Always introspect, repent and know what is lacking

If we want to gain inexhaustible motivation to move forward, we must constantly reflect on ourselves. No matter who you are, you must reflect on yourself and self-reflection at all times after you have done something, only in this way can we do things better. If you can't reflect on your mistakes in time, you will only make mistakes and go down a path of no return.

The ancients said, "If a man is not a sage, who can be without fault?" "We're all at fault, it's natural. The crux of the matter is how we deal with our own faults.

Generally speaking, after we make mistakes, we usually react in the following two ways: one is to refuse to admit our mistakes, shirk our responsibilities, and try our best to defend ourselves; The second is to admit mistakes frankly and bear whatever responsibility should be assumed. As for which behavior is better, we know by heart. But sadly, we're seeing more of the former. Yes, there are "benefits" to doing that in a sense – if you get away with it, you don't have to face the consequences; Even if you have to bear it, you have already pulled someone else into the water, the responsibility has been dispersed, and the pressure is much less. If this is the case, then why don't the wise men advocate this kind of behavior? It is because its "disadvantages" obviously outweigh the "pros".

Let's break it down briefly. If you make a big mistake, then there must be a lot of people who know, how can you hide it? How do you argue? The facts are there, and you will know that the more you pick it out, the more people feel that you are not responsible, the more you quibble, the more people feel that it is "there is no silver three hundred taels here", it is difficult for you to shirk the responsibility not to say, but it will make more and more people look down on you, kill two birds with one stone, will smart people do this?

If you made a small mistake, is there any need to shirk it? It's like a joke - "You can't afford a big thing, what else can you afford?" "In the final analysis, the consequences you bear are nothing more than a small punishment, or you can't even talk about punishment at all, if you bury the trust of others in you, do you think it's worth it?

Furthermore, we ignore the responsibility for making mistakes, and we cannot afford to say that "death and non-confession" has a powerful damage to our own image. Because no matter how good your eloquence is and how clever you are, you will inevitably get comments such as "dare to do it" in exchange for avoiding mistakes. In this way, we are likely to lose the most important thing in life - popularity, in this society, without popularity, what do you want to do?

Further, if avoiding mistakes becomes a habit for you, then you will forever lose the opportunity to face your mistakes, solve problems, and develop problem-solving skills. Therefore, not admitting mistakes can do more harm than good!

But why do some of us, who usually seem quite smart, always make such low-level mistakes? Or is the "ego" at work! It is self-consciousness that induces us to try to cover up our mistakes, even to see what is wrong as right. Because of this, many times we know that we are wrong, but we are willing to give up on ourselves, or we only admit our mistakes verbally, but we cannot introspectively defend ourselves. There are also times when we know that we are wrong and can blame ourselves, but we just can't make up our minds to correct them. No wonder Sage Kong sighed: "Forget it! I have never seen a person who can see his own faults and reproach himself in his heart! "The words of Confucius are simple, but the meaning is profound. Even sages will have their experiences, but it is difficult to know them, and it is even more difficult to know them and blame themselves. Knowing that you can change, you can't if you are not wise and brave.

But you can't say that it's hard to do, so you don't do it, or that someone can't do it, and you follow the crowd. If you don't want to live too numb and mediocre, you always have to be a little conscious. This enlightenment is naturally indispensable for the recognition of one's own mistakes, repentance, and self-examination. Because the world we walk in is too flashy and complicated, our original pure nature will be charmed by the hustle and bustle if we are not careful, causing us to sink deeper and deeper into the swamp of mistakes. The advantage of repentance and self-reflection is that it can make us know the gains and losses, weigh the pros and cons, and know the advance and retreat. To put it mildly, the reason why those friends who have a mediocre or even difficult life are so bad is often because they do not know their own faults, lack the spirit of remorse and self-reflection, or they never know remorse and self-reflection.

Life is chaotic and tedious, between intentional and unintentional, we don't know how many things we have done wrong, how many things we have said wrong, how many evil thoughts we have moved, but many times we really don't realize it. As long as you wash it with the pure water of repentance, you will be able to keep your mind free of defilement and wrong views, and make your life meaningful.

Repentance is a very important way to re-recognize and evaluate oneself, to re-establish oneself and to settle oneself. Repentance means "admitting mistakes", but it is not enough to admit them, we also have to take responsibility for our mistakes and be prepared to accept all the consequences of this mistake, which is the meaning of repentance.

If people want to repent, the most important thing is to know how to introspect. Confucius said, "I have three provinces in my day." Socrates also said, "A life without scrutiny and introspection is not worth living." If we could reflect on ourselves at any time and place, as these two sages did, then perhaps we wouldn't have to repent at all.

Self-reflection, to put it in layman's terms, is the vigilance after self-blame, which is a kind of understanding after recognizing mistakes, but also a kind of consciousness after thinking, and an extension of repentance in action. If you don't know how to introspect, then you still don't know what is right or wrong in the past. Now you are on the edge of a precipice and do not know how to pull your horse. Do you say you're confused? You say that such a life can not be mediocre?! How can you not be stuck?!
