Chapter VI. A wall
Listening to the meaning of this uncle, it seems that there is no one on duty here at night. So I looked at the environment again, about two meters high, the top of the wall was poured with cement, and there were many pieces of wine bottles embedded in it, which was supposed to prevent people from climbing over the wall.
And on the edge of the sentry box where the old man is located, there is a grid-shaped big iron door, the grid gap is very small, at most only one finger can be stretched in, if you want to climb the door, there is not even a focus point. At the top of the iron door, there are also some sharp iron rods, even if you climb up, I am afraid that if you are not careful, you will fall down, and you will end up disemboweling, and it is estimated that when the time comes, you will throw it directly to the morgue.
So I asked the uncle, then you don't need to keep people here at night, why are you staying here during the day, there are dead people inside, are you afraid that people will come in and steal hands and feet? The old man pointed to the road when I came with an unhappy face and said, don't say it, it's all this bastard hospital, don't build a morgue in the hospital, you have to build it here. During the day, people from the hospital occasionally come to collect the corpse, or family members come to recognize the corpse, which is gloomy and depressing!
I think I can understand the mood of the old man, if I were replaced and accompanied by a corpse on this quiet mountain all day long, I'm afraid I would also be anxious. But his words did give me a message that there were occasional people coming here during the day, either from the hospital or from the hospital. If it had been a different place, I would probably have pretended to be one of these people to infiltrate the investigation, but now that the old man has remembered my appearance, I'm afraid it won't work.
So I said to the old man, "Can you let me in?" I was entrusted to come here, and I didn't understand that I was not easy to deal with. But the old man said, look at it, what's so good, when you die that day, see for yourself enough to see enough! Get me out of here!
The old man suddenly became irritable, although his words were not good, but I also knew that I couldn't force others after all. But I noticed that there was a small grove behind the house in the morgue, so if I had gone back the way I had come and found a place to turn around, I would have been able to get closer to it through the courtyard wall. I thought that instead of continuing to talk about myself, I might as well do what I wanted, even if I really made trouble, this old man is not my opponent.
So I politely said goodbye to the old man and turned back the way I came. Not far from House 24, I calculated the location, and there was a small forest behind it, which if I was not mistaken, it must have been connected to the one behind the morgue, and I got into the weeds with no road, and killed it all the way.
Fortunately, there were not many people around, so I didn't reveal my whereabouts when I moved so much. After entering the grove and seeing the slippery pile of fallen leaves underneath, it is not difficult to see that even on weekdays, few people come to the grove. In this season, there is very little rain, but the ground here is so slippery, first of all, because of the moisture of the trees themselves, and secondly, it is indeed said that it is easier to accumulate yin energy here. For people in the industry like me, these seemingly ordinary signs are clues that we should not let go of easily. So I took a few deep breaths through my nose to judge from the smell first, but it was nothing different from the smell of ordinary plants and trees.
It's almost evening, and it won't be long before it's getting dark. I could have waited until the evening, when the old janitor came home, but since I only had a day, it had been half a day, and I hadn't even touched the doorway, so I couldn't afford to delay for half a minute. The grove was shaded by leaves, so the environment was a little darker, but fortunately, there was still some light entering the gaps, and I was able to see the road clearly. It's a wild wood, because there are all kinds of trees, and they're all messy. So much so that when I followed it, the route was always crooked. As I approached the vicinity of the morgue, I deliberately slowed my pace and moved slightly away from the edge of the woods so as not to be noticed by the old man.
Slowly getting closer, I could now see the roof of the morgue through the cracks in the trees. It's covered with green moss, and the ground is somehow crumbling. I squatted there motionless, and seeing that it was about to get dark, the old man sitting at the doorway, still staring anxiously in the direction of the courtyard, seemed to be a little unable to sit still, so he stood up and paced back and forth by the iron gate, and smoked cigarette after cigarette.
According to my understanding, generally speaking, people on the day shift should leave work at six o'clock in the evening. But when I squatted in the grove until six o'clock in the evening, I found that the old man did not seem to have any intention of leaving work. Could it be that he left work at seven o'clock? Eight? Or even later? I can't afford to wait like this.
