Chapter 53: Akisha's Story

Andy was silent and silent, since Odysseus didn't know about the situation here for the time being, then the matter of arresting the prisoner could be delayed for a while, and it was not the time to discuss this now.

Akisha's chord stared at her for a moment, and finally confirmed that the two of them seemed to have met at the NcR boneyard.

It is a state of the NcR, and the main forces controlling it are the Followers of the Apocalypse, a group of people dedicated to the benefit of the masses, universal education, and the development of various pre-war science and technology.

"I remember, when we went to the boneyard to study, I once met you at an exhibition, and you were explaining about the pre-war Vault, and the example you talked about was Vault 8, right?" The strings found the impression of the other party in their minds.

"Yes.... Well.... I remember you too, you.... Akisha's tongue still felt stiff.

Andy watched speechlessly, but after a series of difficult conversations, String learned what happened to Akisha in the past and why she was alone in such a place now.

Akisha is a follower of the Apocalypse, whose research ambition is the great pre-war sanctuary, and to that end she has been searching for and visiting facilities within the NcR that have been confirmed to exist and may allow her to visit.

Although these facilities are scarce and often involve a large number of them, she was able to successfully complete a study of most of the pre-war shelters in the NcR.

When the NcR launched the Eastward Movement, Akisha responded to the call of the nation to join the Eastward Movement, but unlike most people who had dreams of making a fortune, Akisha wanted to find hidden pre-war shelters that no one had been in since the war.

Before she arrived, she had consulted a wealth of pre-war remnants, including clues to pre-war facilities in the Colorara area.

Akisha began her adventures in the Eastern District of the NcR with the heart of an explorer, but the results were unsuccessful.

In her rambling description, the woman pretended to be a doctor and managed to join a group of treasure hunters, who immediately agreed to join her after she had used some rudimentary medical skills.

These treasure hunters are all opportunists from the NcR, and they are originally professional hunters of pre-war relics, searching for any treasure that may be of value in various poor places.

They could not take advantage of the NcR's eastward expansion to the far east, where their peers had never set foot before, because the recovery of such pre-war relics on the NcR's side was almost unsustainable, and the opportunists had trodden every inch of land they could, taking everything they could to change the caps.

For example, the ghost place in the NcR Solar State that radiates so much that it emits a strong green light for 24 hours still has some precious things left.

But not everyone has the ability to venture into the dangerous Fallout Zone, not to mention the fact that the ghouls there have signed a deal with a company... All of this means that the likelihood of getting rich overnight in their industry is getting lower and lower with time.

So you can understand how excited they were when the Eastward Movement began, like a swarm of flies that smelled carrion, and they were swarming towards the desolate places in the east.

Traveling with these people is actually very dangerous, and a treasure hunter may actually hide multiple identities at once, such as a murderous thug or a desperate man daydreaming of turning over in the midst of desperate debts.

Especially when a group walks in the wilderness and really discovers something of great value, their fragile friendships and relationships may capsize on the spot because of this fierce test, and they all show their true colors in front of huge interests.

Akisha didn't understand this, but there weren't many paths she could choose if she wanted to continue with her vision.

She wasn't a well-known scientist and didn't have any close ties to NcR, and her research was time-consuming and costly, and the rewards she received were so small that she couldn't afford the three- or four-figure long-distance escort that the mercenaries were asking for.

The group left Hoover Dam aimlessly and headed further east, choosing the direction of the route only by virtue of what the Treasure Hunter Captain said

"Powerful Treasure Hunt Perception Sixth Sense". After three days of walking, there were some disputes among the ranks, and all they saw for three days was the desert and all sorts of vicious enemies.

One of the team members was stung by a radscorpion that suddenly burst out of the sand, and another disappeared in an encounter with the natives, and it is almost certain that they were knocked unconscious by the savages and taken into slavery.

"Leave him here, we don't have that much energy to take care of him, and Akisha said that he won't be able to survive for a few days without the antidote." The bearded black man ruthlessly made the decision to abandon a team member, but the decision was not supported at all.

"He's here to protect you, you bastard!" The others had long since lost hope in this journey, and had lost trust in the captain.

"Hurry up if you want to go!" The captain waved his hand in disgust, and in the blink of an eye, there were only three people left in the group.

In addition to the captain and Akisha, there was a guy who wrapped himself tightly, barely spoke, and had a rather withdrawn and eccentric temper.

But he has good marksmanship and a good guy in his hand, which is why he was chosen.

"You're not leaving?" Neither Akisha nor the masked guy moved. The captain shook his head in surprise.

"Huh? - I ask you not to be surprised, what reason do you have to keep going? Akisha hesitated for a moment and gave her reason.

"I.... I just wanted to go further east and explore the pre-war facilities that no one had ever visited. The captain gave her a strange look.

"Ahh I used to have this passion when I was a young self-proclaimed adventurer, but little girl, I'm sure you know what you're about to do, right? I wouldn't be polite if you dragged me back, that's the law of the wasteland, isn't it? The other guy who covered his face with the cloth let out a disdainful laugh, and the voice sounded like an urn, and it seemed that the cloth that covered the whole of the man's head was hiding something like a gas mask.

"I'm not leaving just because I'm curious why you're so confident, the team is falling apart, and you don't seem to be worried about what to do next. Along the way, you don't look like you're looking for a way at all, you're very purposeful..... If you want me to say that you must be convinced that you can find something that attracts you, what do you know? The captain scratched his neck and smiled indifferently.

"Believe it or not, as I said before leaving, I know where we are rich, and if we get there, we will be rich." He said this conclusively, and the three-person team continued to walk for another two days.

But when they got there, things changed unexpectedly. A metal security gate did appear behind a nondescript mound, and the heavy door meant that the space behind the door was designed to be a safe place to withstand shock and radiation after the outbreak of the war.

The problem is that the door is already open, and the dark marks mean that someone has used explosives to blow it open, which is common among treasure hunters.

Behind those tightly closed doors may be treasures worth countless bottle caps, but the door may not have been opened by the baptism of time, and even if the keyhole and terminal are lucky not to rot completely, they often do not have the leisurely slow picking or hacking.

Above the wasteland, people's hearts are unpredictable. You don't know when someone else will come here to fight you, and the quickest way to open the door is to avoid long nights.

The traces of the explosion are still very new, which means that the place was opened very closely. The captain muttered in despair, babbling and cursing a man who sounded like he was a liar, and he must settle accounts with him when he returned.

Akisha looked at the door and was a little excited, this facility was exactly what she wanted to explore, and there was definitely no one to preemptively.... Those who are bent on making money don't necessarily pay attention to the things she cares about.

The team member named Chute had already touched his gun, and he stared at the captain's back with hidden anger, completely unable to accept that his investment and hard work along the way had only been exchanged for nothing.

But.... Just as the situation was about to develop further, a group of people suddenly came out of it.
