Chapter 6: The Land Is Dry, But My Mood Is High

I don't understand what we're looking at.

My beautiful butterfly friend and I stood in the bushes, staring out at the dry grass.

It is yellow. Very good.

There's something in the yellow grass. It's something I don't understand.

- It reminds me of her trolley. But it doesn't move.

I turned my head to look into her wary eyes, then back at the non-cart.

Someone came out of it and came to the meadow. We bowed our heads and hid in the bushes.

I don't like it in the bushes. The sun can't find me here.

Something in the meadow looks like a cave, but if it's a horse-drawn carriage.

ca

t-cave。

How unusual.

We watched as one of its kind roamed the grasslands, picking many dry thorns and dead bushes around its shelter. Foragers, males, old, gray-haired.

I didn't see any other sunflowers.

My friend is indecisive. I could see it in her face, I could see it in the tension in her body.

- Relax. The sun is out. It was a good day. Very good.

My butterfly friend made a decision, then turned away, quietly hiding back in the wasteland we came from. Apparently, she had decided that it was best not to come into contact with her own kind.

I understand.

I don't like to talk either.

I'm a sunflower after all.

We went back to the other side of the bush and continued on our way, although I didn't know where we went. But it's a huge and beautiful world, so I don't really care.

-[Sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you'll die within {8} hours

This is unusual.

The sun glowed intensely and felt hotter than ever. I find it pleasant, but at the same time unfortunate.

I'm thirsty.

If you can't find water, you'll die within {4} hours

We've been walking for a while.

She looked at the word "wood" that appeared next to me and frowned. "I'm sorry," she said in a strange way. "I don't think there's water here either."

My radiant friend knelt down, put me aside, and dug into the ground to find some moisture for both of us.

But it's all dry. There is almost no shade here, and the sun is so bright and hot.

The soil is dry like bones.

How unfortunate.

She shook her head, picked me up, and we both moved on.

-[Sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you'll die within {3} hours

My petals are sad.

My roots are sad.

My leaves are sad.

I'm calm.

- But sad.

I want to drink some water.

Looking at my friend, I feel like she feels the same way.

But there is no water to be seen anywhere.

We are surrounded by a grassland, plain, barren. The grass was dry and yellow, stretching as far as I could see.

Wow.

I never knew there was so much grass. The yellow color is also beautiful.

It reminds me of the sun.

However, the sun is hot today.

I spread out the leaves and tried not to heat myself. But it only meant that I was touched by more generosity from the sun.

- A puzzle.

I'm a lost sunflower.

-[Sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you'll die within {2} hours

My friend, although she herself struggles with warmth, seems a little crazy, although I don't understand why.

Let's calm down.

Instead of listening to me, she clung to me and ran at a strange pace between walking and tepid sprints. Her eyes looked around, but she couldn't see anything but more withered yellow grass.

I wonder what life is like for grass?

That must be good.

They can sit in the sun all day long.

I guess it can be unpleasant to be stepped on, though.

Oh.

"Don't worry, we'll figure it out," she said in what I thought was a comforting tone.

Although I don't know why she did it.

After all, everything is fine. The sun was shining, we saw the world and its riches, we ate the fruits, we sat in the sun, we saw the forest, we drank the water from the caves.

We have been blessed like no other.

So I'm calm.

If the sun decides to take me, what right do I have to argue?

I'm a sunflower after all.

Life is interesting.

-[Sunflower]-

If you can't find water, you'll die within 30 minutes

We were in the bushes. The two of us stared at the familiar bushes.

The naughtiest sun played tricks on us. Despite all the distances we had walked, we returned to where we started; In the grove outside the car cave.

However, something has changed.

The two of us peered out from our secret spot and looked at the already destroyed carriage hole. It seems that the non-birds have been chasing us, and it seems that they have discovered this place and left traces of their fire.

There were no wagons on the hay, now it's like a gray place. The fire burned through it, the flames devouring its bones, spreading to the dead grass around it.

When the fire was hungry, it burned more and more, and spread out in all directions, like a snake out of its den.

- I love snakes. They make funny noises, they eat rats, who want to steal my precious seeds.

Something crackled next to us, and we turned away from the ruins. She walked around some of the trees, and we saw something there, her kind, the one who lived here.

His face is gray, but his body is covered in red.

It's beautiful. It reminds me of that red rock. It reminds me of my friend's face, which turned red when she stoned those non-birds.

- What a precious memory.

I was so lucky to survive. Life has been so lucky for me.

Wow.

My beautiful friend put me in the thirsty dirt and walked over to the creature that resembled her, but was older and male.

A suitor?

I didn't know you were ready for such a stage of life, friend. But I think you're an adult by now.

How embarrassing.

I looked away. It's just the bare minimum of courtesy. If that bee finds me again, I don't want her to look at it.

But to be honest, I wasn't ready myself. Maybe I'll die before pollination?

Oh. It's good.

There was a disgusting noise coming from behind me. I think it's a law of nature.

However, I'm a weak-willed sunflower, so I had to look back.

She pressed herself against him, her stump beneath his head, in stark contrast to his red body, which turned a strange purple.

What a beautiful display of colors. It's magical.

It reminds me of a snake.

Maybe I'm mistaken?

After all, butterflies can fly. But we won't fly. We're on the ground.

So, maybe my friend can't be a butterfly after all? Maybe she's actually a snake?

I looked at the man in that color, his body was red, his face was purple, and his head was gray. Are they snakes? She contracted his airway like a snake biting a mouse.

Forgive me, my snake friend, I don't know the truth.

I didn't know you were a beautiful and deadly snake.

The male penguin fell silent. He's dead.

Hunting.

I must apologize. I thought you had found a mate. Maybe I'm being too inconsiderate to think so?

My beautiful, serpentine friend stood up and hissed like a snake, and she wiped her face with her stump before coming over and picking me up.

Without saying a word, she placed me on top of his corpse, then sat down with her back against an old dry tree, and turned to look at the rapidly growing fire in the distance.

Yes.

Moisture content.

My roots were deep in his flesh. The weather was warm. The weather was humid. There are minerals here. Although I prefer soil, I think it's better than death.

Although it is only possible.

I don't care about death, but if there's more life to see, more experiences to go through, then I guess I have to allow myself to be nourished by this sub-optimal thing.

After all, my snake friend has been hunting me down.

It's rude to say "no".

- If nothing else, I am a well-mannered sunflower.

I drank the red water greedily. It is strong and has a metallic smell.

My friend breathed a sigh of relief and wiped her face, I don't know why she looked so sad.

After all, it was a new experience for both of us.

What a day.
