Chapter 355: The Voice of Heaven
Isn't it heaven that recreates the scene of living in seclusion in Tianlu Mountain, and Ah Lianmei fell into the mirror lake next to the Buddha pier? Or is it a return to the light? Or is Ah Lianmei still alive in the present, protecting the long landscapes of her homeland, depressed sentient beings, and showing people in heaven? This scene made the six ancestors Hui Neng think about it.
While pondering, a bolt of lightning exploded with a thunderbolt, which woke An Daocheng and Sixth Ancestor Huineng from their thoughts.
After An Daocheng woke up, he stretched out his hands, rubbed his old and dizzy eyes, looked up at the sky with rolling black clouds, and hurriedly said to God: "It's not good, the storm is coming!" Go and wake up your master and go back to the temple. β
It's not strange to say it's not strange, it's not strange to say it's not strange, the six ancestors Huineng, Shenhui and An Daocheng The three of them just stepped into the Longshan Guoen Temple, only to see the dark sky, blown away by a gust of wind, the ground rolled up the yellow leaves, after the storm, the heaven and the earth returned to normal, the wind and the sun were beautiful, and the Longshan Guosi Temple ushered in a new day.
As soon as the Sixth Patriarch Huineng returned to the hall with Shenhui and An Daocheng to sit down, he saw Fahai coming in a hurry, panting slightly, and said, "Master, the Zen monks and believers who came to listen to your teachings yesterday came to the hall early in the morning to wait for the master's teachings. They all said, 'Master, what you said yesterday was very wonderful, and after hearing it, I suddenly realized that I wanted to know the result of this, 'Master, is it ......?'
"Senior brother, you ......" The Shenhui was just about to interrupt Fahai, telling Fahai that the master had not slept all night last night, and went back to his hometown before dawn, and had not rested until now, so that Fahai would know, so that he could inform the Zen monks and believers and let the master take a rest.
Who knows, the Sixth Ancestor Huineng has already understood what the Divine Club thinks, waved his hand to him, and said, "Fahai, you go to the palace first and tell them, I'll be there later." β
Besides, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng and An Dao Chengcheng and the God Society had a meal in the dining hall and rested for a while.
When the Sixth Ancestor Huineng ascended the hall in full spirit, the palace cheered again: "Nan Wu Sixth Ancestor Master Huineng!" β
After the cheers, the hall sounded again with the voice of the Sixth Ancestor Huineng, which was like a heavenly voice from the Buddha country-
In addition, in this year, Shakyamuni Buddha traveled to Maitreya's hometown, the country of Paranai, and lived in the Shilu forest.
On that day, the Buddha begged for food and sat down under a large tree.
Standing next to him were the disciples of MahakΔya, Sariputta, Moggallan, Ananda, Rahula, and others, as well as Avalokiteshvara, Dashi Zhi, Manjushri, and Maitreya.
At that time, Maitreya saw that the Buddha was sitting quietly, and his face radiated a serene light, so he stood up from his seat, walked out of the crowd, walked up to the Buddha, knelt on his right knee, folded his hands, and bowed respectfully, and said, "World-honored One, I have a question that I would like to ask for advice, and I hope you can answer it." β
The Buddha smiled brightly, opened his golden mouth and said, "Maitreya, you ask, I will explain it in detail, so that you will return satisfied." β
When Maitreya saw that the Buddha had allowed it, he danced with excitement and hurriedly asked, "World-honored one, what method has the Bodhisattva accomplished to quickly attain the attainment of the three bodhisattvas?" β
Anuttara sambodhi, i.e., supreme enlightenment. This is wisdom that can only be realized by a Buddha, and it contains the meaning of equality and perfection. With the truth it has understood, it is called "supreme"; With its wisdom all over the universe and all-encompassing, it is called "positive omniscience". The whole content of the Mahayana bodhisattva practice is to achieve this enlightenment. That's why Maitreya asked.
