Chapter VII. In the morgue
I'm not a timid person, but I'm not so bold as to be afraid of heaven and earth. This sudden order frightened me and made a funny neck shrinking motion.
Frightened, I quickly stabilized myself to prevent falling. But the trumpet-like shout came to an abrupt halt after it appeared. So much so that I even began to wonder if I was hallucinating, but the sensation was so real that it seemed to come from my ears, but I couldn't tell the difference.
I crouched on the fence in a pooping position, quite indecent. I staggered in the night wind, but did not dare to move rashly, and I maintained this position for about five minutes, during which I did not make any sound except the rustle of the leaves of the grove behind me when the wind blew, not even the cries of animals and insects.
Master once said that where there is too much life, the vegetation will flourish, but the animals and insects will avoid it. This is the morgue, and if it is dead, it is undoubtedly the heaviest place in the neighborhood. There was no light, no people, not even sound, and the silence made people feel a little hairy and a little chilly.
When I felt that there was no sound, I turned around and crouched down facing the woods, holding my hands on the top of the wall covered by my clothes, and then slowly sliding my feet down the wall, while my hands held the weight of my body until I was inside the wall from the chest down, and I hung my hands on the wall. After a visual inspection, my feet were still about half a meter high from the ground, so I grabbed my clothes with my hands so that I could smooth them down when I fell, so everything went well, and I jumped to the ground, but when I landed, my feet stepped on a rock, and the soles of my feet ached.
Once I was standing, I was in the middle of the fence and the morgue. The wall of the morgue near my side was windowless. The plain white painted walls look so dazzling and obvious even in the dark and dark environment. I knew that the old man who was guarding the door before would not be so interested in coming back to inspect again in the evening, so I turned on the flashlight with confidence and boldness.
I walked to the left along the wall, thinking that side was far away from the gate. After turning a corner, I found a normal wooden door. The door is locked, but it is the kind of lock that is fastened with iron chains, which means that the door itself has no cylinder and can only be closed in this way. I continued to circle around and came to the front of the morgue. I had seen this side in the daytime, there were a few windows, but at that time I could see through the glass that the curtains had been drawn inside, and it seemed that the room was a darkless environment. The door is a double door, but the door is metal covering the whole door, or it is a metal door itself, so the door should be relatively strong and not easy to open.
This house is actually composed of three bungalows connected together, and the distance between the front and back can be about 30 meters. If this is only a morgue, it seems to be a little too much. But since I didn't go in outside, I didn't know about it for the time being.
I walked to the door, reached out and gave me a few gentle nudges, but I didn't move. So I put my ear to the door to see if there was any movement inside, but I couldn't hear anything but the thick hum of the wall, but the feeling of my ear on the tin made half of my face cold. I pushed the curtains one by one, and they were all tightly closed, and there was no place to open. So this made me a little difficult, obviously I couldn't find anything if I went around outside, let alone complete the test of Qin's seniors, I had to think about it.
Or smash the window glass? So that my hand can reach in and open the bolt. But when I think about it, the movement will be too big, and if this movement disturbs the corpses inside, it will be asking for trouble. In addition, if someone finds out tomorrow, I am the only one who has been here today except for the old man, and I will naturally be regarded as the biggest suspect. When the time comes, I will lose more than I will gain by committing a crime of desecrating corpses.
I dismissed this thought, remembering that when I had squatted in the woods earlier, I had observed that the roof of the morgue had no passage like a skylight to allow me to enter and exit, so I went back to the small wooden door on the side. I held a flashlight and looked at the chain and the lock, which was hung on the chain, and part of the lock was attached to the chain due to gravity. I reached out and fiddled with the lock, but the fitting place was a little sluggish to separate, I took a closer look, and the original fitting part turned out to be slightly rusty because the two were connected.
This means that the lock has been hanging here for a long time, and the door has not been opened for a long time. As a whole house, also indoors, there is no reason to open two doors separately. So I asserted that whatever kind of space was behind this wooden door, it must be connected to the rest of the morgue. At the moment, smashing the window doesn't work, and the iron gate can't get in, so the only hope I have to get in is this door.
I didn't have anything sharp in my bag except a pair of rusty iron scissors. And that pair of scissors was brought out of the well in Sujiatuo at the beginning, because it was too murderous, and it was still wrapped in a red rope. It's also not very realistic to use it to pick locks. It's also very easy to leave marks by smashing it with a stone, so why should I smash the door, why don't I smash the window? For now, I can only pick the lock.
So I took two paperclips out of my bag, straightened one of them completely, and straightened the other as well, and made a small hook. I put the hook-like paper clip into the keyhole and reached all the way through, but the hook was in the opposite direction of the key. Then he straightened the other one in, and then tilted it slightly, against the previous one. In this way, there is no way for the paper clip with the hook to move left and right. Then I gently turned the hook until I turned the hook side upside down again, and as I turned, I gently pulled it outward, until I found a point, and when I pulled it out, I couldn't pull the paper clip with the hook out, but it seemed to hook something, and I knew that it was the lock cylinder I was looking for.
So I held it with one hand, and with the other I began to pull the hooked paper clip outward at a constant speed, and with a click, the lock popped open.
Don't ask me why I can pick the lock, will I tell you that my master taught me?
I removed the lock and chain, placed it by the door, and shone a flashlight at the wooden door with one hand, and pushed it open with the other. With a slow, long creak, the door opened.
It's a small area, cluttered with all sorts of things, all of which look like medical equipment. There was an extremely strong smell of disinfectant in the air, and it seemed that this was just a storage room. On the wall opposite me, there was a wooden door, and if I guessed correctly, there should be a morgue behind it. And next to the door is a folding stretcher with wheels on the base, and on the surface of the stretcher, there is something similar to a belt, which is supposed to be used to push the body when it is carried from here or brought here. Those belts were presumably used to prevent bumps in the mountain road and to immobilize corpses.
This environment and this smell make me feel a little depressed. I saw the light switch next to the door, so I went over and turned it on, but I didn't dare to close it, for fear that if something unpredictable happened later, I would at least have a chance to escape, or at least I would have to save time to open the door.
The other wooden door could be opened from the inside, but since the stretcher was in the same position where I needed to stand to open the door, I had to move it first. This shows that when the medical staff put the stretchers here, they moved in from the area of the entrance and then closed the door. When I moved the stretcher, I found that there was not much dust accumulated on it, and unlike the bottles and cans and medical equipment around me, it was relatively clean, which means that this stretcher had been used not long ago.
I reached out and opened the other door, and like the previous one, I shone my flashlight in the direction of the door to make sure that I could see the door as soon as I opened it. Even though I knew that this was a morgue and that there should be a corpse behind the door, I was naturally scared, but when I opened it, something else scared me.
Because when the door was opened, there was a feeling of something soft on the top, and from the moment the door opened a crack, there was a strange wind blowing in the face, and with it, there were some blue curtains, as if they were stirred by the strange wind. The whole environment here is closed, how can there be such a style of penetration? But at the moment, I didn't have time to think about this problem, I just held a flashlight in one hand and covered my nose and mouth with the other, after all, where the dead are parked, even if there is disinfectant water, there is always corpse gas, and inhaling too much will have an impact on my body.
But behind the door, I didn't see the corpse, but there were many parallel blue curtains, and between each two curtains, about a meter or more wide, if I guessed correctly, there should be a platform for the corpse in the middle. It's just that because of the curtain, I didn't see it when I opened the door.
So my heart raced, and I found a pair of medical masks in the small room where the miscellaneous items were piled up, put them on, and tiptoed into the morgue.
