Chapter 3: Exploration

Steve found some big revelations. The first one is simple and seems to be nothing more than some quality of life that the system brings. For example, being able to customize his window to some extent, deciding how his skills are sorted or what his status displays. At the moment, he doesn't really care about skill classifications, as he has so few skill classifications, although he does add skill points and gold to the bottom of the status table.

Now, the second thing he discovered was a completely different beast. He can obviously get these statistics through physical or mental training. But he already has some ideas.

Raw muscle represents strength, general health represents vitality, endurance represents agility, and simple speed or flexibility represents agility. Now, psychometric statistics are harder to figure out. He thinks it might just be learning for the intellect and pushing himself forward when his stamina runs out of willpower.

But there are still problems in training. Physical training requires movement and exercise. These require stamina, and he doesn't have enough stamina right now, so it's basically impossible. As for spiritual cultivation, he still has to wait and see. He didn't have any resources, so he couldn't learn completely from books, and meditation was basically his only option

For example, the Store allows him to buy another slot for 1000 gold, which is already good, but there is also the option to spend 500 skill points, or 30 ability points. For now, these goals seem far away, and the points can be put to better use, so he decides to try and save up gold for them.

His Sp has also recovered somewhat. With his stomach full, he doesn't really want to go hunting, so he has to figure out how to spend the rest of his waking hours. It really didn't take long to make this decision. Evaluate his remaining skills, of course, and then try to improve your intelligence to get more mana!

[: A skill to reduce the noise emitted by the user.] The higher its level, the quieter the user. ]

[:A skill that increases the user's speed explosively.] The percentile of the total SP is consumed, not the set amount. ]

These two skills are definitely very useful skills. With this, he can hunt on his own and, if necessary, escape from predators. Well, that's good news. Now, move on to the next step.

He had to rest to recover Hp, Sp, and Mp, though once his Mp returned, he spent them further reinforcing his little logs. So, what else can he do to hopefully improve his stats? Meditate. He doesn't have real resources here other than a little space, so reading is impossible, and it seems a bit silly to use moral dilemmas to improve wisdom, so he chooses meditation instead.

It's a pity that he never meditated, so everything had to be done step by step. Hopefully, the time he spends staring at a screen at work will help here.

So, first get into a position that suits it. As a kitten, he can't sit completely cross-legged, so now he can only lie as comfortably as possible.

Then, adjust your breathing. Breathe deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. In and out. Then, he should try to feel the world around him more clearly......

[Absorb the magic around you.] 】

[Gain 1 XP]

A message crept through his head, though he could barely hear it now. It was a feeling that was too different from anything he had ever felt in his life. It was as if a gentle wind was blowing through his skin, enveloping him, slowly passing through his shell, into his body, and then calming down, condensing into a puddle of water, and adding a small droplet.

[Gain 1 XP]

The announcement went off again, this time quieter than the last time. It's incredible, far more incredible than any physical strength. He could feel the mana around him, and he could feel it wrapping around his blanket, cool and warm.

He could feel how energetic it was, and the electric sensation made every hair on his skin stand on end, and he opened his eyes.

[Gain 1 XP]

[Max MP increased by 1.] ]

Wow. It's fantastic. Oh, my God. Wow, just...... Wow. Damn it. This feeling is more real than any adrenaline rush. More thrilling than a roller coaster, more satisfying than cake. Status?

MP:2/5

His max Mp did increase by 1. It's another interesting feeling. He doesn't play many role-playing games, but when they actually describe him instead of the character, see those numbers go up? Crazy.

[Absorb the magic around you.] 】

[Gain 1 XP]

[Max MP increased by 1.] ]

[MP is full.] Unable to absorb more mana. ]

[Skills are acquired through specific actions.] ]

So he ended up with 6 Max MP and a new skill.

In any case, if he compares his current mana to his starting mana, his upper limit is increased by about half. Honestly, it feels a little crazy, but he certainly doesn't complain. Now, how about this new skill?

[: This skill increases MP regeneration rate.] When actively used, it further increases the regeneration rate and gains more mastery. ]

Master? What about the new terminology?

[Mastery: Acquired when using a skill.] It helps to increase the level of that skill. ]

So it's essentially skill experience. Interesting. Definitely a very useful skill, so he should try to upgrade it, and luckily, he already knows how to spend his MP. It's time to carve another rune!

