5. Cherish what you've gotten

People often like the imaginary in dreams, constantly chasing some kind of unreality, and ignoring everything around them; In fact, the truest life and the greatest happiness are often all around us, and most people don't know it.

A young man in his early 20s hurried down the road, oblivious to the scenery and passers-by.

A man stopped him and asked, "Young man, why are you in such a hurry?" ”

The young man did not look back, but ran forward quickly, and only threw a general sentence: "Don't stop me, I am seeking happiness!" ”

20 years have passed in a blink of an eye, and the young man has become middle-aged, and he is still galloping on the road of life.

Another man stopped him: "Hey, man, what are you up to?" ”

"Don't stop me, I'm seeking happiness." The young man, who had turned into a middle-aged man, still replied in a hurry.

Another 20 years have passed, and this middle-aged man has become a haggard, old-eyed old man, still struggling to move forward on the road.

A man stopped him: "Old man, are you still looking for your happiness?" ”

"yes." He replied anxiously and helplessly.

When the old man finished answering this man's question, he casually glanced back, and he was startled, and a line of tears rolled down.

It turned out that the person who just asked him the question was the god of happiness. He had searched for it all his life, but the god of happiness was actually next to him.

When I was young, I didn't know what happiness was and what life was, I always thought that happiness was elsewhere and others were my destination, I always looked forward to a different life elsewhere, and I always thought that the unknown life must be good, so I kept pursuing, until one day I suddenly found that happiness was here, at this time. Enjoying one's own eating, drinking, pulling, sleeping, and enjoying all kinds of sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy is the true meaning of life.

Happiness is not elsewhere, happiness is all around you, in the monotonous work day after day, in the light tea and light rice of three meals a day.

A philosopher once said, "I have traveled all over the earth in search of happiness." I worked tirelessly day and night to find happiness. Once, when I had completely lost hope of finding it, a voice within me said to me, "This happiness is in you." I listened to the voice and found true and unwavering happiness. Only when we regard everything as happy and good can we be truly happy and good. Therefore, one can only expect what is consistent with common happiness. Whoever works for this purpose will win happiness for himself. According to Buddhist teachings, people are happy if they don't call anything their own except their souls.

We are all looking for the messenger of happiness, where is she? She's right there with us.

"The source of true happiness is within us, and for a person who is good at understanding happiness, others cannot make him truly ruined." So said Rousseau.

A young woman came home and confided in her mother that the marriage was bad, that her husband had neither a lot of money nor a good job, and that life was always monotonous and boring. Mother smiled and asked, "Do you spend more time together?" The daughter said, too much. Mother said, back then, when your father went to war, what I looked forward to every day was that he could return from the battlefield as soon as possible and stay with him all day, but unfortunately-

He died in a battle and never came back, and I envy you for being able to get along day and night. The old tears of the mother's vicissitudes fell one by one, and gradually, the daughter seemed to understand something.

We are pursuing happiness, and happiness is always with us. It's just that many times, we are in the mountains of happiness, and we always see the happy scenery of others from different angles near and far, and often do not carefully feel the happy world we have.

If life is a long journey, how much scenery will you lose by blindly searching for the end?

In fact, happiness is a symbol, a kind of self-feeling, the key is how to grasp this symbol and feeling, which requires us to have our own happiness reference standard.

I once saw such an interesting little text in a magazine, and if you compare it with the numbers listed in the article, you will find that you are so happy that you are living in heaven:

If the population of the various ethnic groups in the world were to be calculated in proportion to a village of 100 people, then the village would have: 57 Asians; 21 Europeans; 14 Americans (including Latin Americans); eight Africans; 52 women and 48 men; 30 whites and 70 non-whites; 30 Christians and 70 non-Christians; 89 heterosexuals and 11 homosexuals; Six of them own eighty-nine percent of the village's wealth, and all six of them are from the United States; 80 people are in poor housing conditions; 70 were illiterate; 50 were malnourished; One person is dying; One person is being born; One person owns a computer; One person has a university diploma.

If we see the world in this way, patience and understanding become more obvious.

Please also keep the following information in mind:

If you woke up this morning in good health and without disease, you were luckier than millions of other people who couldn't even see the sun next week;

If you have never tried the dangers of war, the loneliness of prison, the torment of torture and the taste of hunger, you are in a better position than the other half billion;

If you can come and go in and out of a church or temple without any danger of being intimidated, brutalized, or killed, then you are more fortunate than the other 3 billion people;

If you have food in your fridge, clothes to wear, a room to live in, and a bed to sleep in, you are richer than 75 percent of the people in the world.

If you have money in the bank, a ticket in your wallet, and change in your box, then you are among the eight luckiest people in the world;

If you have both parents, are not divorced, and meet all of the above conditions, then you are indeed the kind of person who is very rare on earth.

In fact, happiness is a kind of self-feeling, which is not necessarily related to others and all material conditions. If you are thirsty, water is happiness; If you are tired, the bed is happiness. Cherish what you have! A simple life is your greatest happiness.
