Chapter 247: Losing Mother

After Huineng relieved the drought for the people of Tiantianpingzhai, he was about to leave for his return, but the people of Chunwan, Yangchun and other places arrived one after another, begging Huineng to relieve the drought for them.

Huineng immediately agreed, asked Liang Yaocai to go back to Tianlu Mountain first, and told his mother that he would go back to relieve the drought in Chunwan and Yangchun.

Who knew that Huineng went to relieve the drought for Chunwan and Yangchun, and on the way back to Tianlu Mountain, he was chased and killed by the outlaws gathered by Yingyin, so he had to hide in the deep mountains and old forests around Chunwan.

The sun and the moon are reincarnated, and the annual July 14 is approaching.

July 14 (called the July Festival) is a traditional folk ancestor worship festival, which originates from the ancestral spirit worship and related time sacrifices in ancient times. In the Book of Changes, "seven" is a changing number, the number of resurrection.

July is the auspicious month, filial piety month, July 14 (July half) is the folk early autumn celebration of the harvest, reward the earth's festival, there are a number of crops ripe, the folk according to the routine to worship the ancestors, with new rice and other offerings, to the ancestors to report the autumn harvest.

The July Festival is a kind of cultural traditional festival to remember the ancestors, and its cultural core is to respect the ancestors and fulfill filial piety.

In the Book of Changes, "seven" is a changing number, the number of resurrection. "I Ching": "Repeat its way, seven days back and forth, and the sky is also." ”

Seven is the number of yang, the number of days, after the yang energy between heaven and earth is extinguished, it can be reborn after seven days, this is the way of heaven and earth, the principle of yin and yang cycle. "Seven" also has mysterious colors, such as "seven stars" in the sky, "seven feelings" in human feelings, "seven colors" in color, "seven tones" in music, "seven rhythms" in poetry, "seven tricks" in the human body, and so on.

"Seven" is also the life cycle of a person, with education at the age of seven, puberty at the age of fourteen, and full physical maturity at the age of twenty-one......

The number seven is expressed in the folk in terms of time, and the "seven seven" is often used as the final game and the resurrection game when calculating the time.

"July is an auspicious month and a month of filial piety, and the 14th (27th) is the number of cycles of the "seven" number.

The ancients chose to worship their ancestors on the 14th day of the seventh month (half of the seventh month), which is related to the number of resurrection "seven". This festival originated from the early "July and a half" agricultural harvest autumn taste to worship ancestors, in ancient times, people for the harvest of farming, often pinned on the blessing of the gods.

Ancestor worship is practiced in spring, summer, autumn and winter, but the "autumn taste" of early autumn is very important.

Autumn is the harvest season, and people perform rituals to sacrifice to the spirits of their ancestors, offering seasonal products to the gods, then tasting the fruits of these labors themselves and praying for a good harvest in the coming year.

In the middle of July, Buddhism calls it the Yu Lan Festival, and Taoism calls it the Zhongyuan Festival. In folk customs, "July and a half" is a kind of cultural traditional festival to remember the ancestors, and its cultural core is to respect the ancestors and do their filial piety, not forgetting the roots.

In Buddhism, the month of July is also known as the "Month of Joy", "Buddha's Day of Joy", "Auspicious Month", and "Month of Thanks".

The original meaning of Ghost Day is the meaning of congratulations and thanksgiving, and its earliest origins were in India in the fifth century BC. There is this record in the Buddhist scripture "Garan Sutra": The disciple with the strongest divine power under the Buddha's throne, Moggallian, his mother did too much evil during her lifetime, and after her death, she fell into the Infernal Hell of Abi and suffered infernal suffering. Although Moggallan had the strongest supernatural powers, he always saw his mother suffering and could not do anything, so he turned to the Buddha for help.

The Buddha instructed that on the 15th day of the seventh month, the monks of the ten directions should be invited to a banquet to fast, and the monks of the ten directions should be allowed to recite sutras for the mother of the ten directions, and also for the souls of the people who harassed the mother of the people, so that the mother of the Buddha could be at peace.