Begin to carve wood on the reverse side of the previous rune, slowly and delicately carving out each line. He decided to use low-level runes anyway, as high-level runes were too easy to fail. With this, there is hardly that much risk, and the probability of failure is about 20%,

Well, half guess, half feeling he gets from the skill. Sure enough, after a while, he finished speaking, and the notice rang.

[Successfully carved a lower-level strengthening rune.] Gain: 10 XP. ]

[Upgrade!] ]

Yes? Another upgrade? Damn good news! Oh, yes! Status!

What an improvement. It may not have achieved the effect of an overall upgrade, but his intelligence has doubled only from the level itself. He still has three skill points, and one hundred skill points to spend. In addition to this, he was finally completely reborn. He's getting better!

Now that he's seeing his stats improve, he's slowly getting into it. This log will be the beginning of everything, the beginning of his empire!

The cat part of him certainly thinks this should be his empire!

And just like that, a kitten meows frantically while clutching at the inside of a dead old tree.

It is indeed threatening.

Now he will use the skill as soon as possible to create a safe resting place for himself, and once this is established, he will manually expand his mana pool and use it for additional runes or other skills. Shortly after completing the third rune, he lay down again to meditate, but when he was about to use the skill, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

When he opened his eyes again, it was late afternoon, and the sun had covered about two-thirds of the sky. Although, of course, he could not tell this from the logs. No, his attention was occupied by the information in front of him.

[Main quest: "Survive the first day!"] Completely. You have earned: 2 Ability Points, 50 Skill Points, 50 XP]

Rewards: 10 Ability Points, 300 Skill Points, 500 XP Points, 1000 Gold. ]

[Side Quest: "Reach Level 5!] Add.

Rewards: 100 skill points, 100 gold. ]

He has apparently completed and received a new task. He already knew that there were random,

By completing quests, he can earn extra points and coins. Obviously, the main quest even has smaller missions designed to achieve the ultimate goal.

[Quests: These are quests that will give an individual a reward when completed.] Some can be rejected, others must be done. ]

That's all. They are tasks, which is fairly basic information. It's almost as basic as his evaluation of things like runes or trees. It has an absolutely amazing ability to spit out information, such as:

[Tree: A tree.] ]

or

[Runes: Enhanced Runes.] ]

Something truly incredible is out there. It's basically useless to identify things outside of the interface, and now even things inside the system are not very reliable. He sighed softly. While it was unfortunate, he couldn't change it completely. On top of that, his stomach growled. Well, he can't eat the wood completely, it's time to get out.

In fact, the afternoon sun on the fur feels very comfortable. He closed his eyes, stretched as best he could, and then opened them and stared at the forest. Today the situation is somewhat different. It looks a little more energetic. The grass looked a little brighter, and the air was filled with the buzzing of insects.

A butterfly perched on a tree a few steps away from him.

When he looked around on the floor, he could see an ant colony not far from here, carrying some of the leaves and needles from the tree. Then, looking a little further afield, he could even see a deer, although that might not be what he wanted to hunt. No, what he needs is prey that he can actually catch, preferably rats, although he will also catch things like moles.

After walking for a short time, he spotted a mouse scurrying around the forest floor, and it took less time to jump on it once he found it.

[Killed a mouse.] Gain: 5 XP, 1 gold. ]

After the first mouse, Steve decides to hunt down the second rat so that he has the food for today. Wish. If enough, he could concentrate on carving runes all day long, making his current home a little stronger.

The second mouse took a little longer and tried a few times, but after a while he succeeded.

[Killed a mouse.] Gain: 5 XP, 1 gold. ]

[Upgrade!] ]

What? Upgraded? The experience of an exploration journey, then, may have brought him very close to that goal.

Very satisfying. With the improvement of physical attributes, I am growing. Overall, it's good to improve his stats.

Once he had made his decision, he placed the mouse in his memory slot and set out to head to the small pond he had found. Now that the bear drank it, he was almost halfway from the point of view of the drinkability of water. Fortunately, this time the bear was not nearby, so he quickly ran to the lake, drank until he was no longer thirsty, and then returned to the log.

For the first time since his rebirth, he was really looking forward to something. Before you know it, carving runes has become a bit of fun. He's happy to know that he's created something solid and tangible, and that's improving. At least for him, it's a joy to make a little impact on the world.

So, after returning home, he began to carve two more rudimentary runes. This was actually his first failure, with a total of 7 successes and 1 failure. Oh well, not bad, retrying the runes didn't kill him, but unfortunately he only got half the experience. Anyway, meditate now.

