Chapter 25. The Road to Collecting Books
Although my reading journey can barely be traced back to more than 1 year old, the road to collecting books should have started after I bought villain books when I was a child.
As the number of villain books slowly increased, I slowly began to have the awareness of collecting books.
At that time, the channel for buying books was relatively simple, and they could only be bought at Xinhua Bookstore, and later two stores with book counters were added, which were still mainly state-run stores.
One by one, it slowly increased to two wooden bookcases, one of which I remember was of natural wood and one of which was light green.
At that time, there were no bookshelves, but after buying and reading, they locked them in the bookcase.
Slowly, I got to the scale of about 600 books even with the addition of the storytelling! It has now grown to 16 bookcases and more than 13,000 double-packs.
Because I know what the concept of more than 13,000 books is, I am extremely dissatisfied with the false propaganda that a bookshelf can hold 1,000 books published by advertisers in WeChat recently, and I have also made provocative speeches under other people's WeChat, which is still not mature enough.
But at least being able to intuitively know where the main problem of this scam is is also an ability, especially in mathematics, which gives a certain response to the fact that my wife and daughter always mistakenly think that I am not good at mathematics as a liberal arts physiology.
Naturally, 13,000 books is a lot. Now I sometimes stand in front of the bookshelf and wonder why I bought so many books!
I like to be truth-seeking, so I thought about it for a while.
First of all, look at the source.
The first is because I like to buy it myself. Most of my books come to me in this way, because I have loved reading since I was a child, and I always have to find ways to buy books I like. This is the same as friends who like to drink are willing to buy good wine, and beautiful women who like new clothes buy new clothes.
To each his own!
The second is sent by a friend. Many of my friends know that I like books, so when they buy heavy books or books they don't want to keep after reading them, they will basically ask me as soon as possible or give them to me directly in a bag. There are many good books here, such as the beauty of Hongwei gave me three bags of books at once, such as the "Anthology of Wang Anyi" sent to me by Minghui beauty, such as "The Emperor Kangxi" by Mr. Yan Chongnian, Liu Zhixia's "Railway Guerrilla", etc., such as "Selected Paintings of Qi Baishi" given to me by Dongyang Beauty, and Lu Xun's prose collection (I still clearly remember 13 copies) published by the People's Literature Publishing House that Xue Zhizhi sent me...... There is no need to thank Tian Jijiang.
My mother's classmate, Aunt Yu Qin, mailed me two large boxes of her deceased father's books, which I cherished in the bookshelf. At that time, I didn't express my gratitude immediately because of the poor communication, but as a Scorpio, I will never forget the benefits that others have given me, and I passed down these books from her father without interruption...... As a book lover, I deeply understand this meaning.
The third is what others don't want. Although this source is slightly similar to the second type, both of which were eliminated by others, but unlike the second type of books given to me by friends, one was given to me by others on their own initiative, and the other was picked up by me from the pile of books that others wanted to throw away; One is something I need to be thankful for and keep in mind, and one is something I don't need to thank!
Don't think that the books that others have eliminated are bad, in fact, there are a lot of pretty good books in it.
It's a really good book.
Secondly, from the point of view of channels.
The favorite is still the used bookstall . Everywhere I go, the first place I go to is the second-hand book stall.
A lot of people don't understand that it's a complex. When the used bookstalls slowly disappear with the urban planning, the faint sadness cannot be described in words. I have worked in "Goodbye Liuli Factory, Goodbye Liuli Factory!" The article reads:
When I came to Liulichang for the fourth time, if the big Rong Bao Zhai had a period of time only I was a customer, quiet and depressed, just like the Baoguo Temple that I made a special trip to, the very prosperous book market has been planned into a hut by an unknown mentally handicapped, and the busy store became a parking lot, and it has long lost its popularity at that time. I was the only customer in the huts of a dozen small cubicles. The rent of 250,000 yuan (paid once every five years) has made the books here sky-high.
Also selling sky-high books is Pan Jiayuan.
Dozens of casual villain books (many very ordinary ones with untidy covers or missing back covers) are 1,000 yuan!
The holy place in my heart collapsed.
The reason why Liulichang became a holy place in my heart was not because of a set of beautifully printed "Rong Bao Zhai" albums, not because I knew about Panjiayuan and No. 32 Beizongbu Hutong here, nor because I bought a large number of stamps, villain books and art book supplies from here.