Because July 15 is close to the harvest season, and the most important time of the year is neither hot nor cold, so it is the most suitable time for the soul of the wanderer. Later generations followed suit, and all the monks of the ten directions were feasted on the 15th day of the seventh month, hoping that their ancestors would have a peaceful future after their deaths.

In addition, in the early morning of the tenth day of the seventh month, Huineng woke up from a small thatched hut in the deep mountains of Chunwan...... In the peach blossom forest in front of the thatched hut, a cuckoo cried blood under the peach blossoms, "Returning...... Return ......"

Huineng has a bad premonition that something big will happen. Perhaps, the mother and son are connected, and his first feeling is to think of his mother-in-law, and subconsciously tells him: his mother is calling him to "go back" and see his son for the last time.

Huineng packed his bags, strode down the mountain, and came to Xinjiangkou after several twists and turns.

In this life, Huineng is destined to have a fate with An Daocheng, a great benevolent man. Just as he was standing at the port of Xinjiang and looking around to see if there were any passenger boats returning to Xinzhou, he saw a merchant not far away staring at him and walking towards him.

Huineng blinked, feeling that this merchant was so good-looking, as if he had seen it somewhere......

Finally, Huineng remembered: it was the shopkeeper of Xinzhou An Daocheng who walked towards him. He was a mixture of joy and sorrow for a while, rushed forward with an arrow, and shouted loudly: "The merchant in front of him, is it the shopkeeper An?" ”

"Exactly, Huineng, when the old man saw you from afar, he thought you were Huineng. Sure enough, I read it right. An Daocheng said excitedly.

It's a surprise to meet the old friend after a long absence! Besides, they weren't ordinary old people.

So, Huineng opened his heart and told An Daocheng: since he was funded, went north to Huangmei Dongchan Temple to seek Buddhism, and returned south with the mantle of Zen Buddhism, he hid in the deep mountains of Sihui, Huaiji, and Xinzhou in Guangdong, and has been fifteen years now, because of the early morning of the tenth day of the first month, he woke up in a thatched hut in the deep mountains of Chunwan, and he missed his mother on a whim, so he came to Xinjiangkou and wanted to take a boat back to Xinzhou......

After listening to Huineng's experience, An Daocheng not only sighed for Huineng's bumpy experience, but also was happy that he himself inherited the mantle of Zen Buddhism and became the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism!

After An Daocheng excitedly congratulated Huineng, he changed his words: "After my ship is unloaded, we will go back to Xinzhou together." ”

"Good!" Huineng said happily.

In the evening of the same day, Huineng took a tailwind boat back to the Dongkou Wharf, and An Daocheng warmly invited Huineng to go ashore and have dinner at the nearby Tianji Hotel, and then sent Huineng to the mouth of the Chengcheng Luxi River.

After waving goodbye to An Daocheng, Huineng went straight to Tianlu Mountain overnight. When Huineng arrived at Shimen Cave, he found that his mother was not there, so he rushed to Liang Yaocheng's house, and it was already the fourth watch.

Liang Jinlian got up in the middle of the night to serve Li's medicine, and just lay down on the bed, when she heard three consecutive knocks on the door of "porphyry", she had a premonition that Brother Aneng, who had been absent for a long time, might be back.

Liang Jinlian hurriedly got up in her clothes, walked out and opened the door, and sure enough, it was Brother Aneng, who she had been thinking about day and night, standing outside the door.

Liang Jinlian stepped forward, pulled Huineng's hands suddenly, tears kept dripping down like pearls with broken threads, and choked up and said, "Brother Aneng, you are finally back...... Aunt she ......"

"What's wrong with my mother?" Huineng hurriedly asked.

Liang Jinlian sighed "sigh", "Brother Aneng, my aunt has been sick for a long time, and she may be dying...... This...... These days, you're always shouting your name......"

When Huineng heard Liang Jinlian say this, it was like five thunderbolts, his liver and intestines were broken, and he stumbled to Li's bed, and shouted loudly, "Mother, Neng'er is back, your son is back." ”

Speaking of the Li family, since Huineng left her on the night of July 13 a year ago, as the saying goes, "the mother cares about the mother of a thousand miles".

Whenever in the dead of night, she always naturally dreamed that Neng'er was hunted down and beaten by wicked people, and every time she woke up from a dream, she always wet the back of her clothes with cold tears.

