Chapter 15: Snape, What Are You Doing, Snape!
Hallie got out of bed, and she stood there looking at Aunt Petunia helplessly, not knowing what to do.
Penny looked at Hallie, her body trembling slightly, and there was a subtle cry in her voice:
"I know, I've always known that Lily loves me, always will!"
"But I never reciprocated this love, I only hurt her with her love for me, even though she tried to help me again and again."
"Every time she came back for the summer, she would share with me her life at Hogwarts and the magical experiences she encountered, everything there made me yearn for it and made me even more jealous of her."
"Every time I see you, it reminds me of Lily, of the sins I once committed, of what a cowardly, inferior, and shameless person I was, that I was so stupid that there was no way to save me!"
"I thought about apologizing to her, but I couldn't say it every time, and it made our relationship worse and worse until it was irretrievable."
"But, but!"
She suddenly became excited: "If there was no magic, without that damn magic, everything should not be like this!" Lily and I won't be like that, and she won't know your father, and she won't be killed by magic! β
"None of this would have happened without magic, without wizards!"
"For the past ten years, without the interference of magic and wizards, we have always lived well, haven't we?"
Harley looked at the pleading look in her aunt's eyes, was silent for a long time, and said softly:
"I'm sorry, Aunt Penny, but I have to go."
Penny's expression became more and more bitter:
"Ah, yes, you have to go, because you have a gift, the same talent as Lily."
"I think I'm jealous of you, just like I'm jealous of Lily, that's why I'll find a way to stop you from going to Hogwarts."
"Not really." Hallie whispered.
Penny laughed at herself, "What else could it be?" Anyway, I'm such a hopeless, stupid woman. Oh my God, how stupid would it be for someone to be jealous of their sister and realize that they actually love her after she dies? β
"No, I don't think her sister wants that love either." She said, "She may have expected to receive blessings from her sister, even if it was just a letter, a sentence, a word, but every time she got only harm, she may have long since stopped expecting anything from her stupid sister." β
"......" Hallie bit her lip, Aunt Penny's words overwhelmed her.
The words were so heavy, so heavy that Harley almost suffocated, she couldn't bear it.
Penny said suddenly:
"Maybe I never loved her."
Hallie's already petite body trembled slightly.
Penny's tone is hoarse:
"Maybe that's the truth, I've never loved her, that's why I hurt her again and again."
"No, it's not like that!"
Harley said that again, but not before, this time she shouted.
Penny stopped, looking at Harley with an incredulous look, as if she didn't expect her to be so loud.
Harley pursed her lips and whispered:
"I'm sorry, Aunt Penny, I didn't know what happened to you and Mommy."
"I don't know if she's forgiven you, or if she's never actually held a grudge against you. But I want to ......"
Hallie paused and said softly:
"I think mom must be willing to forgive you because you're her sister."
"And Aunt Penny, you must love your mother, too. If it's not because of love, how can you feel guilty? β
Penny looked at Hallie's resemblance to her mother, her body trembling even more, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She covered her mouth a little silently and rushed out the door.
But at the door, she stopped again, choked up, and said:
"I'm sorry, Hallie, I shouldn't have said that, forget about it, just act like nothing happened, and get some rest early."
She staggered downstairs, as if she was afraid of something.
Vernon Dursley, who heard the commotion, went upstairs, and the fat man turned to his side and tightened his stomach so that his wife could go downstairs.
He came to Harry's door, looked at the girl in the bedroom who was a little overwhelmed, his eyes softened, and he said softly:
"I'm sorry, Hallie, Penny may have been stimulated by something, she didn't mean to."
"Well, you can rest first, we'll try not to disturb you."
"When I wake up tomorrow morning, everything will be back to normal, I promise, okay?"
"Uncle Vernon."
Harley didn't respond, just asked softly:
"What kind of person is my mother?"
Vernon hesitated for a long time and said softly:
"I haven't met her a few times, but I can assure you that she's a very gentle person, really."