So I picked up a piece of mud on the ground and rubbed my hands together to make it a little stronger, but my hands got dirty because of it. I held the mud in my hand and looked intently at the old man. The moment he lowered his head and stepped on the cigarette butt, he threw the mud towards the roof of the morgue.
I have already said that I am a practitioner. So this time, the landing point is extremely accurate. Mud blocks are different from stones, which make a hard and crisp sound on the roof, and if you don't control the strength well, they will pop out and fall into the yard. The mud block, on the other hand, is soft in itself, so when it hits the roof, it only makes a muffled sound.
Sure enough, when the mud hit the roof, there was a brief and rapid "thump", but the sound was not very loud. The old man's reaction made me feel a little ridiculous, because his body trembled a little, and he looked in the direction of the morgue like a frightened bird, but he did not dare to come over.
I couldn't help laughing, this is also my revenge for his murder of me earlier. He looked nervous for a while, but when he saw that no other sound was coming, he continued to light a cigarette and continue pacing. This time, I prepared a mud block with my left and right hands, and smashed it out one after another when he was a little inattentive.
After two muffled sounds, the old man was once again startled by the unknown sound. This time his movements were more exaggerated, turning into a series of retreats, and then he reached out to hold the iron door, staring in the direction of the morgue with a frightened face. I don't know exactly what he's afraid of, but I can tell from his previous words and the way he reacts at the moment that something unusual must be happening here.
The old man seemed to be frightened, holding on to the door and not daring to move. So he quietly summoned his troops and horses, sent only the weakest one, and instructed him to slap on the door of the morgue and make a knock on the door. Soon, there was a knock on the door, and the old man screamed in fright, and quickly closed the iron door, then padlocked, and then ran away without looking back in the direction I came.
That skill doesn't look like an old man at all. I think he should thank me when he found out the truth, after all, I made him leave work early.
Factoring that he would not return, I got up and slipped down the gentle slope of the edge of the grove, near the edge of the wall. Originally, when I scared the old man, I just hoped that he would run away, but I didn't expect him to be so professional, run back and run, and deliberately locked the door before leaving. This made me a little cocooned, and I couldn't easily enter the area inside the courtyard wall from that direction.
It was already dark because I was halfway up the mountain, and from a distance, I could see the lights of the whole city gradually brightening. While there was still a glimmer of light, I began to look for a possibility to climb over the nearest courtyard wall, and I did not dare to turn on the flashlight rashly, in case someone saw me, I would not be able to eat and walk away. I didn't dare to go to the more open area, because it was still a little far from the location of the morgue, and the wall in front of me, as soon as I climbed in, two or three steps away, was the outer wall of the morgue.
I searched along the gentle slope, and near the middle, I found a relatively easy place, because there was a small gentle slope on the edge of the place where I could stand, and I only had to jump towards the wall, and if I reached out, I should be able to grasp the edge of the wall, but there were a lot of glass shards on it, and if I grabbed it, my hands would be full of blood.
So I went back to the grove, broke a strong and comparatively valuable branch, smoothed the thicker end on the red brick at the edge of the wall, and then grabbed the smaller end and broke the broken glass shards with my strength and the hardness of the branch itself, similar to a stab.
It was a time-consuming project, and after all, the equipment was limited, so I had to make do with it. After finally breaking almost all the glass, I still couldn't just climb up, because there were still some short spots that I didn't miss. So I took off my coat, lifted it up with the branch in my hand, and gently laid it on the wall where I had knocked it out.
Throwing away the branches and wrapping the canvas behind my back, I jumped up the gentle slope and grabbed the edge of the fence that was covered by my clothes. There was a little bit of skating, but I still flipped it up with my hands and feet.
The joy of success is indescribable, although my series of dashing and coherent movements did not have any audience. When I was squatting down on the fence and was about to find a point to climb down, a sound suddenly came, and I almost fell from a height of two meters.
"Stand upright! Align with the right! ”
