Chapter 34: Harvard is okay too
That night, Serena and Jamie go to a high-end restaurant in New York and meet Serena's mother, Lily, her brother, Eric, and Chuck's father and Chuck.
This is the last time Lily and Chuck's dad get together before they get married.
And in the words of Chuck's father, after tonight, everyone will be a family.
The atmosphere at the table was quite harmonious.
The union of Lily and Chuck's dad is a bit sudden, but it's not something hard to accept.
After all, both sides are people in the same circle.
Serena and Chuck have known each other since childhood, and now they have no particular resistance to becoming half-siblings.
Jamie was the only "outsider" present, but his relationship with Serena, and Eric's adoring eyes when he met Jamie, made Chuck's father realize that Jamie was the key to his relationship with Lily's two children.
In order to show Jamie's attention, Chuck's dad deliberately explained that the steak for tonight's main course was from Jamie's family's Yellowstone ranch.
Unexpectedly, his son Chuck threw the napkin on the table directly after hearing this.
"Can I change the main course? I don't want to eat steak tonight. ”
Chuck's father asked with a puzzled face:
"Why?"
Chuck didn't explain, just looked up at Serena and Jamie across the table.
That expression is clearly saying, you two explain it to everyone.
Serena and Jamie looked at each other.
Finally Jamie spoke:
"It's all my fault, this time I went back to Yellowstone for a vacation, and I arranged for everyone to eat steak at every meal, so everyone may be tired of eating."
Chuck's dad will be skeptical.
Lily whispered to Serena what was going on.
Serena was about to tell the truth, but Chuck couldn't stand their slow swallowing movements anymore and spoke first.
"I'm not tired of eating the steaks at Yellowstone Ranch, but since I know that Yellowstone Ranch keeps the best beef for myself to enjoy, and the second-grade beef is only sold to the outside world, I am no longer interested in the so-called top Yellowstone steaks in these restaurants outside!"
"Please, this is not the top at all, but everyone still thinks that they are eating high-end goods, and they are complacent about it."
Lily's eyes widened as she looked at Serena.
"Is this true?"
Serena shrugged helplessly, explaining that the steak they had eaten at their Yellowstone Ranch was not that different from the one they had at the restaurant outside.
She stressed that all this was a deliberate and exaggerated statement.
Chuck's dad turned to look at Chuck and asked if it was true.
Seeing this, Kyakhtu looked at Jamie on the other side, and sneered proudly:
"If you don't believe me, you can ask Jamie to have Yellowstone Ranch send some really top quality beef every month, and I promise you won't want to go out and eat those inferior steaks again."
Serena glared at Chuck angrily.
Jamie patted his girlfriend's hand and offered to give in.
"To bless Bart and Lily, I can provide the wedding dinner with Yellowstone beef of the same quality that Chuck said I was talking about, and hopefully it's all in time."
Chuck and Lily welcome this and give Jamie a big gratitude.
Chuck took a sip of red wine and added:
"If the wedding guests are full of praise for the steaks at the dinner, I think I have to play a part in that."
Again, Serena gave stern eyes in protest.
It's just that Chuck doesn't care at all.
Get rid of Chuck's thorn, and the next topic at the dinner table will be much more pleasant.
Chuck and Lily talked about Jamie's WeHouse idea, and both of them thought it was a great idea, and even Chuck Dad even vaguely stated that he was willing to invest in the new company.
It's a pity that Jamie politely refused.
On the plane, several people have already reached a consensus on the distribution of WeHouse's equity.
Jamie came up with the idea, so he alone owns 80% of the founder's shares, and the remaining 20% is split equally between Serena, Rebecca, Chuck, Blair and Nate as co-founders.
That's right, Nate has a share of that.
Who made Nate's grandfather's house Vanderbilt?
Chuck's father didn't say anything, but he decided to have a good chat with Chuck in private.
His son apparently didn't realize the huge potential of WeHouse and didn't take investing in the company seriously.
I guess the other co-founders are the same.
This makes Jamie even more unusual.
Be able to come up with such creative ideas and know how to use all the resources around you to achieve your goals.
It is hard to imagine that such a mature mind could appear in a seventeen-year-old boy.
The most outrageous thing is that the other party is also a well-known best-selling novel writer in the United States.
At the same time, he is also a super student who can get a full score on the SAT exam.
Chuck's father looked at Jamie, who was talking and laughing with Lily's family on the other side, and wondered in his heart.
Why can't you give birth to such a son?
As the topic of SAT scores was discussed at the dinner table, Lily took the opportunity to ask Jamie which college he was going to apply to.
Jamie took the SAT in June and got a perfect score of 1,600.
Unlike the Celestial Empire college entrance examination, the SAT can be taken 7 times a year, and the results are valid for two years.
Most American high school students take the SAT more than twice.
Jamie originally applied for the October exam in order to get a full score, but he didn't expect to get a full score on the first exam.
However, this result is only a stepping stone to a prestigious school.
"Before I came back this time, my father asked me the same question, and I replied that I hadn't thought about it yet, and that any of the Ivy League schools would be acceptable to me."
After listening carefully, Lily nodded and then asked:
"And now?"
Jamie glanced at Serena beside him, squeezed his girlfriend's hand and said:
"I know that Serena has always wanted to go to Brown University, and I am very supportive of her decision, as far as I ...... I would probably choose Harvard. ”
As we all know, there are only three real Ivy League universities, Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.
There may be some debate about who comes second and who comes third, but the first place is undoubtedly certainly Harvard.
It wasn't a particularly unexpected decision, but a subtle look of surprise flashed in Lily's eyes.
However, what really made her break the defense was her daughter's reaction next.
Serena turned her head to look at Jamie in surprise.
"Really?"
Chuck's dad also took the opportunity to interject.
"Law or business?"
In his eyes, there is no doubt that these two disciplines are the best.
Not surprisingly, Jamie's choice was a pre-law pathway.
Strictly speaking, this is not a major, but a program where anyone with an undergraduate degree can apply for a Juris Doctorate.
The first reaction of everyone present was that Jamie was going to be a lawyer or a politician in the future, but in fact, everyone was wrong.
It is true that most graduates of normal Harvard Law School choose these two paths, but what if they drop out halfway through?
Ever since he heard Mark Zuckerberg's name on a plane, Jamie decided to go to Harvard as a dropout.
His only purpose in doing this is to cut off Facebook!
When Serena learned of her boyfriend's decision, she immediately asked Lily back.
"Mom, if I were to apply to Harvard Business School, what would you think of the idea?"