Harley asked again:
"And what about the other one? My, Father. β
Vernon's body trembled slightly, as if he remembered some unbearable experience.
"I ......"
Vernon's voice was a little hoarse:
"The first time we met, it was in a restaurant, before Penny and I got married."
"Penny, she would love to repair her relationship with your mother, otherwise she wouldn't have taken me to the meeting.
"That's what I thought at the time, I wanted to help Penny, at least so that the sisters could talk normally."
"Unfortunately, that meeting ended up unhappily because it was not only your mother who was present, but also your ...... Father. β
"It's also my fault, I don't know anything about what he said, whether it's broomsticks, Gringotts, Quidditch, I don't know anything about your wizarding world, my ignorance sparked his ridicule, and that's where things started."
"I can't stand his ridicule, and neither can Penny, she can't stand his ridicule of me."
"I remember when we left, Lily cried very sadly, and Penny regretted it, but she didn't want to apologize, it wasn't her fault, it wasn't mine, it wasn't Lily's, it was just ......"
Vernon scoffed:
"The only one who did the wrong is not to be held responsible, but the rest are tormented for it."
Harley didn't say a word, just kept her head down, not knowing what she was thinking.
Vernon continued:
After that, it was the wedding, and they were invited to the wedding, but Penny was so angry about what had happened that she refused to let Lily be her bridesmaid, and no matter how much Lily apologized, it was useless. Because she didn't need Lily's apology, it wasn't Lily's fault, it would only make her sadder. β
"I didn't say a word to him at the wedding, and neither did he, except Lily kept trying to repair our relationship."
"The only one of us who needs to apologize, heh, he didn't do anything."
Vernon's eyes showed undisguised resentment:
"No, he did some 'trying' anyway."
"After the wedding, he came to our house alone, and I thought he was here to apologize. I was so naΓ―ve that I opened the door for him. And how did he do it? He used his damn magic to turn me into a pig, trampled me under my feet, and ...... Penny"
His eyes almost erupted with anger, and those unbearable experiences were still vivid in his mind even after more than ten years. But he didn't continue, just closed his eyes in pain, because those really painful experiences couldn't even be spoken.
Hallie whispered:
"That's why you didn't go to their wedding after that."
She knew what was going on, and they probably didn't want to go, but they didn't dare.
She never understood why her uncle would be so resistant to magic and her going to Hogwarts.
She understood now, for magic had caused them indelible pain.
It was brought by her father.
Although it was hard for her to imagine that she would have such a father, it was her father, unfortunately, it was her father.
"I'm sorry." Hallie pursed her lips, she didn't know how to compensate her uncle.
Obviously, her father did such an excessive thing, but her uncle still treated her gently.
"It's not your fault, Hallie."
Vernon took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed the anger that had been aroused:
"Go to bed early, I'll go talk to your aunt."
He closed the door, cutting out Harley's view so that Harley couldn't see his suppressed angry expression.
But Harley didn't feel good, she covered herself with the quilt and stuffed herself inside.
"Like an ostrich." Hallie thought.

In the shadows near the Dursleys, Ash looked at Snape, who had appeared across from the Dursley's house at some point, with a wand in his hand, looking through the window and looking at Harley's room with gentle eyes, and complained in his heart:
"Professor Snape, do you know that Dumbledore is doing that?"
He had just intended to come and take a look, only to run into Professor Snape using magic to interfere with the Dursleys.
In Ash's opinion, Professor Snape was a pure idiot!
I can only say that fortunately it is not on the train!
But it was clear that since Snape had already seen Harley in Diagon Alley, he would certainly not allow himself to let Lily's daughter go.
However, he didn't go too far, just channeled the Dursleys' emotions a little.
Of course, Dumbledore would know about this sooner or later, and Snape would inevitably be held accountable, but the other party was mostly willing.
You may even feel like you're silently protecting Hallie.
As for Ash.
Dumbledore wouldn't have known he was here, as Dumbledore didn't know that Ash knew the address of Harry's house.
