Chapter 26. Cataloguing books is a technical task

Every book lover will almost always take the action of categorizing more books after buying more books, and at least they will involuntarily put books of similar categories together.

When there are more than 100 books, it is a normal thought and action to register books.

Thankfully, the date was written on the first bibliography that year.

April 12, 1981.

I'm only 11 years old. We both went to school at the age of 8, so I must have been in elementary school at the age of 11.

Admire yourself for five minutes!

This is my first collection of books.

At that time, I wrote the 170th book, not 170 books at that time, but I wrote that the little book was confiscated by my parents at this time, and it was not returned to me until a few years ago.

However, from this bibliography, which is only partially written, it can be seen that I was already very talented back then.

First of all, the numbering is extremely neat. I used the lead characters that I didn't know where to get them at the time, and wrote the serial number number number by number. Most geniusly, I also divided my books into six categories: martial arts comics, movie stories, ancient comic books, detective stories, battle stories, and god paintings (at that time, the words were also written into paintings) stories, and represented them with different symbols.

This means that at that time, I was not just registering all the villain books, but trying to classify the collection. Although it is extremely imperfectly divided into only six categories, and there are crossovers among them. But you have to know that I was only in the fourth grade of elementary school at that time, so I must be measured by my IQ at that time.

And under the conditions of being young, without reference, and without computer information, everything is completely blank, and it should be absolutely genius to think of these.

Another noteworthy thing is that when I registered the existing books, I didn't forget to record the missing books in the set, and put a "\" at the end, and then put a "/" on the original basis when I bought the book, so that it became a check sign "V", indicating that the book has been bought.

It was the best I could think of at the time.

As can be seen from the catalog, the first book registered that year was "The Legend of the Jade Bow".

This is one of the martial arts comic book series published by Lingnan Fine Arts Publishing House, and my understanding of this set of books stems from this book, and because of this book, I began to like this series. I remember buying several copies of "Hong Kong Kung Fu King", "Drunken Eight Immortals", "Iron Arm Sweeping Gang Rape" and so on. Later, as time went on, I bought more and more, and slowly I also bought the movie version.

I've always wanted to figure out how many copies of this set of books were published, but I don't know how many copies of this set of books were published because of the lack of information back then.

What I could do back then was to go to other people's book stalls to see if there was anything I didn't have, and then go back and record it and slowly look for it.

Now I have bought dozens of copies of this martial arts comic book series. I found it one by one, but I haven't bought it all now, and I'm still working on it! It is worth mentioning that even in today's advanced Internet, I still haven't figured out how many copies of this set of books have been published. Every time I buy a new catalog classification book, query on Baidu on the Internet, or consult under the forum of the same friend, the answers I get make me sigh that there are so many books in this set, but unfortunately soon after each time, I will inadvertently find another fish that has slipped through the net. As a result of these experiences, I don't know the truth now.

It doesn't matter how many copies have been published, as long as you buy or record every copy you find, you will always find out in the end.

We will continue to work on this package.

In this way, the 170 books registered one by one, one by one, witnessed the classification of books in my childhood.

Tidying up again is after joining the work. Because of the habit I developed when I was a child when I was organizing books, I like to put a set of books together, and it doesn't matter if I don't have it for the time being, keep the serial number first, and when I buy it later, I don't have to scatter the whole set of books because of the serial number. At first, I didn't think there was anything wrong with this method. It's not that there was no information to check when I was a child, but now there are too many channels to get it, how can I know how many books have been published in a set. What's more, because of the inconvenience caused by the lack of materials when I was a child, I later developed the habit of looking for catalogs, and I also bought some specially compiled illustrated books, so I was full of confidence when registering books.

I persevered for a while, and I felt that I couldn't hold on anymore.

Because some sets of books, such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Journey to the West", "Dream of Red Mansions", "The Legend of the Xingtang Dynasty", etc., basically show a full set of bibliography on the last page of each book, so it is easier to register, just copy it.

But if you encounter some independent books, it will be difficult. In addition to the Lingnan martial arts comic book just mentioned, there are also the "Youth Picture Library" published by the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House, the "Weekend" pictorial series in Lingnan, the "Youth Comic Book Library" in Guangdong, and the "Moral Education Series" in Shandong. The catalogue I bought was not complete at all, and I was always able to find new ones, which made me extremely frustrated, because it meant that I had to re-number the whole number every time I found a new one.

Later, I had to abandon this way of categorizing the missing books in the series.