Although Liang Yaocheng's family treats her like relatives, Liang Jinlian poured her full love for Huineng into the Li family.

Over the past year, although Liang Jinlian has always cared for and taken good care of the Li family. But the Li family was already sick before the heavens dew the mountain, and the years were ruthless, how could the old, weak, sick and disabled body be able to survive these old years? Since last winter and this spring, Li's health has deteriorated, and it is getting worse day by day.

Liang Yaocheng saw that Li's physical condition was getting worse day by day, and he knew that her time might be short, so he asked Liang Jinhui to go out to inquire about Huineng's whereabouts, but he still hasn't come back.

So, last month, Liang Yaocheng organized a birthday banquet for the Li family on the grounds of Lee's birthday.

Li's breath had just improved, but just a few days later, Li seemed to have returned to his past groggy state, as if he had run out of oil and the lights went out, and he almost lost his breath several times......

Because Li was worried about Huineng in his heart, he survived from the ghost gate again and again......

Now, when Li saw that Neng'er, who was worried about him day and night, came back, he trembled and stretched out his hand from the quilt, Huineng hurriedly stepped forward and knelt down, took Li's hand, and said with tears: "Mother, forgive the child for being unfilial and unable to serve you." ”

"Back to ...... Just come...... Okay, I'm ...... Finally has a son to send to the end...... I want to go back to ...... Village" Li finished intermittently, and a burst of phlegm came up......

Huineng hurriedly got up and helped Li Shi to lie half-lying, patted her back gently, and after a while, Li Shi felt more comfortable.

Seeing that Hui Neng's exhaustion was thinner and darker than the last time they met, Li comforted him painfully, "Neng'er, don't be sad, my mother is fine, you are alone, you must take care of your body...... Alright, you all go out and rest. ”

Huineng and Liang Yaocheng saw that the Li family was sleeping quietly, and after stepping out of the hall, Huineng first expressed his gratitude to Liang Yaocheng's family, and then said to Liang Yaocheng, "Uncle Yaocheng, I want to take my mother down the mountain and return to Xialu Village tomorrow." ”

Liang Yaocheng heard Huineng say this, lowered his head, took out a long-rod hookah pipe silently, and smoked "Bada, Bada...... After a long time, he let out a long sigh and said, "Ah Neng, you are my savior, since my aunt and you have just said it, I can only obey." ”

"Thank you again Uncle Yaocheng for your understanding." Huineng looked at Liang Yaocheng sincerely and said gratefully.

After breakfast the next day, Liang Yaocheng was about to go to Lidongwei to ask a sedan chair to escort Li back to Xialu Village, when he saw Huineng raise his hand, pick a leaf from the camphor tree next to the courtyard, put it to his lips as a whistle, and blew a few times.

The tiger near the White Tiger Pit, hearing the long-lost Engong's whistle call, hurriedly followed the sound with two tigers and came to Huineng's side, bowed his head and wagked his tail, waiting for Engong's orders.

Hui Neng caressed their tiger backs lovingly, and then, with Liang Jinlian, went into the house to help Li out. The tigress bowed down understandingly, Huineng helped Li to sit on the tiger's back, and then put on his back and sat behind Li, Liang Yaocheng and Liang Jinlian also stepped on the back of the two tigers respectively, and went down to Tianlu Mountain like a modern person on a motorcycle, and went to Xialu Village......

Huineng and his entourage returned to Xialu Village and settled down the Li family, the villagers, relatives and friends, local officials, and eminent monks in the village came to visit after hearing the news-

Huineng's uncle and aunt came with their nephews;

……

Although Li was sick and bedridden, he saw so many people coming to visit, and his face showed a relieved face......

When Li was dying, Huineng, Li Xiaolan, and Liang Jinlian waited in front of the bed, her cloudy eyes looked at the two jade people who were not daughters-in-law, but more like daughters-in-law, and kept pouting, tears flowed from the corners of their eyes, and passed away peacefully on the morning of July 14.

An Daocheng donated money to organize the funeral for the Li family;

Zen Master Huayu personally performed a ritual for the Li family.