When Shakyamuni Buddha heard Maitreya ask this, he couldn't help but laugh and said, "Maitreya, you already understand this question!" You deliberately asked for the benefit of the public, right? β
Maitreya scratched the back of her head and smiled "hee-hee", which counted as an answer.
The Buddha then said, "Well, only those who come here can ask the point, and only the one who comes can ask the deep meaning of the truth." Listen carefully and think carefully so that you don't let down Maitreya's kindness. β
Thus, the Buddha described 55 ways to stay away from the evil path and quickly attain Bodhi......
β¦β¦
When Maitreya saw that the Buddha had finished speaking, he leaned on his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, folded his palms in respect, and praised the Buddha's merits in an extremely beautiful voice.
At this time, Ananda asked the Buddha, "World-honored one, Maitreya is not only brilliant in wisdom but also brilliant in writing, how can he have such talent?" β
Shakyamuni Buddha said: "In the past, a long, long time ago, there was a Buddha who was born, and the Buddha name was 'Flame Game Wonderful Sound is Free Wang Rulai'. At that time, there was a brahmin youth in the place where the Buddha was, named 'Xianshou. He saw that the flame light Buddha looked dignified and solemn, and his demeanor was serene; The face is bustling, like the moon is full; Weiguang is magnificent, as the sun is shining; If you are like a spring breeze, you will stop like a green pine. He was overjoyed and made a wish in his heart: I will also achieve such a solemn body of merit in the next life, and I hope that it will come to me with sufficient content. At this time, the Flame Light Buddha had already understood Xianshou's thoughts, and immediately kicked his body with his foot. When the Buddha descended, Xianshou attained the non-life dharma forbearance (i.e., dwelling on the truth of immortality). The Flame Light Buddha immediately announced to everyone: Xianshou has attained the realm of lifeless forbearance, has reached the realm of non-regression bodhisattva, and will soon be able to achieve the six supernatural powers of heavenly eye, heavenly ear, other heart, dwelling, divine realm, and wisdom. β
After saying that, Shakyamuni asked Ananda, "Do you know who that virtuous man is?" β
Ananda shook his head, and the Buddha told him, "Is that virtuous man in a past life someone else?" He is the Maitreya of today! β
Ananda thought for a moment and said, "Since Maitreya has already attained the Dharma-forbearance, how can he not attain the three bodhisattvas of Anuttara?" β
Yes, since Maitreya has already reached the state of a great bodhisattva who does not retreat, how can he not become a Buddha until now?
Shakyamuni said, "Maitreya has been practicing the bodhisattva for forty eons before I have developed the three bodhichittas. Because of my courage and perseverance, I surpassed him and attained the three bodhisattvas in the tribulation. β
So, the Buddha's eyes fluctuated with a dreamlike look, and his thoughts returned to the distant pastβ
The snow-capped mountains stand majestically, not high enough to see their tops, not wide enough to see their edges, only covered with ice and snow, shining in the sun. A cool country with clear ice and jade, and a world of crystal clear glass. At that time, there were no Buddhas born and no Buddhist scriptures circulating, but there were still bodhisattvas who practiced hard.
On this day, a brahmin came down from the deserted snowy mountain, and settled in the open mountain field to practice bodhisattva practice.
The southern foot of the Great Snow Mountain is extremely quiet, with verdant forests, flowing springs, medicinal herbs, and dense water. The mountain waterfall is like the Milky Way hanging upside down, and the stream between the stones falls to the ground like the sound of a piano; Many flowers are around, purple and red, and the fragrance is misty; Birds and beasts get along harmoniously, warblers sing and swallows dance, and a flat ......
The most pleasant thing is that the dried fruits are abundant all over the mountains, and the varieties are innumerable; There are also various kinds of lotus roots and many sweet wild potatoes in the ground, so the Brahmins can eat the fruits at will when they are alone in the mountains, and they never have to worry about their diet. After eating wild fruits every day, he sat in meditation and meditated.
The mountains are deep and the world is separated, and only Yanxia is recruited as a companion.
The years are old, and the flowers and plants alone are in spring and autumn.
