the nursing home since the beginning of the disaster, as long as they look for it, they can be found.

It's the quarry's side...

Now there is still a month before the plot begins, and Leon is not sure if Sean and the others have already set up camp in the quarry, and they may still be elsewhere.

However, it doesn't matter, he is going to run it all, what the actual situation is, just see for yourself.

The quarry was about five kilometres from the city, and Lyon was quickly approached by referring to the map in hand.

It's a small valley surrounded by woods, with flatlands, lakes, and woods, and it's a secluded location not far from the city, making it a good location for camping.

It's just that there are no buildings here, no protection, no danger to defend, once it is raided by zombies, you must use your body to form a defense line, which is quite dangerous.

Instead of rushing in, Leon chose a hidden high ground, condescendingly, and scouted carefully.

On the edge of a lake surrounded by trees, I was pleasantly surprised to find many traces of cars and tents.

Don't think about it, it must be the camp of Sean and the others.

I'm so lucky, I found it so easily, could it be that this is the luck of the protagonist?

However, it is also reasonable to say that human survival is inseparable from water sources, and now that most of the buildings have been cut off from water and electricity, such a natural reservoir must be the priority of the survivors.

Having found his target, Leon did not hesitate any longer, he returned to the truck and connected the radio communicator to the nearest source.

It's acting time again, and I seem to have a bit of talent as an actor.

He acted very well when he negotiated with Dr. Melfa.

He cleared his throat, spoke in a relaxed tone, and said:

"Hey!"

"Is anyone there?"

"This is Leon Custer."

"Please answer if you receive it."

shouted three times in a row before there was movement on the other side.

There was a cacophony on the radio communicator, and after seven or eight seconds, a female voice responded excitedly, and it was difficult to hear what she was saying, and then after a few seconds, it changed to a deep male voice, and the accent replied clearly:

"Hello."

"This is Officer Sean Welsh."

"Mr. Leon Custer, can you hear this side clearly?"

The corners of Leon's mouth curled slightly, and there was some pleasure in his voice.

"Hear me clearly, Mr. Officer."

Sean's voice was a little excited in response.

"Yes, Mr. Custer."

"Excuse me, where are you now?"

"Are you safe there?"

"I'm safe now, Officer Sean," Leon replied.

"And I'm in Atlanta."

There was silence on the walkie-talkie for a few seconds, and he said in a somewhat strange tone:

"You're in Atlanta too?"

"Yes, Officer Sean."

"Our umbrella company's base is here."

"Umbrella Company, what's that?"

"You own a base?"

"Hehe, that's a good question, Officer Sean, but it's a bit complicated to explain." Leon said.

"You can think of him as a self-help organization."

"Can we meet in person?"

"I'm near the quarry"

Sean's voice suddenly became vigilant.

"Are you here?"

"How many of you are there, and for what purpose?"

Leon smiled and replied:

"Don't worry, Officer Sean, it's just me."

"It was because I discovered your camp that I radioed you."

"Look in the direction of twelve o'clock."

"About a kilometer north, that camouflage truck, the one under the big tree, do you see it?"

"That's my car, and I'm right there."

"Don't worry, I came with good intentions and won't act rashly."

In the distance, Leon saw what appeared to be a small commotion in the camp, and after about two minutes, Sean's deep voice came over the intercom.

"Mr. Leon, don't come here yet."

"We'll come to you ourselves."

Leon doesn't mind, this kind of world, it is right to be cautious.

"Okay, Officer Sean."

"I'll wait for you here."

Seeing that Leon was so easy to speak, the voice on the other side became much kinder.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Leon, please wait a few minutes and we'll be right here."

About three minutes later, Leon saw two cars slowly moving from the quarry towards his location.

It drove until it was about fifty meters away from the camouflage truck in Lyon before stopping.

Sean was the first to get out of the car, holding a black shotgun in his hand.

Behind him, five men with weapons also got out of the car, huddled around, and followed behind Sean.

As soon as they got out of the car, they heard a refreshing male voice from the opposite side, and a tall and powerful man stepped down from the camouflage truck

"Hey, Officer Sean, meet again."

"I'm Leon Cust, do you still recognize me?"

Hearing the voice, Sean looked up and saw a somewhat familiar figure, his pupils shrunk slightly.

The man had short dazzling blond hair, a strong and tall build, and was wearing a brand new black high-end suit with a heavy military bulletproof jacket over the suit.

He is very handsome, his dark green eyes are deep and deep, and he always seems to have a plain and confident smile on his face.

A swarthy and shiny fully automatic assault rifle is lying across the man's chest, looming on the camouflage combat belt, and there are also hanging pistols, magazines, fragmentation grenades and other light weapons, well-equipped and very powerful deterrent.

Sean's voice hesitated a little, and he asked uncertainly, "Doctor Custer?" Is that you? ”

Leon nodded, the smile on his face unchanged.

"That's right, that's me."

"But, Officer Sean, I'm no longer a doctor, I'm now the manager of Umbrella Corporation."

Behind Sean, an old-fashioned man in a leather jacket asked:

"Umbrella Corporation, what's that, the military?"

Leon recognized him, Moore Dixon, the older brother of the crossbow, a scumbag, and a good brother.

"Huh, army?"

A mocking smile appeared on Leon's handsome face, and according to memory, he had recognized all six people opposite, former police officer Sean, old gangster Moore, Korean courier Glenn, good old guy Dale, black T-boy, and good father Morales.

He stared at Mohr unceremoniously, and said in an indifferent tone:

"This gentleman, there is no army left, and all the armies have been routed by zombies."

"New York, Los Angeles, Washington, the town, the military, the police, all the official organizations have failed."

He didn't care about the surprise of the six people opposite, and continued:

"No one will come to our rescue, and if we want to live, we can only rely on ourselves."

"No way, you're talking nonsense, how could you possibly know about this news."

Morales suddenly interjected, his face turned pale, and when he heard Leon's words, he subconsciously thought it was a lie.

"Half a month ago, I heard on the radio that the army had set up a refuge camp in Alabama, and they had troops, food, and would take in refugees, and it was impossible for them to fail so easily."

Leon shrugged his shoulders indifferently and said:

"Believe it or not, I received the news that ten days ago, all twelve refuge camps deployed by the military across the United States were breached by zombies."

"The chain of command was destroyed, a large number of soldiers and civilians were slaughtered, and only a small number of survivors escaped.

"In the whole of America, there is no longer a force to fight the zombies head-on."

"How is that possible!" Morales's face turned pale from iron blue, and he stood there a little lost in his soul, muttering to himself.

The others were similar, their faces were very ugly, and they put their letters together suspiciously, and discussed the news brought by Leon in a whisper, some believed, some doubted, and some were angry.

Sean didn't join their discussion, he had already guessed this in his heart, his face was calm, he frowned, and he asked in an impatient low voice:

"So, you haven't said yet, what exactly is the Umbrella Company?"
