Chapter 14: On the Train
It's a pity that sadness is not destined to be a lasting thing for the twins.
When the Weasleys were out of sight, Fred and George's rare sadness immediately flew to Africa.
They sat down excitedly in their seats, their eyes turning to the clouds that kept passing by, and Carl even heard the two of them still discussing who would lean out to pick a cloud.
"I dare say, it must be softer than our quilt." Fred bet.
As Carl tries to correct the twins' misconceptions about clouds, Percy suddenly pushes open the door and walks in.
"I'll see if you're being honest." Percy's words made the twins very dissatisfied, but Carl had gradually understood what Percy was saying, and before the twins could fight back, he was the first to speak: "We're chatting, Percy, what did you mean by Gryffindor?" โ
His words made both Fred and George forget what they were supposed to do, and instead looked at Carl with the same astonishment as Percy.
"I forgot, Muggles don't understand that." Fred muttered.
"Didn't we even mention it?" George was also a little incredible.
"Oh my God, I thought Dad told you." Percy covered her forehead. "You didn't say that?"
Carl hadn't really heard Mr. Weasley mention this, and when they were alone, they talked more about ordinary people - just like he had just corrected Fred and George's misconceptions about the white clouds.
Percy cleared his mind and explained, "Hogwarts is a school of witchcraft and wizardry, co-founded by the great Big Four a long time ago, so four houses are named after them: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin. โ
After a pause, he continued: "It is said that the different houses were set up by the great four to choose their favorite students: Gryffindor valued personal qualities, Ravenclaw believed that intelligence was the key to determining students, and Slytherin believed that ambition and ambition were the key to determining the fate of a character. As for Hufflepuff, she insisted that diligence was the most important thing, so she embraced all the students who had been picked on by others, as long as they could study hard. โ
Fred and George glanced at each other, both feeling a little confused: "Is that so?" Percy, that's not what Mommy said? โ
Fred recalled: "Mom said that Gryffindor was the best house, and that Ravenclaw only accepted weirdos, Hufflepuffs, but Mom didn't say it, just that it was closest to the kitchen. โ
"And, of course, Slytherin." George added, "Mom said that the graduates there were either already in Azkaban or sooner or later they were going to Azkaban. Carl, do you know Azkaban? It's a prison among wizards, and only the worst of the worst are locked up there, and in short, it's full of bad seeds. โ
Percy couldn't hold back a smile on her face, stood up, and pretended to be serious, "That's Mommy teasing you." When you enter the school, you'll find that I didn't count what I just said. โ
"Times have changed, and now the great Dumbledore is the headmaster, but in fact the four houses are not so distinct, and we will take classes with different houses every year in order to learn from each other's good qualities."
"Gryffindor also has bright students, Ravenclaw has students of good character who do not lack courage, Hufflepuff also has ยทยทยทยทยทยท" Percy froze, he thought for a long time and barely held back a sentence, "Students with good grades." โ
"Even Slytherin hasn't been so bad in recent years." Percy said this, and suddenly spread his hands, "Well, Slytherin is still so bad, not as serious as Mommy said, but they are all too shrewd, which is probably why they won four House Cups in a row." โ
He shouted outside, "Penelope, I'm right. โ
Outside, a snorting female voice came from the outside: "Don't ask me, I'm the weirdo your mother said!" โ
Percy glared at the twins and nodded to Carl, "I still have to go beforehand." โ
He looked outside, then whispered, "But Mom is right, Gryffindor is the best house at Hogwarts. โ
Percy smiled at the twins again, "You must keep up with Carl, I look forward to your performance in the Sorting House." โ
At the mention of the sorting assessment, the twins immediately wilted.
The twins looked at Carl, "I hope you can get a Gryffindor, Carl." โ
Carl didn't have any additional thoughts about the Branches, as he didn't know much about the houses and what their strengths were, but he asked, "Which house has the most books?" โ
He wanted to be able to improve his power and master more magic.
This undoubtedly requires more knowledge.
And judging from the price of the Blotted bookstore, books that record magical knowledge are undoubtedly the most valuable treasure.
"It's over!" Fred covered his eyes, and George lay on top of him, with the same sad expression.
"It's supposed to be Ravenclaw." There was a man at the door, carrying a suitcase, and suddenly said.
The people in the cubicle all looked at the door, and as the people inside the door walked in, Qi Qi felt that the whole room seemed to become a lot brighter.