The snow melts and the red flowers are gorgeous, and the green branches grow and the yellow leaves fly. The brahmins have gone through immeasurable years, and they still do not retreat from the Tao and do not stop doing asceticism.
Because he has lived in the snow mountain for a long time, his name is lost, and he is called "Snow Mountain Master".
The Brahmin, a master of the snow-capped mountains, because he has no Dharma to navigate, is like a blind man exploring the path on the top of a lonely peak full of thorns and traps......
It is difficult to make a trip, and there is no hope to still hope. Such a difficult exploration and such tenacious perseverance made Shi Tihuanyin and other celestials very surprised, and they wanted to test and test how strong the will to seek the Dharma of the Snow Mountain Master was.
So, he came to the southern foot of the snow-capped mountain and stood not far from the snow-capped mountain tuss sitting meditation place.
In a soft and elegant voice, he recited half of the verses that the Buddha had said in the past:
Impermanence,
It is the law of birth and death.
After saying this, the Rakshasa ghost came to the front of the snow-capped mountain master and looked in all directions, as if looking for some delicious prey. The gaze in its fierce eyes is extremely ferocious and intimidating.
At this time, the snow-capped mountain master, who had been practicing asceticism for many years without making any progress, heard the half of the poem, and his heart was overjoyed, just like a night walker who was facing a desperate situation, and suddenly saw a bright light; It is also like a long-term sick person who is riddled with stubborn diseases, and when he is in pain, he suddenly encounters a good doctor; It is as if a person who has fallen into the sea has encountered a boat, as if he has found a clear spring when he is very thirsty, as if the driest season has finally come to spring rain, just like a wanderer who has wandered the world and suddenly found his hometown......
The Snow Mountain Master was overjoyed and excited, and his excitement was indescribable. Then he rose from his seat and looked around for the person who had spoken:
Who is the wonderful voice of the Buddhas,
Open the door to deliverance for me?
Who wakes up alone when all beings are in the sleep of life and death,
Sing a song of enlightenment?
Who can be in the desert of the earth,
An ascetic who nourishes the hungry with nectar?
Who said this,
Enlighten my heart,
Like a flower god swaying in the spring breeze?
However, what he saw was a hideous-looking Rakshasa ghost!
How can such a terrifying and ugly face speak such a wonderful and profound character? Could it be that a gorgeous lotus flower can grow in the midst of the fire? Warm water in the midst of snow and ice?
However, the Snow Mountain Master did not hesitate, because he thought, "I don't have the wisdom to explore the causes of the past, and maybe this rakshasa can see the Buddhas of the past and hear about this half of the poem from the Buddhas."
He immediately walked up to the Rakshasa and asked, "Good, Bodhisattva, where did you get the half of the verses that the Buddhas of the past said?" Where have you found the path preached by the Buddha? Nowadays, the immeasurable beings in the world, because of their karmic obstacles, have never been blessed to hear such a mysterious teachings. β
Unexpectedly, the rakshasa replied, "Great Brahmin, you shouldn't ask me such a thing. Why? Because I haven't eaten food for days, I can't get it from place to place. It was hunger, thirst and distress that made my heart very confused, so I talked nonsense at will, and those two sentences were like a dream of proverbs, and what was the meaning of them was not something I could understand in my heart. β
The Snow Mountain Master said, "Bodhisattva, what you said is not finished, and the meaning is not fully expressed, why don't you say it?" I have just listened to half of the poem, and I will worship you as a teacher and be your disciple for the rest of my life. β
Rakshasa replied, "You're too selfish, aren't you?" I'm just worried about myself, but I don't see that I'm suffering from hunger and pain right now, how can I have the strength to speak for you? β
The Snow Mountain Master hurriedly said, "What do you feed on?" I'll help you find it. You have a full stomach, so you can speak for me. β
Rakshasa smiled bitterly: "What I have eaten ......"