None of this is fundamental.
The fundamental reason is that there were a large number of resources that we in remote towns did not have, and those of us in remote towns did not see at all, as well as the cultural heritage accumulated from this, as well as the resulting pilgrimage psychology like yearning for Yan'an Pagoda Mountain.
The second-hand bookstalls in these cities are also an important part of the cultural heritage of each city, and it is an elegance in the bones. It's almost rare to see the used book stalls that have played an important role in my life anymore.
The last time I went to Tianjin, I took a look at the used book market in my busy schedule, and because of the tight time, I only bought 74 books, which was a little regrettable.
The second important channel for buying books is Xinhua Bookstore.
I didn't talk about it when I was a child. After moving to Daqing, for a long time, I basically bought books at Daqing Xinhua Bookstore. At that time, only Xinhua Bookstore could buy books. For a while, I knew most of the salespeople from the first floor to the fifth floor, sometimes holding my son, who was less than a year old, to show him the covers of the colorful books that the baby was reading, and at the same time telling him all kinds of stories, regardless of whether he understood it or not. When he was sleepy, the salesman would hold him and put him in their resting place to let him sleep, and I would pick up the books. When I woke up, I continued to hold him, and even my son became a regular customer of the bookstore, and many salespeople knew him. As he slowly led him to the bookstore, he staggered along the road from the first floor to the fifth floor, and people greeted him.
I really miss the Xinhua bookstore that sells books on all five floors.
Slowly, there were many more books in the antique city opposite Xinhua Bookstore.
It seems that all of a sudden, there are more places to buy books, and at the most in the antique city, there are dozens of shops selling books. It is naturally a good thing that there are more channels to choose from, because there is room for choice in the types and prices of representative books. At the beginning, the stage of comparing prices between companies was very short, and then I basically went to only one.
This is because of piracy. When I first read the book, I took care to keep the book as it was, and I wanted the book to be new after I finished reading it.
But slowly I noticed that there were typos in some of the books.
So I started to make changes to the book, and slowly developed the habit of not being able to read without a pen.
At first, it was just a matter of correcting the typos on the book with a pen, first putting the wrong word circle, then drawing an arrow, and writing the correct word in the blank space.
Because every time I read a book, I often feel something, and it gradually develops to write my thoughts in the margins of the pages. At that time, I just wrote down my experience, but when I read it again, I saw that sometimes there were different experiences here, so I remembered it again, and in order to distinguish it, I wrote the date. In the end, I read the book so many times that I couldn't remember when I read it, so I drew a circle on the last page of the book and wrote the date. If you read it more times, draw more and remember more dates.
So far, the one I have changed the most is one of the "Complete Works of Liang Yusheng", this book has not been found, and it stands to reason that I should not throw it away.
Among the three musketeers of martial arts, my favorite is, of course, Jin Yong and Jin Daxia. I bought his full set of martial arts novels from Joint Publishing and basically read each one many times. Ma Jun, who is also in the manager office of the natural gas company, particularly likes Gu Long, and he also got a notebook back then, which recorded many wonderful sentences of Gu Long, and sometimes read them for us to display. At that time, the excerpts were basically taken from the original book, because there was nothing to search for Baidu, so it was very time-consuming and laborious.
I don't know if this book is still there.,I guess it's thrown away.。
Influenced by him, I also read a few Gu Long's works, and later bought a set of general versions when the complete works were released.
In the end, if you think about it, it's not bad for Liang Yusheng, but I always feel that it's not worth buying a genuine set, and I happened to meet a store in the antique city that sells a full set of his novels, which is only 120 yuan, with an average of less than 3 yuan a copy, so I bought it back.
I knew that the quality of a book for less than 3 yuan would not be very good, but I didn't expect that it could be bad even if it was not very good. I read less than two pages of this set. Yes, that's right, it's not two, it's less than two pages, which means read a little more than one page! According to the old habit, I picked up the pen and started to read, but I corrected dozens of typos on the first page. It is certain that the genuine scan of others is recognized, and at that time, computer technology was not as successful as it is now, and the recognition success rate was 99%.
But after scanning, I published the book without proofreading at all, and I was also convinced.
There is a way to steal profits.
You have to be careful to do piracy!
Of course, I can't read this book.
I've always been bent on saving money, and the cost of reading this set of books is as high as 100 yuan a page.
The lesson is painful.
