Chapter 45: An Unexpected Wedding Invitation

Williamsburg Restaurant, Brooklyn.

Caroline, who has just been a waitress for a few days, is walking on her pair of long straight legs comparable to that of a supermodel, scrambling between the food outlet and the table.

Obviously, she was just serving, but wearing high heels, she just walked out of a catwalk style.

Many of the customers who came to eat at this point were specially visited.

Eating cheap burgers and sandwiches and watching the free version of the Victoria's Secret show is definitely a huge attraction for the restaurant's customer base, which is overwhelmingly made up of homeless people.

Including the old black cashier of the restaurant, Earle, who was wearing headphones and pretending to listen to music, but in fact his eyes were always following the pair of long legs back and forth.

All of this was caught by Max, who returned to the restaurant.

Syllable!

A snap of his finger snapped in front of Earl.

Seeing that it was Max, Earl immediately happily took off his headphones and was about to say hello to his "lover".

Max tells Earl bluntly that the two are "over".

Earl hurriedly called Max to the ground, arguing that he was just bored and doing a statistic.

"What?" Max looked confused.

Earl explains:

"I'm counting how many restaurant guests are looking at Caroline's legs when you're not around, and how much that number drops when you're working with Caroline."

Max crossed his hands and glared at Earl angrily.

"May I ask what are those who are descending looking at?"

Earl took a trip with both hands.

"Isn't that obvious? A peek at my most beloved Max, of course. ”

Max pointed at Earl and said with satisfaction:

"You've managed to win me back, and I'll bring you your favorite little cake tomorrow."

After speaking, he was about to change his clothes, when he suddenly turned around again.

Old Earl thought that Max had turned back to check on the post, and was glad that he didn't continue to peek at Caroline, but Max suddenly asked him a question.

"When I was in the dining room at the same time as Caroline, was there more people looking at her legs, or more people looking at my breasts?"

This is a question to be given, and it is also a proposition to be given.

Old Earl didn't hesitate to lie and save his life:

"Of course, there are a lot of people watching you, who likes to see a long-legged canary?"

Max turned away contentedly.

After changing clothes in the warehouse cubicle, I went out just in time to meet Caroline who came in to find wasabi sauce.

"Thank goodness you're finally back, I really don't know how to deal with those difficult customers, they want this and that, your previous job was so tedious?"

Max straightened his overalls with a calm expression.

"No, it's been like this since you came."

"What?" Caroline was stunned.

Max replied domineeringly: "Because the old lady has never been used to them!" ”

After saying that, he snatched the wasabi sauce from Caroline's hand, opened the door and rushed out.

Soon Max's roar rang out in the dining room outside.

"You'd better eat this bottle for me, or don't let me get you anything, get free food, and get to the almshouse!"

Soon Max was back in the warehouse with a gust of wind.

Caroline thanked Max on the spot.

Max bluntly said that he didn't do this to help Caroline, but he didn't want to make himself more workload in the future.

Even so, Caroline was grateful.

In between work, Caroline asks why Max is half an hour late, after all, there is no overtime pay for being a nanny.

At the same time, Caroline also emphasized that she did not have any opinions about helping Max to top the class, but was just curious.

Max told Caroline that her employer was shopping on Fifth Avenue today, and she needed to take care of her two babies and couldn't get back early.

Caroline frowned on the spot, saying that she hated this kind of person who didn't take other people's time as time.

Max asked curiously:

"Rich women generally spend a lot of time visiting stores, haven't you used to be like that?"

Caroline replied very reservedly:

"In fact, I rarely go to the store because those stores send me the latest pieces of the season, and they send someone directly to my home for me to choose from."

"Only an old woman like Paris Hilton, who loves to be in the limelight, will take her followers to sweep the streets and meet the paparazzi's request for photos."

Max asked earnestly:

"Old? I don't think she's over thirty years old, right? ”

Caroline pursed her lips, saying that anyone who was older than her could be classified as an old woman in her category.

Then she immediately added.

"Except for you!"

Max didn't particularly appreciate it, but continued to ask:

"And what about Serena Woodson?"

When Caroline heard the name, it was like a cat being stepped on by its tail.

"Well, I remember I once told you that I and her are mortal enemies, please don't mention this person in front of me in the future, thank you."