The Snow Mountain Master thought for a moment and said solemnly: "After you finished the second half of the poem, and after I heard it, I am willing to dedicate and give my body to you as food for you to enjoy." β
Rakshasa smiled coldly: "Who in the world in the world will believe these nonsense words of yours?" Just for just two sentences and just eight words, can you contribute your body to take care of in every way? Can you give up your most precious life? β
The Snow Mountain Master replied, "Rakshasa, you really have no wisdom! For example, if someone gives a fragile clay pot, but can exchange it for gold, silver, and jewelry, will you change it? That's how I am now, giving up my unstable body and getting the vajra body! If I am like this, what is the use of this body after I die? Isn't it going to be eaten by tigers, wolves, and insects? And there is not even the slightest merit. Today, in order to attain the attainment of the three bodhisattvas of Anuttara, I gave up my body for the vajra body, so I am willing to give up my life for the sake of the eight words. β
The Snow Mountain Master was overjoyed in his heart, and immediately untied the deerskin he was wearing, and laid a solemn throne for the rakshasa. Respectfully said: "Monk, please take a seat." β
He lifted the rakshasa to his seat with his own hands, folded his hands, and knelt down.
Rakshasa finally said the second half of the poem:
Life and death have been extinguished,
Silence is joy.
After Rakshasa finished speaking, he was afraid that the Snow Mountain Master would regret it, so he hurriedly said: "You have heard the whole song now, I have fulfilled your wishes, you should give me your physical alms, right?" β
"The impermanence of all actions is the law of birth and death; Life and death have been extinguished, and silence is joy. The Snow Mountain Master recited this poem repeatedly, his thinking was simple, and he felt more and more profound.
In order to benefit sentient beings and make it very easy for future generations to learn the Dharma, he wrote these four verses on rock walls, tree trunks, etc. He then climbed to the top of a tall tree, jumped in the air, and sacrificed himself to the rakshasa......
As his head was about to hit the rock and he was about to be crushed to pieces, the rakshasa regained his form as the Emperor Shakti, caught the snowy mountain master in the air, and put him back to the ground safely.
At this time, all the gods appeared in the form of gods, and under the leadership of Shi Ti Huanyin, the head of the priest bowed at the foot of the Snow Mountain Master.
Shi Tihuan exclaimed: "Good, good, you are really a great bodhisattva!" With your spirit of sacrificing your life for the Dharma, you will surely light a great torch in the darkness of ignorance, illuminating the path to enlightenment and liberation from suffering, which will bring immeasurable benefits to all sentient beings. I have deliberately come to test you for the sake of cherishing the Dharma, and I hope you will accept my repentance. In future lives, you will surely be able to attain the attainment of the three bodhisattvas. β
After speaking, Shi Tihuan and many celestials bowed to the Snow Mountain Master, and suddenly disappeared.
The Snow Mountain Master is actually the predecessor of Shakyamuni. Because he gave up his life for the sake of half of the son, he was able to transcend it by this karma and attain the attainment of the three bodhisattvas before Maitreya.
It was an extremely distant time, and in our world, there was a great king named Maharatan. It means that the "Great Treasure" ------ has 5,000 small countries under its command, which can be described as large; The country is rich and strong, and there are countless treasures. The king had three precious sons, the eldest was named Mahafu Naning, the second was called Mahadeva, and the youngest was called Mahasattva. At a young age, Prince Satta was very innocent and kind-hearted, often playing with small animals, and treating all living beings equally.
On a spring day, the king and queen led the three princes, as well as the ministers and generals who guarded them, to play in the mountains. Perhaps it was because of the king's advanced age, or perhaps because of the habit of taking a lunch break, after the noon picnic, the king felt a little tired, so he rested in the mountains and forests for a while.
The three princes were young, vigorous and energetic, and they continued to explore and play in the mountains as they climbed over the mountain ridges and through the dense forests.
The clouds and mist seal the river and ravine, and the dragon qi is hidden in one scale and half claws;
The forest is full of hills, and the grass nest stone cave is looking for tiger tracks.
Sure enough, they found a tiger in a hidden cave!