So since then, I don't buy books randomly, and I don't throw this set of books away now, but put it there to remind me.
After that, I started to buy books only at Mingyi Bookstore. Because you can buy genuine books at a price of 75% off, the key is that the speed of the shopkeeper entering the book is much faster than that of other bookstores. She also reads books herself, and sometimes recommends books that were popular at the time, so I bought many books from her. Although I haven't bought books for a long time, I still habitually go into the store to go around when I pass by occasionally.
Until the discovery of Confucius's old book network.
In fact, this is a space made up of tens of thousands of bookstalls. With so many shops, so many types, so many choices, so many editions, and so low prices, I started to stop buying books in physical stores.
Books are convenient, but there is also a lack of the sudden surprise when searching for books!
Yes, you can find any book you want to buy here.
Where do you still need to find, where do you still need to Tao!
Of course, where can you still find the original happiness!
It stands to reason that a person who reads the Tao Te Ching should not read fantasy novels, especially a person who spends seven months reading the Tao Te Ching should not read so many online novels.
I can only laugh, there is no way to explain this.
There is no way to explain it, there is no way to explain it, and what should be bought, hidden, and seen is still the same.
It is worth mentioning here that there are several special types of books.
There are several scenarios:
One is the book that is purchased repeatedly. The repetition here is not a different publisher or version, although there are some of them in my book, but that's not what I'm trying to say. The main reason is that I have read the book too many times, causing serious damage, or being borrowed by someone and not returning it, I still like it very much, so I can only buy another copy. For example, the book "Sketch of the Human Body", which I started reading when I was a freshman, is no longer what it looks like, and then I bought a new book published by the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. There are many more such books.
In addition, when I was young, I always wanted to rent out villain books to make money, so I bought two particularly good villain books. It's a pity that the great business of renting books has always been in the stage of talking on paper, and these repetitive books are just repetitions.
The second is the book "The Ordinary World," which I mentioned in section 5 of this chapter.
I bought this set of books on the second floor of the antique city, bought old books, and when I came back, I found that the first volume was missing the first six pages, and I started directly from page 7.
There are no traces of tearing off in the book, and it seems that there is less of it when it is bound.
Because it's an old book, there is only one set, and there is no place to change it.
Do it yourself, have plenty of food and clothing. Find online reading on the Internet, find out the missing paragraphs, refer to the physical book with WPS typesetting, discharge the first six pages, and then set the printing parameters, print out the few pages, and finally when I was ready to stick back into the book, I found that the printed paper was too white, obviously different, so I began to look for all kinds of paper in pursuit of perfection, and finally found the color difference was about the same, reprinted, and then used a hot melt machine (in order to bind the book, I bought a set of equipment that can bind the book by myself) glued the six pages of the book into the original book, Basically, I can't see any difference from the original.
This was printed by myself, because the original book started on page 3, and there was a volume 1 in front of it, and then the blank page was page 2, so I also typeset it according to the original book.
The third is the genuine version of the full set of "Qiong Yao Anthology" specially bought for his wife.
Mrs. liked to read Qiong Yao's works back then, so I specially bought this set, she said that whenever the mood is not good or I don't like it, I will find a copy to read, and I will be in a good mood after reading.
I haven't seen her in years now, and I guess it should be very pleasing to the eye now.
The fourth is the series of masterpieces of foreign literature mentioned in the previous chapter.
With the exception of villain books and Verne's novels, I rarely read foreign literary masterpieces, because they are time-consuming and laborious to read. But I knew that one day I would start reading it, so when I came across a good one, I bought it and saved it. And because I didn't have a version concept when I first bought it, I took too many detours and bought a lot of very bad versions.
Later, I picked it out and bought the People's Literature Publishing House version again.
Although I don't read it for the time being, it's pleasing to the eye.
Book collectors are always asked the same question, can you read so many books?
Our answer is basically the same, on the surface: Well, it's like a lady who buys a lot of clothes, and even if she doesn't wear them, she is very happy to hang them in the closet. In fact, the heart is all one sentence: I am willing!
Since there is a Tibetan character, it is Han Xin's general, the more the merrier!
It's just that there are too many books, and there is a problem, that is, in addition to sorting out too much energy, you also need to classify the collection!
In fact, since elementary school, I have been cataloging my collection many times.
But most of them give up halfway!
Cataloguing is really a technical job!