[Upgraded!] ]

His mana gathering speed seemed to have increased a little more. When he opened his eyes again after adding MP, he understood why. Although the effect is not great, the upgrade of "Meditation" is still great. "More mana, more runes",

After the meditation was over, he carved two more runes, and it worked, at which point another notification appeared.

[Successfully carved a lower-level strengthening rune.] Gain: 10 XP]

[Upgraded!] ]

Awesome! As the MP runs out, Steve immediately resumes meditating.

In the evening, after repeating the process a few times, he drew six more runes on the wall. They should be strong by now, right? Well, he'll go and see it when it rains, anyway.

Now, he thought the night was over, when he heard a loud bang outside his little house and a quest popped up.

[Random Mission: "Kill the Giant Spider!"] Add. Rewards: 20 XP, 50 gold. Accept? ]

If he doesn't fight, he'll have to give his wood to this eight-legged bastard. When pigs fly. But to take down a spider about his size, he needed to be taken by surprise, so he took a few deep breaths.

The spider began to move its furry legs before the log opened. His thought process is fairly simple. The spider has eight eyes and eight legs on the front. It also has its webbing. But none of that really gets to his back, does it? So, all he needed to do was step on the spider from above and kill it. Luckily, it's huge. If it was small, he would be more afraid. I don't know where those little guys are hiding!

Steve exited the log from the other end, backwards without making a sound, and jumped onto the log. From the ground, even the lowest branches would never be reachable. After some sneaking, he pounced.

He uses a jump, landing right on the spider's back and digging his claws deep into it. Before the spider could begin to shake himself or try to shake him off, he was cut open with two long wounds. He clenched it for a moment, but quickly let go, and when the spider slipped down, his claws left a wound on the spider's back.

Steve landed heavily on the forest floor, but quickly regained his position. His ribs weren't too excited because they had just hit the floor, but he endured it anyway. When the eyes of the eight spiders were all focused on him, he knew he didn't stand a chance in a simple power duel, so he chose the path that really suited someone like him: escape.

Before the spider could attack him with his webs, he turned and rushed away at full speed. His strength may not be strong, but he is certainly faster, and he is wounded, and it may not be long before he bleeds.

Now, Steve may be an idiot, but he's not stupid. After escaping, he got closer again to check the spider's location. Sure enough, it didn't move very far. It was a little further up the hill and there were few trees around, so it was impossible to be ambushed. Pus was oozing from the wound on its back, but it didn't seem to be dying anytime soon.

He must avoid spider silk and fangs at all costs. If he's tied up or bitten, he's going to die, which isn't cool. Then again, what is his weapon? His claws can't throw anything at it, so his only option is melee. If he approaches it from the side, it turns, if he approaches from behind, he will have to deal with its webbing, but it will be hidden, and from the front he will have to deal with its fangs. So his only options are above and behind,

Now, he's standing a little below the spider. Luckily, most of it has its back to the mountain, and it might be able to sneak into it again. He slowly circled around it, relying on instinct and bewilderment, until he reached his destination. The back of the spider.

[Skills are acquired through specific actions.] ]

Steve immediately used the skill, and his steps became quieter. Later he would spend his time, and now he focused on getting close to the spider and jumping on its back. This time, he jumped farther and plunged his claws into the spider's eyes.

The spider was now running fast along the forest floor, but it didn't shake him off. Now that it was blind, he was able to hold on and dig with his claws until it became weak.

[Kill a giant spider.] Gain: 100 XP, 50 gold, Spider Venom (consumable). ]

[Random Quest "Kill the Giant Spider."] Totally! You have earned: 20 XP, 50 Coins. ]

[Upgrade!] ]

After receiving the upgrade message, I immediately felt much more refreshed than before.

[Side Quest" Reach Level 5!] Completely. You have earned: 100 Skill Points, 100 Coins. ]

[Side quest "Build a small territory!] Add. Rewards: 100 XP, 50 gold. ]

Well, be strong! It's time to go home and see the rewards.

He swapped the rat carcasses in his inventory for vials, opting for much less dangerous items to tow. Then, he took it in his mouth and walked back to the log.

The sun was up, and Steve was exhausted. Of course, the battle wasn't intense, but as he pressed down his disgust, he felt his human part rebelling in his mind. Instead, he just threw himself on the log and closed his eyes.