Until now, the Internet has been so developed, and there are many sets of books that I still don't know how many books will be published in the end.

Again, try to sort by the method you used to do when you were a child. And then another busy day.

History, Classics, War, Children, Film and Television, Martial Arts, Culture (Poetry, Idioms, Fables, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, etc.), Detectives, Characters......

During this period, I also tried to put together editions of the same book published by different publishers, for example, I had eight editions of "Forest of Terror". I have also tried to pick out all kinds of animals in the bibliography and put them together, such as "Fighting Shark", "The Returning Crane", "Fighting Bear", "The Footprints of Handahan", "The Deer Singing Green Valley", "The Lady is a Cow", "The Frog and the Toad", "The Sacrificial Zebra", "Attention the Ants", "The Ostrich Shepherd", "The Medal of the Owl", "The Hummingbird and the Fly Bird", "The Little Squirrel Treats", "The Clever Dolphin", "The Cries in the Middle of the Night", "The Tale of the Fisherman and the Goldfish", "The Indian Prince and the Monkey", "The Scheming Lena Fox", "The Nightingale Under the Cat's Paws", ...... And so on, and so on, I thought it was very interesting at the time.

After several choreography, I still feel that there are deficiencies.

Like that set of martial arts comics, it's easier to do, you can put them together. And the other sets like the one I mentioned, if they were divided in this way, would be placed in different places on the shelves, and it would be very difficult to find.

Again half-.

After a while, the fourth classification did not dare to be full of tricks, but was honestly placed according to the publishing house, and at the same time no longer entangled (and impossible to be entangled) with the problem of serial numbers, this time it was much better!

But it was only a few months before new problems arose.

The problem this time is that we are too much of a perfectionist.

Since I want to make a good bibliography, I want to be as perfect as possible.

So I decided to build my own database to annotate the bibliography.

Don't envy me for being able to database, I'm also a person who has had a personal computer since 1998.

When I built the database, I listed nearly 20 items, such as bibliography, authors, illustrators, publishers, publication time, edition, printing time, printing time, missing books, residual books, classification, shelf position, page number, price, reading time, evaluation, statistical time, and remarks.

It didn't take long to start worrying, and it was too tiring.

There are nearly 20 items, and each book has to be turned in many places, the bibliography is on the cover, the author is on the first page, the copyright page is on the second page (according to the book turned over, not the page number printed on the book), some are on the last page, some are on the penultimate page, and some are still printed on the back cover, each book is different. Gotta keep looking.

Sometimes I have to remember when I bought the book and when I finished it, and then type it with ABCDE. As a result, it takes five or six minutes to annotate a book at the earliest, and seven or eight minutes at the earliest.

I can't record a few books in a day. It certainly won't work like this. You know, I'm not annotating dozens, hundreds, or thousands, but more than 13,000 copies. If you record such a book for five or six minutes, it will take four years to work for an hour a day. This is not how time is wasted.

Forget it.

Again halfway, and this time throwing longer.

The last time I had the idea of continuing to catalogue annotations was two years ago, because I felt that I couldn't always do it this way, at least to find out how many books I had.

Summing up the lessons of the failures of many previous registrations, this time only a limited number of items were selected for annotation, and other irrelevant dispensables were left blank first, and then we will talk about them later.

This time, I repeatedly selected more than 20 options, and finally selected six essential items: bibliography, author, publisher, lack of books, location, and annotation time. An average of 10 books per day was included as an option in the first five-year plan.

This time I finally got an approximate date for figuring out what my book collection was.

This time, I didn't rush into the book as I did before, but turned the book upside down first. Or is it influenced by the classification in elementary school, and the big books are divided into several categories.

1. Book series. There is nothing to divide into this, as long as it is a series of books, it all boils down to a series of books, such as "Nine Yuan Series", "Illustrating the World", "New Weapon Series", "Cloth Tiger Series", etc., all boiled down to a series, unified in a bookcase, a grid.

2. History. Whether Mr. Yi Zhongtian's complete set of "Chinese History" or "The Fifteenth Year of Wanli" is a single paragraph, as long as it is history, including "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty" written by Mingyue that year, it all comes down here.

3. Art.

1. Fine arts. It is divided into several sub-items such as Chinese painting (techniques, drafts), oil painting, drawing, sketching, perspective, and anatomy.

2. Calligraphy. Only hard pens and soft pens are divided. There are very few books in this sub-category, only more than 20 books, and I usually practice calligraphy very rarely, so I don't even bring many books and posts.