It's all that poor vanity.

Max didn't eat this, and continued to go his own way, saying:

"Today when I was home with my employer, I met your sworn enemy in the elevator, and her boyfriend, and I heard that you invited him to a dance at the prom in Constance."

Caroline broke down on the spot, clutching her head and shouting:

"Oh my God, how do you know that?"

Max shrugged and replied with a nonchalant expression:

"From the blog of the gossip diva."

"You follow that blog too?"

"That's right, it's the URL you told me, why don't you eat free melons?"

Caroline was deflated.

"Okay, you're right, but that's all in the past, and it has nothing to do with me now."

Max nodded in agreement, glad she hadn't told Jamie and Serena about Caroline's current situation.

Caroline's sensitive and fragile self-esteem really can't withstand a little blow.

The next day, Max arrives at his employer's house in Hampshire House as usual.

Today Pizzy and her husband were out for a party, and as soon as Max arrived, the two of them went out.

Max changed the diapers for the two babies, made milk powder for the two of them, and was sitting by the cradle to put them to sleep, when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Max walked over and took a look in the door mirror, and was surprised to find that it was Serena.

She hurriedly opened the door.

"Hey!"

Serena carried two cups of Starbucks coffee in her hand and handed them to Max.

"Thank you for the cupcakes last night, it's a little gift."

Max thanked him and accepted it, and invited Serena into the house.

Serena refused on the spot.

"Actually, I'm here for you."

Max pointed to himself with surprise on his face.

"Me?"

Serena nodded, glancing into the room behind Max.

She was afraid that Pizzy would come out when she heard her voice, and then she would not be able to get out.

"Don't worry, Pizzie is out, and it is estimated that she will come back very late."

Max replied empathetically.

Serena breathed a sigh of relief.

Max invited Serena into the house again, and this time she didn't refuse.

After coming to the living room and sitting down on the couch, Serena finally said what she meant.

"My mom got married this weekend, but I haven't thought about what to give her."

That's when Max suddenly came to say.

"If my mom had gotten married, I would never have bothered about it."

Serena asked curiously:

"Why?"

Max shrugged.

"Because she robbed my boyfriend, if it were you, would you attend your mom and your ex-boyfriend's wedding?"

Serena covered her mouth in surprise, not knowing what to say for a moment.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know-"

Max interrupted directly:

"It's okay, I've been used to it since I was a child, so let's talk about your mother's wedding, right? I'm sure you didn't invite me to the wedding, did you? ”

Now it was Serena's turn to be surprised.

"How do you know I'm here to invite you to the wedding?"

Max had a "stop making trouble" look on his face.

She is a low-level girl who works as a waitress in a shabby restaurant in Brooklyn, and she is a beautiful girl like Serena who grew up with a golden key in her mouth.

The only intersection between the two is Caroline, and it's an accident.

So how could Serena invite her to her own mother's wedding?

"It was Jamie's idea."

Serena explained.

Max was even more confused after listening.

"Last night Jamie and I ate the cake you gave us, it was the first time I had such a delicious cupcake, and then Jamie asked me, why don't you invite you to the wedding and help us make some cakes on the spot, so that everyone can taste this delicious cake."

After Serena's further explanation, Max finally understood.

But she refused without hesitation.

The reason is that she needs to work two jobs a day, one as a nanny and the other as a waitress in a restaurant, and she can't find time to attend Serena's mother's wedding and help everyone make cakes.

"It only takes one day, the wedding will be held at my grandmother's estate in New Jersey, and I will arrange for a car to pick you up, and all the things you need to make the cake will be prepared in advance, and you will be paid 100,000 dollars to show your appreciation, I know that the cupcakes you make are definitely worth much more than that, and this is just a little bit of my heart."

100,000 dollars, Max may not be able to save even if he works for three years.

Now you only need to go to the wedding for one day and help everyone make a cake, which in Max's opinion is no different from picking up for nothing.

She immediately changed her words: "To attend your mother's wedding, do I need to rent a decent dress?" ”

Serena gave Max the address of a dress shop directly, saying that Max only had to go there to pick out a suitable outfit before the wedding, and she would pay for it all.

Max couldn't help but sigh, is this the daughter of an old rich family?

Well thought out!
