Chapter 33: It's Rejoice, He Used Rejoice!
Since it is only a first year, the course schedule for the new students is very relaxed.
Although there are eight courses, there are not many classes per week, and a few books do not exceed three lessons per day, which means that new students have plenty of time to allocate freely.
And if the freshmen were to choose their favorite course among the eight courses of Transfiguration, Charms, History of Magic, Potions, Astronomy, Herbology, Flying, and Defense Against the Dark Arts, the result would be a lot of disagreement.
But if they had to choose the most hated class, it would be Potions.
Bang!
The door to the Potions classroom was slammed open, and Professor Snape strode to the podium, his black robe floating backwards with his movements, like a bat spreading its wings.
The professor looked at the student with his cold, empty dark eyes without the slightest emotion, and when his gaze swept over Harry, his eyes became much softer. But soon, Snape's eyes froze, and he said in a cold tone:
"This class doesn't require you to be stupid with a wand or to chant incantations, so some of you may not believe it's magic. You can't comprehend the beauty of the simmering cauldron with white smoke and fragrance, and you won't really understand the magic of the liquid that flows into people's veins, and makes people's hearts flutter and their minds are confused......"
"Actually, I don't expect you to appreciate the esoteric science and precision of making potions."
Hallie looked at Professor Snape standing on the podium, and suddenly realized that Professor Snape was completely different from the previous two meetings, but she couldn't say anything.
This made Harley a little distressed, and even began to wonder what was different.
"Harry Potter."
Professor Snape coldly called Harry's name, his eyes were so gentle, but his tone was the opposite, especially when he pronounced 'Potter', he could almost feel his gnashing of teeth.
The mixture of these two very different expressions also seemed to foreshadow Snape's own inner struggle.
Snape forced himself to keep his voice cold so that the vibrato was less pronounced:
"Tell me, what happens if I add daffodil root powder to wormwood infusion?"
Harley, who was still in a daze, was suddenly named, and said weakly:
"I'm sorry, Professor Snape, I don't know."
Snape's tone returned to normal, and he said calmly:
"Don't know? It doesn't matter, you're here to learn that. β
"Miss Kassandra, can you tell her the answer?"
Kassandra lifted her chin slightly:
"This can be configured with a 'Living Hell Potion,' which is a powerful sleeping pill."
"Correct."
Snape didn't hesitate to approve, he looked at Harley again, and asked:
"Tell me, Miss Hallie, if I want a piece of dungstone, where should you find it?"
Snape looked at the girl next to Harry again:
"Miss Kassandra."
"Dung stone is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and can be used to prepare an antidote."
Snape then asked, "What's the difference between scapular aconitum and wolf venom aconitum?" β
Snape didn't look at Harrie again this time, but asked Kassandra directly. Because he has realized the nature of Harley's scumbag, it is a pity that Harley does not seem to have inherited her mother's intelligence.
"They are the same plant, collectively known as Aconitum aconitum."
Kassandra replied so smoothly that she even pouted, thinking that the questions were too simplistic. You don't even need much experience, you just need to flip through the textbook a little to know the answer.
Of course, if you don't review it in advance, you'll be like Hallie.
"Hmph, if it weren't for me, our academy would definitely be deducted points!" Kassandra snorted and gave Harley an ostentatious look with a 'Hurry up and be grateful to me'.
"Exactly."
Snape bowed slightly, Lucius's education of Kassandra was still quite good.
Burst! I don't know who snickered.
"I'm sorry." Hallie's cheeks were slightly red from embarrassment and whispered.
Kassandra hadn't said a single word about the mudbloods, but she seemed to be disgraced again.
"It's okay."
Kassandra raised her head slightly, revealing her snow-white neck:
"You weren't born in a wizarding family, so it's normal that you don't know as much as I do, but I suggest you can review it with me in advance in the future."
"I will." Hallie said sincerely.
Snape's cold gaze swept over the other students, and he said with a gloomy face:
"What are you laughing at? I don't think you guys are much better than Miss Hallie! Tell me, why don't you take the notes? β
Wow!
Immediately the sound of turning pages and writing sounded in the classroom, and all the students were silent.
Snape retracted his gaze and said lightly:
"Slytherin adds 10 points for Miss Hallie's honesty and bravery, and Miss Kassandra's intelligence."
Harley looked up at Slytherin, her little face full of astonishment, which was completely unexpected.
She tried to find clues in Professor Snape's face, but unfortunately she couldn't see anything. But she stumbled upon the answer she had been looking forβshe finally noticed what was different about Professor Snape from yesterday, his hair, though still messy, was no longer as greasy as it had been.
Apparently, Professor Snape had washed his hair that day.
-----------------
Although there are only two classes on Friday and both classes are in the morning, you can move around freely as long as you finish these two classes. But the problem is that these two classes are back-to-backs, with no breaks in between, and both are Professor Snape's Potions lessons!
So for Slytherin and Gryffindor first-year freshmen, Friday is definitely the most torturous day of the week, and there is no one!
There was even an accident in Potions class where Neville was burned by a splash of potion for adding porcupine spikes to the cauldron, Ron, who was on his team, had to pinch his nose and take him to the infirmary, and Gryffindor was deducted five points for failing to alert his classmates to misplaced materials in time, which led many Gryffindor students to secretly complain about Professor Snape's serious eccentricity.
"Kassandra, where are we going today?"
"Still playing? Didn't you say you wanted to review Potions with me? β
"I'll help supervise too, Harley, haven't you read at all in the past week?"
"Huh?"
Harley was still discussing with Kassandra how to divide the rest of the free time today, but Kassandra poured cold water on her head, and even Hermione on the side helped her, which immediately made Harley extremely frustrated.
But luckily, when she looked up, she saw Ash walking towards her.
"Ash!" Harley shouted in surprise and grievance.
Ash asked with concern:
"What's wrong?"
"Ash."
Hallie pointed at Kassandra and Hermione, and said aggrievedly:
"They all bullied me!"
Ash was stunned for a moment, listened to Kassandra's story of what had happened, and admonished:
"Harley, you really need to study hard."
"Huh?"
Hallie has become completely numb, why is everyone letting her study?
Saying goodbye to the girls, Ash heads to the Potions classroom, where Professor Snape is sorting out the cauldron and other equipment needed to prepare potions.
"Mr. Black."
Snape looked up and saw Ash, and said calmly:
"What's the matter?"
Ash didn't go around in circles, and said directly:
"I need to mix some potions, but I lack the materials, I wonder if you have them here, Professor Snape?"
It's Friday, tomorrow is the weekend, and he needs to go out and do something.
Before that, he needs to do some preparation.