3. Design. I bought this a long time ago. Recently, because the information on the Internet is easy to find, I haven't bought this kind of book for a long time.

4. Albums. Regardless of whether it is a single person or multiple people, all those who directly mark the words of the painting book will fall into this category.

4. Literature.

01. Poetry. The reason why this is ranked first is related to the fact that the first poem I memorized when I was a child was read in "One Hundred Song Poems". And this one is also a little taller. Hundreds of poems are not a few.

02. Classical literature. My definition of classical literature is that as long as there is classical Chinese, the pre-Republic of China has been reduced to me. It includes not only "Tao Te Ching" and "Dream of Red Mansions", but also "Three Character Classic", "Three Heroes and Five Righteousness" and "Little Five Righteousness...... It's just that when it is placed, it is divided into two categories: philosophy and fiction.

03. Masterpieces of foreign literature. This needs no explanation.

04, Mao Dun Literature Award Novel. Since "The Ordinary World", I know that there is an award called Mao Dun Literature Award (Mao Dun Literature Award, Lao She Literature Award, Cao Yu Drama Literature Award, and Lu Xun Literature Award are also known as China's four major literary awards, with high gold content. The Mao Dun Literature Award is selected every four years, and the entries must be novels, and the number of words is required to be more than 130,000 yuan, and the prize money is 500,000 yuan. So far, the Mao Dun Literature Award has been held for 10 years, and 48 outstanding literary works have been selected. The eleventh should be evaluated in March this year, but there seems to be no news), began a special search for books, and listed this separately.

I have ten of them, "Spring in Winter", "White Deer Plain", "The Right Bank of the Ergun River", "Tuina", "Secret Calculation", "Lakes and Mountains", "The Sky of History", "The Funeral of a Muslim", "The East" and "Ordinary World", and there are still 38 left.

The main thing is tangled in the version.

05, officialdom novels. That's a lot, I wrote about it yesterday!

06, martial arts novels. specifically refers to Jin Yong, Gu Long, Liang Yusheng, and Wen Ruian.

Liang Yusheng bought pirated copies and didn't want to buy a full set, so he was thinking about buying a few more representative ones such as "Yunhai Jade Bow Edge" and "Seven Swords Under the Heavenly Mountain" to keep it.

07, war novels.

08, romance novels.

09, detective novels.

10. Web novels.

11. Celebrity biographies.

The above five are literal meanings.

12. Essays. Mainly refers to a collection of essays by famous artists! is different from anthologies in that they are basically single books, such as Zhang Tiesheng's "Me and the Temple of Earth" and so on.

13. Anthology. Anthologies mainly refer to works collected by famous artists, such as "Ji Xianlin's Anthology" and so on.

14. Other literary works. What cannot be classified is temporarily unified into other literary works.

5. Inspirational marketing

1. Inspirational.

2. Marketing.

3. The way of management.

At that time, I read a lot of books and accumulated a lot of such books, starting with Carnegie's "The Weakness of Human Nature" to the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series, to Iacocca's autobiography, "A winner-takes-all society", Yu Shiwei's business philosophy, and so on.

6. Magazines

Many of the magazines have been swept away, and now only a limited number remain, and are in the process of being fully collected.

1. Only one copy of the magazine I have read before is kept as a souvenir.

2. People's literature

3. Readers

4. Art guide

5. Comic strips

6. Fine arts

7. Science fiction world

Seventh, I deliberately put all the other things that can't be classified for the time being, and I'll see which sub-items can be divided again. That's a rough breakdown of books.

Villain books, on the other hand, are only classified by publisher.

In line with the guiding concept of finishing first and then perfecting learned from the game, this collection of books has finally been divided without tangling with details.

Divide it out, but there are still entanglements when it is placed, and some books always feel that this category is okay and that category can also be used, and it seems that a new category can also be considered.

Tangle while tidying up, tidying up while tangled. I don't feel comfortable with myself.

This sorting is still in progress, and there is absolutely no guarantee that it will continue until it is completed, and I don't know if it will be discontinued or when.

As for whether there will be a sixth book classification in the future, it's really hard to say.

It is estimated that there is a probability of more than 90% that it will be upside down, just like the lady occasionally turns her clothes upside down.

Moving a book from C1 to F3 isn't a matter of principle, as long as I have fun with it.

Who gave me a study that was the envy of many readers?
