Of course, these are some of the contents of the path, but they are not the whole of the path, or even the most important part of the path.

Cultivating the Tao, we must first clarify a few concepts, that is, the cultivation of the Tao is actually a way of life first, and then the specific content of the Path.

It can be said that everyone can cultivate the Tao, and everything can be cultivated.

First of all, what is the purpose of our cultivation?

To sum it up, it is four words, that is, long-term happiness.

That is to say, what we pursue in our cultivation is to grow and be happy.

This is something that Buddhists and Taoists pursue differently. Buddhists pursue the Elysium, which is what they often say, going to the Western Heaven Elysium, also known as the Bliss of Rebirth.

They believe that the human world is suffering, and that if one wants to go to the world of bliss, one must get rid of the sea of suffering in the human world, get rid of the six realms of reincarnation, and finally go to a bright and pure world, which is the existence of ultimate nirvana.

Therefore, Buddhism is actually ultimately pursuing a state of extinction, that is, dying and not living.

At the same time, they also believe that the human body is a stinky skin, a shackling being, and that the body is ultimately to be abandoned.

This is the most fundamental difference between Buddhism and Taoism.

Buddhism pursues eternal death without life, while Taoism pursues eternal life without death.

Buddhism pursues the world of bliss, while Taoism pursues the state of eternal happiness, the happiness of life.

So what is Changle? What is the joy of life?

Many people say that cultivating the Tao is to become an immortal, so what is an immortal?

There are several kinds of immortals, there are human immortals, there are earth immortals, there are heavenly immortals, and there are immortals.

The avenue is not empty, it is not empty. Lao Tzu said, nameless, the beginning of heaven and earth, famous, the mother of all things. Nameless and famous, in fact, are the same thing.

For example, if a person has attained success in his cultivation and has ascended to the world, where has he gone after he has ascended? What are you doing?

Is it just floating in the void of the universe? Isn't that boring too?

And what does he eat? What can be done?

In fact, the world of immortals is not as everyone imagines, immortals are floating in the sky, not eating, drinking or moving.

Immortals also have to eat.

And the immortal is not absolutely free, he is also subject to the constraints of the Great Dao.

In other words, the immortal is not ethereal, he is also to be ethereal. And this life, for the immortals, is the process of the joy of life.

There are many levels in this world, the human world is one layer, and the fairy world is also one layer.

In other words, the difference between immortals and humans is only the difference of levels.

Zhuangzi has a saying, called Chitose misanthropy, go to the immortals.

What does that mean? That is to say, a person has been in the world for thousands of years, and he feels that the world is no longer interesting, so he does not stay in the world, but goes to other places to continue traveling.

Is there also joy in the world? Of course, there are, and the world is also a level that can be traveled.

Therefore, the gods will also have Sifan, that is, they want to travel in the world.

After some people have achieved cultivation, if they are not world-weary, then they will continue to travel in the world, without worries and sorrows, and can be at ease in the world.

Last time, someone said that since you can live forever if you are successful in cultivation, why don't you keep being an emperor? This is from the eyes of ordinary people, maybe I think it's good to be an emperor, but if you really keep being an emperor, won't you get tired of it? For the immortals, what is the good of being an emperor?

This is actually the attitude towards people's desires, everyone will have desires, so how to deal with desires? Is it to be abstinent? No, Taoism says that people should be disgusted.

The so-called boredom is the process of self-elimination of desire.

When a person is very hungry, he will think that the steamed buns are delicious, and when he is full, he will not want to eat them. And if a person is not hungry all the time, then he will naturally have no reaction when he sees steamed buns, and he will not want to eat them.

This is the process of disgust.

Before Lu Zu became enlightened, he had been taking exams, but he failed to do so, and then after a dream, he saw through the world, and he had no interest in being an official, which was also a process of disgust.

Does that mean that you are not interested in anything? What about passivity and inaction? Of course not.

That's what it means to be happy, it's just that there's no fun in this level, and there are other levels to travel.

It's like a child who may like certain toys very much, but when you grow up, you think these toys are not fun, and when you become an adult, there will be other fun things and things.

In fact, whether it is for people or for immortals, what they pursue is a process of long-term happiness.

What is the pursuit of this life for man? It's nothing more than two things, one is longevity, which is longevity and no disease for people, and the other is fun. If a person can live a long and healthy life, and at the same time find the world very interesting, then he can also be called an earthly immortal?

Li Hongzhang has a couplet:

Shanglian: Xiang Qingfu is not an official, as long as he has money, rice, and poetry and books in his belly, he is the prime minister of the mountain.

Downlink: Pray for longevity without taking medicine, but I hope that there is no disease, no worries, no creditors, and can be a god on the ground.

That's what I'm saying.

I want to tell you this to tell you a truth, that is, immortals are not outside the sky, immortals are originally made by mortals, and they can be immortals at every level.

This is also another idea of the whole person and the immortal.

Of course, with the improvement of your own cultivation, when you don't want to be a human immortal, you can go to be an earth immortal, a heavenly immortal, and an immortal, which is a process of continuous improvement of the level.

So no matter what kind of immortal you are, no matter what level you are at, what is the difference between immortals and mortals? It is to see whether you can be free and not be burdened by the world, that is, to see whether your heart has reached the level of the Tao and whether what you are doing is in line with the Tao.

Therefore, the cultivation of the Tao is not about what you are doing or where you are, but the key is in your heart, and the first thing in cultivating the Tao is to cultivate the mind.

Meditation and practice is the way of cultivation, carrying water and chopping wood, lighting a fire and cooking, so why not the way of cultivation?
