Chapter Twenty-Eight: Where the Bones Look
Before following Esther to check on Gullick's condition, Veronica and the three of them discussed it and asked Esther if she could wait a few minutes for them.
Esther agreed, and followed them, continuing to control the fireball with her longsword, illuminating the area around the trio.
But when she saw the three of them carrying the broken flesh on their heads and continuing to turn over the mutilated monster corpse, Esther consciously stopped and stood quietly waiting - she didn't need to participate in this kind of activity.
There was nothing of value to her in the monster, at least that's what the "thief's" instincts told her, and the crow on Esther's shoulder didn't react.
In a moment, however, Zola cried out with joy, and Veronica glared at her noisy one-eyed companion, then swung her sword and pulled a string of iron-black from the shredded flesh and hung it on Pyne, who was also screaming excitedly, to carry him back to the city.
Even from a distance, Esther noticed that the thing had a special material, eighty percent of which was the spine in the monster's body, and this seemed to be the harvest that the three of them were looking for.
As Zola and Pyne continued their meticulous search, Veronica flicked her sword twice, retracted her back, and walked to Esther's location.
However, the moment the crow's gaze swept over, Veronica's footsteps immediately stopped two meters away, not daring to advance any further distance.
This resolute lady took off her helmet directly, and under the soft red hair wrapped in a belt, she revealed a face of Esther's age, with narrow and bright eyes and a high nose bridge, so that when she pursed the corners of her lips, she naturally had a sharp temperament, which matched the impression between her words and deeds.
A long scar that had been stitched up, extending from Veronica's forehead to her chin, spread over half of her face, making her originally sassy and heroic appearance look hideous, and there was still a circle of black iron wire in the scar, which was completely with Veronica's flesh and blood.
"I was too hasty in introducing myself, so I thought I should be more serious. Veronica, a mid-level soldier in Spark City, is honored to meet you, Your Highness."
When she said this, she stomped down with her right foot, clenched her right hand into a fist, and struck it four times in front of her, knocking the red "iron coat" into the shape of a cross.
Estic nodded, "Your Highness doesn't need to be called this kind of title, and I'm glad to see you." For me, there's really nothing to introduce myself, I'm just looking for survivors here."
"The incident you said earlier is about the 'outside world,'" Veronica hesitated a little, "It may be rude, but I can't believe what you're saying for a while."
Esther glanced at Pyne and Zola on the other side, and Zola, who was secretly observing the situation here, quickly turned away and continued to pretend to be trying to find a harvest
Esther smiled helplessly, "I understand. In fact, there are a few other surviving towns here, and I'm just out of ...... Well, out of interest, I want to visit you."
Veronica distracted herself and looked at the crow on Esther's shoulder, "Do you know where the nearest town is?"
Esther didn't mind telling the other party about it, "Silver City, or Silver Country, if you still have that place in your account, it should be a short distance away from Spark City."
"We've never heard of this city, and it seems like it's really quite far away." Veronica smiled wryly.
Esther pointed to the crow on her shoulder, "Actually, this guy brought me here near Spark City, but obviously, it doesn't remember the exact location of the city either."
The black crow sneered, then closed his eyes, seemingly completely unoblivious to Esther's words.
Veronica fell silent, her eyes flickered, falling on her two friends, and it took more than ten seconds for her to speak again, her voice was low:
"If you are willing to tell us how to go to that 'outside world', I think you can make any request and we will do our best to make ......
"It's just your personal opinion, isn't it?" Esther smiled at Veronica, "You don't have the authority to make such a decision."
「……」
Zola and Pyne finally gave up torturing the fragmented remains of the monster, and Pyne, carrying the long coiled vertebrae, followed Zola briskly, while Zola was shaking off the gray flesh on his body, and he looked at Veronica first.
Veronica shook her head at Zola calmly, "Let's go find Gulik first, and we'll wait until we get back to the city."
Esther, of course, was the one leading the way, and she heard a muffled voice behind her, and Pyne was discussing with Zora what the "snake-devouring stone bone" could be used to make something, and Veronica interjected from time to time, and seemed to have a deep understanding of this aspect as well.
Although it was quite terrifying when they ran for their lives, this monster that was accidentally solved by someone could even fall on their heads, which still made the simpler two people feel very happy.
Veronica, on the other hand, was even more worried about what Esther would ask for from Spark City, and she didn't believe the interest claim.
The trio whispered passionately until they reached the place where Esther had picked up the sword.
When they saw the skeleton hanging between the buds, the faces of the three of them couldn't help but feel a little sad, but this emotion quickly disappeared.
Standing side by side a few meters away from the tree, they bowed to the skeleton whose flesh had been almost drained, bowing their heads in silence for a few seconds.
A muttering came from under Pyne's helmet: "He must have sneaked out, not even wearing armor......
Zola's sigh was even heavier: "His injuries haven't even healed, and he just ran out alone, you fool. We'll have to bring this back to the chiefs, and at least we'll have the sword — well, found his sword."
Zola glanced at Esther secretly, and seeing that the lady didn't say anything, she had to temporarily dismiss the idea of letting her return the sword to Spark City, which might not be his turn to say,
Veronica touched the hilt of her sword, lowered her arm and looked at Esther, "Then let's go."
"Aren't you going to bring his bones back?" Esther asked.
Veronica just shook her head, and Zola looked embarrassed, it was clear that they didn't have much to do with the strange plant, "We shouldn't go near those trees, it's written in the town code."
"If we could, at least we should bring the skull back......" Pin muttered again.
In the blink of an eye, a skull fell in front of Pyne's body, and he subconsciously raised his hand to catch it, only to realize that he was holding Gulick's head, but the cloudy digestive juice on it was gone.
Esther clapped her hands and smiled at Veronica, "I just hope Spark City isn't too far away."