Although his face was still very immature, this was the most handsome teenager Carl had ever seen.
He has the straight features necessary for a handsome guy, and flowing and silky brown hair, and is a little taller than a student of this age.
"Cedric!" Fred and George rejoiced in unison by calling out the name of the boy at the door.
They welcomed the boy in, one took the suitcase from his hand and put it away, and the other offered to introduce them to both parties: "This is Carl, our friend, he is from the Muggle world, he is a genius." This is Cedric, our neighbor, who lives not far from us, and we get together a lot this summer. โ
"Carl Turinus." Karl held out his hand and smiled.
"Cedric Diggory." Cedric also held out his hand while continuing the conversation earlier, "My mom said that there are quite a few books in the Ravenclaw common room, among which it is said that there is also the legacy of Ms. Ravenclaw, but more are magic books donated by previous alumni. โ
Carl took it to heart.
"Cedric, will you enter Ravenclaw?" Fred asked, "I've heard they're all weirdos. โ
"Well, my mom is a Ravenclaw. I don't think she's as weird as everyone says. Cedric replied awkwardly, but he didn't show any signs of anger, and was undoubtedly a good-natured man.
"I'm supposed to be in Hufflepuff, we're all Hufflepuffs."
"Our family is a Gryffindor. We should be in Gryffindor as well. Fred said frustratedly, "But Carl, you can't talk about it. โ
"Actually, it's pretty much the same." Although he had already decided to enter Ravenclaw, Carl still comforted him on the surface, "Even if I enter Ravenclaw, you won't alienate me because I'm a weirdo." โ
His words made Fred and George laugh.
The emotions of children at this age come and go quickly, and soon their conversation turns to the sorting ceremony.
Cedric also received similar news from his family to Fred and George, but the difference was in the content of the test, his father said that if he tried his best, he would pass, while his mother said that he would have a duel.
"Maybe different colleges have different assessments." Carl guessed. "Gryffindor values morality, and this needs to be examined in the context of danger, while Ravenclaw values intelligence, which undoubtedly needs to be reflected in the competition between people. As for Hufflepuffs, uh, there's no doubt that they choose students who work hard. โ
Carl's guess was well-founded and convincing to the three people present.
But Carl still muttered in his heart, is this really the case, how many people can be enrolled in this car?
Through contact with the Weasleys, he discovered that these young wizards who had not yet entered school knew almost nothing magic.
Face fire dragons, trolls, these dangerous monsters that ordinary people say by word of mouth, or duel with people?
What do they use to pass these tests?
Don't let them poke each other with wands worth seven Galleons!
Could it be a fist?
Looking at the fists around him, which were no more than the size of a loaf of bread, Carl didn't think they could rely on their fists to solve the danger.
Isn't there me, though?
Instead of saying what was on his mind, Carl had a happy conversation with them about other things: everything from Quidditch, to Diagon Alley, each other's wands, to those funny magic toys, and so on.
Towards noon, they bought some snacks together from a smiling witch and shared lunch with each other.
After Carl showed interest in the Wizard Card, they generously gifted him all the cards in the Chocolate Frog they had purchased.
Carl is very interested in the wizarding biographies on the cards, which is an important way for him to learn about the wizarding world as a whole.
Especially the achievements of the truly great wizards, who are eager to know the secrets of their might.
They later played a game: Bibi Duowei Bean Quiz, a magic bean that is said to contain all the flavors of the world, and the most amazing thing is that it will tell you what it tastes like when you eat it.
The rules are simple: everyone takes turns picking out a bean, judging what it tastes like based on its appearance and smell, and then the person who guessed it in the previous round eats it (or takes turns if it doesn't), and the loser eats a brain melon.
The game was proposed by Fred, but the best performer was Cedric, who won four out of ten rounds.
Of course, this also made him the biggest victim of Fred's game.
"Phew, it's a boogie smell." Cedric spat out the unfinished beans, "I'm never going to buy them again." Anyway, why should the winner be punished like this? I'd rather be beaten! โ
Everyone else laughed with their reddened foreheads.
As Cedric complained, the train slowed down, and a voice echoed through the train: "The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes, please leave your luggage on the train, and we will take you to school." โ
Carl looked out the window, a deep blue sky of mountains and woods.
Hogwarts is in the middle of it.
